Brinkman (8/5): Glad I chose the Rodmay Hotel - Rodmay Hotel is old, and it is old but well kept. It is a historical building in Powell River. It is way more interesting than most places.
Helena (10/5): Superb and Luxurious. - Reception person was EXCELLENT, allowing me to check in even before noon, when I needed bathroom. All Hotel was very elegant and with great historical decor. Walking upstairs to second floor was very easy. Room and Bathroom: super clean, comfy, towels were very lush and luxurious. Also I was SUPER IMPRESSED with great quality of bed sheets and warm comforter. Bed sheets look and feel gave me comfort to the max. Also mattress was of high quality, which is important after hard days of traveling in my Senior age. I was very satisfied with this hotel, and I was also told in Reception that almost every year there are movies filmed in this Hotel, after I asked about picture of Sandra O standing there with autographs. Parking is very easy, location is so central to historic city that it can not be better, close to great restaurant Royal Zayka with super East Indian food and everything else. What is there not to like? Maybe not staying there :-)
ARUN (1/5): Remote location and poorly maintained rooms made for a very disappointing stay. - Honestly, there was nothing I particularly liked about this property. The experience overall was disappointing. The stay was very frustrating. The location is quite remote and about a 10 minute drive from the main part of town, which made it inconvenient. The WiFi password provided in the room was incorrect, and I had to go to the front desk twice to get the correct one. The room itself was extremely basic with almost no amenities. The pillow was uncomfortable and made a squeaky noise, making it difficult to sleep. There was a strong draft coming through the windows, which did not seem to close properly. The floors were also dirty, which made the room feel poorly maintained. Overall, the quality did not meet expectations.
Adam (8/5): Rodmay stay - The price the location the staff and the charm. Oh and the water pressure in the shower was phenomenal. Cable tv is fine, which they had but instead of roku tv upgrade to smart tvs so that people can screen share or plug in their own fire stick so they dont have to sign in to apps they have access to.

Gregory (8/5): Great value for money even if the hotel is a bit worn around the edges - The hotel has a great historic atmosphere with a grand if somewhat tired lobby. The room was basic but comfortable. The room featured a nice mattress and excellent bedding. There was also a microwave in the room but no kettle unfortunately. The room was very quiet, although there were very few guests staying at the hotel while we were there. This is a very reasonably priced hotel, and while the rooms and common areas are dated, this is still very good value for money in my view. The heat seemed to be turned off in common spaces and even our bedroom was a bit chilly. As mentioned above the hotel has seen better days so everything seems a bit old and dilapidated.

Heather (7/5): I was happy with it. Would stay there again. - The hotel is sweet and retro in a kitchy kind of way; probably not to everyone's taste but I thought it was great. Very clean and quiet, which we appreciated. It took five full minutes of running the water to get it hot enough for a shower. Also, only one tiny round of soap, which we made work but another one would have been better.

I think when people are booking they should ask if there is any elderly in there party because the rooms have many stairs to climb and no elevator. This is fair because I had a hard time getting to our room and my granddaughter had to make three trips with our belongings. Thats my only oncern for others. Otherwise it is an excellent place.

Mark (5/5): Good value and location, but don’t expect much. - The old Townsite is a pleasant location. The hotel has some charm. Staff were pleasant, but there was nobody at the front desk much of the time. Bed springs were squeaky. No window screen.

Wendy (8/5): - The hotel has great character but no breakfast available due to location (can't get the staff). Feels like there are many empty rooms. Some areas blocked off. If you like heritage sites and genuine antique fixtures and fittings, you'll enjoy this hotel. I don't think it is haunted!

It was a last minute reservation so I guess that's what I get for not planning ahead. It blows my mind that for the same amount, the next day, I had a stellar accommodation at Whistler. Had no idea that Powell river is so expensive! lol

Francee (10/5): Staying at the Rodmay Hotel was a treat😊 - I love the history and character of this hotel. The manager was very friendly and told us so much about the hotel itself, as well as the surrounding area. The building is beautiful inside. The rooms are freshly renovated but still maintain the essence of what they were like originally. Staying at the Rodmay was a treat. I like it just the way it is.

Ronald (8/5): - This is a vintage hotel that has a long history in Powell River. The hotel seems to have undergone considerable interior refurbishing, and has some interesting displays in the lobby. One must understand the challenges of working with such an old structure to appreciate what has been accomplished so far. Having said that, the location leaves something to be desired as it is literally right next to the abandoned pulp and paper mill. I'm not sure what's planned for the mill site, but if it was ever demolished, the ocean views would be spectacular. The rooms are in restored original condition, with comfortable beds adequate water pressure decent shower and vintage fixtures. If you want to experience some history of the Powell River area, this is a great property to start with. Definitely recommend!

Janice (4/5): - This hotel is very old and outdated. The room was extremely small and the furniture was sparse to say the least. No restaurant available and the location is poor. ( right in front of an old, closed down mill on a very steep hill) There are few amenities in the area. I will give some credit to the friendly staff. I would not stay there again.

Lacasse (8/5): Such a cute hotel, an absolute gem. - Beautiful old hotel. Value for money is incredible. Yes, it’s a 2 star, you’ll see that. But it’s very clean, quirky 114yr old hotel and the operators are so charming. Will 100% stay again! Nothing really, fancy soaps in the bathroom maybe. It had everything I wanted and more, for the price of a motel across town. Nothing I didn’t like.

Brandi (4/5): - Location is very run down, and sketchy. Doors to the lobby are unlocked all times and no one is working inside. We checked in after 3pm, we had to call someone to come and complete check in as no one was working the desk. There are cameras all over the place but clearly not being monitored. The "hotel" smells like an old heritage building/ museum. It's quite rundown and not any upgrades to the building what soever. The lobby was freezing cold, and so was our room. The one small baseboard heater was up full blast but couldnt keep up. Unfortunately they're was no one to ask for any help here. Windows are old and let all the cold air in. Bathroom was the same, cold, no heater, open walls, dollar store shower curtains. Hot water takes about 5 minutes to actually come out of the tap, and even then it's not fully hot. As expected for an old building, there are lots of noises and bangs in the pipes, floors etc, so not a great sleep. Bathroom walls and doors were dirty, cleaning is not being done very thoroughly, but overall it wasn't terrible. Check out process was to leave our key in a bowl at the front desk, because no one is working. I don't recommend this "hotel" and will not be back. This place should honestly be charging like $50 a night , not $150

Kathleen (4/5): - The property sits in the area of an old pulp mill. The hotel itself is lovely but hotels from that era have walls that are paper thin. A band was playing I could hear the base drum nearby until twelve forty-five. The people in the next room kept me up till after four in the morning. They were awake at eight am. There was no hot water. The ambiance of the hotel just doesn’t make up for a terrible night.

Brian (1/5): I decided I did not want to stay. I made a mistake. The fellow at the desk was really nice. I did not want to insult him - I didn’t care for the place at all. It was in a bit of a run down area. The pics made it look grand and unique but it ended up being cold, a bit run down and the entrance I found to be a bit unclean.

Shelley (2/5): - This was the weirdest and creepiest hotel I've ever stayed at. The only person I saw was the young guy who checked me in. There were hallways chained off and creepy decor throughout. There was no hot water for a shower. There was a heavy metal band playing downstairs when I arrived so was very noisy. My room had a view of the decrepid roof and the closed down paper mill. The surrounding area was industrial and dingy. The creepiness added to the Halloween vibe of the night as I went to a Halloween party at the hall across the street. Probably won't stay here again.
Glenna (6/5): Pleasant - Great location. The beds were quite comfortable. We couldn't get hot water in the bathroom although we let it run for a long while. The hotel and our room were both a little run down, but for one night it was fine.
Gregory (1/5): This place should be remodeled with a bulldozer - Nothing We were the only guests in the hotel. There was no staff present when we arrived. The Internet worked badly, If at all, the room smelled moldy, the hot water was iffy, there was no ice, the night clerk, when he arrived, barely spoke English, the front and back doors were wide open to the world, the screens, barely covered the window. there’s no reason to add more. Everything was bad.
Richard (5/5): fine for my overnight stay - Some effort was made with displaying historical items in the foyer, so that was nice. I found the lobby was open without any supervision or security, so that was a little concerning... I understand that the front desk cannot be manned 24 / 7, however some greater effort could be made to present some kind of 'presence' than simply an empty front desk and a phone number posted on the side wall. In fact with all the texts sent out before arrival, this way of contacting the front desk could have been better organized
Janet (5/5): Quiet room, we had new sheets and towels, clean room except for the mildew in shower and on shower mat. - Price, central location - it appeared much better on the website. The website was more optimistic about its charms. Maybe one other room was occupied. It felt like a large empty, quiet old hotel with most of the areas closed off, like it was not complete with the renovation by a long shot, and they just wanted to get the doors open.
