Guest Reviews
- NABIL (2/5): Le petit déjeuner n'est pas bon. Il n'y a pas beaucoup de choix a part qu'il y a trop de sucre. - le petit déjeuner
- Stephanie (8/5): Wonderful location - Fabulous location to see Iguazu falls
Basic but clean with lovely pool area and grounds
Staff lovely and helpful Basic rooms, need an update especially bathroom
- Stephanie (7/5): Quaint place - Great location, friendly staff, fabulous pool and grounds Needs a do up
- Cheryl (3/5): Stay here as a last resort. - The grounds are lovely and the location to Iguazu National Park was great. The staff was very kind and attentive. The hallways were long, dark and spooky. The hotel itself is old, in disrepair and dirty. The food was stale and unappetizing.
- Nicholas (7/5): Good for the price. - The dinner was a good buffet. Rooms a little basic. Good for the price paid. Breakfast was just sweet bread basically. Internet wasn’t that good.
- Sona (8/5): Very good - Almost noone speaks english which makes communication super dificult.
- Joshua (6/5): I would stay here again if I ever found myself back in the area. I’d give the restaurant a try as well. - I appreciated that the bus was near the bus stop (currently it is $6,000 pesos for a 1 way trip to the falls and to the town or to the airport) and is on the main road to the Iguazu falls park. The complimentary breakfast was good. And there is a pool if you are interested in that. Apparently there is also dinner and lunch at the restaurant (looks like it’s some meats, an array of desserts, and sides. Also burgers and fries) but I didn’t partake (but it looked decent!) looks like there is a menu you can order a la Carte as well. The pool was dirtier than the pictures led to believe, but not too bad that you can’t swim in it. The rooms are dated (but efficient). The breakfast was good (mostly sweet breads, fruit, cheese, ham, cereal), but I recommend coming right when it opens, otherwise flies begin to and on the fruit and make it undesirable. Also, it’s a hotel mostly for Argentine locals and Spanish-speaking South Americans. Not so much for Europeans or North Americans as other hotels on the way are. The hotel is also far from town, but if you come just for the falls, you are fine. It can be hard to get a taxi (photo of a service that advertises In the hotel)
- Andrei (5/5): Passable -
- Cynthia (8/5): Good location, great pool and buffets. Quiet place to rest and relax. Close to the falls and town. - The pool was the best part. It is divided into two parts which is good if you want to be away from the kids. The gardens are very nice and quiet and there are lots of places to lounge around to rest. The breakfast and dinner buffets were good. The staff was very helpful. The taxi drivers at the hotel were especially nice and helpful in taking us anywhere we wanted to go as well as providing important information about the attractions. The rooms were adequate but a little outdated. The locks on the doors were quite hard to deal with. The stores on sight were never open.
- Peter (10/5): Exceptional - Nice hotel with friendly stuff. Thank you ROCIO she help us a lot. Inside they have a taxi, and travel services
- Wang (10/5): Exceptional -
- Krisztian (10/5): Fantastic hotel in Port Iguazu - Great hotel to stay with family. Big, comfortable rooms. Two large swimming pools, plenty of lounge chairs, good pool bar, lots of table games (ping pong, foosball, billiards). Friendly staff and good restaurant on-site.
- Lucy (3/5): Do not stay here! - The beds were a great size and very comfy. The shower was covered in mould and rust and was from a bathroom of horrors. Lots of flies all over the food at breakfast.
- Sarah (1/5): An absolute nightmare ruined our trip to the falls. - Nothing. It was the worst stay do our 6 hotel stay in South America, by far Everything. From the surly, unhelpful staff, tired rooms, curtains that didn’t cover the windows, awful breakfast with stale bread and processed tasteless meats and cheese.
- Vicky (9/5): Superb -
- Paula (4/5): Disappointing - Location was good for access to the falls. Public bus collects from outside on the road. I checked out 2 days early. Wasn’t very clean and really noisey. Breakfast was poor.
- Olga I (6/5): - Todo excelente exepto el baño.
- Eleanor (7/5): Good value for money, good location for the Iguaza national park - Concentration is definitely on the public areas, that is the pools, surrounding bar and restaurant.
There is lots of space around the pool and decent seating. With a good lively vibe.
The breakfasts were quite good with fruit, ham and cheese and lots of different pastries and cakes.
There appeared to be a dinner buffet but we didn't use it. The room was very basic, though it did have everything we needed Aircon and a fridge. Just hasn't been updated or redecorated in a while.
- Jessica (8/5): Great place to stay when doing Iguazu Falls - Great location, so close to the falls. Restaurant was great and pool was great. Helpful staff to get taxis and to visit the falls or to go across the border Nothing
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional -
- Marina (6/5): Pleasant -
- Edward (8/5): Very good -
- Walter (8/5): Very good -
- Catherine (5/5): A cheap hotel in a good location. - The pool was delightful and the staff friendly and helpful. The room had a horrible smell and th decor needs updating.
- Sheila (8/5): Brilliant overnight stay - We spent one night here waiting for a flight from the nearby airport.
The staff were totally brilliant. Special mention to the wonderful lady in the office who let is take over her computer to try to book a flight after ours was cancelled. The fantastic evening receptionist who had his elderly dog with him. He let us keep our room all day till our flight left at no extra charge.
The location is good for the national park and airport and there is a taxi office on site too.
The pool was an added bonus and having a restaurant on site was great after a long journey..
We paid £35 bed and breakfast for 2 people which is hard to beat. It isn't sleek and modern and its fraying abit around the edges, but we loved our stay. Thank you Hotel Carmen. With such a short stay, it's hard to say anything we didn't like. It could with some updating but it was quite charming as it is.
- Rekha (5/5): Passable - On arrival was allotted a room which was definitely not an upgrade as mentioned in the voucher the lady at the front desk in the morning was borderline rude and assured me that was the best she could do...... very unacceptable... in the afternoon the lady at the reception was far more obliging after we showed her the stained towels broomstick in the bathroom and torn bed sheets and duvets gave is a duplex room Definitely should be removed from your list
- Luisa (9/5): Superb -
- Laurie (6/5): - Good lord cation for proximity to airport and falls. Property has lovely wooden chairs and tables in the lobby area. Our beds were comfortable. On the down side, the bathroom shower was not clean and there was a large roach type bug in the bathroom.
- Gabriele (3/5): Poor - The staff was welcoming and provided useful information on the surroundings.
Outside facilites ok. Our room was in very poor condition. It is understandable that the structure is old, but the rooms need to be maintained and tidy. A few examples: the door to the balcony cannot be closed (about 1 finger gap), the bathroom was not properly cleaned and the towels were so old and stained (see photos). For the price paid this is unacceptable.
- Luiz (5/5): Passable - The hotel pool and breakfast were great. The leisure structure was great! Room was dirty and there was even a banana peel on the floor when we entered. We found a cockroach in the room.
- Olga (4/5): Disappointing -
- Rock (9/5): Superb -
- Max (6/5): Pleasant - Good buffet breakfast and helpful staff Didn't feel clean and had a strong damp smell
- Olga (8/5): Great value for money and one-day stay - Near the National park and airport, helpful staff Pure breakfast, old furniture
- Julie (10/5): Will stay there again! - Staff was really great! Great breakfast. Nice bar area! They have taxis there at the hotel that were great also. 10 stars for sure! Bedding is a little outdated but not a problem.
- Catalina (9/5): Superb -
- Kathleen (7/5): Great location, close to falls - The breakfast buffet was very large with many different delicious sweet breads. The staff were exceptional! The pool/outdoor bar area were nice. Comfortable beds. The rooms are very basic but they had all we needed.
- Zahra (6/5): - The beds were old and there was mold and dust in the bathroom, and there was a strange artificial smell in the rooms most of the time. The staff did not provide towels for the bathroom when you got there and you had to ask for them but otherwise the staff were friendly and responsive to any issues. The complimentary breakfast provided was pretty good, and the dinner options were OK. Overall the facility could use some renovations and a good cleaning.
- Tomi (9/5): Superb - Nice stay, surprised by a free buffett dinner. Quite old furniture, average breakfast.
- Lisa (8/5): Very good -
- Gheorghe (9/5): Very good -
- Sunny (2/5): would never stay there again. pictures were very deceiving. - msotly friendly staff, good location really old and dilapidated rooms, really tacky bedding and sloped mattresses, rooms smelled really toxic (probably the disinfectant they used) and gave us a headache, food at restaurant really mediocre and had lots of fruit flies the first breakfast we were there for, my inlaws’ bathroom toilet was leaking all over the floor and their shower dripped all night despite tightening the faucet (i booked two rooms), AC and bathroom fan switch old and made rickety sounds when on, our night light on one side wasn’t working.
- Jamil (10/5): Exceptional -
- Terry (8/5): Simple, clean, good value - This is a simple hotel, used mainly by Argentinians. It is not the Hilton, so don't expect such like. It is very good value for money. Staff are not English speaking so communication regarding tours etc not so easy. Need to learn more Spanish !! There is a tour/taxi desk in the foyer, but prices expensive, so we used local buses, the stop is near the hotel. No tea making facilities in room unfortunately.
- Jan (8/5): Very good - Great for families. Big pools. Nice staff. Great beds. Noise in adjacent rooms. Facilities not kept up, but I was still comfortable.
- Ruth (10/5): Exceptional -
- Paul (6/5): cheap and very basic but worth it if you just want somewhere to crash. - close to iguazu falls, very cheap and cheerful. very basic, the lighting in the room was bad… too bright and invasive. location is good for the falls but its about 30 min walk into the iguazu town and it was a thunderstorm so didnt have option to just walk for a nice meal, felt a bit isolated.
- Steven (4/5): Cheap but probably not great value considering the bathroom. - The Pool area and the gardens were lovely. The common areas were rustic but nice. Staff were lovely and helpful. It was clean. The room was a little rough round the edges having not been decorated for a long time. The bathroom was falling apart. The tap on the sink leaked so a trickle went into the sink and the rest went all over the worktop soaking the towels. The shower taps leaked when not in use and the toilet wasn’t fixed to the floor.
- Juan (10/5): hermoso lugar ! súper recomendable - la piscina
las instalaciones todas en general
súper recomendable
- Virginia (9/5): Superb -
- Francisca (8/5): Very good -
- Louise (4/5): - - - Sheets and towels were not clean, full of stains and yellow.
the room was filled with ants, all over the walls and even full of them in the bed.
- Pedro (3/5): NOT CLEAN - swimming poll was good sheets were dirty. water was dirty. towels were dirty.
- Ji (10/5): A nice hotel close to Iguazu falls - I like hotel location and food service.
- Perez (8/5): Very good -
- Andres (7/5): Good -
- Alejandra (8/5): very comfortable - breakfast x
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Quiet, close to city center, staff very helpful. My room is clean.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nos gustó mucho las piscinas..muy buena la atención.de todas la personas..el comedor.y todo en general
- JC (8/5): - The property is outside of the town of Puerto Iguazu, but easily reachable to the town, the waterfalls and the border areas. The breakfast was really good with sufficient options, and we had a good inexpensive dinner there once too. The downsides are that the wifi does not reach the rooms (you have to be in the lobby, restaurant or pool area) and the pool itself, although big and nice-looking, was kind of dirty and off-putting. Despite those negatives, the price can't be beat, the rooms were rustic but comfortable and my family and I would stay there again.
- mojo (4/5): - Nice pool, but run down hotel and poor state of rooms.
- Joelson Jose (2/5): - Infelizmente este hotel tem que ser fechado e reformado inteiro
Nao temsolucao
E uma pena
Obs wifi nao existe !!!!!!
- Airton (2/5): - Pelo site parecia bom.... Mas o hotel está muito antigo... Muito mau conservado.... Quarto mau cheiroso...
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Przesympatyczni i pomocni pracownicy hotelu, fajna atmosfera
- Krista (2/5): Hieman homeinen, tyhjä lähistö, likainen - Ensivaikutelma aulasta ok. Sijainti meluisan ison tien varressa. Tosin putouksille pääsy helppoa. Mitään ei ole kävelymatkan päässä. Koko rakennuksessa kostea haju. Kylppäristä löytyi homepilkkujakin. Sängyt narisi. Huoneesta tarttui vaatteisiin kosteuden haju. Kylpyhuoneen viemäri ei vetänyt kunnolla. Hotelli melkoisen likainen kaikenkaikkiaan.
- Metronome (6/5): Base from which to experience both sides of Iguazu - My expectations were managed having read some of the less positive reviews from others about this hotel. For me however, I was perfectly happy with my two nights here. All the staff I interacted with were patient with my poor Spanish skills and always helpful. I would certainly suggest this hotel to friends as a place from which to explore Iguazu Park and the Falls.
- fernando paz (6/5): not recomended - The hotel is old, same thing with bed sheets.. Very noisy, you can hear everything that was happening in other rooms. Breakfast simple but acceptable! Pool dirty! Overall expensive for a very basic "hotel".....not recomended..
- Verified traveler (4/5): No Bueno! - I chose this hotel because it supposedly had a spa and airport shuttle. It has neither. It is very far from town and they attempted to charge me for my stay until I insisted that the booking website has charged me and I'm not paying twice. The front desk staff told me upon checkin that there is a shuttle that would come at 12. They watched me sit in the lobby from 10 AM (checkout time), the shuttle came after 2PM for a 3:30 PM flight. In Argentina you are supposed to be at the airport 2 hours before your flight. I must have asked 10 times from10 to 2 if the shuttle was coming. Towards the end I was convinced I was on a special bus that gives me some sort of individualized treatment because of the wait but instead it was the same shuttle that hits all hotels on the way to the airport for 90 pesos. I was shocked when I was asked for money since I thought shuttle service was included before booking. Furthermore at dinner I asked for a glass of wine, I am one person sitting alone at one small table eating by myself. The server uncorked a new bottle of wine and placed it on the table, I inquired about the whole bottle as I only requested a glass and he acted confused. I love wine but a whole bottle for one person late at night was a bit much to assume. I again had to have an entire dialogue about how I wasn't paying for an entire bottle of wine when I ordered one glass. I'd avoid this money trap at all cost.
- John (8/5): Visit to Iguazu Falls - This hotel is dated but frankly, relative to other hotels in the area, it was a bargain. The hotel is located off the main highway and is conveniently located. the hotel room was clean and safe. Staff was friendly and they washed our clothing without additional charge. Breakfast was a buffet and the food was mediocre but certainly plentiful. Lounge and bar area was comfortable but WIFI worked only in lobby. A good value for those who don't want to lounge around in a luxury hotel.
- Barry (10/5): Bargain in surprisingly spendy Iguazu area - Carmen was a great find for our brief stay near Iguazu Falls. Carmen is an older, rustic hotel with an inviting entrance and spacious interior & dining room. It is located on a main road where buses regularly stop to pick up tourists for the short drive to Iguazu Falls.
My family (including an infant) found the beds to be comfortable and the front desk staff to be extremely friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious, comfortable and quiet. The only negative is that the shower had some mold growing, could have used a new curtain and a little more cleaning. Breakfast was included with the price of the room (a bargain), and the dinner buffet was large and tasty with decent service from the waitstaff.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this hotel for bargain hunters & families.
