- mary (6/5): More expensive than it should have been… and the room was way too far from an elevator. - Location and the fact that there was a bar and restaurant on property. Lack of elevators… and the first room they gave us was already occupied! Also, they put us in a hot-tub room… never would want that, especially since the shower was in the tub… hubby could not navigated that! Also, the lack of signage was ridiculous. And we could not take advantage of the breakfast as there were too many people drooling over the buffet. And you needed a nap at all times to figure out how to get from point A to point B.

- V3924MNjamesb (10/5): Highly Recommend!! - I have stayed here several times over the past several years and never disappointed. I book a king with the jacuzzi and always the room is very clean and the jacuzzi is a real delight. Staff is friendly and competent. I've eaten at the Grouses Nest and the meals are really good. Shown here are two recent choices, a Grouses Nest Burger and wings with butter garlic. Great value!

I attended my junior prom here and a ton of events over the years from weddings, reunions that I plans. It was a nostalgic experience and brought back a lot of memories. Only minor….. bathroom specifically our little dated but clean and fit my needs fine.

- Rachel (8/5): Nice place to stay in Altoona, but dated - Love the location and easy access to amenities. The place is dated but still kept pretty well. The air conditioning did not seem to work very well. The hot tub was down for maintenance, so that was a bummer.

For starters we got a pool side room an wernt able to even use the pool cus they rent out the pool space for birthday parties so all weekend the pool had 30-40 kids in it! Absolutely disappointing an a waste of money! The rooms also have mold in them and the TVs are super small. Overall not a “grand” hotel at all

Food was good and prices reasonable. The only thing that went wrong was the ceiling tile that fell into our tub making it impossible for us to have a shower on the day we were leaving! See above. - Logan (3/5): We had a disappointing stay - Front desk staff were all amazing, location of the room was nice as well. Room was dirty, hot water got lukewarm at best, the air vents were covered in dust, the room temp was 75 when we arrived and when we turned it down the temp went up over time. Refrigerator froze everything we put in there so we had to throw food away that wasn’t ate. Staff at the bar were extremely rude! 1 bartender in particular had a horrible attitude. Rolling her eyes at customers, ripping money from your hand, taking orders for drinks and then walking away to go dance. We love spending time away at the Altoona Grand but this last stay definitely was not like other times.

- Jonathan (9/5): An Affordable Classic - This place gave off a wedding/convention vibe. Big entryway, ballroom, big pool, rooms looking out to poolside. Big laundry on site, many rooms. The parking lot was plowed and salted, so safe getting in and out. The staff was mostly on the younger side, and very friendly. I think I caught the shift change. They knew what was open nearby for food, groceries, etc. The price was right. It was a long building with not a lot of access doors, and a bit of a maze. I admit to being tired from my drive, but if you got the wrong room, you might have to schlep you bags a bit from the parking lot. The mattress felt a bit old, like you could feel the give of the springs. The room had a window that looked into the ballroom, so not sure if there was an event if the noise or privacy would be compromised.
