Jasmin (10/5): A tranquil experience - Customer service by Elisha was excellent! Before arrival, she sent me an email to check on my status as I was unreachable on my non-US number and needed to confirm on my reservation. The place is so tranquil; upon arrival, I immediately extended for another night, knowing that I would enjoy the peace and quiet. There were a few guests around, and we all had our own spaces - I went on my runs around the compound while others had their activities. The kitchen was self sufficient - I could cook simple meals with the appliances provided. The bed was so comfortable - my watch measured that as my best sleep in months. All the information & recommendations were written down so it was easy to navigate around the area to places close by. Tried Rose Garden Restaurant for dinner as recommended and it did not disappoint. Drove to Smithville downtown and spent half a day chatting with the local store owners/residents. Also did a 3hrs kayak with Canoe the Caney nearby and had an easy day out. There is no lack of activities if one wishes to do. Overall, the place provided the serenity I was looking for before heading back to city life. Very glad to have found this place!

They are pet friendly so I was able to have my dogs with me which really helped put my mind at ease. I will absolutely be coming back!
Dakotah (10/5): - Awesome experience start to finish. Property was quiet and clean. Staff is available 24/7 for questions. WiFi is a bit spotty as it’s a community WiFi but we honestly didn’t mind. We took it as an opportunity to play some games as a family. We stayed in hilltop and honestly, my kids had more fun playing in the giant wheelchair accessible showers than anything else lol. Home was well kept and clean, honestly felt like I was staying with an older relative as opposed to a rental property. Highly recommend for anyone looking to just have a quiet weekend away.

Cheryl (4/5): Noisey - The room was very nice but it was very noisy. I could hear the people upstairs everytime they walked across the room. I could hear the neighbors right next to me. It was not a very restful night.
Edward (6/5): Retreat from this retreat - If no time was made clear that the retreat was actually the real house for wayward youth. The day before my stay, I received a phone call where I had to provide credit card, and it was then explained to me that there was no alcohol allowed (which was fine) but there was also a curfew noise after 10 PM to 8 AM on the back of the brochure in the room, there was a long list of the cost of items if they disappeared from the room. And the breakfast was really just breakfast snack bar granola food. I submitted a review about this place today after we got there and the next morning I was confronted about that review since we were the only guests there. Upon returning from dinner, the parking space closest to the room was blocked by the managers, large truck , which, for all the Christian overtones does apparently apply to consideration for others. Then we were told to park it off on a hill. Overall, it’s a nice place, but not a place for a couple to go for romantic time. Be aware that it is actually a retreat and not really a hotel. It is priced as a hotel price.

Rachel (10/5): - The property is absolutely beautiful and sits right on the lake. Our room overlooked the lake and mountain range, which made the quiet, quaint experience so much better. The grounds had lots of places to play, fish and sit in peace. We would stay here again if ever back in the area.

Connie (4/5): - The pool was one of the reasons I booked the retreat. When we got there it was closed and said maybe ready the next day. It was opened the next day but still green and nasty. You would think July 4 th weekend the pool would be ready for guests. On a lighter note, the room was perfect just wish it had been on the lake side.

accman12 (10/5): Nice Inn by the lake - Stayed in a room in the Inn. Very nice room, nicely decorated and well maintained. Larger than a standard hotel room with a small kitchen including a two burner stove, microwave and a small fridge. There are a few pots, dishes and utensils in the room to use if cooking. I got a room on the lake side with a good view. The second floor rooms on the lake side have a long, interconnected balcony with dividers between each. First floor rooms on the lake side have individual (non-connected) balconies. Second floor rooms on the pool side have a long interconnected walkway with rocking chairs. No restaurant on site or nearby. Need to go 15 minutes into Smithville for a few restaurants (mostly fast food) or drive 25 minutes into Cookeville for a bigger selection of restaurants.
Jane (10/5): Nice quiet stay. - We really enjoyed the quiet relaxing nature of the retreat. Our room nicely decorated. Nice to have a small kitchen area. Balcony overlooking the lake was nice! Only downside to our stay was the bathroom had one switch that turned on vanity lights and vent over toilet which sounded like a jet plane! Would b nice when workout the vanity not to hear all that racket the whole time.
Zoe (10/5): - The view is simply spectacular. This is a great option for a work traveler such as myself who wants to buy and cook food for extended stay. The walking trails are lovely and the craft center is just minutes away. I will return here! If you want more eating options, it may be worth considering driving to Cookeville but if you want to be more local-this is the best place!
Shannon (10/5): - Beautiful property. The lake view is wonderful. Furniture was comfortable and clean. Looked remodeled with new floors and bathroom. But still had old ac and appliances. Everything worked well. We will definitely stay here again.
Al (7/5): Plain Jane Accommodations - Slice of Americana, forgotten, tucked in the hills of Middle Tennessee. Amenities as promised - lake view WIFI easy parking. Nature. There are dining options within 5-10 miles. Forlorn accommodations. It's for a good cause - the place is a foster home facility, and admits it needs a spruce-up. Hope the fix ups are completed soon. Unfortunately, not much walking around the property ... it's all up and down.
Gayle (7/5): Good - Beautiful location on a lake in TN hills. All in our party had full sized refrigerators, but us - we had a college dorm size. And, the bathroom fan was annoyingly loud; also better lighting in the bathroom would be welcome.

The staff are courteous, friendly and helpful. We love it here and hope to come back very soon. If you are in this area, I highly recommend staying here.

LaShawnda (10/5): - Beautiful, quite, family friendly property. Staff were more than amazing. If you are in the area and would like a nice place to stay with your dog or family then this is it! They even have a boat dock so you can keep your boat in the water overnight. For those of you who have kids, this is a very hilly property. I found myself going up and down the steep embankments several times instead of going the long way around using the road. It was a good workout. LOL The place could use some maintenance however. I saw several boards that needed replacing on the buildings along with part of the dock that needs repair. The horseshoe area also needs help. Other than some minor things, our stay was wonderful and I would recommend this place.

thejustinlong (10/5): Great Place and Great Staff - We just got back from a 5 night stay at The Retreat At Center Hill. Our first night the AC went out on us, but Tina and Jamie took great care of us. They allowed us to stay in different Cabins until our AC unit was fixed (which was incredibly fast considering they had to install a whole new unit), and allowed us to keep our things in our original cabin so that we did not have to move everything. We were only slated to stay for 3 nights but due to the AC mishap they put us up for another 2 nights on their dime. We loved our stay and had a great time in the pool with our girls as well as cruising Center Hill Lake from the convenience of our private boat slip. This was not our first visit to The Retreat and it will not be our last. Also, Anthony does a great job in housekeeping and has a great passion for my Tennessee Titans!

Susan (10/5): Quiet Escape - We just wanted a short getaway to explore sights east of Nashville and came upon The Retreat at Center Hill Lake. Our stay was short and absolutely peaceful. Center Hill lake is lovely and the retreat occupies a beautiful location. We hope to come back again. Please note they are an alcohol and smoke free campus.

It was very peaceful and quiet; a very relaxing getaway that felt like we were miles away from civilization but were conveniently just a few minutes off the interstate and away from historic downtown Smithville. Our room was very clean, the bed was comfortable, and we were surprised to have amenities like a two burner stovetop with everything we'd need to cook a meal (except the food!). The staff was very accommodating & helpful and the continental breakfast was excellent! We will definitely stay here again!

Lots of towels and toiletries - coffee in the room which was great. The property itself is dated; HVAC units in the room cooled well but were noisy; not a lot to do about that. Mattresses could use an upgrade. Otherwise good visit..

687troy (10/5): 28th Anniversary Get-Away - We stayed 3 nights in the Laurel, it was clean, comfy, quiet & bet friendly (brought out 1yr old MatliPoo). Perfect having a little table, grill and fire pit right outside. Only negative was the mattresses were hard, especially the king in the master bedroom but it may of been new and needing a little breaking in....Both the headboard/footboard in both bedrooms looked new/upgraded and the bed linens were nice...towels too. We fished at the boat doc one day, and my wife caught a 4-5lb largemouth bass in the morning and a 2lb hybrid bass in the evening. Had planned to canoe the Caney (canoe rental only 5 min away) but too much rain the second day we were there so the river was running to high/fast the following day. The folks at Canoe the Caney were happy to rent us a canoe and drop if off at the boat doc here so we could paddle the lake, or rent us one of their pontoons too which was great to know. We have a Pontoon in a slip at one of the larger marina on the lake so just went there our last day....worked out really well... The grounds were well maintained, and the staff really friendly. We felt welcome and will be back.

justmeTNred (6/5): Nice ppl but not your average place - We were not familiar with this "retreat" and was not aware it was a rehab / motel. The rooms were clean, the grounds had some good hiking trails. We were awakened early by loud voices finding out there was some sort of group counseling in a meeting room and the youth were arriving. No smoking or alcohol allowed on premises and we understood why, seems it is used more as a rehab than motel.
shamix615 (4/5): Nice place, but unfairly charged - It is a no smoking premises, which I was unaware of. But common courtesy tells me not to smoke indoors or around ANY other visitors. Which I did not. When I was informed the next morning by a staff member while OUTSIDE smoking I apologized and smoked no more on premises. So when a friend met me there prior to check out she brought in some cones she had bought on the way. Because she thought they were cool and wanted to show me. They were never opened nor never used. Well she left them on the desk. So because the staff was being judgmental they made accusations that the room smelled. Very very untrue. No possible way. The stinkiest thing in that room was barbecue from the night before.NOTHING was smoked in or near that room.

DebbieTrombley (10/5): Perfect! - Because of my sister's death earlier in the month and the full responsibility of handling her affairs combined with buying and selling our own home, I knew a quick escape was in order so I booked one night for my husband and me. The minute we pulled off of the highway into the tree line drive, all of my tension left me. The tranquility of the area was soothing to my soul and the accommodations exceeded my expectations. I know we will be back but I'm also spreading the word to my church family and all of my local friends.
TheAmazingBoater5554 (10/5): Amazing place! - I think that The Center Hill Lake Retreat is a perfect place to stay. Me and my family went for a walk around the property and it was so pretty! We rented a room in the hotel and it was so amazing. This was my sixth time there and it keeps getting better. The view of the lake is so pretty that you wanna look at it all day. We bring our boat all the time and it's super easy to launch and pull out! This place always has a clean lake and clean hotel rooms. This place is amazing when you wanna hang out with friends. When we were there everything fell into it's place! So this gets my 5 star review!
Volsallday (4/5): Dirty and needs works - We stayed in the Laurel cabin and it was as dirty and surrounded by mud. The boat ramp is caving in on one side and I would never launch a nice boat from this ramp again. The docks are average at best. We will not be staying again.
Predsnut (10/5): Great weekend trip - Our room appeared to have just been completely remodeled. Very nice and clean. Staff was extra friendly. Great Views and location. This would be a great stay for couples or family. I also noticed that they have meeting space. May look into that later.

The kids enjoyed the pool and playground. We wish you could rent paddle boats or kayaks since there is access to the water. We will stay again for sure!

randygunns (8/5): Beautiful view, mediocre cabins - The lake view is breathtakingly gorgeous, while the cabins are mediocre. Still doable; just old and outdated. Service is overly friendly and they'll take great care of you. If you can get into the lodge, the conditions are much nicer, like a hotel room. The cabins allow more spreading out, though, which is what my family of 4 + dog needed, so all in all, it was a win. But man, they need to do some serious updating =)

83veral (10/5): Amazing Staycation!! - The Retreat at Center Hill Lake was the perfect vacation for our family of three & 2 toy poodles!! Our Daisy cabin though rustic was very clean, mattresses comfortable, & amazing view of the lake! The staff was very helpful & welcoming! We rented a pontoon boat for the day from JBeez which was parked in a boat slip at the Retreat. So Fun!! We will be back!

There was not much of a breakfast and I am sure that is due to COVID. And the docks could use some renovation along with the boat ramp.
