Guest Reviews
- Laurence (8/5): Accommodation in a student hall of residence - I used this accommodation to visit The Open golf at Royal St. George's, Sandwich and by the time I was able to book there was very limited accommodation available in the area. Becket Court is a student hall of residence on the campus of the University of Kent in Canterbury that offers bed and breakfast accommodation during the summer vacation. The accommodation is fairly basic but perfectly adequate for a 6 night stay with an en-suite shower room and very good breakfast and very good value for the price.
- Yifu (10/5): - Very nice place to stay! you can also see the cathedral on the campus. The breakfast is excellent and you can take it like a brunch
- Geoghegan (10/5): Becket court from gloucester - Becket Court exactly suited my needs for this trip which was a bed for the night in a clean and secure surrounding.
- Henning (10/5): - definately recommendable
- M (8/5): - Ideally located for getting into Canterbury
- Mark (8/5): Modern, compact and pleasant. - A clean and tidy modern room in a Halls of Residence building. Cheap and cheerful.
- Gordon (8/5): Modern student accommodation on a lovely campus - Student accommodation on a lovely campus a long walk/short bus ride from town. No lifts or TV, no concierge, no room service. Rooms clean and modern, but definitely a single bed. Rooms have a kettle and there is a kitchen nearby but no cooking or eating utensils. There are a few places to eat on the campus. To check in, you need to go to Eliott College next door. Do not arrive late, getting security out to check you in is not a good start to your stay. Breakfast is at Keynes College, about a minute's walk away - you should get a map when you arrive. Good value for money, in the summer when Canterbury hotel prices are high.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Excellent
- Lovely relaxing environment with lots of nature to enjoy and a pleasant walk into Canterbury City centre
- Verified traveler (8/5): Mixed fortunes. - A few problems at first - accessing the room, broken kettle, locked window - but after all that was sorted had a peaceful night. Breakfast was a bit chaotic as provisions were constantly running out and not being topped up, the bread was frozen, no tea bags, no milk, no juice etc..But with persistence a good breakfast was had. Good value for money in Canterbury in the summer, when it is very expensive. But the Uni campus is green and peaceful and a nice place to stay, out of the hustle and bustle of the city.
- Tim (6/5): Be aware what you're getting - Checkin: After 8pm, you have to call and wait for security to check in. Checkin is centralised, so you likely have to walk some distance find it.
Parking; It's misleading to say there's "free parking" - parking during business hours is charged.
Breakfast: Depends on which hall you get assigned to, but it can be 3-400 metre walk to breakfast. Cooked breakfast is offered, but low quality.
Comfort: There are probably double rooms like in the photo, but you'l likely get a narrow single bed. The mattresses are thin and not great quality.
Location: This is half-hour walk from the town.
- naldrett (8/5): University accommodation with free wifi, does what - Comfortable, clean. A little difficult to find reception but not impossible.
No television, which is absolutely not a problem for me, just mentioning it for others.
Did just what I wanted at a reasonable price, and is very handy for a short drive into Canterbury itself.
Breakfast started to late for me I am afraid (7.45am) so I have to miss out- perhaps if they had a rate without breakfast or opened earlier.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Very comfortable. - Have stayed at Becket many times (much prefer it to the rooms in Keynes and Rutherford)and like the good price, peace and quiet, spacious room, free parking and good breakfast amongst other things. The only niggles are the low water pressure in the shower and the lack of management of the breakfast room. With the latter, there should be designated staff keeping an eye on levels of hot water, bread etc. so they do not run out.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Modern student accommodation - Good student accommodation, efficient check-in, modern rooms but no TV or lift. Cooked breakfast in a nearby college. University is a bus ride or long walk from city centre
- David (10/5): - Clean, well priced for a visit to U of Kent. It's university accommodation, in the middle of the uni. Not near high street, though buses are frequent.
- seyedmehdi (8/5): NC - NC
- James (8/5): Perfect for a short break - Very reasonably priced. Great location, only a 10 minute walk from the station and town center. Would definitely stay again.
- M (8/5): My stay at Becket Court - Good budget accommodation which meet my expectations, Kitchen available for use and comfortable living space. Bathroom met my needs. WIFI was excellent.
- Jill (4/5): Nice room, shame about the temperature - What a shame! For student accommodation, this is lovely. New, plenty of storage, well equipped (no TV, but that was fine with me) and generous breakfast in nice surroundings. Couple of little niggles - no light over by the desk or by the bed, but on the whole really nice room. However, the reason for my rating is that it was like Siberia - I can't remember I slept in a room that was so cold! Usually I am too hot in hotel rooms, but I needed to ask for an extra quilt and work huddled up in the evenings. I left a day early - 3 nights would have been too much to endure. This is such a pity, as it is really well appointed. Even if you don't want to put on the central heating for small numbers, you really need to provide an alternative form of heating.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Nice room, some problems though. - A lovely modern clean room. However, a few problems. Stingy with tea bags (only 2 provided) and milk (three pots only). My room was not made up during the day so when I got back to it at 10pm there was no milk or any tea bags so I could have a hot drink after a long day, also a workman had been in to fix the toilet flush and had trodden on the towels, so I had dirty towels as well. From my room on the second floor there was a lovely view over the town and country but unfortunately the water pressure up there is very poor so only a trickle of water came out of the shower. I did report this last time I stayed at Becket, in April, but evidently nothing had been done to rectify it. A nice breakfast in the pleasant surroundings of the Dolce Vita cafe but the staff there were very offhand and chatting constantly to each other rather than paying attention to keeping up the stocks of plates, orange juice, bread etc. - they could do with a manager being present. There are no lifts in Becket and no porters, so you need to be able to carry your bag to your room and manage stairs.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Cheap accommodation for lots of people - This is just staying in student halls but with less atmosphere. It's a 20 minute walk through a park to town. Lucky I had a car as no options for food after 7 near the accomadation. I checked out after one night.
