Guest Reviews
- Robert (6/5): - Out of season
- Mark (6/5): - A very tired property that needs investment. Aircon very old and did not work very well. Limited choice of food for a vegetarian.
Friendly and helpful staff. Drinks were great. Convenient for the whale shark tours.
- Nicole (8/5): - This was the perfect location for easy access to boat trips out to swim with the whale sharks. This was our sole reason for going to Donsol, and we weren't disappointed. It was a magical experience!
- Verified traveler (4/5): Stay away unless you're eating here - The hotel is incredibly dated and desperately needs a refresh. There were cupboards without doors, leaking taps and a missing smoke detector amongst other things. The worst part was the stained bedsheets which are unacceptable. I would not stay here again if I was paid. Surprisingly the food was good and fair price which is why it gained a star.
- Sheila (8/5): Definitely coming back! - The place was good in the area though we weren’t able to see the whale shark due to the weather.
It had a restaurant and pool in the vicinity. Staff were friendly and we were able to avail of the room massage.
One thing for improvement perhaps will be the availability of the wifi in the rooms :)
- Mark (10/5): - Annie in the office of this resort was very helpful and has a wealth of knowledge about the area and the Phillipines. I would definitely stay at this resort again. Breakfast omelettes were delicious!
- Brian (8/5): - Staff was friendly and helpful.
- Warren (10/5): - They have their own vegetable garden and you get to eat what is currently in season. A stones throw away from the start point for whale shark watching and also Whale shark adventures and tours, where you can do a number of various tours around the region. Would highly recommend.
- Ronald (10/5): - Staff and service was excellent.
Special thank you to Miss Annie for making our stay memorable.
- DAVID (8/5): - My girlfriend and I had a nine-night stay. Some confusion with check-in. The impression from the Expedia website is a choice of 1) (Standard) Garden View, 2) Pool View, and 3) Panoramic Sea View. We booked the Panoramic Sea View. When we were shown to our ground level room, we were surprised that we were unable to see the sea but instead had a very nice view of the garden. A check back with the front desk and were told we could pay more and upgrade to a Sea View. Then, it came out they were “fully booked”. We spent four nights in the ground floor room and then we were moved to the room above which had a TV and a better view. We accepted the move. I cannot review the Panoramic Sea View room as I believe we never saw it. The room we ended up in was very nice. Perhaps the Expedia website needs to be better clarified. Nice restaurant with good food, bar, swimming pool. TV, hot shower, and air conditioning were fine. Friendly staff. Nearby dive shop.
- Nathan (10/5): - The resort is ideally placed to visit and organise whale shark trips. The staff are friendly and nice. The restaurant serves nice affordable food and the pool has great views of the bay. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable with good air con although we turned off at night as sea breeze kept temperatures down. We managed to borrow a kettle from reception so were able to make hot drinks. Shower was hot water so a bonus. A tricycle ride into Donsol town was around p80.
- Zuila (2/5): - The toilets is not working always plugged, AC ,door , pool and the reception smell pee and poop of dog.
- Lynx Mangada (10/5): - We had great holiday and experience@
- Zuila (10/5): - Friendly and accommodating people.
- Ronald (6/5): - No refrigerator, no wifi, pool was good. TV was spotty.
- James (10/5): - Super friendly and knowledgeable staff; pool, facilities, and restaurant were excellent, direct beach access with incredible sunset views, and an easy walk to the dive tour centre. Couldn't adk for anything more!
- Richard (10/5): - Great food and very friendly and helpful staff !
- Joseph (10/5): - Great place!
- Annabelle (6/5): - Our stay at the Vitton Beach Resort, located near Mayon Volcano in Legaspi, Bicol, was a mixed bag of emotions. First off, the ambiance and location deserve a special mention. With a picturesque backdrop and tranquil beaches, it sets the tone for a perfect holiday. What left an indelible mark was the warmth and hospitality of the people here. When we checked in at an odd hour of 2am, Annie, was kind enough to not only let us in but also upgraded our room to be closer to the pool and the restaurant. This gesture truly touched our hearts.
After our first night, we were so smitten by the ambiance that we decided to extend our stay, also to be able to visit the famed underground river.
However, our experience took a turn during the checkout process. They informed us that they don't accept credit card payments, and surprisingly, we were not provided with an official receipt. Given that in the Philippines, anyone over 60 is entitled to a senior discount, we were unsure if they applied this benefit. When we inquired further about the receipt, the staff's ambiguous questions left us uneasy. My partner Bebot, being an advocate for senior citizens' well-being, addressed the ambiguity but it did put a damper on our overall experience.
To summarize, while the location, hospitality, and food at Vitton Beach Resort are praiseworthy, they need to work on their administrative transparency to gain complete trust from their guests. I truly wish them the best and hope that they address th
- Maria (2/5): - Not worth the money! Cheaply made and dirty ….
- Froilan (10/5): - Whaleshark viewing, unfortunately, there were none during our visit
- Stewart (8/5): - Great convenient place to stay but still waking up from Covid situation. No tv, no bar with limited drink selection, menu is limited. However, nice rooms, great staff, nice layout. Great sunsets by a nice pool and beach. I would recommend this place.
- Ronald (4/5): Never Again. - This was the most disappointing of all the hotels I have stayed at during the last 10 years of frequent visits to the Philippines. Almost all hotels have friendly staff, as does the Vitton. But the facility, overall, was way beyond showing its age, masonary was collapsing, windows were boarded up.The room was clean and in decent condition, but the bed was very uncomfortable. Last, it is a one hour drive on a road that was in moderate disrepair and nauseatingly curvy. Its restaurant was its highpoint.
- Charito (8/5): - Convenient location to the dive center. Friendly staff, accomodating. Safety deposit box did not work.
- Edwin (8/5): - Its a very nice place for romantic holiday . Its situated at the end of the Alona Beach , far from the busy beach front area. You can relax and enjoy the place , peaceful, serene and the staff are very kind, lovely and very accommodating xx
- Jaime (8/5): - The resort is showing its age but overall it’s a nice resort. The beach is quite disappointing it needs some serious clean up.
- Darren (10/5): - If you're looking for just a nice relaxing stay by the beach great place. The reception was warm and inviting very helpful wonderful pool area food was great. Visitor center close by and scuba diving center. The best shower I've had so far hot and good pressure.not fancy but wasn't looking for fancy 4.5 Star for the stay
- Darrell (8/5): Nice stay - Beach water ok at high tide. Last day lots of small jellyfish in the water. No WI-FI which is something I always look for as a foreigner. Very friendly staff and other guests as well. On site pool water was warm.
- Matthew (8/5): - Check in was great. We had two rooms - one was fine, the other had a persistent odor of cleaner fluids. Pool was a disappointment - looked beautiful in pictures, but in-person it badly needed cleaning - there were suspicious bubbles floating on a film of scum - very uninviting. Breakfast was good and very generous. Biggest highlight was the boat trip right from the beach in front of the hotel to see whale sharks - wonderful!
- Jasmine (8/5): - There was a time where there was not water supply in the room which was such a hassle since I was taking a bath during that time. 😞
- Timothy (8/5): - Great value for the money. The room we stayed in was in the older section and the plumbing could use some work. But it was clean and comfortable. They have been apparently doing some additions/renovations, so stay in the newer side if you can. Very convenient if you plan to swim with the whale sharks. (Why else does one visit Donsol?) It is a very short hike across the property to get to the center and do the orientation etc.
- Ricardo (10/5): - Rooms were very large. Beds were comfortable. Staff was very friendly. Food was good. I would recommend you bring suntan lotion and snacks since they don't sell any.
- Donna (10/5): - We had a good relaxing stay at your hotel. Friendly and accommodating staff.
- Juanito B (10/5): - Amazing
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The room was very spacious but was starting to age
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was good experience staying in the resort. The staff were all very efficient and accommodating. They even extended our check out for a few more hours so that we can enjoy our boat trip schedule. The rooms were spacious and clean only it has this unpleasant smell probably it just need to be opened constantly when there are no guest so that fresh can come in. : )
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice pool and bar area. Beds low quality,Good for large groups short stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The food is excellent, resort is lush, beautiful and clean, very very good for the price point. And the people are Very very accommodating, personable and happy. Will definitely go back
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Property is right on the beach & serves Western food that is satisfying both taste & price. Rooms are 2 & a half star but clean, shower & toilet was usable but dated. Nothing to do at nights but sit around the bar.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - the room is spacious...
- Jeri (8/5): - It was nice. The rooms were basic, but nice. We were too busy to use any of the facilities
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We had a lovely stay at Vitton Beach. While the rooms are quite basic the facilities are excellent with a beautiful pool, spa and good range of meals available. We found the resort to be excellent value for money overall. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The resort is located right next to the whale shark interaction centre so organising your whale shark experience is so easy from here.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good location, rooms are a bit run down and need some work, the restaurant has great food
- Barbara (10/5): Great hotel for Whale Shark experience - We booked this hotel because it is next to the boats for the whale shark tours. It looks like it is one of the better hotels in the area. We loved sitting by the pool overlooking the ocean. Also since we did not see a whale shark our first day, they let us keep our room until we returned from an early cruise to see them. We did!
- James (8/5): good place, bad wifi. - was a nice and friendly place to stay. wifi didnt work the 4 days of my trip so if you need to be online maybe this isnt ideal. all staff where great and very helpful.
- jill (8/5): - nice place, really good food, friendly staff, comfy beds ,good pool, rooms a bit scruffy,
- James (8/5): - This hotel/resort is right next door to the whale shark center, which is very convenient.
The property’s oceanfront location is very pleasing.
The restaurant has good food, although they do take a little long to prepare your order.
The room is outdated, but very much within expectations given the pricing.
- Peter (8/5): If you are coming to whale watch its OK. - The restaurant is OK. Adequate. The bed was REALLY uncomfortably hard foam, it hurt and I had a neck ache the whole time due uncomfortable sleeping position. Sheets on both beds were filthy with stains until I complained 2nd day, they apologised and blamed mildew, which is of course nonsense, it's simply bad laundry, probably poor or no detergent. The "deluxe two-queen" bed room's walls needed repainting 5 years ago, just cheapness because it would entail a 4-hour paint job, mildewy and badly spotted, made the room ugly and uncomfortable. TV was adequate but with limited channels, no English news like CNN or BBC. No drinking glasses or water in the room. Faucet in the room is a tall bar type that shoots water into the floor unless it is adjusted so it barely dribbles. Over-all its OK because the grounds and pool are nice enough. Beach is right there. Diving shops very close by. The cost of meals was far too high and the total bill was out of proportion to the quality.
- Paul (8/5): Jolly good ! - The location is excellent if you want to enjoy a quite stay at the beach. The staff have excellent customer care skills. The accommodation could benefit from a renovation. But overall I would recommend it, especially for families.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - No internet in the room very hot aircondition
Is not functioning well ... they had cat inside the kitchen area
- Cresilda (6/5): Place is good but food was unsatisfactory. - The beach resort is clean and very relaxing but the faucet in our room is not functioning well that made me quite stressed out. Restaurant is quite dark so it was hard to appreciate your food and weak WIFI access . They did not have room service at the resto but I can say staff are nice and friendly.
- Patricia (8/5): Whale Sharks - Beautiful gardens, very close to Donsol whale shark experience
- Eufrisena (8/5): - The place was beautiful outside food was good our room was ok. There’s a urin smells in our bathroom. Otherwise my stay was marvelous.
- Almira (8/5): Whale shark adventure at Donsol - The place was just a walking distance to the office of our target activity...whale shark encounter! It was very convenient.
Staff are really friendly and polite :-)
We had a little problem at the balcony area though, a really big lizard locally called "tuko" and another really big spider (though both are harmless according to staff).
Overall, our stay was enjoyable!
- Patricia (8/5): Great for whale shark interaction - Beautiful location right by the beach and close to,the whale interaction center. Lovely gardens and pool. Two restaurants with adequate food so no need to go out of hotel. Good happy hour offers on drinks. Wifi only in public areas and quite poor. Booked a deluxe room, furnishings are rather basic although comfortable enough and with a nice balcony. Only problem was that I slipped on wet tiles on a path to the pool. The lady from the spa was wonderful in helping clean me up and organizing a tricycle to the hospital for stitches. However there was no follow up from management as to what had happened or how I was.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Serenity - Setting amongst well maintained tropical gardens. Very helpful staff always at hand. Restaurant, bar, spa (with pedicure and massages) and pool area all well maintained and frequented by many customers.
- Alice (10/5): Little Spot In Paradise - Due to cancelled flights, we only ended up spending one night in Vitton. We arrived many hours before check-in and had no trouble checking in early. Our room was simple, but all we needed. The aircon worked well, the beds were comfortable, and even though the bathroom was due for a makeover, it was clean and everything worked.
We had a lovely little porch which looked out onto beautiful lush gardens.
Vitton is right on the water, and has a lovely pool, restaurant and spa. The food at the restaurant was nothing to write home about, but was more than fine.
We could walk straight from Vitton to the Whale shark info centre. Perfect location to head out on the water.
We were told that the boats in the bay hadn't seen any whale sharks for days and that our best bet was to go out deeper with the diving tours. We took that advice and went out and spent a full day on the water. We saw three whale sharks from a distance, but despite the best efforts of our skipper and guides, we didn't get to see them when we got in the water. Such is life. It's a good excuse to come back another time.
- david (10/5): LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION - Rooms are tired but ARE CLEAN. Restaurant food - breakfast lunch and dinner is awesome. Plentiful and excellent value.
Reception staff are very helpful..
Highly recommend
- Verified traveler (8/5): Not a lot of choices around here. Its ok i guess. - Rooms a bit worn down. Ac is old and noisy. Floor is uneven. Safe shows sign of forced entry. Safe was destroyed. Nice pool. Good happy hour program. Cash only and atms are miles away.
- Ngung Chia (10/5): Practical Resort - Near beach. Have swimming pool. Spacious room. Good view. Near town for street food - flag down a tricycle Php 20 (Jan 2018); Php 40 if take one in the queue outside resorts. Good selection of cable channels. Safe provided in room. Good balcony. Near dive shops and whale shark centre.
Weakness include:
(1) Blanket is a thin bed sheet
(2) Drinking water top up in restaurant only - no water cooler or kettle
(3) WiFi in restaurant area only - if room near restaurant, some weak signal available in room
- Verified traveler (8/5): - All the staffs are very friendly and will come back to stay at this place again.
- Mike (8/5): - The grounds of the hotel are beautiful!!! The rooms are average, but clean. The room didn’t match the spec of the grounds tho.
There want a ton to do in the off season when we visited, and I found the activities to be more expensive than other places in the Philippines.
If you are planning on diving, this resort is a nice place to stay
- Eb (10/5): very romantic great staff - Great location, kind and friendly staff, clean everywhere, beautiful pool and beach area. Priced very fairly for wonderful vacation get away. Excellent diving nearby
- Verified traveler (6/5): Nice resort it's not a hotel - Beautiful view and location, negatives is that they classify as a hotel but there is no services. No daily cleaning. The towels are hand clean and dried, so the towels are very rough and not all of the soap is out of the towels. Bed is a sheet so if, you use a/c you freeze so bring and a sheet or blanket. And bring towels. If you like dogs have plenty of them running around. Count at lease 12 running around on the property. False advertising of wifi. They have signal no service. Same problem two years ago. So it's not a one time thing.
But over all I will return
- jepp (8/5): quiet - Nice and quiet
Great to go whale shark watching...next door to the station where you catch the boats
Food nice but slightly expensive
- Nik (10/5): Top-spot for Whalesharkdiving near Donsol - staff is very friendly and helpful, very nice setup with restaurant, bar & pool directly at the beach. beach itself isn't really for hang around, you'll stay at the pool. restaurant is good, food is worth the (low) price. rooms are nice with nice balconies. only the AC is really noisey (at least in my room) so u can't really use it at night. lot of philippine families, but also young backpackers, divers, couples etc. good mix I would say! and the most important thing: just next to the whaleshark center where the tours start! Go for Vitton or Woodlands!
- Verified traveler (6/5): A place generally okay. - Booked a room for a day only with no intention for overnight stay for our group (family and friends). This is just to secure our belongings as we will be out most of the time. We were advised that extra pax beyond the room capacity will need to pay entrance and rent a cottage. This should be fine and was agreed through SMS before our check-in date. However when we arrived, we were informed at check-in that the extra pax will need to go to their other resort (around 3-5 minute walk) as they cannot accommodate the extra pax even for the day trip. Not really a good arrangement for our group with children in tow. Restaurant food is good enough but prices maybe steep for some. Also, they don't allow food to be delivered for room service. Hotel vicinity is near another hotel who will gladly accommodate walk-in diners. Vitton is also walking distance to the Tourism Office, the central point in charge of whale shark and firefly watching activities. In all, the place is generally okay.
- john (6/5): Great location, right next to whaleshark centre. - Amazing experience with huge whale sharks, saw average of 5 whale sharks per day trip. Government run centre is very good, only 6 people per boat. However, some days many boats.
Even non swimmers will see whale sharks up real close. Boat crews are very experienced and ensure all see the whale sharks. Cost is minimal.
- John (8/5): Vitton Beach Resort - Good basic accommodation - ideal for whale watching trips - a fan in the restaurant would add value
- HT (8/5): Quiet hotel on the beach - Cosy, quiet, deluxe rooms are large enough for family stay. Good kitchen/price range as well as the SPA. The WiFi is advertised but in fact it's practically null. Payments in cash or PayPal only, no card option. Tourist center is 100 m walk distance offering whale shark watching, island hopping, inland tours and diving. All great activities.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great resort and very close to whale shark tourist centre. Staff very friendly and helpful.
- Hubertus (8/5): Good resort with great restaurant. - Great place, excellent food, quiet place, good value.
- LINDA (6/5): OK hotel for the price - Average hotel very little to do in the evenings.
Meals very average.
Gardens and surrounding were very good.
- Lorraine (10/5): Comfortable friendly and honest - The office manager Annie was amazing. We left a bag behind with $250 cash USD and didn't notice until the next day? When I called they looked and found the bag and within an hour the money was in my PayPal account and the bag was being sent to me! That kind of honesty is amazing. It was a beautiful resort I hope to bring my family to in the future
- James (8/5): Peaceful hotel near the beach - Was offered an upgrade on arrival, upgrade had a great balcony & bathroom. No wifi in rooms & poor wifi at the restaurant.
Food was good,staff v friendly.
- James (8/5): Quiet & relaxing - When we arrived we were offered an upgrade from standard to double duluxe, which we took, there is much more space in the deluxe & the bathroom was nicer. The pool was nice & we had a lovely massage, which is ideally located.
There is no wifi available in the rooms, which was a downside. The restaurant was nice, good food, service depended on which member of staff was on as to how quick it was.
Overall, ideally located for the Eco tour & a nice stay
