- Adams (8/5): - Room beds clean. Clean room very satisfied. Air conditioning very good. TV connection problem. Bathroom need improvement. The doors and tiles require little improvement. Shower taps not working properly. Washbasin stopper not working.

- Thangarajah (8/5): - Only good thing is, you can do early check-in for an extra fee, around 1/3 of whatever you paid for a day. Normal check-in time is 2pm, but I checked in at 4am by paying extra. Furniture, carpet and building look very old. Staff were friendly. They lock the hotel main door at 10pm and open at 6am. You need to call a mobile number to ask them to unlock the main door. They answered my 6th call when I called them while I was standing outside of the hotel. No shampoo or shower gel provided by the hotel, but you could buy them from the nearest supermarket that is found next to the hospital. Did not find any bin in the room, and the carpet was very dirty with lots of marks on it.
- Shantha (6/5): - This property was advertised as breakfast included. that's one of the reason i chose. It was limited to bread, butter, marmalade and an omelet. Wery disappointing. The bathrooms looked very old and not cleaned properly. Other than the house keeping staff and door man, no one bothered to ask how our stay was. Will not recommend this hotel to anyone.

- Verified traveler (2/5): Horrible Sapphire Colombo Hotel - The only pros is the location. Rest all are cons only. Small small insects, cockroaches freely roaming in the room and bed and it seems bad smell has been there for several years. The condition is horrible. The receptionist was totally unfit for that job. He tried to do his side business from their guests. Overall no value for money and I dont recommend.

- casie (2/5): - Our flight was delayed for almost 10 hours and informed the hotel through email as no one was picking up the phone and the next day I received an answer from the manager and there response " staff are sleeping it's middle of the night". Very rude. When we arrived around 4:00 am the reception was dark and someone was sleeping at the couch and someone woke him up from outside who had seen us and went to wake up the manager who was sleeping as well. After checking in they took us to our 2 rooms. The corridor was so hot and humid. As soon as we opened the room it was so unbearable heat and humid too. One AC was not working and they transferred us to another room. My daughter and her son couldn't take a shower as the bathroom was so disgusting, Sink was crack, mirror have stained but managed to stay for a day. it was so uncomfortable in any ways. No basic facilities. The beds were so noisy every time you moved. The rooms were so dark no night lamp, and the worst part no wall electrical outlets. They have only one outlet behind the TV which is not also universal. Finally we managed to charged our phone outside the hotel and checked out in the evening to stay in another hotel which is way beyond beautiful and very comfortable in every aspect. With all this unforgettable experience and not got any refund there's no way anyone will come around near to this hotel. I doubt even locals will never recommend. This property needs full upgrade

Reception staff no form of welcoming guests or smiling. The hotel needs to keep up with maintenance and revamp the place up.

- James (8/5): Nice hotel friendly staff - The staff was great. All very helpful from front desk to housekeeping. The room was spacious and comfortable. In room coffee, tea, refrigerator, and tv. Shower was good and hot. Breakfast buffet at additional charge was well appointed with local and western food selection. Hotel had a nice pool that was good since beach was a bit distant but walkable. There were many food places in easy walking from stores, bakeries, food stalls, and restaurants. Area was safe but always be careful. I could easily recommend the Sapphire for leisure, business, or family stays. One must always remember where they are and not compare to home hotles, especially chains. This is not a 5 star but was more than satisfactory for the price. One caveat which is not the fault of hotel; the crows in nearby trees were relentless in sqwaking. Traffic horns made for good competition in volume. Perhaps the hotel could replace windows with newer glass for sound barrier. Otherwise a very nice and well run hotel. I would stay again but ask for a room away from street.

- Verified traveler (6/5): Alright, can find something better - The location of the hotel is on the main street in Colombo. Quite convenient. It is situation in a local neighbourhood that don't have a lot of sight-seeing or tourist spot. The swimming pool of this hotel is alright - clean and quiet except no attendant there for any towel. Security of the hotel could be a concern as all notices have the highlight saying - any property lose is not the responsibility of the hotel. I don't have any valuable lose but it always worried me if my computer or cash inside my suitcase would be lose. Wifi is not reliable. I always take me minutes before getting on a website. Restaurant services is bad. The manager brought me to a table that guests just left after finishing breakfast. The manager simply put away the coffee cup without changing utensils. I never experienced that I have to ask services to put in new utensils as they never recognised it.

Negatives: Old and tired and in need of refurbishment. Ash trays in all rooms suggesting all rooms are smoking (although no smell of smoke in room). Poor reception on TV channels. No view from room. Expensive hotel restaurant. Limited local restaurants. Hotel restaurant started playing music around 6am which could be heard from bedroom. Wifi generally worked well but stopped working on a couple of occasions.

Toilet full of ants and later they moved better room. I came here with some recommendation and I want recommend anyone. Breakfast very little choice. Two nights we stayed in other hotel

Staff very friendly, checked in very late but no problems. Lovely pool and surrounds. Very clean and spacious rooms. Restaurant does wide variety of food and very tasty. Breakfast is good, western and Indian. Eggs cooked to order. Gym looked ok but we never used it. Would highly recommend.
