A lovely smell of candies and sweets welcomed me, and the charming interior design made the place feel warm and welcoming right away. The reception team was extremely kind and supportive, and they even accepted my request for an early check-in, which I really appreciated. The location is amazing, close to everything, and the Wi-Fi is super strong — perfect for remote workers like me. Honestly, I felt at home.
• Akie (10/5): Very convenient place for travelers - It's very well located. quiet neighborhood but only a few minutes to bus terminal, city center for tourists ( old within wall part where most atomospheric restaurants and shops that target tourists are located ) and more modern everyday shopping facilities light next to it (like super markets, bakery, casual restaurants etc). The room is clean and functional. Nothing in particular. Reception was always empty but not a problem for me.

The location is perfect, close to everything (the center, the old port and the bus station)... It is great value for money and Chara is a wonderful host! Thank you and see you again soon❤️🙏!
• Kinga (10/5): Warm and comfortable despite rainy weather. - Great location - all tourist must-sees are near by. There’s also plenty of bistros, shops and conveniences in the area. Despite this central location the district was calm and quiet at night. The hotel is very clean and tastefully decorated. We were offered a room with a balcony. Great for evening chill with the street hustle down below. All the necessities are available in the room and the mattress is very comfortable. Finally - our great hostess. We arrived early enough so despite self check-in available and ready for us we met the hostess. Kind, warm and very accommodating as we had a late flight back home and wanted to leave the luggage after the check-out.

• Patricia A (4/5): Avoid This Place - The housekeeper is a lovely lady. Other than that, not much. The husband of the owner couple, who I encountered late in a long stay is a nice man. No one available to check in when I arrived. Bird poop on the balcony. The rooms do not live up to the pictures. Smell of old building was noticeable when I arrived. Long flight of 40 stairs to get to the first level from the lobby . The woman who owns the place is a real snake. If you say you don't think the room looks so nice and there are too many stairs she takes you down the street to another building where the lobby is in a horribly run down state and says you can stay here instead. Although we had little interaction during my long stay, when I saw her drinking coffee at the cafe downstairs, she tried to hide behind her friend, pretending not to see me. The taxi driver described her as "stuck up". I agree. I asked to arrange assistance for bringing my luggage down the long stairway in advance of the checkout. She gave me the impression I would have to do it myself. I was on the verge of complaining to booking dot com when she finally agreed to arrange it. The room has large numbers of tiny ants that appear if a crumb is dropped. I looked inside the electric kettle. Live ants were swimming there.

• Karen (10/5): Wonderful, convenient accommodation, close (3 minute walk) to the bus station and close to cafes etc - Central location and easy walk to all areas of interest, especially the bus station, which is useful for all day trips and getting to and from the airport. Nice building and next to a great cafe. Nothing.
• Alison (9/5): - The location was very central to lots of shops ,cafes etc and only very close to the beautiful harbour. The room was airy and the bed was huge ! Fridge and kettle very handy and our room had a lovely little balcony to sit and watch the world go by, not a sea view but pleasant all the same. The staff were lovely, really happy to suggest the best places to eat etc . We even got to keep our room on checkout day as the owner didn't have a booking coming in ,that made our last day so much better.

• Ina (9/5): - TheJoy ist sehr zentral gelegen, fast in der Altstadt. Alles (Altstadt, Strand, Archäologisches Museum) kann leicht zu Fuß erreicht werden. Es ist ein sehr guter Ausgangspunkt, um Chania zu entdecken. Es sind viele kleine Cafés in der Straße. Die Inhaber und das Personal sind sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit.

• Marta (6/5): Non mantiene le promesse - Posizione comoda al centro e vicino alla stazione dei bus. Silenzioso. La pulizia della camera sarebbe da migliorare, così come da eliminare la muffa nella doccia. Il supporto del doccino in bagno era rotto e ci hanno detto che non era possibile aggiustarlo, quindi per quattro notti di permanenza abbiamo dovuto arrangiarci a lavarci tenendo il doccino in mano. Il nostro balcone era fuori dalla camera (con accesso dal corridoio comune) con sedie e tavolino coperti di polvere e qualche regalino di volatile e nessuno stendino dove mettere teli e costumi. Un solo comodino che ostruisce parzialmente l'accesso alla porta nel bagno. Arredi essenziali e abbastanza vissuti. Che dire, ho soggiornato in alloggi ben più modesti, ma il questo caso la qualità offerta non giustifica il prezzo pagato.

Temiz çok kötüydü. Oda toz içindeydi. Havlular lekeliydi. Banyoda tuvalet kâğıdının konulduğu yer kırıktı. Tuvalet kâğıtlarını lavabo kenarına koyduğumuz için hep ıslandı. Klozet kırıktı. Islak kıyafetleri kurutabileceğimiz bir alan yoktu. Odanın olanakları yetersizdi.
• Тамерлан (6/5): - All in all, it is Ok hotel if you are on the budget. Want to specifically thank admin lady Hana, she saved our day by quickly changing our original room. Location wise the place is superb. One caution to guests, try to specifically avoid Green room, it has only one window. What i would suggest to the managers is add at least a microwave to the common kitchen, not even asking for a simple coffee machine. Also, there was no way to dry the swim suits etc, rooms need dryer hangers.

• Lasha (9/5): Superb - Great location, right next to the old town. We had a big and spacious room with a balcony. Everything was clean and comfortable. Would come back for sure. Only thing was that bed had two small mattresses put together, that were drifting apart sometimes. Also there was no possibility to put do not disturb sign for the cleaning lady on the door. Otherwise all good.
• Maddy (10/5): Joyful stay at The Joy - Joy was extremely helpful in rearranging rooms to accommodate our request for a lower floor, accessible room. She even changed our room part way through our stay to give us more space and direct access to a lovely balcony. The hotel is beautiful and nicely decorated. Evenings on our Yellow Room balcony overlooking the vibrant street. Comfortable, quality beds. Well equipped room, with good storage. A communal sitting room we can use. The location is a very nice local area less than ten minutes walk to the harbour - best of both worlds. 15 minute walk to Koum Kapi beach one way (check out the wee beach in front of Machalas Restaurant; they are happy to seat you before and after swimming) and not much further to Nea Chora in the other direction. If you walk down Selinou to get there check out Syntrofia Ovelistirio for gyros at number 25 on your way back!

I didn’t have an auto at the time i was staying there but I don’t know where you would park. Better ask on that front.

Great location, maybe one of the best in town because you are very close to the harbor and old town area, but still on a quite street. Very close to shops, bars and restaurants. Right at the entrance you'll find a great place with coffee and pastries. 2 mins walk to well known bougatsa place (Iordanis). Sometimes can be difficult to find a parking space on the nearby streets. Otherwise, the accommodation is great.

• Susan (8/5): Very convenient place to stay. - It was close to the old town without being in it, which I had wanted. It was near the Bus Station as well, which I wanted, too, for when I needed to catch an airport bus. It was close to the shops, which the real Greek people used, not just tourist shops. It was also quiet. It was also within easy walking distance of the lovely port area. The staff were very kind and very pleasant. It was an old property and had a great shower and a really comfortable bed. The room was spacious with efficient air conditioning. It was good value for money. There were a lot of steps up to my room.
• Nigel (10/5): Always my accommodation of first choice in Chania. - The Joy lives up to its name. The welcome is genuine. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The situation is perfect for Chania Old Town, and it’s close to the KTEL bus station. All good.

• Gabriela (8/5): Clean, central, close to restaurants and bus stop, far from beaches - Good location for the old town and restaurants. Spacious room, staff was friendly and cleaned our room regularly. Very close to the bus station so easy and quick to find arriving with the airport bus. The air was a bit stuffy on the warmest nights, the Aircon was on the loud side and not very good. We ended up opening the windows wide but this meant the noise from the street could be disturbing on occasion. To get to the nice beaches, e.g. golden beach, from here you need a bus, bus stop is pretty close though. No elevator, so a bit difficult to get our suitcase up.

• Anamaria (8/5): A nice place to stay and enjoy Crete:) - Very good location, close to the main bus station, old city, supermarkets etc and also walkable distance to the beach. It is an old building with beautiful design. The room had good AC, comfortable bed and clean towels which are changed every 2 days. Friendly staff. A little noisy for a sensitive person, especially the old refrigerator which we turned it off. The room was a bit dusty on the surfaces when we arrived, otherwise it was pretty clean. Long and steep stairs to the room, but we managed it easily cause we didn’t have a lot of baggage.

Really saved the day as the group was tired from an early flight. The energy of the hostess was so positive and the rooms were charming. We loved our stay! Keep doing what you are doing theJoy 👏 This isn't really a negative but it might be a problem for some people. You have to climb some steep stairs to get to the rooms. However, even the less sporty people in the group got used to it fast. Also, I'd put some extra towel hangers in the bathroom ;)

I don't know how often they clean the room, but there was hair everywhere on the floor. And there were some ants on my desk. Some people were very loud in the morning and evening, so I couldn't sleep. No elevator.

No elevator (it wasn’t mentioned), long and steep stairs, a common hair dryer for all rooms that may not be available when needed, no breakfast option, self check-in.
