Guest Reviews
- Patrick (10/5): Relaxing and perfect stay - We had an amazing relaxing, calming stay at Sophia’s property. It was sparkling clean, well thought out and Sophia drove us to her favourite restaurants for lunch and dinner and picked us up and dropped us off at the train station. Couldn’t ask for better service! Plus breakfast was delicious, highly recommend staying with Sophia. We stayed a couple weeks after the earthquake and the property is very safe and has no damage.
- Kevin (10/5): - Loved it all! Many thanks Sophia!
- William (10/5): - Outstanding. Sofia and her husband are wonderful hosts. Quiet solitude and simplicity of the accommodations are perfect for a trip to the Park.
- Kung (8/5): - The host and the hostess offered top notch hospitality. They picked us up at the train station quickly and were always easy to contact for transportation coordination to and from the Taroko Visitor Center, where the busses drop off and pick up for entering the rest of the park. The breakfast they prepared was very professional and delicious, and was a great way to start the day, full of energy. The rooms are clean and comfortable, with very nice showers and bedding. We slept very well there and enjoyed our visit to Taroko National Park so much.
- Thomas (10/5): - 日式房間面積大,兩人住非舒服。女主人Sophia 非常熱情。
- Rob (10/5): Great place to stay at the edge of Taroko. - Great stay at this b&b for one night. Staff is superfriendly and very helpful in setting up schedule for next past of our tour. Breakfast very tasteful and more than good accommodation. Highly recommended.
- Stephanie (10/5): - Sophia was the most fantastic host and made us feel at home. Breakfast each morning was delicious, and Sophia was so generous, picking us up and recommending great local food and attractions. We loved our room and the beautiful property. Would recommend to anyone visiting Taroko Gorge and surrounds.
- CHAOYACHIU (8/5): - Ok
- TSUNG-TA (10/5): Perfect stay -
- SHIH CHIEH (10/5): -
- Verified traveler (10/5): Such a lovely stay - We enjoyed staying at Taroko Mountain dream homestay so much. Thank you to the wonderful hosts who made the stay such a lovely one. Highly recommended in every way.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We had a great stay. Nice big rooms and bathrooms, very clean, good breakfast, cute communal/breakfast area with books and games. Only wish they’d offer dinner so we could hang out there at the end of the day instead of driving to find something to eat.
- Jaclyn (10/5): Can't recommend this place enough!!! Amazing!!! - An amazing spot!! Sophia was so kind and accommodating. Beds were huge and comfortable. Very clean & spacious -- great location right next to the gorge as well.
- Gretchen (10/5): - Sophia was a wonderful host who went above and beyond to make sure we had a great stay in Taroko—driving us to dinner, helping us rent a scooter, and even doing our laundry. It’s in a great location just a few minutes’ drive from the entrance to the park. We couldn’t recommend more highly!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Totally recommend!! I m looking forward to my next stay with my family
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This really was a stand-out destination for us. We could not rate it more highly. Sophia, the host, & her lovely husband Tsu (sorry for the spelling) went out of their way to make it a great visit, collecting us from the train & driving us to the Taroko Gorge National Park. That combined with lovely, clean, tasteful (albeit simple) rooms, a delicious breakfast and entertaining conversation really all made it special. Stay here, you’ll be glad you did.
- Guia (10/5): Hostess with the Mostest - Sophia is he most amazing, helpful and gracious host!! She picked us up from the train station, showed us great local restaurants and helped us make the most out of our two days in Taroko. As if that wasn't enough, she makes her own yogurt and bread which was the best treat after hiking. I cannot reccomend her homestay enough and hope to visit again myself!
- B (10/5): - This has to be on of the best places I've ever stayed in my life. The hospitality from Sophia, the location, peace, quiet and comfort were second to none. I was so sad to leave and would definitely go back again.
- Oldie (10/5): - Lovely breakfast. Large and very clean room. Located at the doorstep of the Taruku. The owners are realy nice and helpful.
We enjoyed our two night stay!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Wonderful stay, the owners couldn't have done more to support the trip and guide on which hikes to do. Perfect stay
- Shirley (10/5): Convenient, close to Taroko trails, train station. - Very country style. Love the serenity the pets & fruit trees. Thankful to owners hospitality.
- Jonathan (10/5): - Our host Sophia was delightfully friendly. We chose the Japanese-style room and it was great. Spacious and clean.
- Chris (10/5): The perfect spot to explore Taroko from! - The personal service really makes you feel like you're staying with a friend. People looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the big Taiwan cities will find a tranquil spot very close to Taroko National Park - accessible by bike, bus, or otherwise by motor vehicle, you will be poised to explore the whole park with ease. The facilities are clean and spacious, and there's a certain charm to the premises that the animals and fruit trees lend an authentic rural feel to. I can't say enough about how great it is to stay here, we truly enjoyed ourselves and were able to relax and kick back.
- Don (10/5): Perfect spot to stay at mountain side - Definitely a plus for a good spot beside the gorge. The only thing that would complement better for your stay is a driver’s license for a bike ride.
I was worried at first that I will have to do a lot more than planned to make gorge exploration a breeze but out dear host Sophia had all prepared to help guests enjoy stay more than expected. Definitely will book the same place for future explorations.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Everything was perfect. - Sophia was very welcoming and friendly. She provided great recommendations and she even helped us to get permits to climb the mountain! We will definitely come back when we return to this area and recommend it to our friends.
- jenny (10/5): Wonderful place - Our stay here was excellent in every respect. We cannot speak highly enough about our hosts who were most attentive and gave us lots of useful information. The breakfast was the best we have had in Taiwan. The accommodation was very good and the communal dining area was lovely. Perfectly located for exploring Taroko Gorge.
- kathy K (10/5): Magical little getaway - Sophia and her family who own the b&b were lovely. Although the place was not walkable to anything, she picked us up and drove us to and from the gorge and town each morning and evening. The location is beautiful and only a short ride to the station/town/gorge entrance. They had delicious full breakfasts (homemade yogurt one morning!) and even offered to do a load of laundry for us.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Beautiful Countryside Accommodations - Super helpful!! Offered rides into town, let us leave our stuff at house, picked us up from park, brought our bags (including baby playpen), and dropped us off at train. Excellent healthy homemade breakfast! Out in the countryside, with bugs and cats and roosters crowing. Beautiful! We loved it!!
- Sindy (10/5): I would move in if I could! - Sophia was very nice and went above and beyond! She sat with us for over an hour trying to help us plan our next destination. The accommodations were spacious and clean, and the breakfast was very tasty. We wanted to move in permanently! The property was a bit out of town but she drove us to where we needed to go (Taroko Gorge, dinner, etc) and picked us up whenever we need her to. Overall, best place in Taiwan so far.
- Shuman (10/5): A very nice place for retreat - Hard to say goodbye to our lovely stay in Taroko happy mountain B&B. The owners are absolutely helpful and friendly. He picked us up in the train station and also took us back and forth between B&B and park or restaurants. The breakfast is super yummy with all home made break. The room is supper clean. Kids also name each cat according their characters. Our laundry was done before leaving the place. Definitely recommend this place to everyone.
- Kong Chee Chong (10/5): Nice and neat B&B Homestay with great hospitality - This B&B homestay is modest looking from the outside but the interiors are designed and built with love and care. The establishment is well-managed and well-kept with top-notch cleanliness. The hosts, Mr and Mrs Wu, are incredibly friendly, caring and accommodating. They'll make you feel right at home. We're here for cycling at Taroko Gorge National Park and this homestay is just next to the road that leads directly to the national park. Mr. Wu gave good directions and advice on the routes to Taroko Gorge, and Mrs. Wu fed us with good sustenance before the cycling. Her homemade bread is yummy.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Return stay within 3 months ! - Feeling at home, host was super nice & sincere. That brings my return to their B&B within 3 months with my family. Healthty breakfast, home made bread and even sauce. Owner even prepare 1 additional breakfast and additional blanket and pillow given for an extra person without surcharge ! Will stay there again if i visit Taroko again !
- S (8/5): Feel like home - Amazing hostess. Picked up us at the train station and took us to restaurant. Very quiet country feeling you will never get at hotel. Feel like going home. Will stay again!
- June Ong (10/5): comfortable & relax homestay - The owner were extremely warm & helpful. the breakfast was good! homemade bread and organic fruits provided ! 芳香万寿菊 in plain water taste was fantastic. i even ask for some ... planning to propogate it in singapore. hopefully i will be successful!
- Emilie&Aurelien (10/5): Lovely hosts and perfect location to visit Taroko! - Sophia and her family are just perfect hosts : very friendly all the time and also full of good advices and tips to help us get the best Taroko experience. They actually came to pick us up at Xincheng train station, let us borrow their bikes, gave us lift to the visitor center and helped us with the trail permits when needed. Their home is fantastic, very peaceful and the rooms really comfortable. If we ever havce a chance to come back in Taroko, we'll stay here again.
- Meredith (10/5): This is a great B&B for families! - Your hosts, the Wu Family, are the absolute best. We stayed here four nights in July and it was incredibly fun and relaxing. Our kids (5 & 7) actually cried when it was time to leave. They made fast friends of the Wu's daughters and spent hours each day playing with them. The property is about a 20 minute drive from downtown Hualien, so I would recommend renting a car if you are planning to stay for any length of time and want to really explore. The rooms are spacious and the hosts keep it super-clean every day. There is a large yard in front of the house and it was so fun every evening, after a day of sightseeing, to sit on the porch and watch the kids play while enjoying the cool breeze rolling down off the mountains at the end of a hot day. We hope to be back!
- Bruce (10/5): Best Breakfast at at Taiwan B&B - We loved our stay here. Very kind and helpful hosts. The best breakfast we had at any B&B in Taiwan. Delicious! The location is fantastic for touring Taroko Gorge. Very friendly and cute outdoor cats on property add a nice homey touch.
- Angela Patricia (10/5): Amazing place to relax and look at the stars! - The family in charge of the B&B was very very friendly, they speak English, they offered us bikes to go to the National Park, also pick up from the train station, very comfortable stay and quite! a place to relax!!! If I have the chance I will repeat!! :)
- Annie (10/5): Family-friendly - this place is special - We are a family with 2 young children (4 & 8 yrs old) on a round-the-world trip, so we have stayed in a lot places - and this B&B ranks as one of our favorites. Our kids LOVED it here. The hosts, Sophia & Shu, are incredibly generous, upbeat, and kind.
Sophia bakes her own bread and makes delicious homemade yogurt - if you are lucky, you'll get to try some at breakfast.
Our kids played outside, painted with water colors, played with Legos, pet the friendly cats, fed the chickens, and made great friends with the hosts' daughters.
The B&B is set in a lush atmosphere near beautiful mountains. We stayed in the western-style family room - it was clean and fresh with comfortable beds and nice cotton sheets. There is also a Japanese-style family room available with futon bedding. Our shower had good water pressure. And the room had fast internet.
We feel lucky to have stayed here - this place is special.
- valeria (8/5): Amazing three days in Taroko Gorge. - I had 3 great days ! The owners are just amazing! They pick you up from train station and I got dropped off the morning I left . I felt like home from day first!
They are very helpful on any thing you need to know around the area!could use their bikes. The property is only 10-15 minute by bike to the gorge.
Better then some expensive hotel I have been on in this Taiwan trip!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Awesome hosts! - One the best hosts ever! They are very friendly and helpful! Feels like home to stay there! Air is so fresh, hosts bake their own bread and grow their own crops! Not to mention their 5 cute kitties!
- Elizabeth (10/5): Delightful retreat in the park - Staying here was the highlight of our 2 weeek vacation. We were picked up at the train station and when we mentioned we wanted to go on a longer hike we were taken to the Taroko park to fill out the necessary permits. We could not have done the paperwork on our own since we do not speak Chinese. Sofia and her family made us feel so very welcomed going way beyond what we expected. Sofia speaks great english and taught us many things about Taiwanese food and culture. There are 5 friendly cats who love to snuggle on your lap as well as chickens, geese and a turkey. There are also lots of interesting fruit trees and plants on the property. Sofia is happy to give a tour. Everything growing is as organic as possible. Breakfasts included fresh baked bread, homemade yougurt and other delicious items. More like a retreat than a hotel stay. We feel so lucky and grateful to have found such a delightful accomodation and family.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Excellent home stay with wonderful host - Excellent home stay. Large room and our host was delightful. Great breakfast with some home made items. Quiet location at the foot bod the Taroko Gorge. Was a little difficult to find due to no English sign
- Pete (10/5): Quaint B&B - The site itself was a charming place to unwind after travels. The owners were more than happy to let us explore around their little farm. Breakfast was a mix of meats, local fruits and vegetables (with coffee or tea) which often resembled a western lunch served at whim. The owner was more than happy to help us plan our trip through Taroko National Park, drive us to the visitor centre, take us into town for dinner and have a cab ready for us when it was time to leave. We were very fortunate to stumble into a small family barbeque the first night which the owners graciously invited us to join. It was possibly one of the most immersive and endearing memories of our trip. The only thing we could think of on our train back to Taipei was that we wished there was time budgeted in our trip for Taroko and Hualien.
