Guest Reviews
- Stephen (6/5): - It's cheap and cheerful. For the price you pay, don't expect the Ritz. But the rooms are clean and comfortable, the wi-fi works, there is a nice big car park and the staff are friendly.
- Obumneme (6/5): - Its ok for tge service
- Mukesh (6/5): - There is no breakfast, l was information that there was but no person in the whole building Everything was closed.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Reasonable rooms for the price - Exactly what you would expect from price of stay. I used this as a stop over the night before an event 10 mins from here so was perfect for what was needed. Friendly staff in the bar and cheap pint so all good!
- Hannah (6/5): - Easy check in and convenient location
- Lee (8/5): - Really welcoming, good location. Was woken up about 6am by the guests next door talking really loud. Other than that, a good stay.
- Karen (10/5): - Stopped here a few times now, staff very polite and accomadating. Would recommend a stay. They do fantastic homemade pizza too. đ
- Robert (10/5): Great stay - Excellent.
Great staff and very friendly and welcoming.
Highly recommended.
- Kerry (10/5): - Had a great stay Luke and his team are great very friendly and approachable nice bar the breakfast is fantastic especially for the price and the pizza shack in the beer garden is really good excellent fresh pizzas definitely stay again as the rooms are clean comfortable with great pillows
- Karen (10/5): - We had a lpvely stay, it was quiet, clean and comfortable. Staff were really ftiendly and helpful. We had a great breakfast in the morning. Would recommend a stay.
- Michael (6/5): - No kettle in the room so you cant make yourself a cup of tea and no fridge
- Donald (6/5): - Easy location to get to
- Chris (8/5): - We couldnât regulate the water temperature in the shower. Other than that everything was fine.
- Helen Louisa (10/5): - Our stay was amazing staff was amazing they were so nice friendly helpful and kind will definitely 100% stay again
- Robert (10/5): Great staff! - Staff went above and beyond to accommodate me. I canât say enough about how friendly and welcoming everyone was. I canât wait to visit Birmingham again.
- Jake (8/5): - Great hospitality. Had entertainment on whilst we were there
- Richard (2/5): - The main lounge is crawling with flies. Multiple bathrooms have mold on the walls. The rooms have a horrible stench. The locks on the door are cheaply made, and anyone can see through them. I could easily hear what other people were doing late at night so it was hard extremely hard to rest. The property is unbearable in many ways.
- Paul (10/5): Staff were nice - Really nice staff but disappointed there was no fresh towels for 2nd night of stay and bed wasnât made up. Only other thing was no Kettle in the room.
- Rebecca (8/5): - Upon arrival and parking in the carpark I was concerned I have made the wrong choice. I went into the bar area and spoke to staff and I found them to be incredibly helpful and wanting to ensure that the process of checking in was easy. Though out my stay I felt comfortable and welcomed. The only criticism I have is that there was no food available through out our stay. However, there is plenty of restaurants and bars nearby and within walking distance. Overall I liked it there and plan to go back with the children. The new owner and the staff were so keen to help make my stay a good one. Yes there were events in the evening and during the day but I feel that was to be expected given the properties location and cost. It was nice to see the community actively use the building. I would like to thank all of the staff there for making my stay relaxing.
- Denise (2/5): Do not stay here - I have never stayed at a hotel this horrible
The noise was so loud noone could sleep
2 competing discos followed byfireworks at 2 am
The bed covers were stained
Shower didn't work
The fire door next to my room was left open all night and so my room smelt of cigarettes
People were fighting in the car park
The next morning the main door was locked so we could only exit by the fire exit
There were no staff around to complain to before we left
The car park was littered with broken glass as we left
- Rachel (2/5): Avoid - Although we knew this was a club we didnât realise it stayed open to 1am returned to Jo where to park, youths everywhere, broken glasses over car park, doors being banged till well over 2.30 am so no sleep
- Antony (2/5): Horror Movie - Loud music from two competing events at either end of the venue until 2am followed by fireworks. This was like staying in a night club. In the morning the carpark was covered in broken glass. Our stay here spoiled an annual family get together.
- Neil (8/5): - IDEAL for Airport and NEC
- Danny (8/5): - There are some terrible reviews for the place online but I found it absolutely fine. While it wasn't luxurious it was clean, the staff were friendly and helpful and it was perfectly comfortable.
- Stephen (2/5): Rubbish - Donât stay itâs a terrible place left my my charger in room someone stole it
- Zamil (10/5): - All in all, its a decent accommodation for people who are looking to whizz through Birmingham.
We needed a car to drive around to the NEC etc. This accommodation is not too far, but around 25 mins away from the centre of Birmingham by driving.
Can't complain.
- Phillip (4/5): - What can I say? The room and en-suite was lean and tidy. However, if you want a good nightâs sleep, dream on. The connecting door to the bar and room corridor was constantly opening and the music / karaoke suddenly belted out at Mach four volume. When the door was shut, I could still hear the cat being strangled on the karaoke. Then at 2 in the morning, 2 female voices woke me up with their loud discussion on rooms. Night 2 was worse with disco night turning into letâs get ready to rumble at closing time. Certain individuals decided to have a standup Barney and slanging match that keep going til 1.30am. Thank god on night 3 I remembered my painkillers and actually got some sleep. Again the room was clean and tidy but if your looking for a peaceful place to sleep, I would say take ear defence, as youâll need it
- Arshid (2/5): - Very unpleasant stay. Window had not latches and lock and was really felt unsafe all the time, Broken curtain and shortage in service in any way possible.
- Carol (6/5): - There were issues checking in. Very slow and was given someone elses room. Eventually the manager arrived and I was correctly allocated my room.
On the plus, the room was clean with a nice shower and quiet.
- Janet (4/5): - Staff on check in were good polite and helpful on getting keys the room very basic but looked ok booked as going to family event. On returning at 6:30 the room smelled of smoke, which continued all night, there was a party booked in bar area which started at 7pm with loud music which continued until 1:15am but because it was spring the clocks when forward so it was really 2:15am then it was the party customers shouting screaming and arguing for a further 30/40 minutes also some were staying overnight so they were shouting and banging doors. So hardly any sleep which was a shame as the bed was quite comfortable with lovely crisp linen. There was no bin at all, nowhere to hand clothes, the toilet moved and leaked every time you sat on it and the shower was dirty and mouldy, the windows were so dirty you couldnât see out of them also the TV didnât work and you couldnât make tea or coffee and couldnât go to the bar to order any as there was a private party on would I recommend no. Itâs cheap for a reason just a lot of reasons
- Harsheel (6/5): - We did not like the service given by the staff not clean the room shower was not working properly rest of the overall was good area n all
- Wai (8/5): - Nice and quiet⌠although the curtain was torn and the toilet door handle broken
- Jonny (4/5): - I must having checked in during a disco as the music was ear splittingly loud and check in was done at the bar.
The room only had a small amount of toilet roll, and I didnt really want to go back and ask for more. There were holes in some of the walls and the window would close so I had to out the heater on really high to warm up the room. I wouldnt choose to stay here again.
- Daniel (2/5): Don't believe the good reviews, avoid at all costs - Honestly it was terrible. I will say whoever took the pictures did a great job as the place looks nothing like these pictures.
Arrived at 9pm on Friday, check in was ok and I had to give a form of ID which is fine I've done that in places before.
Was given a piece of paper with the door codes, WiFi information breakfast times etc.
Was given some vague instructions on how to find the room myself as the staff didn't want to seem to leave the bar where they were having fun.
Security doors to the accommodation were constantly left open so anyone could walk in which is a bit of a safety concern when travelling wit children.
The room had no tea and coffee facilities but I could go to the bar and get one if I wanted. I'm not going to walk to the bar every time I want a cuppa.
The beds felt like they were basically planks of wood and some of the most uncomfortable beds ever and I've stayed in alpine huts which are literally wooden beds but they were somehow better.
The room did have an ensuite, but the shower didn't work properly. After about 60 seconds the water stopped running.
Breakfast on the first day was ok, turned up at 8:30 to be told that actually it was 9 it started but I could make a cup of tea or coffee while I wait. I decided on a coffee and wish I didn't, as I was trying to poor the milk out of the metal teapot that was used I noticed it wasn't pouring because there was a chunk of old milk like rubber in the spout.
I have more to say but run out of space.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Lovely place if you like dirt & raves at midnight! - Absolutely terrible! I had to leave.
When I arrived you check in at the bar. They had music blasting out which is fine but I was expecting it to quieten down a bit later and that my room would be in an area of the establishment where I wouldnât be able to hear the music or wouldnât be effected by it so much.
Unfortunately that wasnât the case. When I spoke to staff they assured me I wouldnât be able to hear it in my room. That was untrue. The whole room was shaking from the noise. I even put my noise cancelling headphones on to drown out the noise but it didnât stop the walls and beds shaking from the music vibration.
I tried calling the staff twice and there was no answer. As I was in the area for work for 3 days with an early start and late finish I couldnât afford to get no sleep so I had to leave and find another hotel to stay in.
I tried to claim a refund from Hotels.com and they completely ignored it. Absolutely disgusted as Iâve been a long standing customer and Iâm not normally one to complain.
The standard of cleanliness was very low, normally this wouldnât bother me as the beds appeared clean which for me is most important. But I could not take the noise. The standards here for guest satisfaction are on the floor and that is for both Hotels.com and Minworth.
Avoid this place at all costs as you will not get anywhere with hotels.com when it all goes wrong.
- Wai (8/5): - Good and quiet
- Robert (2/5): Not fit for purpose - The description you have on the website is obvioulsy well out of date, on arrival we waited 10/15 minutes to get keys, on entering my room 10 there was a very strong pungent smell of Detol or Bleach so much so I nearly wrenched. There was a large double window with no blinds or curtains, and although some attempts had been made to rid the room of smoke it still filtered through. The decor and surroundings in the room including the shower and toilet facilities ahd long senn better days. If I had not paid at the bar for the room I would not have paid at all but rather than make a fuss I left and booked into a premier inn.
- Lucy (4/5): - Room was adequate except hardly any toilet roll and no extra provided. Bathroom was very bare. They advertised that they offer breakfast from 8.30am but when we went to the bar there was no staff on site. We were locked in but we could exit from the side door. Friday and Saturday night was loud music which made the beds vibrate because it was so loud and the music didnât stop until 1.30am. Itâs sad because the room was adequate for the price but the noise and the lack of breakfast let it down. We left a day early and booked somewhere else.
- Amanda (4/5): Appalling service and facilities - We knew it was a social club with rooms but did not expect there to be broken things in the room eg coat hooks therefore nowhere to hang anything, broken toilet roll holder. There was no bin in the room nor any form of tea/coffee facilities. Staff were few and far between so finding someone to ask for anything was difficult. There was no information in the room other than a piece of paper giving breakfast times and check out - this was in a drawer which we didnât
use. Water pressure is erratic so hot one minute cold and a dribble the next.
We were not in the room for much time other than a base to sleep, we were happy that it was a working club but what we we not happy with was loud music, slamming doors and it going on until 1.30am.
- Gemma (6/5): - The room was not ready upon arrival, said had run out of bleach, then said vacuum was broken. Asked to put luggage in room as was visiting family (purpose of the stay) was taken to a single room when booking was for a family room (there were 3 of us). Staff apologised and took us the correct booking. Adverts regarding breakfast were around the bar area, when we asked about this was told breakfast was not being served this weekend. Understand that the venue is under new management. A bit of organising and staff training appears to be needed.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Avoid at all costs. - The place was dreadful, ran by young girl's it seemed, breakfast stated in booking from 7am, when quiered i was told thats old details and its from 8.30. No good for us leaving before 8am for crufts.
Heading to the room the hall was filthy, our room wasnt even hoovered, this simple thing would have made the room initially look better. The TV didn'work, not even 1 bedside lamp, shower didn't close properly wetting the floor, half a roll of toilet paper for 3 guests, no roll holder. Not a unit or towel rail so clothes or towels are laid on the toilet for private dressing or the dirty floor.
No mattress protector when checking the mattress which gave way it was so old when sat on, no filling, with just a huge dip in the centre. Then we saw all the stains it was unbelievable đł on arrival it stated newly refurbished, this must mean the furniture which was nice and clean, this was the only plus the place has.
Had we another option there's no way we would have stayed, sharing a single bed to avoid the one we dared look at. This venue should not even be supported on any booking platforms.
- Louise (4/5): - PLUS POINTS
â very inexpensive accommodation
â comfortable bed
â free parking
MINUS POINTS
â no TV channels worked: video badly pixelated and audio broken up
â no kettle available despite advertised â we had to go out and buy one
â no hooks for coats
â no towel rail or hooks in the shower room
â no bins in the room or the shower room
â no light other than the stark ceiling light
â great deal of noise late into the night from the bar
â five police cars in attendance due to fighting!
- Robert (10/5): - .
- jemma (2/5): Shocking - Stayed elsewhere - The room was dirty on arrival. Blood on the towels. We didnt end up staying and left for another hotel.
- Pat (4/5): - From the photos it looked great..NOT..feet stuck to hallway carpet paint coming off skirting doorframe..window in room was filthy ,you couldnt see outside of, toilet and shower awful, tv didn't work.nothing at all like the photos,I think it must have been a 50's working mans club, the only thing good about it was the bedding,,pristine white bedding, apaert from tht was worth the ÂŁ50 for the night, would not recommend
- Feroz (2/5): Really terrible place - Room was cold , no curtains , tv didnt work it was absolutely terrible experience
- David (8/5): - No instructions for electric radiator not adjustable
Remote for to not working
Clean Towels and lotions provided
- Matt (10/5): Perfect budget hotel! - Needed a twin room for a short term stop off. Room was perfect for our needs.
- Akashdeep (2/5): - For your bedroom you have a frosted glass window which you canât open.
- David (10/5): A reasonable stay - For the money this hotel was excellent.. if you are hoping for all the bells and whistles this is not the place, but if you need somewhere confortable and cheap to lay your head then this will more than suffice
- Verified traveler (4/5): A bit rough around the edges - Got into the room and the window was wide open, room was freezing. The small heater took ages to heat the room.
Broken door handle on the bathroom door. Mould on roller blind. Cobwebs everywhere. TV had no remote. There were a few teabags, milk and 1 coffee sachet, but no kettle.
Bed was comfy and bathroom was in good condition
- Georgina (2/5): - Dirty, falling apart, holes in walls
- Patricia (6/5): Was ok but not very relaxing - It was ok the shower could of had a better clean there was leftover products in the shower and hair in there and it's got a crack in the bottom of the shower.
It also was very noisy in the night
- john (2/5): Very poor - I booked here for 2 nights as I was working away. On the description it stated that there would be WiFi giving at least 25 Mb but I was only getting 87Kb which would not even load the Google search page. There was no Kettle in the room. Coat hangers hanging off the wall, bathroom door handle hanging off and the paint on the ceiling was more than flaking off. This was a none pet hotel but I had a dog barking outside my room on numerous occasions throughout the first night. The blinds on the window where broken and I needed to put a stool and my laptop bag on the windowsill, just to create privacy. The room itself was like a freezer and the heater that was in the room took over 2 hours just to take the chill off. As I said earlier, I had booked this for 2 nights but due to the lack of WiFi and the overall condition of the room, I left after the first night. I know this was a budget hotel, but just wow, this is the worst place I have stayed and will not be back!
- Royston (6/5): - No tea/coffee mskimg facilities in the room, TV reception was very poor pixelated picture. Wasn't made clear where breakfast was served and was given three seperate starting times - was told verbally start time was 07.30, notice outside the club states 08.00 start time, notice inside the club states 08.30 start time. Website statrs do evening meals Monday to Friday until 9pm, I got there at 4pm on the Friday when asked about evening meal, to be told they don't do meals at the weekend.
- Rebecca (8/5): - Comfortable room very comfortable bed shower was amazing the only downside was the mould stain on the bathroom ceiling the breakfast was amazing the staff were really helpful and friendly i will definitely stay here again thank you for a delightful stay
- Bolanle (8/5): - OK
- Tasneem (8/5): - Grim looking on the outside, but fine on the inside. Clean, warm and comfortable, with a cosy room. Its not The Ritz, but it's pleasant enough for a night or two.
- anthony (10/5): great value stay - second stay here, great value for money, staff are fantastic, bar warm and friendly, quiz was great, will be back when possible!
- Aimz (2/5): - Absolutely Minging!
Checked in to a hostile welcome. Toilet seat was broken in the room. Quick to fix it but later found one of the beds was half sunk in. Carpet looks like it hasnât had a good hoovering for a while. There is cobwebs and mould up the window. Milk was mouldy. Shower is broken. Canât turn the temperature down so couldnât shower the kids. Went to the bar for a drink to be told we wasnât aloud to sit there because of a private party. Was sent to the lounge where it was very uncomfortable and no one serving.we left to find food elsewhere.
Was rudely woken at 1.30 am by Susanâs constant panting and groaning have her yearly bonk!
Jesus I even heard the bloke next door using the loo and burping his head off!
Couldnât speak to Anyone about the bed because the party was in full swing and letâs face it they donât give a crap about guests anyway!
- Ben (10/5): Travelling Van Man - Great Stay
- Graeme (10/5): Great clean and welcoming - Great place nice clean and fresh room .Drinks in the bar very good at lower than average prices.Would stop here again if in the area .
Only gripe is food stops being served very early so have to go out for a meal after 4pm ish .
- Verified traveler (2/5): 1 Star Hygene. Ran by Locals, for Locals - Upon arriving there was a crowd of people outside being loud and aggressive with alcohol, we went into the building to find that you have to wait at the bar to check in, the bar was redeculously loud and not a very nice environment to be in. We got the key and went to the room, dropped the bags off and left straight away to find somewhere to eat. We were hoping to eat at the lodge but it was a horrible environment, too loud and THEY ONLY HAVE A 1 STAR HYGINE RATING!
Upon returning to the room, the people out the front were even louder, they have no respect for anyone who isn't a local, and we had to push our way through into the building, going through the bar to get to the room was just the same except there was a DJ who must have thought everyone was death with how loud he was playing the music.
When we got in the room, we starting to look round abit, and that's where it gets worse!
The room was not clean, we could hear the music and everyone shouting in the bar clear as day. There was a smell of damp in the room, water left in the kettle and all round a complete pigsty. We called Hotels.com as I refused to go into the bar to find someone. They called the "Hotel" (barn) and they moved us to a "quieter room" which was in fact in a much worse state, and you could still hear the bar and music clear as day. The host at the "Hotel" said that they are a lively place, don't know if that is regarding the drug deals in the car park or the deafening music.
We left without stayin
- a d (2/5): below expectations - this is a pub, people smoking and fighting by the doorways, it was a sat night stay, breakfastbis nit included which I would get as. standard, in a regular hotel, inside the room smells funny kind of old
- Paul (10/5): - Friendly staff and atmosphere! Great food and prices
- Verified traveler (8/5): 10-12-19 - Stayed here for one night on business. Food choice was really good and very reasonably priced. To go with that, the quality of the food was great. Atmosphere in the bar was good for a pint with my meal whilst the football was on. Afterwards went up to my room to watch abit Netflix where the WiFi was also very good with no glitches or stutters. Room was a good size for one night and up to a good clean standard. Morning breakfast was available, I paid around ÂŁ4 for a full English, it came and was definitely worth my money, it came fresh and with the amendments I request. Would recommend for anyone staying in the area on business for a night or two.
- Jim (8/5): - Friendly staff and check in
Great bar prices
Excellent comfortable bed best I have had in the area
Fantastic breakfast even though I chose the smaller of the cooked breakfasts on offer I wish I had gone for the larger one
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Clean and friendly, bar had a DJ on until 12o/clock set up at the side of the hotel rooms, not the greatest idea.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - clean room beds clean n comfy but lack of facilities
- Jo (10/5): - Brilliant night stay! Food lovely staff friendly and entertainment was great too!!
- Steve (8/5): good room. - Nice room, good for short visits
- WILLIAM (8/5): above average place to stay - very clean and warm place to stay and locals vary friendly and helpful
- Verified traveler (6/5): Not bad, not great - The room was clean and the price was decent. Food in the restaurant was reasonable and affordable. The shower would occasionally bounce hot/cold which could give you a bit of a shock, and the fan was very loud. Housekeeping would always leave the window open and the heating off, so returning back to the room meant it was freezing (stayed in october). Iâd probably stay again if I had to, as I said the price was decent but it was overall average.
- Tim (6/5): - Basic but clean and quiet. Ideal for one night before an early start. What may have been lacking in luxury was more than made up for by the friendly welcome.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - It was ok as just needed bed for night room was clean
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Cleanliness. Alternative from City crowd stay, country style hotel
