Guest Reviews
- olga (8/5): - Океан и природа. Еда в ресторане немного однообразная, но вкусная. В номере постоянный запах канализации. Кровати очень-очень узкие.
Предложение экскурсий не разнообразное.
- Erdal (3/5): Berbat - Şehir merkezinde Gece saat 03:00 elektrikler kesilmiş, ben uykudaydım, 400 civarı karınca banyo giderinden çıkarak üzerimi, yatağı ve odayı sarmış. Gece bu sorunumu çözemediler, rezil bir biçimde uyudum, odamı değiştirmelerini istedim, otel boş olmasına rağmen bunu yapmadışar. Sosyal imkanları çok zayıf, sıkıcı bir otel. Yanlış tercih.
- ahmed JOHN (10/5): - Loved our stay at Equator Village. The greenery is beautiful, the atmosphere is peaceful, and the food was really enjoyable. A very relaxing experience overall
- Nenad (10/5): -

- Queen May (9/5): - Thank you for a very active service and granting my request for his birthday. You make his birthday so special💕😊 thanks to all the staff.
- Lewis (5/5): Okay stay. There are many areas for improvement. - The hotel itself is spacious and quite comfortable. Everything was exceptionally clean, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, the water pressure in the rooms was noticeably low, and the Internet was a major disappointment. It barely worked in the public areas and was nearly impossible to connect to from the rooms.
There was also some confusion around the difference between "all inclusive" and "full board," which could have been better explained. On a positive note, the staff were genuinely friendly. One of the cooks stood out in particular. He clearly takes pride in the local cuisine and runs the local food section daily. That part of the buffet was consistently the best. The rest of the food was fine, but not memorable. Drinks were another weak point. The alcohol served was very low quality and not something I’d recommend.
Across the street, there’s a small souvenir shop run by a kind gentleman. He rents snorkeling gear and sells decent souvenirs, which was a pleasant surprise.
Overall, it was a good stay with several highlights, but there are definitely areas that need improvement. We asked for a late checkout and were kindly given until 2 PM, which was a nice gesture. However, there was a hiccup during checkout. The staff initially said I had paid through Booking.com, but I hadn’t. It turned out the person assisting me was new. Thankfully, I asked for a receipt before heading to the airport and caught the mistake in time.
We booked a snorkeling excursion that was just okay, but the best snorkeling experience by far was at Asdu Park. Due to ongoing reclamation in the area, the water has become murky and rough, which made the overall experience less enjoyable than expected.
- Andrei (10/5): - Все очень хорошо)))Персонал вежливый и дружелюбный,номера чистые и комфортные,еда вкусная,дайвинг шикарный)))👌СПАСИБО Слабый интернет-это единственное,но отпуск это не испортило.
- Evangelos (10/5): - Such a wonderful place! Wd visited end of July and it was tranquil and laid back. Definitely more than a three-star hotel
Nice staff, each and everyone of them.
Mr. Gadar in the restaurant always saw to ot that our usual drinks arrived without us having to request it. Mr. Ali was always so helpful to advise for dishes and prepare the omelets.
Mr. Nero at the bar, always with a smile. And Mr...... from housekeeping, who made sue we felt super-comfortable, and one day decorated our bed with a beautiful flowe design.
The gentleman whose name I don't remember who brought mattresses for the sunbeds.
Responsive, helpful, efficient reservation staff. After our flight to Male was interrupted midway and we arrived several hours later, we missed the flight to Gan. I informed the hotel in writing and they were kind enough to arrange seats on a later flight. They also allowed us to use our room after check-out to shower, and because of our delayed arrival, gave us free access to lunch on the last day.
For all-inclusive package, the hotel offers for free daily snorkeling trip and twice a week island hopping.
Several sun lounges on sand- covered floor - feels like a beach (beach itself usually covered by the sea, hotel grouns are on a higher level). Sea offers amazing snorkelling opportunities, rich sea life (hotel should include a training session for guests to teach them not to stand on or touch the corals).
Pool is pretty, but we did not use it.
Dishes at meal time were constantly replenished, variety was not large but sufficient. Food was tasty. Several cocktails on all-inclusive menu.
Room spacious, daily cleaning, very efficient. Towels and sheets exchanged daily, spotlessly 2 water bottles per day (can request more at bar with All-inclusive).
Loved the cats and cockorels that come greet you on your verandah or beach chair.
Would definitely visit again if flights to Gan were cheaper and didn't raise overall costs so much. High tea from 4-6 pm (free for all-inclusive) was disappointing.
Breakfast ends eaely, at 9:30.
Timing of meal times and excursions is not ideal.
Lunch is 12:30-2 and afternoon snorkeling trip starts at 2 pm - snorkeling so soon after eating can be dangerous. Why not start the snorkelling half hour ater meals end?
Mattress was wobbly.
Shower floor is slippery when wet with shampoo.
- Shilenje (10/5): Exceptional -
- Caroline (8/5): Very good - A wonderful resort with its own pool, house reef for snorkelling, gardens, dive centre, generally great staff and interesting history.
- Christiane (8/5): best value for money resort on Maldives - best value for money resort on the Maldives, spacey room with good aircon, good buffet style food, big pool, nice bar area with decent entertainment in the evenings, not noisy, friendly and helpful staff, good house reef for snorkeling, 1 snorkel trip per day and pedal bike rental included in AI rate, great snorkeling spots visited with the boat.
- Masao (10/5): Exceptional -
- Abdulla (7/5): Good -
- Hassan (2/5): Very poor - staff were good and they gave me packed breakfast since i had early morning depurture. This is the Worst holiday destination i ever vizited. Room were not clean, the tiles were broken in the Room, charged me over $100 for 1 nights. the money spend there is not worth it. moreover their rules in the restaurent surprize me, They didnt allow me to sit with my Wife.
- shankar (10/5): - Its very good to stay..staff are too good and polite.
- Alexandru (8/5): Lovely hotel and staff, great food and drinks - excellent value for money! - The food offered is really good, and the booze is strong which is always good. The pool and beach areas were great, and the fitness centre was fairly good for a short holiday work out. The pool bar was a great addition, but bit of music would have been much better to relax and enjoy.
The staff was excellent, really lovely; however we did notice the communication between them was rather poor which led to a lot of confusion when trying to plan different things.
- Amber (8/5): Very good -
- Helen (6/5): Pleasant - Comfortable bed and good location Staff inefficient, too much paper / printing at reception.
- Sadhuhan (8/5): Very good -
- Richard (9/5): A pleasant two night stay before joining our dive boat. - Helpful friendly staff. Abdulla Fahmy was particularly helpful managing our bokking and organising domestic flights and transfers. We booked full board which didn't include any drinks, NOT even water with meals.
- Stephen (9/5): Great value, quality stay in a lovely setting. - Good sized room with ceiling fan & air conditioning, nice comfortable bed.
Lovely pool area. Also a good sea front with tree shade & loungers. A beautiful beach "Bounty advert style" is within a 5 minutes walk.
Delicious food with plenty of maldivian/asian dishes spiced to perfection.
live music twice a week (Great Band).
Exceptional value compared to island resorts. There was a pier about two hundred & fifty metres away, which the huge stone barges moored to for the lorries to collect stone from for sea defences and island development. - giving a little noise pollution at times. (Hopefully this is a temporary thing).
- Okhotnikov (8/5): Very good - Ocean, staff and food Marina near hotel (noise from boats and smell)
- Sathyanathan (5/5): 👍 - Staff on the bar were responded properly with very value and friendly
Reception front need to give some detail Staff on the restaurant behaviour was not at all correct, also they are irritating in their behaviour.
They may need some training..
- Jeoffrey (8/5): Very quirky visit to the Maldives - not the usual 5 star island resort and better for it . - All inclusive deal , drinks were limited choice but not unexpected , Big Thank you to Sogath and Nasro who looked after us really well .
Food choices were very good , a couple of themed nights would be an added bonus , the Reef fish was always on the menu and always excellent as were the curry choices but plenty of options for non spicy food lovers. European meat options could be a bit more tender.
The Equator village is part of the old RAF Gan establishment, historically there's so much more that could be made of the site from a guest perspective , a historical tour of the site maybe and more information about the site?
Obviously if you're in the Maldives you're there for the ocean , the snorkelling was excellent with the house reef being literally yards off the beach , great snorkelling. Daily boat trips to go snorkelling to other areas are in the all inclusive as are a couple of other trips . The hotel has bicycles to loan , free on all inclusive deals and you can cycle up through the Atoll for about 10 miles .
All in all a great place to visit. Unfortunately , outside the control of the Equator village, was the offloading of a construction barge which disturbed the peace and tranquility of the resort ( it's only a temporary problem and is due to finish very soon ).
- Jerry (1/5): Will NOT return... - NOTHING... Front desk VERY rude and unprofessional!!!
- Ravi Kumar (8/5): - Satisfactory for the price
- Alejandro (6/5): Pleasant -
- Kulahuvafen (1/5): I would never stay there or recommend to anyone. I will ask all my friends to boycott Equator Villag - F&B manager.
- Adetoye (8/5): Very good - Hospitality was top notch. Internet speed was really slow.
- Giulio (3/5): not the trip you expect - food was quite good. the pool is nice. room not very comfortable I had bed with wheels! horrible.
there are some roosters at the resorts which sings every morning at 6 am (and not only in the morning)
staff was unfriendly, with some execptions like the guy at the pool bar.
plus, they can’t speak English very good, so it was so difficult to understand each others.
the sea wasn’t very good: sometimes dirty with pollution.
moreover there is no softy white sands like you can expect from Maldives.
- Bruno (10/5): Exceptional - I had trouble with the ferry Fuvahmulah-Addu and could not arrive
- Hanna_r. (9/5): Perfect place for marine life lovers - We choose this resort due to the great house reef, which exceeded our expectations with its awesome marine life (turtles, sharks etc.).This place had everything we wanted of our holiday: air-conditioned rooms close to the beach, good breakfast, good cleaning, great swimming pool (though the reef.was more important to us), good gym and a professional diving center. This was our 2. holiday in Maldives, and this time we expecially enjoyed to be on a local island and learn to know the local people and culture. (First holiday was on a hotel resort island). Equator Village is great value for the money! Special thanks for the super-friendly staff! -
- Sanjay (7/5): ok ok - swimming pool food service
- Jahan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Amy (10/5): magical. - the service at the resort was outstanding, shot out to gadir ! always 10/10 service ensuring we had everything we wanted or needed! we love you Gadir! your the man ! shout to the bar staff for the beautiful screwdrivers and beautiful smiles every day! absolutely outstanding dolphin tour and the guide in the boat was perfect in every single way! he explained everything about dolphins and gave us front row seats to see the magical creatures! his smile was also beautiful! thoroughly enjoyed the band which played on the evenings with English classics such as wonderwall and some magical Maldivian classics, one of my favourite evenings dancing on the beach with my fellow guests! really multi cultural with in the guests you can meet friends from all around the world! I will be back love lots room 102 xxx nothing everything was 10/10
- Gregg (8/5): Very good -
- Mustafa (10/5): Amazing stay in Maldives - Everything from the service to hospitality
Everyone were great in their position
The reception and the restaurant staff were amazing
Thank you very much for one of best holidays i have ever had Nothing :)
- Sanjaya (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sue (9/5): we really enjoyed our holiday at this beautiful location. definately recommended. - the amazing staff, location and facilities all made the holiday fantastic We went at a time of year where mosquitos were a pain (literally!)
- Ahmed (10/5): Exceptional -
- Fazni (10/5): Exceptional -
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very clean and tidy. Staff were lovely. Food was very good and good variety.
The only thing that was a little misleading is the free trips.
It mentioned that for all inclusive guests there is a free island hopping boat tour And snorkelling tour. For the island hopping technically this is true, it’s is free, but it only runs twice a week on the two days that has flights coming in and out of the airport. Because of this unless you are staying for more than one week you can’t go on it because it is only run on the day you arrive and the day you leave. And you cannot go on another trip in exchange.
The free snorkelling tour is unguided and therefore only recommended for experienced snorkelers. And you have to hire snorkelling gear at a cost.
Which overall didn’t end up making that much difference to our stay - but to advertise two free boat tours included for all inclusive gusts just feels a bit dishonest when we found we couldn’t actually go on either of them.
- M (10/5): Paradise on a low cost budget - Before I begin...if you are the type of person that picks holes at every opportunity, then it’s not for you.
The room is basic....1 small wardrobe with half a dozen plastic coat hangers and nowhere to place folded items, but you improvise. Leave them in your case.
The bed is large and comfortable. The en-suite bathroom is spacious and the shower has plenty of hot water. The air conditioning is good and it is left on day and night.
The food is excellent. We are both Vegetarians, but the meat dishes looked tasty and they had a variety of different choices daily.
We absolutely loved the soups.
The beach is small, but very safe and ideal for snorkelling. There’s no shortage of sun loungers and you can safely leave your towels, books etc unattended whilst you go for lunch.
The pool is large and kept very clean. Most of the pool is kept to a depth of 1.4 metres, but at one end it is closer to 2 metres.
With the all inclusive package you can more or less get a drink from 9am until midnight.
The daily snorkelling trips and the once weekly island hopping trip is all part of the package.
This place is popular with Eastern Europeans as they know a bargain when they see one. Many told me they have been coming every year for the past 10 years. We are going to go for two weeks every year from now on.
This is not 5 star luxury. There are plenty of those to choose from in the Maldives if you don’t mind paying £500 pounds a night.
- wong (10/5): Peaceful little island - Its a nice peaceful stay for us, the all inclusive package definitely worth the shot. There's not the typical Maldives expensive resort you seen on TV, but everything is there for and adequate with friendly staff and service with smile. Gan island is a quiet easy island to spent a few days, enjoy the hospitality from little island just south of equator.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I have stayed before on two occasions, some refurbishment has been carried out since the new management took over a year ago. To the good the pool area looks great and has had new tiles and a lick of paint . The lack and condition of the steps to get out of the pool needs addressing . Also the bar service is somewhat slow but then we are on holiday. All in all a lovely place to see the real Maldives
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Firstly, let me say that this is (or was) my favourite hotel in the Maldives and that the ordinary staff, cleaners, barmen, waiters gardener etc. are extremely hardworking and courteous. However the hotel is suffering from sever mismanagement from the top. The beautiful old pool bar has been vandalised to the point of destruction leaving it unsafe and unusable in poor weather. the wooden steps to the beach are rotted to the point of one of the steps breaking under a 70 year old female guest leaving her badly shaken and bruised but miraculously not seriously . The beautiful gardens are a shadow of their former self, looking overgrown and neglected, we even had to tie back the undergrowth to gain access to our room!! If you are a non-smoker, be aware that smoking is rife in the bars (including the swim-up pool bar
- Kah Kay (6/5): Good transit hotel for Gan Airport - The hotel is a good transit hotel if you have an early morning flight to catch from Gan Airport after having spent your other days in other resorts. Otherwise it is a very basic 3-star hotel with only one restaurant. Breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets are at US$18.50 per person.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Brilliant Value - If you like to snorkel choose the all inclusive deal which includes one free boat trip per day. Make sure you get to Mulikeda, Banana Reef and Bushy Island as they were the highlights for us. The staff are friendly and go the extra mile, just don't expect luxury, however the room was adequate and the a/c worked a treat. The food was fine with plenty of options including a good salad bar. If you're feeling peckish in the afternoon, savoury and sweet treats with tea/coffee are available from 16:00. Equator Village is brilliant value for money and would definitely recommend a stay. I'm already planning another trip for next year, 'nough said!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Rooms were basic as shown in photos but clean and had everything that you need. Plenty of sun beds either by the pool or the beach.
Breakfast was the same every day but a very varied menu for lunch and dinner. Meals were really tasty with lots of flavour. It was good to have so much choice of vegetables.
Staff always pleasant and helpful.
We went out on the snorkel boat to different locations most days and saw an abundance of fish including sharks, eagle rays and turtles. The snorkelling was also good off the beach. It was a great holiday.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice relaxing island. Our only concern was that since we went last year they had lost a few bar and restaurant staff which had not been replaced. They were much needed shall I say.
- Jamie (10/5): Good relaxing stay - The staff were friendly and we recieved a very nice greeting from the general manager on our arrival. The location is good - the beach front rooms are quiet and there is a good coral garden just off the beach - we saw turtles, octopus and a small reef shark right there. The hotel room was comfortable - we were a bit apprehensive when booking but the rooms turned out to be fine. Well maintained, clean and spacious. Not luxurious but good.
We managed to hire a scooter from outsude the hotel and used that to visit other parts of the atoll - the nature reserve in the far north is quite worth a visit for its coral too. The breakfast and other meals were fine; again not luxurious but good. There were vegetarian friendly options too. Given the location it was possible to visit local restaurants too.
- Sharr (10/5): Great holiday thanks to Equator Village. - Great room located beachside and the all inclusive package makes it all so easy...no more to pay. Staff were friendly and very helpful. We loved the snorkeling and island hopping trip and the location on Gan Island is great to cycle around and meet the locals.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - A bit dated - but you could see some improvements were being made - like the pool was beautiful
- Mohamed (6/5): - Gate staff at hotel entry were terrible. Since I was a local they always stopped me and called reception to verify if I was a guest every time I tried to re enter. Did not see this happen to foreigners.
- Anne (10/5): An unforgettable holiday in a unique place - We visited Equator Village, on the island of Gan, to celebrate our Coral Wedding Anniversary. We couldn't have chosen a more spectacular place to see and explore the natural environment of the coral reef and to be able to get out into the local community, cycling into the small villages, meeting the people and seeing the unspoilt Addu Atoll. The history of the RAF station here during the world war 2 was an added extra interest.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice hotel - Very friendly stuff members mr mohamed is a great helper as well
The only problem over there that beach is not the best but using there trips you will find great beaches to go to
Food is more than fine
need more TV channels for me I didn't need it
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great! - Great value for money and completely recommend it! Next to GAN airport in Addu Atoll.
- Rohit (8/5): Stay at Equator Village. - Over all a nice stay. The water sports and other activities are the cheapest here as compared to other resorts.Best is the Dolphin Cruise And it should be must on the list of guest staying in this resort. The only thing to be improved is service time as the guest staying at Equator Village should not expect there needs attended immediately by the staff.
