Guest Reviews
- Diane (6/5): - Nice location but room needed an update. Very small bathroom and the sink was in the bedroom. We were only informed that no breakfast was available after we checked in even though we had requested breakfast when we booked. Overall disappointed with the hotel.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Staff friendly and helpful warm rooms throughout , great log burners in bar and restaurant , food delicious.

- Verified traveler (8/5): - This is a quaint facility with a wonderful Pub: great food, great drink, great people! It is located in the quiet village about 30 minutes from Edinburgh. It is also close to the Glenkinchie Distillery which is a must visit. It is also close to North Berwick which is a lovely coastal community with great food and gifts.

- Verified traveler (8/5): Great for the money - Suited my needs at the time food ok room ok staff ok would stay again
- Kathrin (8/5): A good little place with the potential to great - I booked 2 rooms last minute to attend a family funeral. It was warm and welcoming, it is an old building with character and food was available until 9.30pm on a Sunday. I chose the twin room(5) as it has a separate shower. The rooms looked very nice and the sherry (not the best!) and chocolates( gorgeous) were a nice touch but the mattresses on all beds were in need of replacement or at best turning and a topper, you could feel all the springs. There was an additional heater in both bedroom, the WiFi code BUT I had to balance the kettle on a magazine on top of the bin at a plug near the door. A socket by the credenza was in the narrow gap to the wall, another was behind the night stand with again no easy access. There was no extractor fan in the bathroom and the window unable to be open as the sash was broken or a spray provided. The shower was a quadrant type cabinet with double doors. Nit-picky maybe but the shower pressure was poor, took a long time to warm to even just usable but never got hot thought it was set at maximum. My husband struggled so much I had to open the doors to wash his back. There was no-where to put shower gel and shampoo etc except the floor which meant bending in the very cramped space. Breakfast was great with a limited selection of cold and juice but good selection of cooked - those that had the full scottish didnt eat much else all day. It was good which is why I'm being so picky, but with a bit of thought it could be great.
- Mark (10/5): Goblin Ha - Enjoyable nice bed great location
- glenda (8/5): - helpful staff lovely location some updating needed on building inside and outside
- Not Provided (10/5): - It is what it is country pub hotel creeky stairs . Excellent staff food and drink . You want Hilton book the Hilton. Good honest friendly
- Peter (8/5): Well Worth A Visit - This is very good choice for anyone who enjoys small Scottish towns located in very fine countryside, while being in very easy reach of all that the Edinburgh, Lothians and The Border region has to offer. We would definitely stay there again, understanding that this is a 200+ year old building and, in all fairness, could benefit from minor cosmetic improvements; a bit of painting, improved lighting - especially on the stairs (I actually fell due to the poor lighting, but no harm done), just a genial 'brightening' of the hotel part of the building could be done for very little money and would step the space without making it too modern. But, a very good effort made by the very friendly and helpful staff made this a fine visit. Thank You - well recommended!
- Mark (8/5): - Great value, great menu and service
- Verified traveler (8/5): An unexpected delight - We didn't know what to expect so we were thrilled with the vilage and the hotel. Something different from the large impersonal hotels. A great experience over three days.
