Guest Reviews
- Heather (9/5): Great place to stay. I hope to stay there again soon. - Close to everything - town, campus. Location can be an issue for some. On busy weekends, it can be loud because it’s close to downtown.
- soner (10/5): -
- Lynn A (5/5): - I will return. I feel I hit a bad time. My breakfast was cold...VERY unusual and the top of my bed needed to be dusted...again VERY out of character. I adore this B&B. It does not deserve a bad review. The cold breakfast, the dusty bed.
- Alfred (8/5): Good location and pleasant environment - General environment. Access to coffee and breakfast. Friendly staff. Sitting on balcony. High price. Some maintenance issues in room 60. Missing screw on fridge cover door handle. Small leak in bathroom faucet.
- Jennifer (8/5): Good. - It is quiet. The other guests are pleasant. And breakfasts are consistently good. The outside lights on the accommodations across the street from the main lodge were too bright.
- Michael (10/5): Gave us time to spend with our graduate . Can’t wait to come back. - The staff made you feel welcome. The rooms were comfortable and spacious. Being so close to campus and downtown gave us the ability to leave the car on The Inn’s property, and walk around. Even when walking late at night, you felt safe. The free breakfast was a plus and the kitchen staff were exceptional.

- Jessica (10/5): - Very quaint with lots of history. Exceptionally clean and amazing staff!!
- Dana (10/5): -
- Olga (10/5): - Great location, clean and spacious rooms, nice breakfast and helpful staff.
- Sally (8/5): Worked for what we needed. - Property met expectations. Location was perfect. A few areas of wear that could be updated. A/C took a long time to kick on and figure out.
- Michelle (6/5): Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Room was clean and comfortable. - Room was nice Very expensive
- Christina (9/5): We love staying at the Grant Street Inn! This has been our home base in Bloomington for years! - The staff was amazing! They were all very friendly and accommodating! The gal serving breakfast was extremely personable and helpful! We also loved the location allowing us to walk to many restaurants and bars! Everything was wonderful, however, some of the furniture and walls were chipped/scuffed and could use a refresh.
- David (10/5): -
- Sapna (8/5): -
- Jill (10/5): Delightful. Had a good time. Staff made the experience. Everyone pleasant and helpful. - Very comfortable! And, oh so clean!! A bit on the high side re: cost.

- Christine (8/5): Very good stay and relaxing. I would come back for another stay. - The breakfast was very good, although the young man serving on the Saturday I stayed gave me about a half a serving spoon of hashbrown casserole and about a 3x3 frittata. I know I could have gone back, but I didn't want to take food from other guests. It occurred to me that maybe there was only one large pan of each for all guests. I just thought the serving size would have been a little bigger. Food was great, though. The friendliness of the staff was the best part. I talked with servers both Saturday and Sunday and had a good conversation with the desk staff. I appreciated their kindness. The front door to my building stuck so badly that at times, the door didn't shut properly. I came back more than once to find that all I had to do to get the door open was push it open. Someone at the front desk checked upon my request to see that it locked, which was reassuring. It seems that's something that could be fixed.
- Raymund (10/5): Coming back soon - Nice rooms, staff was Phenomenal especially Mary! N/A
- Lynn A (10/5): - The Grant Street Inn was easy to find, centrally located and had ample parking. The staff was friendly, helpful and professional. My room was charming and so very clean. It even had enough outlets!
- Gísli (10/5): Very pleasant stay and friendly/helpful staff - Spacious and clean rooms, well furnished and welcoming. Location excellent for joining campus activities. Breakfast exactly right for me Nothing
- Debra (9/5): Always my first choice when in Bloomington - The location to campus is so convenient, it is very quaint. This room has nice deck to sit outside This time my room was next to check in desk so a little noisy, I do travel with white noise machine so eliminated us hearing lobby noise
- Murphy (10/5): -
- Reed (10/5): It was my 10th visit every time has been exceptional. I’m ready for my 11th stay . - Walking distance to some area restaurants
- Suzanne (9/5): Perfect for a short stay, very near campus & town, great price. - Super cute building & room. Nice to diverge from corporate hotel feel to a more bed-and-breakfast type experience. Staff was extremely friendly! Parking was really tight, and nearby construction made getting in & out a little challenging. Thermostat controls were not individual to each room (but reception did say to call down if adjustments were needed).
- GERALD (10/5): One of the best B&Bs we’ve stayed with. We will dreary here again if ever in Bloomington. - Great facility. Clean and good location. Can’t really think of anything
- Ryan (10/5): -
- Amanda (10/5): -
- Sierra (10/5): The most hospitable place I have ever stayed. Absolutely recommend this Inn to anyone and everyone. - I was getting up before breakfast I honestly just came to the Inn to sleep and when I came down in the morning the staff had made me a cold to-go box. There was yogurt, homemade granola, fruit, a bagel with two types of cream cheese and they made some pastries early for me. I had an excellent experience the bed was comfortable the room beautiful. 10/10 will absolutely come back again and again.
- Judy (9/5): -
- Alyssa (8/5): Great breakfast! Nice people. - Close to downtown. Clean. Nice staff. Really hard pillows. Lots of noise and light in the room at night.

- Barbara (10/5): Excellent! Will be back again soon! - Loved the breakfast! Loved the lotions and amenities It was expensive.

- Maura (8/5): -
- Shannon (10/5): -
- Bob (8/5): -
- Jessica (6/5): Great location and wonderful staff - Breakfast was good, staff was super friendly and great location. The pillows are like bolders, hard and super big. There was no mashing them. Had to use no pillow to sleep. Lack of privacy, our room was right by the entrance door and had a large gap around it could hear everything.
- Michael (7/5): -
- Steffanie (9/5): -
- Lyn (10/5): - Great location and very friendly staff. Breakfast was delicious!
- JUDE (10/5): -
- Cynthia (10/5): -

- Susan (10/5): The stay was wonderful! Queen for a night! - So clean and the room was beautiful. Loved, loved the plush towels and how they smelled! How do you do that?
Breakfast was delicious and Ruthie made for nice start to our day. All staff were very friendly. No elevator but that’s ok
- JOHN (10/5): If you have to go to Bloomington and want a central walkable location this is it - It’s my first time to this authentic Bed and Breakfast. Wonderful staff. I asked the favors several times and they said yes every time.
- Steffanie (10/5): The BEST staff, beautiful old homes, and excellent breakfast! - Wonderful staff, beautiful property, excellent breakfast, close to campus! It’s a little pricey.
- Laurie (10/5): Charming bed and breakfast - A big farmhouse with a porch which we found out was built in 1883! It has been renovated but still kept its charm…even the floors creak! Our room was roomy and had a beautiful chandelier. The bathroom had a very large shower with good water pressure and towels were large and fluffy. King size bed was pretty comfortable. Original door knobs on bathroom door and closet! Generous breakfast and real tea. Loved having warm pecan pie. The heater fan rattled noisily. First night, I turned heat off completely. The bed offers a heavy comforter but no other blanket to use if you prefer. Also, the TV service was Roku which we were not used to using. The second day it did not work or at least was without sound. One of the attendants came in and got it to work. Minor things and didn’t affect our excellent experience.

- 86davida (10/5): Gem of a place in the lovely small town of Bloomington - We were passing through Indiana on a road trip and came across the Grant Inn while looking for a one night stopover. Mary was a wonderful hostess and this little gem of a place was the best sleep of the holiday…quite an achievement since we also had a few nights at The Bellagio in Vegas.
Fabulous place with an amazing history. Close to town and its many restaurants and shops. Great comfy beds and good hot shower. And breakfast well that was something else…Mary and Ruthy together were the best hospitality you can get.
- William (9/5): I think I did that above!! Would love to come back!! - Its total charm its architecture, and the amenities and a very comfortable bed. Also a shout out to the lovely lady who served or breakfast everyday! Everything was great. Beautiful landscaping
- Jay (10/5): -
- Thomas (10/5): -
- Towle (10/5): - Breakfast was so good and well presented! Chef's pastries and pumpkin cake were lovely. The young man who managed the breakfast was very welcoming and did a great job. Breakfast service was excellent so all good!
- Bridgett (10/5): Perfect spot to stay for a visit to IU - Adorable. Excellent location. Friendly staff We loved everything.
- Ed (10/5): Great place - Friendly welcoming staff, old style charm, near Kirkwood but far enough off it, easy free parking
- Jason (10/5): -
- Warren (5/5): Pleasant but very disappointing breakfast and TV service. - 1. The staff was very courteous.
2. The decor and furnishings in the rooms and throughout the inn was extremely pleasant and comfortable.
2. Dedicated parking area. 1. TV did not work in the first room that I was assigned nor the second room that was given.
2. Breakfast was extremely disappointing. The oatmeal was very runny and had way too much added water, which severely diluted the flavor.
- 693naomid (10/5): Nice find in a bustling college town - What a great inn! Wonderful staff, beautiful rooms. We were in Room 22, right off the reception/checkin area and has no issues with noise. Nice blackout blinds on the windows. Very comfy king bed and a gorgeous fireplace and spacious room.
- Cheryl (9/5): Quaint bed and breakfast within walking distance to campus. Exceptional friendly staff. - Comfortable, quaint; excellent friendly staff. Loud construction noise across the street that could not have been avoided. (Would have preferred greater variety for breakfast over two days—scrambled eggs both days. )
- Laura (6/5): - I’ve stayed here before and have always appreciated the friendly staff and comfortable atmosphere, which makes this visit a bit disappointing. The room felt dark and a bit worn, with missing bathroom tiles, ant traps on the floor, and an awkward layout with the shower and toilet far from the sink. There was also no fridge or coffee maker. I probably could have asked for another room, but it was late and I was tired. Hopefully management checks on these issues, as this stay didn’t reflect the usual “Exceptional” standard I’ve experienced in the past.
- Steven (10/5): - Room was clean and bed was comfortable. Staff were excellent. Left too early for breakfast but look like it was excellent. Parking was tight and we were lucky to get a spot. Love the amenities. Great shampoo and conditioner!
Room was pretty pricey though…..
- Terry (10/5): - Cc
- Julie (10/5): - Wonderful place to stay in Bloomington. The staff was very helpful and the breakfast was amazing. Easy parking. I would definitely stay there again and would recommend!
- Andrew (10/5): - Very friendly, clean, easy everything. Refreshments available upon check in. Cookies and treats for the kids.... Loved it!
- Sarah (10/5): - Great property with friendly staff.
- jolanta (10/5): - Keep coming back to this inn. Can’t beat the location and the charm of this inn!
- Gregory (10/5): - Good Breakfast
- Tracey (10/5): - We absolutely loved everything about our stay. The facilities were immaculate. We were greeted with delicious gourmet cookies and little candies. The room itself was extremely comfortable and spacious with a cozy bed. The breakfast the next morning was delicious. We will definitely be back if we come back to the area.
- Damita (10/5): - Need new comforter, one wash cloth not clean. Otherwise great place and affordable
- Vito (8/5): - Great stay!!
- Kristine (10/5): - The entire staff was amazingly sweet and helpful. The front desk was always checking in when we walked by and offering cold water. The breakfast was delicious and we were offered items to take with us. You can tell they are all about those staying there and it shows. The location was perfect and the off street (free) parking was amazing. We were able to walk everywhere and not worry about our car. We would definitely stay there again.
- Jennifer (10/5): - This is such a cute, hidden gem. The staff are all so friendly and the little extras like the coffee, tea and homemade chocolate chip cookies were an added bonus. Parking was convenient and there were lots of dining options within a walkable distance. I will definitely be returning!
- Michael (10/5): - The room i had was fabulous with a great writing desk, fire place, and a nice bathroom

- Margaret (8/5): - Sweet bed and breakfast! Alway good to stay there
- Amber (8/5): Relaxing getaway with plenty to do in walking distance. - The Grant Street Inn was the perfect getaway. Close walking distance to all the action and event of the holiday weekend.
The Inn had a wonderful breakfast each day.
Is very comfortable to comeback to after a busy afternoon. It was nice to relax in the room or on the front porch rocking chairs. Plenty of people watching from your personal porch. The main house is a bit more noisy. It's great to have a separate porch area, road noisy can be a bit much in the collage town. The Inn has other buildings that are not on the busy corner of Grant and 7th.
- John (10/5): - I've stayed several times and will again. Nice place. Great location. Good people.
- Alison (10/5): My new favorite in Bloomington!! Will stay here every time - Quaint and staff is super kind and welcoming. My room was super cozy!! Love this place!! Free easy access parking is a plus too! Nothing It is a great place to stay!!
