Guest Reviews
- Law (4/5): - Pros: Beautiful greenery scene; Room is big.
Cons: Water pressure too low.. hard to shower; Worst soundproofing ever.. I can hear the conversation from next room, and also the footstep outside my room, too much noise; No bedside table.
- Danielle (10/5): Cheap stay near Kinabalu national park - Very good location, short walk along the road to the national park. Big spacious clean room, with daily cleaning, beautiful location with lovely views. Only issue was things in the room got slightly damp in the morning but really worth it for the cheap price!
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The room facilities very poor such water heater not function. No basic tv channel. No shelter while walking from front desk
- Qian (6/5): Cleanliness issue - Pros: staffs are very friendly, hotel looks great from the outside
Cons: room is not clean ( there are stains on blankets, bedsheets, kettle, wall, toilet), toilet is full of bugs at night, weird smell on blanket and towels
Overall experience is not good
- Nur (6/5): Pillow got bad stain - The place was awesome but the service not that good. We got pillow with stain and the receptionist did not do anything even we have informed them.
- sarahassan (10/5): Nice hotel can see the view in the morning. 😊 - Everything just perfect.. will come again.. inshaa Allah.
- kitty10 (2/5): terrible - since i'm coming from kota kinabalu first, i called and asked the hotel staff where should i get off, when i get to Kundasang. they told me to get off at kinabalu park entrance which is you have to walk back for 25 minutes (they didn't tell me first). the rain is so heavy, i tried to call them again because i cant find a taxi. but they just put me on voice call.. when i get to the hotel, i told them about the incident and they just laugh it off. i told them, that its not funny, and well they just shrug off.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Overall room just nice
Room more privacy but many cat waiting in front of door..when the door is open all cat run into the room. The view not very nice and the pillow is not comfortable. Suggest to provide more pillow in the room.. easier to parking.. this part im very satisfied..
- Anne (8/5): Close to Mt Kinabalu - Very reasonably priced room. Be prepared for 140 steps down to your room and obviously the same back up with your luggage.
Approx 1km walk to Mt Kinabalu entrance.
No restaurant on site but good cheap eats across the road from the park entrance.
Hot water is not all that good in the shower and the local cats were a bit annoying.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - nice and cozy room. very cold at night. good location just along the road to kundasang. strategic location
- Kelly (10/5): Comfortable resort with good view - Stayed there for 3 nights and enjoyed the cold air and walk to KK park.
- Elbert (8/5): 50% 50% Give and Take - The pillow are dirty and not cover with pillow case, and at the end we ask for changes for all pillows. X10 pillows and pillow case... Cannot see mount Kinabalu. No view...
- Verified traveler (8/5): overall ok because near with dairy farm - its awesome...recommended
near with town, attraction place and other....
suitable for honeymoon and family trip
Rate for 1 night is cheap
- eida (10/5): - Nice im so happy..this place fill me like a honeymoon..
- Mimie (6/5): Hotel near to main road - The check-in was fast and the receptionists were friendly. Two standard rooms were close to the main entrance/reception area. Deluxe room situated downstairs and took near 3 mins to climb up. The rooms downstairs are not suitable for elderly. Water heater did not function well. The rest were on average.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice hotel with garden view - Room 8..
nice n clean room..wide open window.
bathroom(shower leaking..need to fix)
Very nice view..especially in the morning.
Not so privacy..u can hear the voice n sound of water heater(shower) from the next door.
Overall 3.5*
- AISYAH (6/5): LOTS OF STAIRS - TOTALLY NOT RECOMMENDED FOR THOSE WHO ARE TRAVELING WITH ELDERLY OR SENIOR CITIZENS AND OKU PERSON. NEED TO GO THROUGH STAIRS TO GO TO THE ROOM. SO MANY BUGS AND INSECTS AT NIGHT ESPECIALLY IN THE BATHROOM.
- Ming (6/5): Not for senior citizen and family with kids - The room condition and cleanliness is up to standard but if you plan to stay with little kids and senior citizen, please stay away from this hotel, there is a long staircase to walk. If you don't mind for this little exercising and no breakfast provided, this could be one of the good choice though.
- Intan (8/5): All you need in Kundasang. - The rooms are comfortable, quiet and very pleasing. Even though you did not get the best view from MT. Kinabalu but the forest at back also quiet pleasing. very quiet at night.
- Sabrina (8/5): - the room is comfortable enough but the water heater doesn't work well
- SEARON (8/5): - Need more improvement on insect control. Like netting. Mosquito prove
- wilson S.T (8/5): Value for money. - Was a 1 night stay.x comfortable sleep. But mosquito net is by essential because there are plenty of moths stick on the wall n ceiling.water heater can't provide hot water unless u bring down the water pressure. Don't expect mountain view from here.
- Dewy & Maple (8/5): Nice laid back place with privacy. - My family and I liked the location of this hotel where it is just a short drive to the Kundasang tourist attraction such as the Desa Cattle Farm Mesilou.
- srimurgan (10/5): relaxing solo getaway - had a relaxing and a peaceful getaway. the room doesn't have an air condition unit or fan.anyway, don't need them either cos it was really cold at night, chilling at day time. quiet, peaceful and relaxing environment. quick check in. less than 10 mins drive to kundasang town. less than 5 mins drive to kinabalu national park. no problems for parking. Never forget to experience the view from Honun Farm, Kg. Bundu Tuhan. Fantastic mountain view.
- Jason (8/5): Extremely close to Kinabulu NP - Really need to fix the hot water in the shower. Splurted out sporadically and turned off constantly (also could do with other basics like soap dishes etc). Otherwise a great stay.
- Adrian (2/5): Damp accomodation - This was the worse accommodation I have ever stayed in for one reason DAMP, the bed clothes were damp and within an hour the spares clothes in our bags were damp. It was miserable and we only stayed for one night instead of two nights booked. I fully appreciate for the money you cannot expect a 4 star hotel and there are few other options in the area. Without the damp it would have been bearable. I accept there was no A/C but because of the damp it was also cold and the owners charge you extra for a blanket which we finally asked for around 9pm but they were closed. If we had a blanket that too would have been damp within 30 mins. Hotels.com should remove the Ayana from it's website. This is the first time I have ever written a review.
- Widy (8/5): Breathtaking scenery - I stay at deluxe room with balcony which is give me a really peace of mind with jungle view. Area is cold, u can get free aircond. The scenery is just breathtaking. Weekdays offers quietness with cheaper rate.
- SHADY (8/5): Nice and relaxing stay - I booked the superior room which has a view on a green area , it was a very relaxing stay specially after you come back from kk mountain, it is walking distance from kk park, about 1.2 km but you will not feel it is long because of the colourful flowers in your way.
Room is clean. superior and deluxe room have a balcony.
Bathroom is okay and there is hot water (very important).
Everything was good but the only thing which I have already read in reviews and I have seen there is the insects, they need to install something for that rather than that it was a nice stay.
- Faizal Haredz (6/5): Relax n enjoy ! - Good n cold but no phone to receptionist.too many dog outside the room. The rest i'll gv 4 star!
- Anrio (10/5): Love nature around - Amazing..if u love nature it's the best stay...sleeping with butterfly..will definitely come again..
- Lee chu (6/5): - It would be better if they could install mosquito netting cos in the evening a lot of insects would be flying into the rooms and toilet thru the Windows.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Overall just okey - I stay at ayana for 2 days 1 night.
Nice resort but they should improve service.
No bedroom slippers, water heater not functioning well and water at toilet so slow..
Hard to find ayana when night comes.
- Nur Farihah (8/5): Nice stay in Ayana! - It's great!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Close to nature - Confortable place to stay. Very relaxing and calming.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good condition, newish mountain lodge. - The accommodation is a basic Hillside lodge with good views right off the main road.Maybe used as motel type accommodation for locals in transit from the main road.
There seemed to be a few different types of accommodation, the main block with reception was where my room was located. A large room with new fitting's and a large window with views. LCD TV with only two Sports channels and nothing else, wifi was workable, just! but did go off.
I found it quite cold after the city, my visit was wet and windy.
The downside for me was the noise, my room jutted out into a communal seating area where a family of locals set-up for the night and the wooden floor and paper thin walls amplified the scrapping of furniture and stomping of feet which made living in the bedroom quite miserable. Without transport it's about 1.5km walk alongside a very busy main road to somewhere to eat and drink at the mountain park entrance.
- Mohd Adha (8/5): Best stay in kundasang - Nice stay at ayana. Quite place with surrounded by preserve nature makes our stay peaceful. Best stay if u want to hiking mount kinabalu since it is one of the nearest resort nearby. Overall 3.5 out of 5.
- shamsiah (8/5): Eco friendly-value for money - spending 1 night here with my husband. facilities are good. very cold when night. fresh environment...
- Jackie (6/5): Like Camping in a Comfortable Bed - Nice break from the equatorial heat provided by the high altitude here. Surprisingly, there aren't a lot of indoor accommodations in the area considering Kinabalu is a World Heritage site. This hotel is one of the better ones near the park. There are many steep steps to the rooms, which might make it difficult for some. I suspect it also makes it difficult to get cleaning equipment and supplies down there because the rooms were not as clean as they could have been. The accommodations are simple steel framed 4 unit structures, which is something to keep in mind because the likelihood is very high that there will be several unruly kids jumping up and down on the floors and shaking the structure in at least one of the rooms, accompanied by frenzied screaming for hours on end. The parents don't seem to mind, as long as they get some "cute" Facebook photos.
- Wan Nor Hidayah (8/5): Comfortable bed and nice view - We stayed 2 nights in the hotel. Love the view and this hotel is quite close to the tourist attraction like kinabalu park, desa dairy farm and war memorial. Will definitely stayed in this hotel, next time.
- Ng (8/5): New hotel - A newly built hotel with clean room, nice scene and cheap room rate. It would be great if install a net on the windows to prevent insects enter the room. Anyway, thumb up for the management.
- Jennifer (8/5): Relaxing and peaceful near Mt Kinabalu Park - We stayed three nights in one of the standard rooms. The room was beautiful - big, clean, quiet comfortable. The building was in great shape, by far the best we've stayed in Malaysia. It's easy to get in and out by mass transport, but it is a good 20 minute walk along a rough highway to the stop. No food on site, but there are two very good restaurants about 20 minutes of walking away, just make sure you get everything you need before dark. The staff are very friendly and eager to please but can be difficult to find sometimes. Overall, Ayana Holiday Resort is a relaxing place to get away from it all.
- Hon Nyen (10/5): Relax trip - We had a wonderful and pleasant stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Fantastic views from a comfortable room. - We only planned to stay one night but extended our stay after seeing the place. It's a brand new place in an area that has very little options. There are a couple of places to eat just a short walk away and it is easy to find, just a short downhill walk from the park entrance.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Visit to Kinabalu - Hosts were very friendly and helpful. Rooms are quite spacious with a great view and have the essentials. There's a 1 km walk to food up the road so bring some snacks. Within walking distance of Mt Kinabalu Park.
