Guest Reviews
- Kamini (10/5): - The location was awesome, the reception gentleman was super helpful an d the room was really clean. Don't let the rundown, but charming, outside fool you. A great place to stay.
- Rachel (10/5): Hidden gem. Will stay here again. - This is a hidden gem. Yes, it was outdated BUT given that I started coming to Tahoe in the early 80s, I actually really appreciated the older vibe. When I arrived the keys (actual keys) were waiting for me on the office and I was able to let myself in. I loved that. The room was tidy and clean. This place is DIRECTLY across from one of the last open access beaches on the north side of the lake AND it was right next door to several great dining options. I also loved that the 7/11 was next door so I could easily get drinks and snacks. As someone who loves to run, it was easy to find a trail in the neighborhood behind the lodge. Lastly, I loved the homey vibe. It was perfect for me as a solo traveler but I could also stay here with my husband and dogs.
- Austin (8/5): - The location is nearly perfect! The rate was incredible. The only thing that wasn’t ideal was the lack of A/C but we knew that going in. The service was great. The room was nice and clean. Literally across the street from the lake shore and a little park. Would definitely recommend!
- Sandra (4/5): - There wasn't an ice machine. The toilet chain broke the first day. The pillows and beds were hard and flat. There were ants in the bathroom and the shower was small. The owner was nice and fixed the toilet right away.
- Evan (4/5): - Close to beach and restaurant.
- Mari (6/5): - Great little place to stay for the night. Only downside was there wasn’t an AC/fan in the room.
- Gunnar (8/5): - Weather was amazing, and the room was nice and comfortable. I only stayed one night, but it was a good experience, would recommend.
- Angela (8/5): Pretty good deal, for the area - I liked that it was in a really nice area, the beach was right across the street and was not busy. The room was pretty clean. It wasn’t the nicest place but I slept pretty comfortable, I wish they had ac . Overall I think for the price it was reasonable and we would actually go back . Thanks.
- Jennifer (6/5): - This property is in serious need of an upgrade. The furniture is from the 70s, the carpet needs removing, the blinds hadn’t been dusted in a long while, there is no AC or coffee pot, flat pillows, and clearly there had been bugs in the bathroom that got sprayed as they were still there stuck to the floor. The Expedia picture is very misleading. The exterior isn’t cute wooden and warm -it’s worn dorm and hasn’t been painted in many years. When I arrived, the keys to my room were in an envelope with my name on it on the door of the office and they are actual keys - not key cards. It’s great that you can walk across the street to the lake and we really only needed place to sleep so I guess it worked in that regard and it was cheaper for summer Tahoe prices but def not what I expected for $130 a night.
- Terry (6/5): - Pretty old property and pretty old amenities in room.
- William (4/5): - The room was old and dirty needs re model
- Cindi (6/5): - The location was awesome. It was affordable. You get what you pay for.
- Najeeb (2/5): - Not
- Tanya (6/5): Great price & location - We needed a one night stay quick and this very reasonably priced place popped up and had one availability for the night we needed so I booked online. This place is small but centrally located and right across the street from Gar Woods, great restaurant. All said, nothing fancy at all. No blow dryer, no ironing board. Just very simple. Needs a remodel and paint job. The beds were comfortable. We are in our mid 60’s and I think younger folks would do well in a place like this b/c the price was very good. Oh, the man working at the desk was very nice.
- James (8/5): Cozy & inexpensive - Musician staying in town for a wedding gig. Place was cozy...a little traffic noise but worked well for us.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Simple motel, great location. - Great location, close to lake access, restaurants and 7-11. The room was basic. Thin walls, could hear the neighbor snoring all night. Never got the wifi to work.
- Sara (4/5): - Only redeeming qualities are location and price. Arrived to check in and there was nobody to check in with. Phone calls went unanswered. Other people were waiting too. Waited around for 30 minutes and someone renting a room felt sorry for us and gave us the cell phone number for the person who works tje office, but no answer. An hour and a half after arriving, we finally get a call. Finally get a room and immediately regret it. Bathroom had ants and a funky smell (like cat pee). TV didn't work. No ac so the only way to get air moving is the window. Pillows were flat and musty. Thank goodness it was only one night.
- Julia (10/5): - Great!
- Robert (10/5): - Just what I needed.
- Albert (10/5): - Excellent mountain motel.
- Shahrier (10/5): - Awesome location. Public beach right across street. 7/11 right next door. This’ll be my go to spot going forward.
- Michael (2/5): - Worse stay ever
- Patty (8/5): - Close to music venue. Hotel has seen better days but for the cost during 1high ski season. Lived through it
- Lee (6/5): Great value - Great value! Really liked the size of the place, would definitely stay again (though if you have a dust allergy/are sensitive, you'll definitely feel it, the place was clean but a friend with dust problems was coughing all night)
- Julia (10/5): - Ed was very friendly and welcoming upon arrival. The room was much bigger than we expected, and had a microwave and mini fridge. It's right across from a public beach and pier which was beautiful, there is also a restaurant. We also enjoyed the cafe down the street for breakfast. Great proximity to Northstar, we will definitely stay here again!
- Clarise (2/5): - I couldn’t get to the hotel, because of the snowstorm, and I tried to contact the hotel and I tried to contact Expedia, and there was no possible way to contact either of you. I was so frustrated. I just gave us and paid the price, but it was very very disheartened. There were phone numbers and always. I got with an endless ringing phone and no possibility of leaving a message and Expedia has no way absolutely no way to reach them. I’m done with both.
- Rogelio (8/5): - Mid… prepare to be uncomfortable and adjust expectations. You are looking at this place because of location, price point and availability. We just made it work.
- Myles (4/5): - This is an old basic motel. It appears to be a one person operation. And that person does their best to assist. That said, the beds are somewhere between firm and rock hard. On 2 occasions get hot water required a call to the front desk. Our shower moved back and forth between cool and too hot. Location is good. Across from the Lake and Garwoods
- olivia (4/5): - .
- Robin (8/5): Old motel - Check in guy was friendly, but this is a rundown motel. It could easily be improved to make it a better guest experience. The mattresses need to be replaced as they were thin and umcomfortable. With a small amount of money, this place could be so much better.
- mohd osman (10/5): - Close to everything clean and safe
- CHIHCHUN (8/5): - The property is pretty old but things are still functional. There is a 7-11 right next to it and access to a beautiful beach across the road.
- Catherine (8/5): - room was prefect for what I needed. Quick trip to the lake, quick check in and out. Room was clean, tile floor, outdated bathroom (whatever it’s fine)
Thank you
- Kathleen (2/5): - The carpet was filthy. The room smelled like cat urine. Needed to open the windows to dissapate the smell. The tv required 2 remotes to work. The picture shown does not represent the shape this motel is in. I would not recommend this place for the price paid or the experience.
- John (2/5): - I wish I had paid better attention to reviews before I made this reservation. The shag carpeting had a bad mildew smell. Room was unuseable. My girlfriend said she would rather be homeless than sleep here. This Motel should not be made available on your site. It gives your app a big black eye.
- Scott (10/5): - Location!
- Evan (8/5): - Overall, we had a good experience here. The lodge is strategically located in Carnelian Bay, where we could have a beautiful view of Tahoe just with a 5 minutes walk. There were also convenient store and laundry nearby. The only downside was the slight smell of the old property, and the place could feel quite stuffy in summer.
- Ronda (8/5): - The location was convenient for our needs..I do think the rooms need an upgrade..seem out of date... Beds were comfortable though...
- Elizabeth (10/5): First time in Tahoe - Rather retro, but the owner is super friendly. He met us when we arrived. The room is old but has everything we need. Lake Tahoe beach and an upscale restaurant are right across the street.
- Colleen (8/5): - Manager very nice. Room was clean. Lake view.
- Danielle (10/5): - Went with our kids. It was quiet and a big room for us 4. We had a great trip and will be ba k
- Jessica (4/5): - The property, bedding and furniture inside are old but it’s not filthy.
I had an unsafe feeling over the property and the property’s area
- David (8/5): - This property is not upscale but my stay was fine. Room was clean, hot water hot, and mattress acceptable. It was substantially less expensive than anything near it. It is at a busy intersection for near lake front property so there was some road noise during the night, but the place was better than I expected and much better than I feared it could have been.
- Steve (10/5): - Nice affordable hotel
Surprising comfortable bed
- Michael (8/5): - Dated property, could use some TLC, but that’s common in Tahoe. Parking was a squeeze. Host was helpful and checking was efficient. The room was quiet but nothing fancy. Fine for our one-night stay.
- Marty (2/5): - Expedia, you shoukd be ashamed to represent this dump. I arrived to check in and office was closed. I called emergency # and left a message. 45 minutes later i xalled again and left a message. Neither call was returned. Drove back to property and owner said " sorry i was skiing".
My room was disgustingly filthy. I can forward pic's. All furniture dated, holes in sheets, kitchen area was filthy, no outlets to charge phone near bed and shower pan was cracked with obvious mold issues.
I have stayed in tbird world countries with cleaner rooms. I slept a few hours with my clothes on as afraid to touch anything and departed before the sun came up as my asthma had me coughing from the lack of common cleanliness!
The only reason this motel recieved 1 star is that the water was hot and although there was no face towel the bath towel was clean and fresh!.
- Alex (8/5): - nice public park with small beach and BBQ area right across the street
- Alexcis (10/5): Just Right - Clean, Comfortable, Convenient - My family and I stayed here for a weekend ski trip to Northstar and it was everything we needed. The room was very clean and much larger than I thought it would be. The beds had a ton of blankets, with extras available "just in case". The heater worked amazing and the in-room coffee was offered in actual coffee cups, which was a pleasant surprise. The wifi was strong and free.
Ed at the front desk was friendly, prompt and he had great recommendations for places to eat in the area and things to do. The hotel is SUPER conveniently located. It took us 13 minutes to get to Northstar in the morning, which is hard to beat. There is a cute local bistro a 3 minute walk which was great for dinner and the Old Post Office Cafe (great breakfast!!) is a 6 minute walk. If you want something fancier, Gar Woods Grill is right across the street.
The best part about the hotel is the view. It is right across the street from the lake. We opened the curtains to our room and watched the sun rise over the lake. It was amazing. I'd stay here again, just for that.
It is an older hotel and it has not been updated in long time. If you are looking for frills or a fancy hotel room, this is not the place for you. If you want a clean, comfortable room, this is it. My only issue was that the pillows are very flat. Easy solve to either double up or bring your own.
The hotel was everything we needed and we will be back.
- Gabriel (10/5): - Great!
- JOHN (4/5): - Absent ANY service, it is a Very old and poorly kept up establishment not at all worth what they are charging. The beds were extremely worn out and uncomfortable. The carpet in the room was disgusting and the trash cans had very old stains and even torn. What a joke.
- Tiernan (10/5): - Eddie was very nice
- JoAnn (8/5): Dog friendly space and place - Great location for a stay with our dog. Right across the street from a dog friendly park where she could swim. Nice amenities. Large space making it comfortable to have our dog. Older property that with some attention, deep cleaning, and care could be a real stellar place. Loved the shower. Bed, which wasn’t very comfortable, had a plastic bag under sheets which was annoying every time we moved around—most likely to protect from pets. Extensions to the plug behind the bed could make it easier to charge devices. Great potential! Bargain price. We’d stay again.
- Tyson (8/5): Surprisingly not as bad as I thought it might be! - The motel is older, and definitely "no-frills" but the rooms are very large and relatively affordable. Though decor is dated, room/bathroom/sheets were all very clean. I would consider it a good "crash-pad" for those focused on other activities and just need a spot for the night.
- Philip A (4/5): - We never had hot water in the shower or sink. It never got better than luke warm!
- Douglas (2/5): - One word - GHETTO
Little tiny TV doesn’t work
One plastic hanger
Pillows look like Folsom prison rejects
No lighted signage for guidance
Keys taped to the office door
WiFi password illegible on a recycled post it
Musty smelling room
- Olivia (10/5): - The owner was really helpful and accommodating to an early check in. Rooms were clean. The building is old but overall it was great at the price point.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Need to work on (upgrade) this property. - The picture in the add is deceiving It may have looked like that when it was first built.
The room was tidy but dingy.
The bed linens were clean but mismatched.
The toilet wobbled and the toilet seat was worn. The shower pan was filthy. The baseboards and caulking around the sink looks like it was applied by someone inexperienced.
I didn’t/wouldn’t use the kitchen area. It just did not not look sanitary. There was an old sponge on the back of the sink and the coffeemaker was stained.
The place did not look like it had been upgraded since the 1950’s.
I would not stay here again.
- Kendall (6/5): - Really nice location, walking distance to a public beach only about 2000 yards! I remember staying here 30 years ago. Great memories.
- Maksym (2/5): - No one on the reception.
- Miguel (6/5): - Rooms are incredibly outdated and dirty
- Beverly (2/5): Not someplace you want to stay. - Worst place I’ve ever stayed in. Handle on the toilet fell off. Had to remove lid and stick hand in disgusting tank. The shower was rusted and didn’t look particularly clean. No showers for us. We could hardly wait to leave the next morning. It was cheap, but I will gladly pay more to stay in a decent place.
- Dan (8/5): - Good location for no nonsense room for a reasonable cost.
- Jaclyn (8/5): - Very happy with my stay. Affordable. Nice location. The man who checked me and was very kind. Room was clean. I could see the water from my window. That was cool. Would stay here again if I visit the area.
- Anthony (8/5): - Good location. Nice nearby walking path by the lake.
- Jeana (6/5): - This was a perfect room for an extremely reasonably price for our overnight stay. It is literally right across the street from the lake. The room was clean it was perfect for my daughter and I.The owner was very friendly and helpful.
- Thais (10/5): - We loved to stayed at the place! Everything was great
- vernon (8/5): - Good and helpful staff.
- Kevin (2/5): - The room was gross the toilet and shower had a curtain separating each the beds were old as discussing would recommend it be shut down and remodeled
- Richard (8/5): Great value for the area - This place is older, the furniture is worn and the decor is dated BUT it’s a clean room with a bed to sleep on at a decent price for the area. Now let’s talk about the area…
Right across the street from a beautiful, quiet public beach.
You cannot beat the location.
- Sandy (10/5): - Always a nice place to stay in the perfect spot
- Doug (10/5): - Staff was polite and accommodating and room was very clean.
- Mitesh (2/5): DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL - I would never go back here and will never recommend this hotel to anyone. The description said that the reception is open until 9pm and asked me call them in advance and make arrangements if planning to reach after 9pm. I reached the hotel at 8:53pm and I saw that the reception was already closed and my room keys were hanging on the door in an envelop. Hotel has only enough spots for parking cars. Due to some part covered by ice, other cars were not parked at perfect spots and no space was available to park the car. After entering the room, observed that one out of 2 lamps did not had a bulb and other did not had a power socket to connect to turn it on. The bedsheet on one of the beds was having stains.
- Sara (2/5): A bad situation that got resolved - When we got to the hotel it was 11:30pm. Ed, the host of the hotel had left a key for us.
We were tired and were looking forward to go to bed but we couldn’t as the bed had dog hair everywhere and the floor was dirty.
I called the host until he answered and once he checked the room, he was shocked and apologetic for the situation.
He immediately changed the sheets and cleaned the floor. After that all went well. The bathroom was cleaned and overall the room was decent. I was impressed by his responsiveness and gentleness.
- Joaquin (10/5): - This was an easy and convenient location to stay at while preparing to hit the slopes.
- Krzysztof (6/5): - I like kitchen in my room so I could prepare my own meals.
I didn't like parking lot with snow not being removed. There is not much to do around the property and with being snowed in not able to drive to nearby places.
- Anthony (8/5): - Nice basic accommodations. Good value for the area.
- Pranjal (6/5): - The checkin process was smooth
- Kari (10/5): - Ed was a great host. The rooms were very cute, cleans & perfectly equipped for a stay in Tahoe. Great vibes - will be staying there again.
- Anthony (8/5): - Good price, convenient location
- Joseph (10/5): I will definitely stay again. - This is an amazing out of the way type of place. I loved it. It’s a bit old an clunky and they need to do a better job with snow removal. However, quiet and inexpensive, across the street from probably the best restaurant in Tahoe. Slept like a baby. Concierge Mr. Star (Black Lab) may be the nicest dog on the planet. A 711 right next door for when you run out of beer:-)… Bring your snow boots! Public beach right across the street. Peek a boo views of the lake across the street from the hotel.
- Christy (10/5): - Good location and friendly staff
- Chris (4/5): - Old, which I like, and dirty but price is right and bed was comfortable.
- Romy (6/5): - The location is awesome and so is the price! but compared to other budget motels you really get what you pay for. The walls are paper thin and the room I had had virtually no power cables. Dude that runs it is nice though.
- Dustin (2/5): - Upon checking into our room we were greeted by having blood on the sheets and a used razor in the shower. It appeared the beds were made but that the bedding wasn’t clean or washed. Also the room smelt terrible.
- Roxanna (8/5): - The refrigerator didn’t work.
- Edward (10/5): - Kitchenette with supplies.
- adam (8/5): - good location - hot water could be better - got hot but would go in and out
- Rick (6/5): - The only good thing was Garbs a restaurant and bar across the street! bad thing barbaque and area were nasty would not recommend
- Kevin (8/5): - Owner, Ed, was great. He did everything. One man band. The room was rustic. It had a microwave, fridge, and table. ADA shower and chair. It was not a modern room but that’s to be expected from a rustic motel. Picnic table, bbq, and electric frypan present. Adjacent to the 7/11 convenience store open 24/7! Right across from the beach! The only negative is no AC, just a fan. No bueno on the hottest of summer eves, which was during our stay, of course. Otherwise, great location and value.
- Arlen (8/5): Cheap in tahoe - This stay was business only. I didnt try the wifi, the beds were super hard and when we checked in we qere told the only rooms available had no working tv. Not bad for something cheap in tahoe though to be honest.
- Philip (8/5): - If your looking for someplace to stay on a Budget this is it, for me it had great water pressure and the water was hot, the TV and remote worked even had ESPN2
For F1 race on Sunday. Right next to a 7-11 to get coffee at 6 am also has a kitchenette if you want to make it yourself and a park and beach across the street on Lake Tahoe and a excellent Bar and restaurant next to it. A for if you can overlook it’s not new and perfect.
- Richard (2/5): - Nothing
- Mark (4/5): - The only positive thing I can say about this lodge is that it was the only one available that weekend under $300 and it was close to the beach. Besides that, everything beyond disappointing. Hotel room is outdated 30 years. We entered using an actual key, not a plastic card. The hotel room had webs in every corner of the room and bathroom. We had to kill multiple spiders. Had to hold down the toilet handle 7 seconds to fully flush. The shower head from the 90s sprayed as if it was hooked to a fire hydrant. Refrigerator had stickers from previous occupants or unprofessional owners. It also had left over ice in the freezer. Walls had many paint touch ups completely a different color of original paint. And to top it off, no air conditioning in the place, had to leave the windows open all night. If it was an option to get another room, I still wouldn't have agreed, given that there is only 8 rooms and all were booked. Took pictures of everything. I wouldn't stay here again even if it was free.
- Derek (6/5): - The hotel is located across the road from the lake and close to trails, big plus!
You can hear road noise and your neighbors TV. The carpet is old and worn. The beds are ok. If I travel to the area again I’ll probably use AirBNB instead.
- carlos (4/5): - No noises from next door unit
- Eric (2/5): Pretty awful - The room was old, run down, and reeked of mildew.
- Kerry (8/5): - Clean and Bang for the Buck.
- Michael (6/5): - It's a basic, bare bones old-school Tahoe motel property. It was clean and the owner was very nice and attentive. The other reviews about the thin walls are all true. Unfortunately, the first night two guys next door rambled in at 1AM playing music and talking and it sounded like they were in the room with me. So, be warned both if you're a light sleeper AND if you talk a lot - your neighbors will hear EVERY word. I know more about these two strangers than I care to. ;)
Other than that ,it was fine - 7-Eleven and CB's Bistro is a great lunch/dinner spot right next door. Great access to the lakefront across the hwy.
- Sarah (8/5): Great basic motel - This was exactly what we were looking for, a clean, basic room to crash in after a day on the slopes. I would definitely stay here again. The location was great, we could walk across the street to the little beach on the lake where we saw a stellar sunrise, there's a fancy restaurant there as well, and next door is CB's Bistro for decent burger/pizza/beer type of food, plus a 7-11 for convenience items. Ed, the owner, was incredibly friendly and welcoming. The room had a microwave and mini fridge, and a small table and two chairs, which is nice to have for cheap trips and bringing some of your own food. Heater was quiet and kept the room toasty during a cold snap as well. Tools in the parking lot to help clean snow off your car was a nice touch.
I didn't love the whole-room-shower but it was fine, no problems with hot water for us. One of the beds was WAY softer/saggier than the other but luckily it was just the two of us so we could pick the firm bed, but the other would have probably been uncomfortable. And yes the walls are thin. Luckily our neighbors went to bed at a reasonable hour so it was not a problem at all, but I could see it being annoying if people are up all night partying.
- Kim (6/5): - We didn’t get the chance to stay at the Tahoe north shore lodge, we have problem with our car, and didn’t get to the lodge, too bad and it was too late to cancel the room. Maybe next time.
