Guest Reviews
- Terry (10/5): - What a Jem!! Don’t pass up on this relaxing stay
- Mary (10/5): - If you’re looking for a peaceful and quiet stay, I recommend this hotel with stunning cliff / ocean views. The luxury villa was so worth it. The staff is friendly & the place is clean. I felt so welcomed and truly loved our stay! It is farther away (30 mins) from the main town with restaurants & bars, but we didn’t mind at all.
- Oliver (10/5): Great Place - The staff are amazing, very friendly and professional’s.
Great place to unwind and relax
- Mariona (10/5): - We had a great time, if we ever comeback to Siquijor for sure we’ll stay here again, Salamaaat po!!
- Ma Gemma (10/5): - While I do not particularly like Kawayan's check-in procedures, everything else was pleasurable. The staff were polite, helpful and accommodating. The entire property was clean, secure, serene and offers a wonderful view of the ocean. I was glad we didn't have to request cleaning of our villa. Their housekeeping attendants do this every single day. Food tasted good, too. I love how they receive guests with a welcome drink, cold towel and a complimentary water tumbler. And because we need to check out early to catch the 820am ferry to Bohol, I highly appreciated that sandwiches were offered instead of the usual breakfast. I was even happier to receive these in insulated sandwich bags, yay! It was certainly worth coming back. Thank you, Kawayan Holiday Resort!
- Ephraim litonjua San Miguel (10/5): - I considered a resort that isn't easily accessible to enjoy less crowds and this was it . Please do research regarding location and ease of transportation when in this area . No public transportation in this island ie taxi , jeepney or bus .These should be helpful to know. The staff was excellent.
- Mel (10/5): - A one of a jind property and location. Great villas and overall layout. Very quiet and a little isolated but thats part of its charm. Great for couples.
- Mathias (10/5): We will be back! - Fantastic hotel that went above and beyond what we expected, from the service, the comfort and the beauty of the place! We will be back :)
- Rosario (10/5): - Enjoyed our stay. Peaceful. Relaxed. Excellent service. Food is delicious beautiful presentation. Thank you Kawayan Holiday Resort.
- Trek241726 (2/5): They violated my privacy! - This place is clean but not functional. The views are amazing but my feet hurt from the cobble stone floors. I have one of the villas. The bed rooms are in the very front with large windowed doors. If you like to peep at your neighbors, this is the place for you. I was walking the grounds and accidentally saw my neighbors changing. There is no privacy if you leave the curtains open, nor are there even sheer curtains to blur what you are viewing. All the floors are cobble stone so forget taking off your shoes and relaxing. You must wear shoes while inside the villa. Feel free to take them off when you go outside. The lawn is well manicured. The bathroom is aesthetically pleasing but have you ever tried to wash your face with an automatic water faucet? Try doing it with the cheapest auto faucet ever made. Not to worry, the beautiful open shower is within reach so you can finish the job. I love the concept of the bathroom being open to the outside, but don’t leave anything in the bathroom you don’t want bugs to get into. Again, this place is beautiful, but has zero functionality. I forfeit the already paid room and found another place. I was happier to leave than I was to stay one night. I did not ask for a refund nor do I deserve a refund. The resort did not meet my expectations, but they met the basics of hotel accommodations.
I left this review on google, then the owner left a response and violated my privacy by including my companion’s first and last name in the response.
The owner of the resort is giving out information about their guest and companions, while making assumptions about my involvement/ status of the nature of my relationship. My companion was not part of the reservation and Kawayan holiday resort has violated an inherent privacy of me as a guest. Shame on you! His response was retaliatory and unprofessional. With their misuse of my personal information, I did cancel my credit card. If I cannot trust this company with my personal information, then I certainly cannot trust them with my financial information.
- drewfernandes (4/5): Potential unrealized or mad tumble from the top - The reviews and recommendations of previous stayers made me want to stay
Hard to talk to people over the phone to book, so decided to visit in person
Also even harder to walk-in, which is weird because they're prioritizing and moneytizing an influencer famous attraction and they're rude at turning people away
Not walk in friendly and is made worse by run down everything from the first impression of the unwelcoming gate and gatekeeper, the dilapidated lobby and rooms, and empty places and spaces made even emptier by scowling staff
Will not go back here
- Rosario (10/5): - Spectacular view of sunset. Beautiful place. Love the resort, we booked another stay. Highly recommended.
- kimcF9038PN (10/5): Gorgeous views, kind staff with great views! - Perfect 2 night stay. The facilities were beautiful and clean.
We stayed in the larger suites with ocean views which didn’t disappoint! Amazing room!
Breakfast options were great and they even cut the watermelon into letters of our names.
Our dinner was sooo good along with our lunch the day we left. Loads of food options!
Sadly we didn't have time to use the pool but it was gorgeous.
The staff were some of the kindest people around and were super helpful in arranging a scooter or when having questions.
We enjoyed being out of the busier streets so the peace and quiet with sounds of the ocean… amazing.
Highly recommend staying here!
Thank you,
From Canada
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great place, qiuet and out of the way with some excellent dive sites.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Perfection - Awesome place, awesome staff. Just perfect
- kristiner_1972 (8/5): Our Siquijor Holiday - I learned about Kawayan Holiday Resort thru a friend who visited Siquijor in 2023. I originally wanted to stay at another resort but it was fully booked for the Valentine weekend.
The resort is around 30 minutes away from the Siquijor port, and a car or van ride is recommended. After entering the gate of the private property, you will not be impressed with the first few cottages because they look old and tiny. You will also be passing through a dirt road.
As you reach the far end of the resort however, you will be greeted by a breathtaking view of the sea, a nice garden, and bigger-sized cottages.
The service is good, and while buffet breakfast is not served, there are enough choices in the menu for appetizers, meat, fish, and pork dishes.
I would recommend this resort for couples who value privacy and quiet relaxation. As the place is perched on a high cliff, only guests above 16 are allowed to stay there. The internet is fast, and the resort can arrange land and ferry transfers upon request.
- Maria Lourdes Lorenzana (10/5): - I highly recommend this place if one is looking for a serene place to relax and unwind. The stairs leading to the beach is an allure of the property. The staff are friendly, attentive and helpful. We enjoyed ourselves without having to worry about rowdy crowds and loud patrons.
- greg (10/5): Beautiful small resort - Staff was 100% and treated us like family for our 5 day stay. Nice snorkeling and diving from the resort staircase. Meals were great and included complimentary breakfast.
Overall excellent stay
- J.A. (10/5): TOP - Luxe resort. Fantastisch personeel. Eten is voortreffelijk. Rustig
- E2101KIjohnw (10/5): Well there simply aren't enough superlatives to describe this place. - Well there simply aren't enough superlatives to describe this place, the views are stunning, the location is amazing and the place itself is just lovely and quiet and peaceful. There is a strong focus on sustainability with clever little nice touches around the place which do not go unnoticed, the staff are all super friendly, funny and extremely accommodating, this is no exaggeration when I say it's one of the best holidays we have ever had. The food menu is great and changes every night, the kitchen staff are amazing and everything is always really fresh, well cooked and presented. There is easy access to the sea and pool and there are lots of other local amenities on offer too like snorkeling, diving and island tours etc. You can hire scooters nearby if you like, we didn't but we were designated a few different tuc tuc drivers who were really helpful and recommended lots of lovely places to visit. The rooms themselves are lovely too, kept really clean with state of the art aircon which is really quiet at night, this makes a huge difference and we slept really well (too well) because of it. The bathrooms are semi open air which I've never experienced before, again lovely and just the general cleanliness of the place and high standards of all the serving staff just makes this a really top place to visit. We stayed for over two weeks but lots of people came and went too so I think it's really suitable for any length of time, would highly recommend either way though, absolutely loved everything about it :)
- Richard (10/5): - The food, every meal, was amazing!! The staff went out of their way to give us a level of service I have not seen in years. The owner was present, friendly, and made sure we were happy. The property is amazing and the sunsets nemorable. Will DEFINETLY stay here again!!!
- Steven (10/5): - Unbelievable views, great food and wonderful staff. Very relaxing property
- Amanda (10/5): Amazing view and sweet staff - We had an amazing stay. The staff was so helpful and sweet. The food was delicious, and the rooms were even better than in the pictures. The view was stunning, and the sunsets were incredibly beautiful. The only downside was that many tourists came to take pictures of the view from morning till evening. Our room was nearby, so people often took pictures in front of it and were quite loud, which forced us to keep the curtains closed, so we couldn’t fully enjoy the view from our room. The resort is a bit far from the center, but you can book a scooter through the hotel to get around the island. Overall, it was fantastic, and we will definitely come back.
- Tim (10/5): - Ein Wundervolles Resort mit einmaligem Ausblick.
Das Essen, der Service, rundum alles hervorragend.
Empfehlung in allen Punkten.
- Per (10/5): - Fantastisk personale, måske det bedste i Filippinerne. Høflige og opmærksomme ud over det sædvanlige.
- Rico (10/5): - Peaceful and quite environment. Staff is very friendly and provide good service.
- Mitchel (10/5): - One of the most hidden secrets in the Phillipines . From the view , to the food to the staff. 5 star hidden gem.
- Ernesto (10/5): - Amazing experience! I will never forget my stay here.
- MHlancs (10/5): Beautiful place to stay. - Wow what a fantastic resort. The first thing I noticed on arrival was the silence and tranquility. The staff were lovely and always smiling. The ocean villas were spectacular and there are only 4. The owner was lovely and spoke with us many times over a glass of wine or two. Great wine selection. We loved this place so much we booked another night. It’s a little out the way but that’s what this place has going for it, the food is fresh and cooked perfectly. We loved the turquoise clear water to snorkel on the house reef it really was a special place. Unsure why anyone would say any different unless they hadn’t actually stayed here. We will definitely be returning
- ErikHK28 (8/5): Wonderful staff is the gem of this place - First of all wonderful staff. Very nice, flexible and accommodating. An asset to the resort. We rented a the Luxe Villa. All cabins are very roomy and have "outdoor" bathroom which is a nice touch. Restaurant is great and don't hesitate to ask for specials if you want. There is no beach. But a long stairs down the cliff. Going up requires some decent physical condition. Swimming pool is nice. Not too big but adequate for the size of the place. Our cabin could use a mattress update. Feels worn.
The other advice I can give new guests is too fill in the pre-check-in form ahead of time. If not, you have to go through a rather tedious effort on your phone to check-in online. Some people may find this hard to do but staff insists it is "the way". Maybe the manager can review the process for older people not that privy with their mobiles if at all available.
- Maximino (10/5): - Great resort that sits on top of a cliff with beautiful rock formations below that are accessible by stairs. The ocean view from the resort and the cottages is incredible. I need to also commend the staff who are all polite, knowledgeable, pleasant and competent. The restaurant food is Western-quality. I highly recommend this resort.
- Gabriel Maria (10/5): - It was a pleasure to be at the KHR. The service staff was allways freandly and really customer-oriented. Every evening a diffetent menu board with 3 options. The meals were like to be in a 5 star hotel in europe. Alcoholic drinks allways available & inviting to drink one more.
- Matt (10/5): - If youd like a calm romantic experience with beautiful veiws and sunsets, look no further. The villas are lovely, staff are friendly and provide you a lovely experience, I Iooked at the negative reviews made by some walk in guests and cant imagine this to be true. The owner and staff take great pride in this piece of heaven, looks like faulty customer, not staff.
I would highly recommend.
- Arkadius71GBZ (10/5): Excellent dive-locations, excellent food and excellent stuff!! -
6 person / 3 rooms / 4 diver
perfect place to relax and calm down!!
We have spend 3 weeks, on 3 different islands, the last location was the KHR.
It started from the pick-up from the ferry.... the friendly stuff picked us up and serves us cold towels to refresh.... even cold drinks been served on the 30 minute trip to the resort.
After we entered the resort we felt very familiar with the stuff!
The rooms are really big and the bathroom is unter the stars ceiling!
The breakfast is fresh and individual. The dinner is changing everyday and you can choose between 3 different dishes (from starter, main course to dessert)
diving is a dream and it is the best house-reef we had ever been.
the flare is from hard to soft corals and the macro-life is amazing ( Joey knows exactly where to find the hidden animals... and NOT to touch it!!)
3 adults and 3 teens felt to relax mode and thinking to come back.....
- Per (10/5): Fantastic staff - Great value for money, the service was top notch. Housekeeping twice a day. The restaurant had a new menu for dinner every night. The house reef was really good, also for night dives.
- ørjan (10/5): - Was an amazing place, the staff was so kind.
The only thing i can say that is a little negative was that one night we were about to go to bed there were around 50 big flying ants
- Austin (10/5): - Really enjoyed Kawayan Holiday Resort the staff, food, and facilities are top notch, can't wait to visit again! Love the slightly remote location , intimate setting having few villa,s and wonderful snorkeling!
- DayTrip533877 (10/5): My favorite location in Philippines. - Wow! An amazing place and experience!
The location and scenery at this small and very cozy resort is difficult to explain beyond “AMAZING”. On a cliff, overlooking Apo island and amazing Sunsets! Lounge in the pool for some unearthly sunset views and star gazing.
They staff were OUTSTANDING! So friendly, helpful, very attentive, made us feel at home.
The food at the restaurant was so delicious and fun. HOMEMADE ICE CREAM! Best food we had in the island in our 18 days on Siquijor.
We booked at Kayawan for only 3 nights. We could not leave! Repeatedly extending to eventually 13 nights there.
The stair case down to the ocean, descending along the cliff, is so unique and beautiful. Easy to snorkel and it’s beautiful. Though I had injured my knee before arriving to Siquijor, I was still able to do some scuba diving (I want to do more!). Very nice dive site and the dive shop on the property is very nice and well equipped with new gear!
We stayed in an ocean view villa. WOW! So comfortable, classy and fun. The bathroom is “outside” through a back door of the unit. So fun, luxurious and unique. It is an amazing design feature which my words can not capture how nice it is. Just fun showering (very privately) outside!
Oh, and I would be remiss if I did not say they have the best scotch/whiskey selection I have seen in the Philippines. Especially outside of Manila. Wow! (Rumor is they have already replenished much of what I consumed 😱🤣🤣)
Siquiijor is now my favorite Island in the Philippines and Kawayan is my favorite resort!
(NOTE: they do not recommend this place for children, and as a father, I have to AGREE! You are on a cliff! There are rails, but these will not contain a young child!!! )
- alexhO5002IN (10/5): Fantastic Experience - My wife and I spent a few days of our honeymoon here and we wish that we had planned to stay longer. The environment, food, service, and amenities were outstanding. We got lucky and pretty much had the place to ourselves, which was awesome. Major points to the kitchen staff as we couldn't believe how great the meals were. Also, the exclusive snorkeling/diving available right out front is all-time. Siquijor is a great island with lots to see and experience. If we make it back, we will definitely be staying here again. My only recommendation is that they provide better Signage from the main streets because it was difficult to find, especially at night, but downloading google maps ahead of time will be your best bet if you're driving yourself to the resort.
- Marie catherine (10/5): Magnifique endroit - Exceptionnel
- LOUIE (2/5): - The property is overrated . The management is non existent at all. Very bad customer service
- chunfengl2017 (10/5): Good place to stay - We stayed 6 nights there. We enjoyed stay there from beautiful scenery, swimming, messages, nice staff, helpful management, and services they provided. Can be considered as good place to stay in ph.
- Ed (8/5): - This is a wonderful place with the staff doing a very "high touch" job with us. The room was very nice, the setting was beautiful, the food was exceptional. We especially liked the outdoor bathroom, very private yet very open! 3 small nits, 1. The Internet was intermittent, however, every time I have been to Siquijor, this has been the case. 2. The advertisement indicated there was beach access and this was not true, there were stairs to the beach but they were blocked off. 3. I have become very used to the bidet (butt hose) while here in the Philippines and this property does not have them. However, the positives absolutely outweigh these nits and I would heartily recommend this place to anyone. BTW, I saw the first firefly in my life here on our last night. This wonderful resort is not inexpensive but it is worth every peso! P.S. The owner responded that for safety, we were kept off the beach due to a large Westerly wind and high waves.
- ruthandvern (10/5): Remarkable 5* property - The pictures cannot do this resort justice. The personnel were all fabulous. The fresh daily menu always had plenty to offer, we both gained weight. Our villa was outstanding, very comfortable. We basked in the Sun, played in the awesome pool that has shelfs down to a diving depth, lovely temperature. The stairway down the cliff to diving opportunities was brilliantly planned and executed. I had two two-hour massages, Vern had one two hour massage. The prices are extremely reasonable and satisfying. Kudos to both Charlita M and Ceniza O for their skills. The owners are devoted to the place and it clearly shows in the result. They assisted with getting us to a bank, and also with our ferry tickets moving us over to Bohol island. We highly recommend this lovely holiday resort, almost unnoticeable from the road. One level arrangements so no balconies. Wi-Fi was good, no actual live TV but lots of apps from which to obtain programming.
- Don (10/5): - The resort was wonderful. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The surroundings were absolutely beautiful, set on a cliff with stunning views of ocean and sunsets. The restaurant was very personal and the food ranged from good to very good.
The ONLY drawback is the location. It is a one hour ride (take a car, NOT a tricycle) up steep rugged hills, and it is in a VERY isolated location. We hired a driver to take us to the nearest town.
There was NOTHING to do there.
If you're looking for a quiet, maybe romantic stay....definitely go here!! If you want to venture out and explore, maybe this isn't the best choice.
- Marco67Kalinna (10/5): Place to Relax, snorkel & dive in Siquijor - Perfect place to chill and relax for a number of days.
Unique, stunning view - if you are lucky like us you see a family of dolphins pass by- nice, well designed and maintained bungalows.
Great food, with several Swiss specialties, pair it with a wine and you can enjoy the sunset and have a stress free time.
The Swiss couple running it are very helpful and the stuff are impeccable.
Diving and snorkel gear available, and the cliff is just in front of the resort.
- Manuel (10/5): - The way they made our stay as convenient as possible. Didn't expect to find such a high, European standard on the island of siquijor. Totally recommended!
- karinap811 (10/5): Stairway to relaxation - This hotel may be slightly expensive, in terms of cost of stay and dining, compaired to other hotels. But must say, that I think it was worth all the money. Stayed in a fantastic cottage, with a sea view, lovely large rooms. The cleaning was very thorough. Internet works fine.
The food was so good, that we ended up eating at the hotel every day. The menu consists of 2 starters (about 200 pesos) 3 main courses (about 500 pesos) and 2 desserts (about 200 pesos) to choose from.
Was out diving / snorkeling with them, service was great, and the equipment was in order.
The staff is very friendly, and well mannered.
Lived there when the corona virus erupted, and the owners helped us a lot, in finding information about our return trip, would like to thank them many times.
Is very isolated, so if you want to go out every day, it can be a bit of a problem, for us it was nice, because we loved the tranquility and peace.
- Christina (8/5): gorgeous views of sunsets - Tuck away from main roads or tourist centers of the island (don't get worried when the drive to the hotel is taking you on bumpy roads), this boutique hotel is perfect for quiet relaxation.
The staff is incredibly attentive and since with just a few rooms, you feel part of a small family immediately.
They also offer a fully equipped diving center, however, our stay was too short to try diving as well.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good but very expensive - Good service, clean, nice staff.
Be prepared to pay a high premium.
- PF6282 (8/5): Amazing remote resort - We stayed here for 3 nights.beautiful setting overlooking the ocean especially at sunset.because it is so isolated once you're there its not easy to go other places without booking their scooters or van. The roads there ( the last 10 km) are even too difficult for a trike.
However the setting and the food once you're there are spectacular.
- julesA1 (10/5): Paradise - This was a beautiful corner of paradise, a credit to the owner. What a lovely surprise, hidden behind a rusty gate on a dusty track. Set in lovely gardens with views over the sea from the cliff side, it's fabulous. A series of steps takes you straight down to the sea and your very own section of coral reef to swim and snorkel.
The rooms were lovely with a comfortable bed and a beautiful outside bathroom. The service here was the best we encountered anywhere in the Philippines. The staff really could not do enough for you. We stayed here for 3 days of pampering, rest and relaxation.
The only downside here was that you are not very close to a town and restaurants.
It is possible to hire a scooter here at a reasonable cost if you want to explore. We found the nearby roads to be quite challenging and therefore did not do as much exploring as we would have liked.
Fortunately the food here was good, with a choice of three different starters, desserts and main courses each evening and a good choice of wine.
- 193henrikn (10/5): Wonderful resort - We spend 5 wunderful days in kawayan Holliday.
We enden up in the hotel due to some unforseen changes in our planning. From the first minute in the resort we felt really good taken care of. Very sweet staff that is helpful and takes the time to do everything the right way. No stress and no pressure in whatever is needed.
Our children enjoy it a lot, and could spend all day in the pool. The rooms are very luxury. All is clean and functional.
The house reef is still in good shape. Good snorkel and excellent diving.
The resort is slightly of the main road, but all the way worth is.
All the best to the staff from us, from Denmark.
- keel (10/5): One of a kind! - Best place ever! Extended our stay with 4 days. It is the only place i would stay in Siquijor.
- Joel (10/5): Amazing Experience! - Incredibly friendly staff and personalized service. Great food and drinks. Luxurious comfortable accommodations & amenities. Amazing views and sunsets. Direct access to great snorkeling and diving. Professional dive shop and guides. Perfect for couples wanting a good mix of adventure and a romantic and luxurious experience!
- Erik (10/5): Excellent! - Kawayan hotel resort is the best place on the whole island of Siquijor. Great service, neat bungalows and the food was great. Best way to finish a trip to the Philippines!
- Stephen (10/5): - Great fun, lovely resort. Beautiful island
- Genie (10/5): Quiet boutique villas with cliff-side view of sea - The villa we stayed in was very chic with a unique bathroom layout that was outdoors with a rock garden, rainfall shower, and enclosed for privacy. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The food was good though a little pricey. The couple that owned the resort was really nice and upgraded our villa from deluxe to luxury. The dive instructor in the resort was also super friendly.
- Gregor (10/5): Top / 5 Nächte im Deluxe Bungalow - Waren für 5 Nächte im Front Bungalow, ist der Preis wert ! Sehr empfehlenswert.
- Nikola (2/5): AVOID THE OWNER CALLED POLICE ON US FOR NO REASON - It was the worst hotel experience that I ever had.
The owners do not know how to behave to their guest, they are unfriendly and unhelpful, customer service does not exist at all.
Last night the owner ran up to our villa, banged on our door and shouted loudly to me to leave the room. When I asked what happened he only kept shouting and shouting without any reason, he reproached me that I made reservation through hotels.com ( I made it like that because their website did not work), that I complained all the time and he did not want to have us in his property. That he is owner and he could do whatever he wants. He threatened and berated me rudely. I refused to leave our room, because I paid for whole stay and most importantly I did not break any rule so that was no simple reason to kick me out. But he kept on coming to our villa and kept shouting how much time there is until our departure and if we will not leave the room he will take us out personally, even if we were naked at the time. I did not move so he called the police! When the policeman came and asked what was the reason he refused to tell him in our presence, and he just kept on shouting, asking them to carry us out from the hotel.
The police were shocked, surprised as much as we were.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Bra service, rent o snyggt!
- Ignacio (10/5): Scuba life - Awesome hospitality. Private and serene. Only 7 villas so very intimate. Only downside was if you don't dive not many other activities. Also needed to buy water even during the meals taken at the hotel.
