- Kai (5/5): -
- Cherly (9/5): - La piscina es hermosa y la propiedad esta bien cuidada La cabaña que nos tocó era muy basica y la mesera que nos atendió nada amable
- MgdRhv (10/5): -
- Alvarado (1/5): - Nada Nada
- DANIEL (10/5): - The nature, location, and the facilities. The lack of personnel attending the second gate/entrance.
- Pao (8/5): -
- Jan Segerius (10/5): Very, very good! - Very helpful owner! Even during regional blackouts! The apartment was everything it was advertised to be. Surprisingly a large 4 gallon jug of water was also provided free of charge and the hot water worked (unusual for a "jungle hotel" ;-) ). We were short some cutlery and plates, but this was solved immediately. The pool gets a little crowded on weekends as it is opened for the locals also.
- nanja (9/5): -
- Nelson (10/5): - Everything was Excellent
- Marcos (10/5): - Amazing place i love it❤️.
- Cristal (8/5): - Beautiful, clean, friendly
- Bradlee (10/5): Can’t wait to come back - Staff are great. The views are incredible and the grounds are immaculately kept. Clean and inviting.
- Priscila (10/5): - I really like the place,
The best caracol soup!!!! Great chicken, amazing host!!!
- Alon (10/5): Recommended. - Amazing view. Great team. Beautiful place None
- Kerstin (8/5): Stunning - The location and set up is a total wow! We arrived in torrential rain and with really slippery paths to take our bags through but we still thought it was amazing.
Our room (we think) had the best possible view (river, mountains and waterfall). It had a lovely hot shower and the kitchen was well equipped. Richard, the owner arranged our transfers and our driver Orlando even stopped to let us pick up supplies.
In terms of food, we had some great vegan options and the ones we tried were all delicious. Cocktails too.
The dogs that live there are gorgeous and love a cuddle. In the day time you can see large numbers of hummingbirds in the bar area.
The grounds have a number of trails but we also went for walks outside and felt safe doing so.
The pool area is inviting but was too cold for us in the weather we had.
Overall, we enjoyed our visit. There are only a handful of things that could have been better.
1. We were only there 2 nights but it would be good to have had housekeeping. If you have to throw toilet paper into a bin and food bins attract insects then we would have preferred to have had them removed.
2. There is a hairdryer, but it's shared. This could be a Booking.com issue but when things are advertised as in a room we think that should be 100% of the time.
3. and one we don't think the hotel management could do anything about but we're writing it to discourage future visitors from following suit, other visitors spent a lot of their time throwing firecrackers and fireworks from their balcony. It's such a beautiful place that we just can't work out why people would want to spoil it, but we had the residue in front of our door too.
- Kathleen (10/5): - The surrounding scenery was nothing short of spectacular and the villa was pristine! Also, fantastic, helpful staff who went out of their way to assist me when I had a travel issue. Hope to return someday!
- Fabien (9/5): Superb - Great place to stay ideally 2 nights!
Pool and garden are exceptional.
Dinner and breakfast are good too. Only drawback is the way to this remote place, a taxi will cost you 25-35$ one way.
- Mila (10/5): Exceptional - So many things: The entire location is so beautifully set up, the dogs were amazing, beautiful morning swims in the river, lovely staff,... great stay!
- Spencer (8/5): Great place - Great place to spent a good quality time with nature.
- Viviane (10/5): - Great place. The view of the balcony was amazing.
- Michael (7/5): Very quiet and not enough activity. - The food was good. All three meals. Steak dinner on the second night was excellent. The staff did not speak any English. There were no other guests in the resort. Wx was bad (cold and rainy) for half of the stay.
- Nelson (10/5): - Everything was Excelent!!!! Wonderful Place 👌
- Shelly (10/5): - Mountain side property, beautiful scenery. Excellent restaurant onsite
- Melissa (10/5): Beautiful property and excellent customer service - The property is beautiful and the staff is friendly and professional. They went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and having fun.
- Claire (9/5): Lovely place in a magical setting. - The setting is absolutely stunning: both the nature and the design of the space. Each house it very private, far enough from the others. The pool is how it looks on the pictures (which is not always the case). The bar area is surrounded by butterflies and hummingbirds and you can hear the river everywhere you are.
The staff is super helpful. Could have used a bit more variety in the vegetarian options but then again, the same can be said all over Honduras.
- Nick (9/5): The perfect place to relax, right in the nature. - Hotel right in the nature, near the river, perfect to relax and unwind. We did have a very good time there, wasn’t too crowded. Beds were a bit too firm to our taste. Bathroom’s ceiling need some renovations.
- Rodrigues (10/5): Exceptional -
- Karen (9/5): perfect getaway on the river - the hotel was in a wonderful location, easy to get too and had paths to the river. our room was large and comfortable although we spent little time there. the staff was very friendly and helpful. the pool was beautiful and the beer was cold. A counter in the bathroom would have been nice--two women need more space. The food in the restaurant was okay--although the quesadillas were delicious
- Reijnders (10/5): a 'King of the Jungle - experience' - Very large, luxury, comfortable lodge, friendly staff & very pleasant owner; laid-back atmosphere, beautiful scenery, good food. nothing worth mentioning
- Brion (10/5): Great vacation on the river! - The Beautiful gardens and walkways There Was nothing I didn’t like it was all wonderful
- Katherine (10/5): - Immerse yourself in the beauty of the Rio Cangrejal at Villas Pico Bonito. The property is absolutely stunning, right next to the river surrounded by palm and flowering trees. The infinity pool is gorgeous and refreshing. The food was delicious, and the service was wonderful. I will definitely be back.
- Genesis (6/5): Pleasant -
- Katie (10/5): delightful and comfortable experience - Property was stunning. The accommodation were clean and came equipped with all the essentials. having the pool and River made it very comfortable for the hot days.
- Hardy.a (10/5): Tucans, jungle and friendly staff! - Everything!! This place is just a magical retreat in the jungle. The pictures don't do any justice to this place is even BETTER! I booked the Colibri (Hummingbird) room, and it was adorable.
A couple of things to the travelers.
This is the jungle - be aware that you are a wild place and just enjoy nature and its benefits.
The place is an experience by itself; the rooms are comfy, clean, and have fans... To my surprise, the room had a kitchen and some utensils for an easy meal. Big plus+ nowadays!
The staff is accommodating, they may not have all the answers right away, but they are trying their best to give you the more accurate ones. These people are so friendly and nice that I want them to be my friends.
The food is fabulous! I'm a Honduran who lives abroad, and finding a good spot for food that doesn't mess with my stomach is a challenge; this was not the case - I ate four meals with my family, and everything was spot on! Just relax and leave the corporate clock back in the States. It's going to be worth it, I swear!
The owner is so nice, and his dog Lexi is going to melt your heart ❤️🐾
I did not have the chance to go on their tours, but knowing the staff probably will be fantastic!
Did I mention that this hotel is the only one with an incredible view of the Cangrejal River, and I spotted some Tucans? Even if you don't stay here, come for a meal and enjoy the view!
- Jacobson (10/5): The best - It’s hard to explain how magical this place is. It’s like living in the garden of Eden with whitewater rafting.
They arranged everything for us while we stayed here…transportation, excursions, amazing recommendations. I wish I could give this place 20 stars. The food at the resort can take a really long time to come, but it’s good food and reasonably priced. If you go in with a relaxed attitude and just enjoy the river and the flowers and the atmosphere you will not be disappointed.
- Jennifer (10/5): This place is Spectacular! - Villas Pico Bonito is one of the most beautiful locations we have visited. The villas are gorgeous and well appointed. The surroundings absolutely spectacular.
We were greeted at the ferry in La Ceiba and driven to the property.
We took a guided jungle hike up the mountain of Pico Bonito National Park with Ozny, who was a wealth of information. The hike was hard work but doable by us, a couple 60yr olds. We also went white water rafting with our guide, Pablo, whose experience and knowledge made it a fun and stress free couple hours.
The food and service in the bar/restaurant was top notch. It was a comfortable place to chat with other guests and enjoy the surroundings.
We would like to thank Richard, our host, for his warmth and professionalism.
I HIGHLY recommend visiting this amazing location.
- Barbara (10/5): Recommend highly this beautiful place with Richard being a fabulous host. - the area is laid out beautifully with plants, trees and flowers reflecting the beauty of the jungle. Richard is a great host and ensures you have an enjoyable, comfortable and interesting stay. He organised a jungle hike where we were collected from Villas Picos Bonitos by Ossi. Ossi was a fabulous guide and we saw two beautiful waterfalls. The second day we did river swimming and rapid rafting. We finished right by Villas Picos Bonitos and able to walk right back to our villa.
Food at the restaurant is good.
if you are thinking of visiting this part of La Ceiba do not hesitate to book here. An excellent and very enjoyable stay.
Thank you Richard and all the friendly attentive staff. nothing to dislike.
- Kristina (10/5): My new favorite place - Our family stay December 16 through December 19. We stayed one night in La Casita and two nights and Tucano. Both rooms were nice but we love Tucano because we had the Riverview.
We hiked Pico Bonito trail with Richards German shepherds, and just chilled by the pool and the river for the rest of this stay.
The food and drinks were delicious!
It is definitely A relaxing, beautiful spot!
Our family fell in love with the two German shepherds Ace and Lexi, Prosecco the cat, and the turtles.
Thank you Richard for being so welcoming. We will be back!
- Stewart (9/5): Superb -
- Mathieu (8/5): Very good -
- Karla (9/5): Superb -
- Mireya (10/5): - Beautiful
- David (10/5): - Beautiful location and property. Great food and service. Awesome pool and easy walk to the river. Living right in the middle of nature!!
- Alfredo (4/5): - Beautiful place rooms are in poor condition
- HAPPYGUEST (10/5): - It's a wonderful establishment with fantastic, helpful employees. The road in is what you'd expect for a rural road in Honduras. If you're up to driving it or use their airport service or a taxi then it's an amazing gem that shouldn't be missed!
Kudos to Richard who had the vision to create it and to his wonderful employees.
- Faith C (10/5): - Enjoy the stay and the grounds are great. Lots of scenery to enjoy and peaceful. Checkin is a little confusing and unsure about exactly what needed to be done for check in or check out. They are very accomodating as they even had the restaurant stay open when we were getting there at closing time. Food was great and really enjoyed our stay and will be making this our go to resort in Honduras
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Richard the owner and his staff were very friendly and offered great service. He upgraded our room at no charge and that was especially nice.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We stayed 2 days in this great hotel. Very friendly staff and a beautiful landscape. Would recommend it every time.
- John (10/5): - My family and I greatly enjoyed Villas at Pico Bonito. We stayed in the "el Bejuco" villa for four nights, which we found very comfortable for three people (although our 11-year old son has pretty much outgrown a sofa bed, and by this time next year we would need a two-bed villa). The grounds are lovely and well maintained. The pool is one of the better ones we have encountered and is especially welcome after a morning hike to the el Bejuco waterfall! The owner's two German shepherds, Lexie and Ace, became part of OUR family while we were there, accompanying us on our hike to el Bejuco. We ate many of our meals at the Lodge, although we also used the facilities in our villa to prepare our own meals. We found the food very good, although sometimes the approach to service (particularly at breakfast) was a bit of a mystery. One tip - you need to pre-order your breakfast the night before. If you arrive late in the day, remember to do this!) Fresh natural juices would have been preferred over juice mixes, both at breakfast and at the bar. The kitchen equipment provided in our villa was adequate but not extensive - no wine glasses for example - but the staff was very accommodating and did their best to respond to any request (including a request for wine glasses.) Richard, the owner, is extremely amenable, and happy to assist with your day's plans. In my personal view you will need to work hard to find bad things to say about this place.
- Erin L (10/5): Hard to leave this lovely spot! - Two couples stayed in the spacious, beautifully constructed Ceiba Tree house overlooking the pool area and river. Two good king beds in each bedroom, with fans and mosquito nets (no window screens) and 2 bathrooms. We had little trouble with bugs in March and were never too hot. The river and pool were perfect temps to lay around in. Loved the huge wooden bar and kitchen in the house, surrounded by beautiful jungle. Many flowers and birds. Good food and drink at the restaurant had to be ordered early, as they closed up around 6:30 and it is pricey and inconvenient to taxi to town, 25 minutes away. The friendly owner drove us to La Ceiba one day for supplies, as we did not have a car. Safe, clean, well-managed, welcoming, and quiet, this place is amazing! We also did a fun guided river tubing excursion, as the river was low for rafting - recommended! Hope to come again, we LOVED this place and our first trip to Honduras!!
- EdwardR (10/5): - This place is so beautiful- tucked away on the hillside next to the river. Richard the owner was wonderful and the staff was great, too. We will definitely be back!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great hospitality! Owner an awesome guy! The place is amazing, I was able to disconnect from the daily routine, relax and enjoy the pool and delicious drinks! Definitely recommended and will be back soon!
- C (10/5): - Amazing views! Beautiful location. Great place to stay to experience Pico Bonito Park.
