Guest Reviews
- Juan (8/5): - Weather was amazing this hotel was wonderful bery clean comfortable nice people
- Rita (6/5): Basic student residence - It's OK for what it is, but it certainly isn't 3-star, or even really 2.5; it's just really basic student accommodation with no frills. For example, there's only a shower, with a fixed overhead rainfall head; the only lighting is extremely bright, with no low-light options; and there was only one chair in the room. The bed was comfortable enough for sleeping, but the mattress had a very stiff edge that made it uncomfortable to sit on.
Parking arrangements were unclear; guests get a permit at reception, and there are a small number of spaces available, but they were all taken. The remaining spaces were all marked "Loading Only - 20 mins max, 24/7" - but people were parking there anyway, and it eventually transpired that "24/7" doesn't include weekends!!
Access is not too bad but the officially available parking is not that close, depending on which block you're in, and of course there are no lifts, so guests may have to get luggage up/down several flights of stairs.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Accommodation excellent. Really good value for money. Cleaned each morning.
- Katie (10/5): - Perfect location; nice room with ensuite. Good choice for breakfast.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Peaceful environment - Lovely environment, room was spotless and good value. Breakfast ok but breakfast room not great as didn’t seem to have the staff to keep it tidy.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The location was handy.
The only disappointment our room was next to exit door every time door open/shut it disturbed us.
- Dave (8/5): - Great clean place to stay with a wide choice at breakfast. Tables there are set up to sit large numbers at one sitting. There is plenty of parking, if a bit of a walk away from the accommodation. There is a regular bus service into the centre of Canterbury costing about £2.50. The stops are a short walk down a grass path. I would stay there again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Room was very clean and as advertised. Shower was luke warm.
Breakfast (bacon and eggs) were cold.
- MUHAMMAD (8/5): Stay at Turing College, Canterbury - My stay at Turning College , Canterbury was really good experience , nice scenic view in surrounding specially in evening, break fast was good and high security system with excellent staff.
cost effective room.
- JOY (8/5): - It was just OK for my one night stay.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - clean and tidy and all we needed for an overnight stay
- Valeria (8/5): Not bad - The staff at the reception was very helpful and friendly. The campus is amazingly located in hectares of green and very well organised structure wise. The room was nice and clean but being a student accommodation the bed was not up to a hotel standard (small size and mattress uncomfortable and old as springs were coming out ). Couldn’t comment the breakfast because we had to rush out by 10 am so we missed it, although it was included.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great modern college and very clean facilities. Breakfasts good. Very noisy early evening from Large school party outside the room.
- William (8/5): - Very comfortable place to stay for visiting Canterbury
- Elaine (8/5): Good value stay - This is a value for money place to stay. Everything we needed was provided including a good buffet breakfast with hot breakfast options. My only small complaint would be that the only lighting in the room was very bright ceiling lights with no alternative forms of lighting available. It would have been nice to have had the option of turning off the bright light and used bedside lighting instead.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great setting, reasonable accommodation at a good price.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - While it is ordinarily a student hall it almost feels like a hotel. Decent bed, clean. Perfect for my purposes
- FrMike (10/5): Good value modern and comfortable student rooms - Excellent modern comfortable rooms with tasty full breakfast. Super helpful staff.
- Collette (8/5): University Room - In this price bracket my stay at Turing college was excellent. The room, breakfast, free parking and Wi-Fi gave me everything I needed for comfortable one night stay.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Basically all good. - Everything was really nice but it could have done with either better signs for the reception or some instructions how to find it on the website.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very nice place to stay, breakfast was just so so....
- unhappy (6/5): Stayed just one night thankfully - The staff on the phone were unhelpful and quite off
- Sabrina (8/5): - Very nice room, close to the bus and walking distance to Canterbury city centre. Good free breakfast, on site campus bar K-Bar is super inviting.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Value for money. - We had a fun time visiting with friends.
- Richard (6/5): - Chef cooked me fried eggs for breakfast. Better than the powdered egg :-)
- Verified traveler (4/5): Get what you pay for?? - The room was clean, but you could hear every little noise. Check our time if 10am is far too early! Breakfast from 7:45-9:30 on a Sunday morning is far too early, hence we missed it, but that was our choice l guess! The housekeeping tried to come into our room at 9:20am when we were getting dressed, check out was 10am!! We had to park our car in a different campus car park and walk back to the campus we were staying at and got completely lost! If it wasnt for coming across the security guard we would of ended up walking the wrong way! Overall it was an experience we will not be repeating......😡
- Verified traveler (8/5): Decent but not perfect - All good, breakfast was mass produced and frozen croissants. Its a one off but a shame really. We gave breakfast a miss on our second morning
- Verified traveler (4/5): Clean and pleasant - No airconditioning makes it unbearable
in the summer and it’s not cheap either
- Daffers (6/5): Turing College experience - Room was OK for the price, but did not realise there would be noisy summer school children making a lot of noise to nearly 2 am, and no one to control them, which interfered with our sleep.
- Charlotte (8/5): Much better than I imagined - Pleasant welcome, rooms ready early which was great for us. Rooms light, bright and clean. Bed lovely and long. Very hot in the room...but we are in a heat wave.
Easy parking.
Canteen breakfast not bad at all, though Plates cold and food not that hot.
- WN (10/5): Best place if you have events at Uni of Kent - Was there for a full week training at uni of Kent. Very comfortable rooms and the staffs were incredibly friendly! The breakfast was also very good!
- moira (8/5): Mixed bag - Stayed for four nights during hot spell of weather, room was very hot despite having window open. Free wi fi was a bit patchy but okay when working. Clarification needed on booking site as to where to check in, or was it just me? Otherwise, room very clean and comfy, no T.V. Free breakfast excellent. Good price so I would stay again if occassion arose.
- Stevie (10/5): Great stay in Canterbury - Nice spacious room, clean and tidy, and just a short 10min bus ride to town on a regular bus.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Very conveniently located - Good accommodations. The one negative was the distance of the carpark from the accommodations.
- Kevin (10/5): Superb value for money - This is like going to a Travelodge but it is friendlier, prettier and cheaper. This has to be about the best value place to stay in Canterbury.
- Clive (10/5): Education education education - Making the most of availability of university accommodation before semester starts.
Though away from the city the room gave everything that a hotel room would.
One gripe is the lack of parking though this wasn't a real problem for me as the university wasn't too busy.
Would hope other bodies utilise the opportunity to maximise assets all year round.
Oh also came with breakfast included in the price.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice room just difficult to find - Well, the place was an absolute nightmare to find. Should be better signposted when it is in use as a hotel. The rooms are basically student rooms rented out during summer break. They were nice and clean and had all you needed. Perfect for the price really. Breakfast was good and had a large variety. Would recommend for the price.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - New, fine fine, don't ask for too much, people have busy lives, one word answers ought to suffice
- S (10/5): Perfect stay on a beautiful uni campus! - Beautiful campus, nice walk to the centre and good facilities close to the dorms. Clean, modern and comfortable rooms.
- William (10/5): - Overall excellent .....only one thing was the heat in the room at night ... to hot.
- Lorraine (8/5): Perfect for short stays - Student accommodation was relatively new, in good condition but basic. Kettle with tea, coffee etc but nothing else. Some rooms have toiletries provided but not all? Bed very comfortable and spacious and en-suite bathroom had a great shower. Plenty of wardrobe / drawer space and a full sized desk area for working. WiFi worked well and it was included in the room rate although some drop out in the evenings as the campus filled up. Breakfast was plentiful, welled cooked and varied to suit all tastes. Breakfast room was busy so recommend you go early if possible. Parking is nearby so don't forget to unload the car first and ask for a permit when you book in. Staying again so recommended
- C (8/5): Good as a comfortable base for visiting the area - Rooms are very clean, beds nice and comfortable. It was quiet and we had a relatively good night's sleep.
However! The lighting in the room was very bright and harsh, and the fire alarm right above the bed blinked all night. So not a good choice if you're going on a romantic weekend, or if you're bothered by that type of light while you're sleeping.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Cheap, convenient, comfortable - Cheap, clean, and comfortable accommodation at the university halls of residence. Well connected by regular bus services. Great breakfast included too.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Excellent for the price - Great opportunity to stay in modern and well appointed University of Canterbury student accommodation. My only (minor) issues were a slightly difficult toilet flush, loud fire doors, and unpleasant breakfast coffee. These were more then made up for by the price, modern and clean rooms, free breakfast, and semi-rural surroundings within reach (on foot) of the town centre and (by bus) the coast. In short, the hotel did exactly what I needed it to. I will be planning to return.
- Amy (10/5): Great accommodation! - This was excellent accommodation. The ONLY less than stellar thing I can say is that the mattress was a bit hard. Oh, and the bacon under-cooked at breakfast. Otherwise very good. My son woke up with a fever and the staff were kind enough to let him stay in his room for an additional 2 hours after check out to rest while we explored the city. Very kind of them!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Fantastic place not too far from the city - The campus ground was beautiful and expansive. A wonderful place for relaxation and reflection. There is a bus stop two minutes away from the college. Buses run every eight minutes so very easy to reach the city center which is about ten minutes away. The dormitory building is new and super clean. The free hot breakfast was good and most welcome since there are no restaurants near the hotel. Overall, I had a most pleasant stay here. Btw, the staff were all very courteous and friendly.
- Andrew (8/5): Clean and comfortable with helpful staff. - Room adequate with a desk and TV. The shower was much better than in some hotels, a real walk-in one with space. Breakfast decent though shared with a hundred uni-age kids on holiday courses, all on their iPhones, plus a few other silver hairs.
Initial hiccup on the wifi set-up so I was switched from a Guest to a Kent Uni service at reception. Swipe door keys not easy to use and a bit frustrating.
Staff nice and helpful. Would use Turing again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): weekend get away - all together nice stay
- Kevin (8/5): Good value but ask for a 2nd duvet.. - Good value but bed was hard and uncomfortable- we asked for and got a 2nd duvet to lie on to make it OK.
There were only 5 true parking spaces and we were told the other spaces were for 20 mins unloading only. So we parked at Keynes (a few mins walk) however it appeared other guests randomly parked long term in the unloading bays with no apparent consequences- could be made clearer what the arrangements are.
- Pauline (8/5): Wish my halls had been that luxurious - Positives: Clean, comfy, warm, great shower, kitchen and fridge was handy. Negatives: Parking was a bit of an issue. Had to park in next door college and walk back to Turing. Carrying several bags up to my room with no lift was also not easy.
- philip (10/5): phil Raybould - Good facilities and location . Regular bus service to town and local area.
- Bernard (8/5): Canturburytastic - Very comfortable, catering on site good nice bar, fantastic value for money.
All the staff very friendly and helpful.
- Winston (6/5): - No one cleaned my room
- Verified traveler (6/5): In the middle of nowhere - Nice hotel, but had no where to eat, not close to anything quiet disappointed. So didn't get to do anything while we're there
- Verified traveler (6/5): Would not stay again - No garbage can in the room, the TV doesn't work and the walls were covered with... God knows what. Obviously, there's quite a lot of noise as well (but we were expecting that). I was so happy I only booked 1 night there!
- popi (8/5): Good value - Within walking distance of Canterbury. Room very well equiped telly a bit small and could be put on the wall. Breakfast was good and included in price. Excellent value for money.
- stephen (10/5): Excellent facilities and good breakfast - Hard to find as not on Sat nav. A little way out of town but excellent bus service.
- Holly (10/5): A place to stay inbetween places - A wonderful, clean and comfortable place to stay inbetween 2 other locations. Very good. I had an ensuite room.
- margarita (6/5): Disappointing - Uncomfortable bed / bedding
Small double
Rustling from sheets / mattress whenever you moved
"Student cafeteria" breakfast quality
- M (8/5): My stay at Turing - Stayed at Turing while in Kent on business. Accommodation good value for money, kitchen facility available. Accommodation has easy access into Canterbury.
- Iris (8/5): - I really enjoyed my stay, but with the summer months, it would be advisable to provide fans in all rooms! It was beyond warm on the first night, I took an ice cold shower to cool down and contemplated sleeping under the stars. Second night was more comfortable as the hot summer weather cooled some. Either a fan or a window you can open completely. Having said that, I would stay here again if I could be guaranteed of a fan in the room.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Clean and comfortable - Way too hot. The window barely opened and the the room was very uncomfortable. Had to have the heavy curtains closed at night as no blind or net curtain and could see across into the other block so I knew they would be able to see me.
Everything else was spot on.
- Chew (10/5): Excellent! - This was all we could have asked for, in an overnight stay.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Clean, comfortable lodging at an afffordable price - Clean, modern facilities made my overnight stay a pleasant one.
- Annie (8/5): Short break in Canterbury. - An excellent base for visiting Canterbury and the surrounding area. Buses into Canterbury run every 15 mins to and from the campus late into the evening. It's also easy to get to Dover. There are also some lovely National Trust properties to visit.
- gary (8/5): excellent. - we went just for one night as we were going to the bryan adams concert but we would have gladly stayed longer. good room and lovely breakfast.
- Dave (8/5): well appointed minimal furnishings - Great value - clean and functional, quiet rooms. If you like a firm bed you will not be disappointed.
- teatime (10/5): Great budget stay! - Booked for stay during daughter graduation. Quiet campus lodgings. It was easy to take the bus to town or if one had time, to walk down the hill to town-approx. 20 min. Breakfast was included and had the usual choice + hot items. No AC but a fan was provided in case of warmer weather. Everything was very clean -even got a travel bag with shampoo, conditioner, tissue, etc. A kettle, tea, coffee , spoons , etc. was provided in the room as well.
A few of the towels were really thick and fluffy while others looked a bit aged. Bathroom/shower was sufficient and provided ample room for makeup etc. The two things I did not like was that the bed was a bit hard for my taste and our t.v. never worked the whole 3 days we were there even though we reported it. Overall, would definitely stay again.
- Christopher (10/5): Good location for graduation visit - Free wifi available but connection a little dodgy.
Staff very friendly and helpful.
Electronic door locks were failing during our stay due to batteries running down.
Breakfast excellent (especially as they had black pudding)
- Verified traveler (10/5): - New students accommodation in good condition with good service
- Peter (8/5): Basic but meets needs on University campus - Went to see Giles Brandreth at Gulbenkian Theatre (Highly recommended) on University of Kent campus, outside urban Canterbury and as local Hotels fully booked and this was ten minutes walk away booked Turing College. Expected and got basic for £63 bed and breakfast. Room no frills but all wanted, including tea, coffee etc, double bed, complimentary toiletries, TV, very clean.
Breakfast very filling full English option even down to black pudding, although again no frills. University refectory, filled with conference delegates enthusiastically talking their subject, but to be expected as an alternative during vacation.
Would stay again if visiting event on site.
- Wendy (10/5): - It was ideal place to stay for my daugher and i, for the night prior to the university day.
- Mrs Diana (10/5): "ONE OF THE BEST" - A most pleasant and surprising stay. We were very impressed with the helpfulness and courtesy of the reception ladies on our arrival it was over and above the call of duty by the way in which they made sure we knew where we had tOneo go and the layout of the premises. The two ladies are a credit to their occupation and they both have excellent people skills which is so lacking in many hotels today. We only stayed 1night but it certainly made an enjoyable start to our granddaughters graduation the following day.I would not hesitate to rebook accommodation at this hotel in the future. The ladies who made this possible were in the reception at Kent college.
Thankyou
Diana and Graham Troke
- Andrew (10/5): My stay at Turing college, canterbury - My stay at Turing college was very enjoyable and I would thouAghly re commend it to anyone.i did have to walk to it from the station in Canterbury and it is,it has to be said a good half hours walk, but if you have the time it is a very pleasant walk.the campus is huge with large green areas, and very relaxing.one criticism, and it's the only criticism is that the specific location of Turing college and the reception area where you have to pick the key up and sign in is very difficult to locate and there is no street address.i did ask for a more precise location, upon seeing the map,but just got sent the same map again!! However when I did find the key pick up point the man on reception came and took me to my apartment.he was very helpful.i have to say though, without him I would have been struggling to find it.the room I was staying in was excellent, and I don't say that about many places.indeed it is the best hotel room ive ever stayed in,and was Also one of the cheapest.it was spotlessly clean, and attended to everyday by the cleaners.in fact I felt so much at home, that it felt like a bedroom as opposed to a hotel room.obviously it's immediate surroundings are nothing like you would have in a hotel,I.e.a bar,a lounge, reception area, restaurant, etc, since I am assuming this is in term time an active hall of residence for students??
- JOHN (4/5): rushed into making a few quid whilst uni was on ho - I was dissapointed that the restaurant was still under construction below and was told to go to another 400m away also for breakfast at another college. I would like you to investigate status of hotel as clearly it wasnt up to the standard expected as a paying guest.
