Not having a dog yet but contemplating getting one, I had all the experience of being around dogs and talking to their owners. Walking in the hallways was such fun to get to pet them and play around a little. Recommending to all my dog parents for sure!
- Kelly (4/5): - Our room was noticeably damp, despite there being a dehumidifier running in the room the entire time we were there. I’ve never stayed at a hotel with dehumidifiers in the guest rooms. Unsure what the cause of the excess moisture, but it made the stay unpleasant.

- Robert (6/5): - My check-in experience was not as I expected. I placed my reservation on March 25, 2025. I wanted two (2) queen-size beds but, they were not available. I liked the reviews of the hotel so accepted a reservation for 1 king-size bed and a queen-size pull-out bed. I was told that I was the first person on a waiting-list and would be given the next room with two (2) queen-size beds that became available. I called the hotel approximately ten (10) days before our arrival and was told that nothing had changed. At check-in we were informed that nothing had changed. We were also informed that all the hotels in the area were filled. We were on a “Grandparents Camp” with two grandchildren to take a bike tour of Washington Island and Peninsula State Park. While in Door County we would also take-in the local sites so – we accepted the 1-king-size room that we reserved. After we were settled in our room, I checked your Expedia website and found that there were eight (8) rooms with two (2) queen-size beds available. I took screen-shots of these pages from your site for future reference. The hotel, staff members and quests were great but, my back still aches from sleeping on that queen-side pull-out bed. I expected better. rlw

- Lindsey (10/5): Just stay here - I will 100% stay here again bc of all the details that they added to make the stay more comfortable. They go above and beyond which is not common in hotels in my opinion. They have a common room with plates and silverware all day long, they give a ton of towels in your room, there’s 2 person sauna, hot tub, heated pool, fitness center, games, and a couple fire pits and plenty of comfortable seating outside. Everyone was so nice and accommodating.

I called the hotel after booking and asked if it was okay to check in in the early morning. They said that was fine they left instructions at the front desk for us on arrival since no receptionist is there late night. We arrived in the early morning at 2am and the instructions and key were left like it was supposed to be! Definitely would stay next time we are there!

- ANIKA (8/5): - Like every other hotel in Door County, this is just an old, tired, stuck in the past lodge BUT CLEANER and better maintained than most of the rest. Very friendly people/ front desk. It seems no room service will fix the bed or clean the room everyday if you are there for a couple of days - unless asked, I guess???

At night you can count on the gas firepit to be on for all to enjoy. There is one in the front too. Fun to hit the hot tub after a good shopping day. Good Breakfast with pancakes and Door County flavored coffee available all day. Just a few reasons why we keep on going back.

- Gale (10/5): Great place to stay. - The breakfast was a little sparse, otherwise very pleasant stay. The pool was slightly cool, but we enjoyed it. The hot tub was slightly hotter than I like, but I stayed for five minutes. The fire pit seemed to keep the May flies away.
- Lynn (10/5): - This family owned resort is truly wonderful and full of relaxing areas around various fireplaces indoors and out. The pool and hot tub were wonderful! The continental breakfast was great. The best part was the staff who were friendly and helpful as they knew the peninsula very well! I would recommend this resort to everyone looking for a get-away!

- Victor (10/5): Great laid-back lodge - Open Hearth Lodge is an awesome place to stay. The entire staff is great!!! There's gas fire pits that are lit every night. Cornhole is available. It's an awesome place to stay!

- Elizabeth (10/5): You're foolish if you don't pick this lodge - We checked in and we were so impressed with the property, room, and service, we booked a 2nd night's stay. Firepits make for conversation under the stars or in the lobby. The extra pampering for our pup was above average and special. If we lived in the state or ever come thus way again, this is where we would stay. Highly recommend this family owned and operated (for over 20 years) lodge. Fun for the whole family or just a couple.

The property is nicely set up with two beautiful fire pits , Adirondack chairs, kitchen area open all the time, clean common space, well appointed rooms. This a nice property for families with kids, or a couple like us. Not over the top , just comfy , nice and simple.

- Elizabeth (10/5): Amazingly dog friendly - This hotel goes above and beyond for customers traveling with dogs! There is a large outdoor dog park, with free dog waste bags, and lots of grass for walks. There is a mudroom just off the dog park, with a bathtub, shampoo and towels to clean your dog before coming inside. In the room, there is a big dog bed and a bin full of extrra towels, a sheet to cover the bed to keep it clean, a dog blanket, and a goodie bag filled with treats, more plastic bags and tennis balls! They even have paintings of dogs on the walls. The manager/reception desk was also super attention and really easy to work with when we needed to change our dates.

Has a number of outdoor fire pits for summer months and a grill. Local drinks and food in fridges for purchase in the lobby. Would definitely stay again!

- Lisa (10/5): New Family Tradition - We have stayed here a couple times now and it will definitely be a tradition for us from now on. Amazing dog friendly hotel. Wonderful pool and hot tub. We stayed in a suite that had a jacuzzi bath tub and full kitchen. It’s just so amazing here. Live music on Saturday nights. Nice little breakfast served every morning. Great location. Bonfires every night. Just awesome!!

- Mary (10/5): - This place was very clean (lobby, room, pool and breakfast area), breakfast was great, wonderful view of back yard, room was very roomy and blinds were wonderful to keep the morning light out (slept in), the owner was so nice when we checked in and out, the pool and hot tub were at the right temperature. If we come up to that area again we will stay there again and I will for sure be telling family and friends about this place.
