• Charlene (10/5): Excellent - I didn’t get breakfast . The location was perfect to the event I was participating in , 1 km away from the Shingle Mill pub I got upgraded to a room newly renovated with a soaker tub . Very clean and quiet . The TV wasn’t working , but I didn’t need it .
• Robert (8/5): Very nice comfortable stay, great location. - Very good location, restaurants nearby, easy access, loads of parking. Beds were comfortable and the water was hot fast for the shower. It’s not a bad thing, but they still use keys for doors, and a very small TV(which we did not use anyway).

• Alyssa (5/5): Cheap hotel with poor facilities, I’d recommend if you just need a place to crash for a night or two but not expect to b - The hotel was in a clean location relatively close to stores, restaurants and the city centre. Good enough to rest your head The beds were very uncomfortable, not easily accessible outlets to charge phones, towels we were given were stained. We were not made aware that the light switch by the door was used to power the fridge so this led to the fridge leaking through the night. The TV was impossible to figure out so we were unable to watch it for the entirety of our trip

• Pradeep (1/5): - Nothing Our stay at Island View Lodge was extremely disappointing and far below expectations. The rooms were very small and not worth the price we paid. Cleanliness was poor — toilets were not properly cleaned, had visible marks, and even half-used toilet rolls were left for guests. Several lights and switches were not functioning. Some lights could not be turned off at all, forcing us to sleep with the lights on. When we approached the staff for help, no proper solution was provided. We were told to remove the bulb ourselves if we wanted the light off, which is completely unacceptable. There was water leakage from the fridge. Overall maintenance of the room was very poor. The location is not ideal and does not justify the high cost. Additionally, we were a family of 2 adults and 2 kids (ages 8 and 16). Based on the information on Booking.com, we were required to book two rooms. However, upon arrival, we realized that one room with two queen beds would have been sufficient. This was not clearly communicated during booking and resulted in unnecessary extra cost. When we raised this with the hotel staff, they informed us that since the booking was made via Booking.com, they could not make any changes or cancellations. This left us without any support or resolution at the property. For the $800 we paid for two rooms, this stay offered no value at all. The experience was extremely disappointing and felt misleading compared to what was advertised. Additional comments / Request: Given the poor condition of the property, lack of support from staff, and misleading booking information, I would like to formally request a full or partial refund, especially for the additional room that was unnecessarily booked. This experience did not meet basic hospitality standards, and I would not recommend this property to others.

• Jayne (8/5): - Very lovely lady at the front desk, most accommodating. Ensured my dog and I had a good stay. Room had a slight odour to it, perhaps due to the age of the building. Otherwise it was clean, central and safe.
• Jean-Marie (8/5): - This is a lovely family owned and run business. Our room and the facilities were clean and comfortable. We liked the extra sink in our room. The bed was comfortable. The windows kept out most of the road noise and we enjoyed our stay. We were there for one night. Recommended.

• Rick (8/5): - Nice little hotel. No issues with the room itself or the staff. But the walls are paper thin so you can hear everything that goes on in the adjoining rooms. You may get lucky but we didn't. Not their fault, it appears to be an older property, but you should know about it.
• Catherine (8/5): My stay in Powell river. - The bed was very comfortable and it had a stove top to make food if you wanted to. The chairs were comfortable and the floor was clean. I thought it would be closer to the town centre. I paid for taxis and when leaving I took the bus. Unfortunately I was there for an outdoor wedding it rained and rained and was very chilly.

• Darlene (4/5): - The staff were friendly. I was able to check in early. The bed was comfortable. Location easily accessible. However the room is definitely in need of repair and uogrades. The fridge is appalling. Good thing the rate low.
• William (6/5): - We booked a quick one night stay as we were in transition. We didn't expect much and we go what we expected. The motel is really dated though the bathroom was nicely updated. Our sheets had stains on them and our next door neighbours requested new sheets for the same reason. All in all, it is OK for a quick overnight, but I wouldn't be inclined to book more than that.

• ANNE (5/5): OK. Staff are nice but lodge needs some TLC. - Location OK for what we wanted. Room could have been cleaner. Fridge is very old. Grass outside needs a good rake. Lots of cigarette stubs etc there.

• Alasdair (7/5): A pleasant, modern budget place to stay in Town Site with a very nice view over the water towards Vancouver Island. - Convenient location for my purposes. Very helpful staff. The receptionist/manager Naini was very professional and helpful. Aside from paper cups, nothing in the way of cups or glasses, plates or cutlery.

Microwave cord too short to plug in to wall socket.Had to hang the microwave off the end of the shelf.A two burner stove top but no pots or pans.No cups,glasses or cutlery.4plates though!No grocery store or liquor store , they were advertised but out of business.Floor and fridge dirty.Lighting poor.There was a small table lamp but you had to unplug the TV to plug it in.
• Siobhan (10/5): - Clean room and renovated bathroom with excellent shower water pressure. Staff was friendly and very helpful. Really appreciated opportunity to do laundry. Hotel is across the street from Townsite market (excellent bakery), movie theatre and great Royal Zayka restaurant.
• Chanea (4/5): - Our room door was left open when we checked in. The front desk lady was not presentable at all. Her living area was the office behing the counter and made the foyer smell like food and not in a good way. Her t.v was so loud she couldn't here the service phone. I tried three times to request an iron. Rooms that weren't being used were still dirty with garbage and beds unmade. The only reason we knew was because the curtains were left open for everyone to see. The stairs were scary to use, it felt like they were going to collapse at any moment. My family and I couldn't handle it anymore so I checked out a day early, booked at another hotel and took the loss of not getting a return.

I went back to the office to ask for an extra pillow immediately and the person disappeared and couldn’t be found. There were 2 other patrons needing assistance and nobody working the desk.

Requested to please clean up the room, but upon return hours later it was in the same condition. Will not stay there again.
• John (10/5): - I was so happy to arrive early on a Harbour Air flight and find my room ready. The Island View Lodge is a short walk from the Powell Lake float plane terminal. This a terrific place to stay in the historic Powell River townsite…. Big thanks to the friendly and very helpful staff!

• Brigitte (8/5): Enjoyable stay, we would come back again. - Check in was good. Room was clean. Naina at the reception was very helpful. She came to our room right away to show us how to turn the volume on the TV up or down. We had other questions too and she was always available to answer them. We really liked the location of the hotel in the old part of town. But we needed our car to get to the area where all the action is with restaurants and shops.
• Jen (4/5): - The front desk staff is also tasked with cleaning rooms so it took a while to find someone to check us in. The first room we were put in was not labeled properly (210), we found a door with only a #1 on it and had to find housekeeping to confirm it was right. The room smelled stale and the bathroom smelled of urine. It was dark and had dents in the walls. The tiny ac barely worked and the tv wouldn’t work either. Had to wait again at front desk and search for staff to get a power bar plug in for tv. Staff was understanding about our unhappiness with the room and offered a different room. The other room was much brighter and cleaner but we were super disappointed with the condition of the linens and towels. While it was obvious they were washed many had stains, to the point that the white towels looked yellow and worn. It’s a cheap fix to provide a clean and healthy experience for guests. The shower curtain was also stained with moldy ring around it. The grounds of the hotel are nothing like pictured in advertisements. The seating area was dirty and littered with bits of garbage. There were also garage bags piled up in the lobby because staff was trying to do two jobs of cleaning and front desk. She was kind and helpful so not reflective of her service but the owners should fix these things if they don’t want to become a 1 star motel as this was a 1 star experience.

Lights left on outside room interfering with sleep. Bedside lamp had no switch so had to be unplugged from wall. Neighbouring room smoked on walkway so cigarette smoke came into my room. Unpleasant decor.

• Elaine (7/5): - Mainly, it was a reasonable price, and we were able to get 2 beds in a pet friendly room. Beds were comfortable. There was a small fridge and microwave. There were no hairdryers in the room and no one responded at the front desk in the evening or in the morning (around 8 am). A mat inside the door woukd have helped when bringing in dogs on a rainy day, and glasses (or 2 cups, bit just one) woukd have been nice.

• Tiffany (5/5): - Overall it wasn’t a bad stay. It was cheap. Soft pillows and bed. Has AC No staff welcoming at check in or check out. I had to use the phone to page someone. At checkout the cleaner came to checkout but kept her dirty gloves on during the process, gross. You have to use your credit card for pre auth and check in. But then get charged for using a credit card.. I had 3 rooms. I should have just been charged once, they charged my card 3 seperate times and charged me a credit fee 3 times. AC leaks all over balcony. Curtains are on backwards.

• Steve (6/5): - No one at front desk. You have to ring if you need anything or want to ask a question. The lobby smells very strongly of cooking. Pungent. I assume the owners living quarters are attached. The rooms and property in general are dated. The AC units are old and inadequate for the task. We left our AC running for our whole stay and it barely managed to get down to 23 or 24 degrees - we had to borrow a fan from our friends locally to survive/sleep. No ice bucket in the room nor was one provided when we asked. Overall not great stay. Would not repeat.

• Erica (6/5): - Ok if your not picky .. the staff were friendly but very hard to find when needed ....the room was partially updated but still very rundown...clean bed clean towels and good water pressure... the batroom sink was plugged and the air conditioner was VERY noisy and hardly worked in fact at one point i blew the breaker in my room when using the microwave and air conditioner at the same time .. when checking out i walked past a bunch of open rooms as lots were also checking out and i noticed that most of the rooms vere nicer than mine so maybe i was just unlucky ...
• Hannie (2/5): - Onces we got to the hotel we had to wait minimum 10 minutes to do the check in. Receptionist waa nowhere to be found. I enter to my room that smell like someone just use the washroom. We had to call the receptionist to our room because the microwave or tv where not working. She explained you can either use the microwave and no ac or ac and nothing else which ot was ridiculous considering is summee and room was extremely hot. Not a good experience definitely not using that hotel again. Rooms on the websites looks way clean and nicer that they actually are. I wantes to upload pictures but didnt let me

I was handed a key, told that there would be a 100.00 added for incidentals? and would be reimbursed upon departure, then the person vanished. Coffee service consisted of 1 cup, 1 package of coffee and sugar packets for 2 adults, for 2 days. I gave up on "Service" after 3 tries.

• d (2/5): - Took 1 step into the room, had to leave. We booked 3 nights, but they wouldnt refund us for the first night, so we ended up paying for 1 night despite spending less than 5 minutes in the room. Luckily we found a bnb down the street. Hoping for a full refund, this place is filthy, mouldy, and the smell alone was unbearable. Doors were open when we got there, rooms were also full of bugs, mosquitos, and spiders everywhere. Its like a motel from a true crime show based in the 80s.

• Barbara (6/5): Cherish and convenient. - Location , cleanliness, easy parking. The recent Reno’s are a little rough and inconsistent. Some things are redone and others are just cobbled together. Some things are new - some things are old. The new curtains are on backwards!!!! The tv is impossible to figure out. The glass walkways are great for the view but terrible for access on the ground floor . You have to walk all the way around the length of the hallway to being your things to your room. The surrounding yard and Building could use a little love - very little curb appeal.
