• Trent (2/5): - When we arrived here there were signs all over the door that it was shut down by the city. It had been shut down for a month at that point. They accepted the reservation and took my money off my card immediately knowing that they were shut down and couldn't give us a room

There was a schizo guy that kept waking us and then a fake fire. There was no smoke. No flames yet a fireman assaulted me trying to get me out of the room quicker than I could grab my stuff. we paid the price of a high quality motel and received an inferior room. also The room was offered as a non-smoking room yet- If you looked behind the furniture, the yellow walls showed that was not the case. I have never been so disappointed with a motel booking and truly feel that we should be reimbursed the total amount of the room. $295.68

• Quest33001836219 (2/5): Crooks - The owner is a crook wanted me to pay him numerous times I had a check that cleared through the bank, and I have proof. Cops came because owner wrote no parking on the side of a truck with black permanent marker. Bad person.

Went back to the front desk to exchange for another room to find the person who checked us in left for a while and they could not help us. Later got a replacement room. We left our stuff in a room to come back and find someone came in and removed our belongings and we had to track them down. Don't plan to stay there again.

The rooms 💯 need to be updated for the price we paid. The emergency door that is in the hallway that leads to the outside was unlock the whole time. The beds were so small that two people can’t sleep in the same bed.

Con's - No sheets on the bed, uncomfortable mattress, stained furniture/floors, towels with holes in them, no coffee maker/refrigerator/hair dryer. Owner seems to be grumpy and not easily understood. Location is close to track and restaurants.

• 117georgiam (10/5): Friendly and clean - This is my 2nd time staying here during a race weekend and I'm glad I chose to stay here again. The rooms are clean, refrigerator works great, within walking distance to the track. The man that runs the place is awesome, he even remembered my daughter and I from when we were here a year ago. Definantly recommend staying here if you're attending the races.
• Verified traveler (8/5): Waking distance to Knoxville Raceway - This is a locally owned family run business. It is not a chain. So i knew that and had appropriate expectations when I arrived. The staff was kind and walked us to our room. The carpet was new and the bed was comfy. The water pressure was great. We stayed here to go to the races. It was great for our trip.
• Jennifer (2/5): - While the room was clean, there were cigarette burns in my bed sheets, the TV did not work correctly, the tub took 10 minutes to drain from a half inch of water. Which means the tub kept filling up while attempting to shower. The pop in the vending machine expired in 2020. The hallways smelled of cigarette smoke and something else, possibly a pipe or cigar, maybe incense. Only 1 light of the 4 in the bathroom worked. There is only a flimsy chain instead of a deadbolt on the doors. This would never stop anyone from coming in. The continental breakfast consisted of bananas, 5 grapes, dry cereal and expired milk. I felt very unsafe in this motel. I literally slept with a chair and the mini frig pushed against the door. The light at the end of the hallway was also out, right where all the hallway cameras do not pick up and at the back entrance where anyone could go in and out. No coffee makers in the rooms, no microwaves, etc. Cups with the ice bucket were just random plastic cups with no packaging on them. They were also on a dirty and stained tray. The prices were hiked up to $147 per night due to the tulip festival and the races. We met many unhappy people in the lobby.
• John J (4/5): Unreal experience!!! - This Motel is not as pictured, the owner was rude and if we could have gotten another hotel we would of. The room was not clean and the breakfast was a banana or a apple with a cup of coffee and a small muffin. The bathtub was not clean it had hairs in it and the tile floor really needed a good cleaning. The bathroom air vent was full of grime! Since we were there we could not get a refund and there were no other rooms available in the area of the Pella Iowa Tulip Festival.
• Verified traveler (6/5): Run down and out of date. - We would not stay here again. Owner tried to charge us way too much for an extra night. Hotel lobby breakfast area dirty (including microwave). Breakfast foods left out for days in same containers. The entire place smelled of cigarette smoke. Mold in frig in our room. Towel quality poor- we went out and bought towels. No smoke detector in room .
• Verified traveler (4/5): Never again!! - I had to book this motel last minute due to change of plans, but I wasn't happy at all!! I was put in a room, which the guy at the front knocked at first!! Shouldn't that be known already?! The room had no shower, just a tub, a toilet seat that was falling off, and no phone! I found the phone later when I opened the drawers and found a used pair of socks, a bag of eated beef jerky, and the unplugged phone!! Again, I only stayed because I needed a place to sleep!!
• Margeaux (6/5): - Older hotel, last updated in the late 80s/early 90s. Stayed b/c it was the only hotel available otherwise would not have paid over $100 for what was a $60 room at best. If you have other options, I would use them.

Showed me the room before I checked in to make certain I approved. Will definitely stay here again. Yes, it’s dated, no it’s not a Hilton but it had what I needed, glad I stayed at the Red Carpet Motel.

There was plaster dust inside the shower from where the shower head had been replaced. There was no heat on when I arrived in the room, and it was very cold. The bed was hard, but did the job. I was looking for an inexpensive place to catch sleep on a bad weather night to save me the drive home from work. This hotel accomplished that goal.

• Sheri (8/5): Convenient - The initial appearance is outdated but the room was clean, AC worked, and the bed was comfy. It was a convenient place to sleep & shower after the races, which was all I was needed on this trip.

• diayang (10/5): Nice friendly place! - The owner was very nice and provided great service! We got so tired from fishing one night and we woke up late the next morning. Then we all left to go do more fishing during the day. They were kind to have left us some snacks and fruits in each our rooms when we got back. That was superb!! Made our night given that we didn’t have much luck with fishing :)

He told me to go away, they had no rooms.I knew that was a lie as there were only a few cars there .Told him I had a reservation so then we went to the desk and he basically threw the key across to me. I could not believe his surly behavior!! The actual room was clean and nice though.

• horseman4100 (8/5): Tulip Time in Pella Iowa - We booked into the Red Carpet Motel because all the inns/motels around Pella Iowa werev booked for the Tulip Days. It was a pleasant surprise. It is definitely a budget motel but clean and comfortable. Our host Mr Rafi was very attentive. A good place to stay as you travel through scenic Iowa on a budget
• Verified traveler (6/5): - Shabby conditions in the lobby. Went to sit at one of the tables in the afternoon and found that it had not been cleaned after breakfast. It was a little disturbing to have the owner in pajamas and barefoot when we went to check out.

• R5799LMlaurap (2/5): Do NOT stay here!! - My room was VERY crude. It reminded me of a 1950's backwoods cabin! I did not feel safe and definitely not comfortable in my room! To top it off, the entire hotel stunk! I decided to check out after 20 minutes without another hotel to go to. The manager did offer me a nicer room if I would stay and I checked it out before staying. I ended up staying the night but will never, ever stay there again! Whew!
• Tarie (2/5): Horrible hotel - Horrible horrible horrible!!! The desk clerk/owner came out getting dressed, was rude and opened our room and left. This room was terrible, the floor had trash on it, you could tell it had not even been vacuumed in a long time. There walls were disgusting and the pillow case had makeup on it. We requested a refund and he told us we already paid and he was not giving us or money back. The ice machine was so loud we had to almost yell to talk! This place should be condemned!! I'm unhappy with this place but hotels.com as well. If you are going to have hotels on your site that you are putting your reputation on you might want to make sure it is a reputable clean place!!!!
• Sarah (4/5): Overpriced, gross - My boyfriend and I were in town for a wedding, and I thought we'd give this place a chance. WITH A COUPON, our room cost $65. There is no way I would have paid more than $40 if I had known the state of the place. Check-in was an awkward experience. The guy had some weird food glaze all over his hands and kept licking his fingers and handing me a page to initial with his gross hand in my face. Whatever, I thought, I'm sure the room is fine. The room is basic. Some of the pictures on here are nice, and I can tell you that those are stock photos. The ones with the red beds are real. The bathroom lock was broken. The toilet took forever to refill and was so loud that I felt bad getting up in the middle of the night to use the restroom. There were stains on the chairs. The TV remote felt greasy. We came back at 10:30pm to find the front door locked. After ringing the doorbell and waiting for a few minutes, the innkeeper finally let us in, grumbling to himself the whole time. We had planned on leaving to get food, but after that we didn't feel like we were able to come and go as we pleased without feeling like we were inconveniencing the guy. I set an alarm to wake up early just so we could get out of there ASAP. I can't say I've ever done that for a motel before. It wasn't in a bad area. Again, I paid $65 and that room was definitely worth $30-40. I'll be booking with a chain from now on. Lesson learned. At least we had fun joking about it later.
• mesasboogie (2/5): What can you expect for 62 bucks but it wasn't Tried to jack the price!! - When we called I was told 74 had my wife look to see if she wanted (or was willing to stay there). I was told 74 she was told 62 she reserved it for two nights. When we got there after a 4 hour drive and tickets bought for a 2 day Outlaw show, he tried to tell us it was $150.00 a night and arguing that he gets $250.00 a night during nationals. I nicely reminded him that it was not nationals and I can't see anyone paying that much to stay there. When we again reminded him of the price we were quoted he said it was his daughter and she didn't know the prices. He kept saying she is an outsider and doesn't know he has to make money. He finally "compromised" in his words with us after repeatedly telling us to stay somewhere else because he was losing money for 79.00 at this point you won't find a room anywhere close so that is how he gets you , We were booked for two nights at 62.00 on the phone and he complained to many other people in our presence that we were screwing him. The place is a dump which I expected, however didn't expect a 110 percent price increase just because the Outlaws were in town. The whole time we were there he was nasty towards us. We had to ask for clean towels which were stained, he would not look me in the eye every time we saw him. The room was nasty which I was already warned to bring our own bedding. The place smelled like mold and was very dirty. I don't have allergies but by day two I was sneezing and hacking every time the window AC came on. BE WARNED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also the brochure said you had many channels we had only very basic channels. Had an HBO schedule in the room didn't even have basic cable.
• 262valerief (4/5): Terrible place to stay - So let's talk about the Red Carpet motel in Knoxville Iowa and my personal experience there. We booked online via nearly two weeks in advance. We paid online with a credit card. Decided ahead of time that we wanted to stay an additional night and rebooked the same hotel. We arrived on Wednesday as planned The hotel staff although friendly seemed surprised we were there and had no record of reservation. I showed them my two reservations which showed paid in full. I had to explain 3 times we would be there thru Sunday. I will say there was a bit of a language barrier so the lady brought her daughter in to speak to us. I showed her the information. She said okay, and they gave us a room. The king room was dated but clean with a fridge. There were extension cords plugging everything in and the outlet for personal use was in the bathoom. The first night my husband showered and the shower head sprayed a bit over the shower curtain and drenched the floor. The bed mattress was about 20 years old and springy it was like sleeping on a box springs only. Breakfast the next day left a lot to be desired. At 6:45 AM there was one banana 5 donut holes and couple pieces of stale bread. In the fridge there was milk for cereal and watered down orange drink mix. We decided to shop for something different for the next day. We were gone all day and came back to find that our room had not been cleaned, the trash had not been removed and we did not have clean towels. I asked for towels and they gave them to us. The lobby trash had not been removed and was overflowing into the hallway. Night 2 I showered and the shower sprayed the entire bathroom soaking everything including the wall, ceiling, light fixtures, outlets, and toilet paper. Needless to say it was a dangerous mess. So I got dressed went to the office brought them back to the room, showed them the mess, and the put us in a different room. After we got the rooms changed we decided we wanted popcorn. We went out to the lobby to pop our popcorn. Put it in microwave and watched in horror as 9 seconds into cooking flames start shooting inside the microwave. So we immediately stop the microwave and report it to hotel staff. They said that happens a lot. They took our popcorn and popped it for us in their personal room and brought it out to us. Fine. We sleep. Next day, breakfast at 6AM 6 donut holes a couple bananas and some bread Skip it and eat our own food, microwave was still broken but were able to microwave with only a few flames. Trash still full and overflowing. We leave for the day. Come back around 7 that night. Take a bag of popcorn to the desk and have them cook it for us. We are tired so we go to sleep pretty early. Around 9pm. At around 11PM there is a man beating on our door incessantly. I'm thinking there must be a fire or something. We put on some clothes and open the door. It's the husband manager demanding payment I tell him we have paid. He says, 'YOU NO PAY YOU NO STAY' I go to the office and he is showing me expedia reservations and booking.com reservations for several other people that are unpaid. I tell him again, we booked with hotels.com and I show him my phone where it says paid in full. I tell him we will NEVER stay here again. He cussed at us said he don't give a F#$% because he needs to make sure he gets paid. He pulls out a 4 inch binder full of reservations and hands it to me, low and behold there are my reservations paid in full. He GRABS my arm and says how sorry he is. Well first of all, DO NOT EVER TOUCH ME. You DO NOT have permission to do that. Second of all you need to do you freaking job, and get your paperwork in order. I'm thinking the hotel business is too much for you and your family to handle. The next morning we called our booking agency , canceled our next nights reservation, and went down the road to another hotel where we were treated great. In conclusion this is the worst hotel I have stayed at in my life.
• chrisk1172017 (2/5): The Pits! - Hotel smelled skunky when you walked in. Owner not pleasant but did take us to our room to make sure it was clean. It had mold throughout the carpeting, ceiling partially caving in, bathroom was deplorable. Did not look in bed, but bedspread was filthy!! Non smoking room reeked of smoke and body odor. We did not stay the night!!! Rates show $66 a nite, but Tulip Festival was going and he charged $96. Went back to Des Moines and found a very clean hotel for $20.00 more. The Red Carpet Motel looked nothing like the pictures on web. DEPLORABLE!
• Jeannette5 (6/5): Not Great; Not Terrible - My main concern is cleanliness. The room was clean. Very outdated, in need of repair, but it had been cleaned. The place had an Indian food odor to it. The "continental breakfast" couldn't have been lamer. The couple running the place was nice. But I don't really feel the few bucks we saved staying at this motel was worth it.
• TracyRaceGurl44 (8/5): Knoxville Speedway - No complaints, the owners went out of their way to get us anything we needed. It is definitely an older hotel, the outside is not updated at all, but it was clean & that was the main thing. Within walking distance to Knoxville Speedway and that is what we were looking for. Will be back again next year !!!
• dawnl91 (4/5): Never again.... - I had booked 2 rooms here because this was the only place with available rooms. The guy acted like he didn't want to talk to me by asking my brother in law if he could help him when he was standing at the door and I was at the counter....after I explained that I was the one that had made the reservations and I was the one that had already paid and I was the one to talk to it was 15 minutes or longer to check in because the guy was so un- organized he couldn't find my reservations. When he finally did he asked my bro n law if he wanted to check his room never asking me if I wanted to(all this time 1pm the guy was in his pajamas mind you)....My bro n law and his family's room was fine...very clean but my husband and my room was the exact opposite....the bathroom had soap all over the vanity....dried pee on the toilet...pubic hairs in the floor...dead spiders in the floor and poopie toilet paper in the floor as well...I travel with cleaning supplies so I was just going to let it go after I had cleaned the bathroom but our air conditioner did not work...so my husband and I went up and asked to be moved and he did move us to another room with no questions asked and the second room was SOOOOOO much better...very clean! The exterior is VERY run down and was littered with trash. We never ate breakfast. Went to check out and no one was around just a note saying throw keys in basket. Next time we will just go to the next town over if this is the last resort!
• LKTravelerboy (6/5): A Huge Value - When you first look at the exterior of the Red Carpet Motel, your initial thought may be, “U-h-h, no!” The place doesn’t have what a realtor would call “curb appeal”. However, once inside, it is a very nice, very clean establishment, and one of the best values I’ve ever encountered. (And the owner is very accommodating.) First of all, ignore the large photos on the motel’s home page. I don’t know where those pictures were taken, but definitely not at the Red Carpet. There is a gallery with real room photos---go there instead. The motel looks like it once had outdoor entries on the rooms, but those have been covered up, and the old outside walkways are no longer used. Because of this, the area outside the rear wing is in pretty dismal decay, but that’s not a problem, as rooms are now accessed through interior hallways. There wasn’t much of a crowd the weekend my wife and I stayed, so the owner was able to give us a room in the back, apparently recently remodeled. In fact, the room did look new. The furniture style was better-dorm-room, but it was in excellent shape. The carpeting looked new, so did the television. The bathroom was spotless, and also looked like it had a recent re-do, including a new floor, and new shoulder-height wallpaper. The sink and tub---also looking new---were, like the floor, spotless. Be aware there is no hair dryer. Perhaps this can be gotten upon request, but being seasoned travelers, my wife and I brought one from home. My other problem with the bathroom was the inadequate light for shaving, having to use the in-ceiling heat lamp to get enough illumination. (Not to single-out the Red Carpet on this one---I’ve experienced too-dim bathroom lighting everywhere from one-star to four-star hotels.) The room had a very nice refrigerator, but not the promised microwave. Again, perhaps this could have been obtained through a request, but we really had no need for it, so we didn’t ask. However, make sure you look for it when you check-in. I had read on Trip Advisor reviews that the breakfast was kind of lean, but we did not eat any of it. Knowing we had a refrigerator, we just brought some light breakfast items with us. While the Red Carpet is pretty much an average motel, there are two things (other than the excellent housekeeping) that make it a great value: Location and price. It is located just down the highway from the National Sprint Car Hall Of Fame and Museum, and the Knoxville Speedway. It is also just a short drive from the very-Dutch town of Pella, which also makes the price of a stay at the Red Carpet such a value. We got two nights at this place for the price of one night at the most-economic Pella hotels. So don’t let the outside of the Red Carpet Motel frighten you away. Inside, it’s just fine.
• booton (2/5): Not Clean!! - I reserved a room here based on trip advisor reviews that said it was clean. It was NOT clean. The lobby smelled bad. When we entered the room, we could see that the carpet was not vacuumed. The sheets had stains and hair. The toilet had a spot of dried urine. I asked for a refund. The owner was friendly. He offered two other rooms but they looked dirty also. He gave my refund and I went elsewhere.
• DipsoMax (10/5): Rafi a very good host - Rafi is a great guy. So accommodating, great b&b. Great location, very clean, feels very homely. Excellent host Very comfortable bed and pillows great shower Great breakfast. Really nice guy Would stay there again and again
• 698jima (8/5): Excellent value - I took a chance and stayed at this family run motel. Less expensive than Super 8 / Motel 6 so you never know. Pleasantly surprised by the room's cleanliness and EXCELLENT bed. Comfortable, firm, good support for the back. Small room just for the night but very good internet connection, clean bathroom, good TV reception, working remote, all the basics. I'll definitely stay here again.
• ragant (10/5): best place in town - my friend and i recently took my son to the races and had a great stay at the motel very clean and close to the track. Rafi the owner was very nice and helpfull and made for a great stay this place was recomended to us by a friend and they were 100% right if your in knoxville its the best place to stay!!!!!
• manz00rm (10/5): Excellent management! - I stayed at the Red Carpet Motel, Knoxville several times due to some work on DesMoines. The motel and Room was Clean and I definitely received the excellent service that I could not imagine. The management especially the manager is very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The breakfast was super! I would recommend this motel to stay and I might stop in the hotel in near future if possible.
• SantaC693 (10/5): Motel for Sprint Car Fan - Very close to the race track, you could walk if driving is not an option :) staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are cool and comfortable, you will not find nicer people that are willing to help in any fashion.
