- agneshQ5385PV (10/5): Ended our Franciscan pilgrimage at Il Cantico in Rome - This hotel is owned by Franciscans and within easy walking distance of St. Peter's. Room was clean, comfortable. We had a lovely outdoor private balcony. The breakfast buffet was plenty. There were still and fizzy water dispensing stations in the hallways. They kept our luggage so we could catch an early tour of the Vatican Museum.
- Gavina (7/5): - Il personale, soprattutto al bar. La colazione , scarna… si può migliorare..
- Kamyar (6/5): -
- Tobenna (9/5): Rome - always a special place in my heart. - Staff - lovely!
Breakfast - simple but okay!
Location - not so bad. Would be great during summer months!
I really liked the convenience of a water fountain just outside the room to refill the bottles!
CHapel in the top floor - now that's a 10 for me!!
- Alessandro (7/5): -
- anthony (9/5): Clean, centrally situated and reasonably priced stay - Very clean, Very central. Good Airconditioning. Unobtrucive staff. Nice terrazzo overlooking St Peters Basilica. Plenty of bars and restaurants around. Two more pillows; Kettle and coffee making facilities; small table and chair

- ALESSANDRA (8/5): BUON SOGGIORNO VICINO A SAN PIETRO - L'ALBERGO RIMANE IN OTTIMA POSIZIONE VICINO A SAN PIETRO LE CAMERE ERANO MOLTO PICCOLE PER 2 PERSONE E IL PREZZO CHE ABBIAMO PAGATO IN ALTA STAGIONE SECONDO ME UN PO' TROPPO ECCESSIVO
IL PARCHEGGIO E LA COLAZIONE SONO COSTI A PARTE I MATERASSI DEI LETTI POTREBBERO ESSERE MIGLIORI
- Julie Marie (9/5): - It was close to the Vatican city. And the room was very big & comfortable. The room was dark. Nothing.
- mariana (10/5): - It has on-site parking (for an extra €15 fee), but it’s absolutely worth it!
The place is clean and perfectly located — you can walk to the Vatican!
- Mary Beth (10/5): - .
- Maria (10/5): - If you are exploring Vatican City, very convenient to roam around the beautiful country ❤️🙏
- Josephine (10/5): Staff were exceptional 😊 - Very clean and comfortable. Great location.
- grata (10/5): - There is St. Gregory Catholic Church a walking distance from it and route to St. Peter Basilica which I found it from other people. Different coffeeshops , convenient stores. It’s away from the busy street that keep it safe and away from noise But a walking distance to access the Main Street with public bus.
It’s a hidden gem in the heart of Vatican with great breakfast and homey environment - garden, roof terrace with its restaurant overlooking the Dome and lots of good stay! We enjoy the place and surely we will choose it again. Thank you to the management and staff. Keep up the good work.
- bluegene126 (10/5): Very good hotel near St Peters Square - Very clean hotel
Friendly and helpful staff who speak English
Breakfast was very good
Our room was good and the shower was excellent
Would stay here again when in Rome
- Anne (10/5): - We loved the staff and their helpfulness in anything we asked for. It was very accessible to all the things wanted to see and experience. Breakfast was wonderful and provided something for every different diet required for guests. Other hotels in Italy have not provided the excellent services, location, food and decor for such a reasonable price. Thank you!
- Janet (10/5): - Clean room. Breakfast was wonderful.
- simonaZ4053KC (10/5): Ideal hotel for a lovely city break. - Nice modern hotel in a great location close the St Peters Basilica.
Hotel was very clean, bedroom was comfortable and the shower was good.
Easy walk to the Vatican area, or take the bus 46 or 916 into the centre of Rome. We got a good price through EasyJet holidays.
And used TSA airport transfers.
Lovely 3 nighter in Rome.
- Silvia (9/5): Eccellente 3 stelle per accoglienza, posizione, parcheggio, pulizia, comodità letti. - Accoglienza. Garage. Letti. Gli spazi all’aperto dovrebbero essere più curati.
- Michael (10/5): - Nice hotel, clean, short walking distance to the Vatican.
- Marc (8/5): -
- Maurizio (8/5): - La chambre
- Patrick (10/5): - Everything was nice, including the staff.
- Candida (10/5): - Very clean and safe for a solo traveler.
- Peter (10/5): - It was a great hotel and the staff were a great help and very nice.
- Vivian (10/5): - Excellent location, very close to the Vatican. Extremely helpful staff. Beautiful little chapel.
- P1374XDleeg (4/5): Stay ruined by theft. - Overall the hotel itself is in a great location for the vatican and if happy to walk then can get to everything under an hour. The rooms are satisfactory.
I would recommend but would caution ensure you lock everything away and check your luggage if leaving at reception.
A good stay was ruined by finding out someone had stolen my earbuds from my luggage. Another worrying thing is despite do not disturb sign on the room we returned wvrry day to find that housekeeping still entered the rooms. Can only be one reason! To see what can be taken.
Book with caution
- marcela (10/5): - Very clean, nice breakfast, near bus stations, and friendly staff.

- sophiesQ1972XF (10/5): Brilliant stay - Excellent hotel. We stayed here for 3 nights and we found the hotel fantastic. Excellent location, 5 minutes from the Vatican, if you like walking the rest of the tourist sites are roughly a 45 minute walk. However if you catch the 916 bus which is located just by the hotel, for €1.50 it’ll take you to stops within 5/10 minutes of these. The hotel was clean, comfy and the air con was amazing after the 37-40 degree heat this week! The hotel staff could not do more for you. We have no complaints and we will come back to Hotel Cantico when we come to Rome again.
- Michele (9/5): Very good - The location is excellent. Very close to Vaticano in a quiet place. The cost is too high.
- christi (8/5): - Good location within walking or bus ride to surrounding sites. Quiet neighborhood on mostly residential street. The room was ok - weird setup with floor length mirror in front of bed, lol. Shower was a disaster (water leaking through doors every time we used). The breakfast was great and they were always very helpful. Cleaners/housekeepers did a great job! We would stay again.
- Martina (6/5): - Bathrooms are too small - difficult for 2 people to be in the room at the same time.
- Patricia (10/5): Beautiful views from the hotel to the Vatican - The hotel is close walking to the Vatican. The only inconvenience is that the street to go to the hotel is deep high if you have difficulty to walk could be complicated. The room that we had was very nice with a nice view, the breakfast was very nice and they had the gluten-free options that we needed. All the staff were very friendly. we only stay 1 night. They have a beautiful terrace where you can see the Vatican it has spectacular views. The only thing I didn't like was the dryer. It is connected to the wall so it is very difficult to manage to dry your hair since the cord is not long enough. I recommend you bring your dryer.
- Wilnelia (10/5): - Was very convenient
- glenda (10/5): - Excellent service and clean
- glenda (10/5): - Excellent service and very clean
- Shahrokh (10/5): - Near to Vatican and service is good
- Kunitoshi (8/5): - The room was so clean and the staff were so friendly but the amenities of the room were not enough for me.
- Dream04791581264 (8/5): Fantastic location - Fantastic location , walking distance to the Vatican City .
Didn’t use public transport outside hotels , taxis were cheap enough .
Hotel room modern, clean , no kettle , no iron , mini bar , bathroom products provided .
Breakfast ok , no toaster , not really a warm option unless you wanted scrambled egg on a bread roll , plenty of cake to choose from . 2 choices of cereal . Two coffee machines , although one was broken on Christmas Day . Man in restaurant on a morning very miserable didn’t speak ( don’t think he was happy working over Christmas )
Reception staff very helpful and friendly
Would stay here again , would bring a travel kettle
- Joseph G (6/5): - Nice but shower leaked, window grate broken, but staff were extra kind and helpful
- jamiew159 (10/5): A quiet piece of Rome only 5 minutes from the Hussle of the Vatican - We didn't know where to pick a hotel so we ended up picking this one on a whim. We are so glad we did.
We were met at reception by two kind and helpful receptionists. They were attentive and helpful.
The room was small but clean and lovely. The bathroom has the best shower ever. I didn't want to get out.
We didn't eat at the restaurant but the dining room was large and clean.
We drank at the bar which was extremely modern and the barman extremely helpful.
The receptionist booked us a transfer to the airport which was on time, in a fantastic beautiful minibus with a driver who was amazing.
We will come back here if we ever come back to Rome. This quiet beautiful hotel helped us rest when we was r out walking and exploring.
Thank you so much.
- Ralph (10/5): - Wow what a nice surprise. This will be one of myfavourites in Rome. A very pleasant stay
- Charlie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Steven (10/5): - It’s a great place for the price! Can’t go wrong
- Kimberly (8/5): - Breakfast was lovely, very walkable to many buses and the Vatican .. Very clean , loved to water in the hallway.
- Nancy (6/5): - I like the staff at front desk.
Quite, clean. I didnt appreciate the rudeness of the both bartenders at the lounge, very cold and arrogant.
- BLLG_LP (8/5): Ideal location - Stayed 4 nights. Room’s very clean , hotel staff very helpful , the roof top with the view is amazing as its so close to the Vatican!
Loved staying here , ideal location , aircon wasn’t the best in the room we stayed in it kept changing automatically so we got up hot in the middle of the night (room 209) we didnt know that the drinks in the fridge were billed to us at the end (even the water) it was our fault really but just a heads up to others that might not know :)
Thankyou.
- Pamela (10/5): - Excellent hotel very well located close to Vatican and
- Kristen (10/5): A short 2 night stay however I easily felt very relaxed and at home in my room - Did not have breakfast at the hotel however there are a few good cafe’s nearby… within a 5 minute walk Everything was perfect
- Luisa (8/5): - Nice hotel and staff - quite and cloese to the Vatican.
- Denis (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ellen (8/5): Very good - Convenient location to St Peters Breakfast not great could have been fresher
- Malcolm (10/5): - Great location and friendly staff
- Malcolm (10/5): - Great locations and friendly staff
- Raymond (9/5): Superb -
- Siew (8/5): Very good -
- Peter (8/5): Very good - Nice place, nice people and quiet.
- Stemm (6/5): Pleasant - Close to centre of town Needs a good clean
- Coleen (10/5): An excellent, welcoming and friendly staff with comfortable accommodations. - Convenient to visit Vatican. Not convenient to central city attractions.
- johndZ8318NS (8/5): Very good choice - Best value for money - The hotel is a very good choice, location base combines the close distance from the Vatican (20' on foot), quiet area, the staff at the reception very helpful and kind. Very good cleanliness in the room. The only bad thing was the breakfast, which had minimal variety and very small quantities and average quality. If you go 30' before breakfast time ends, you won't find anything to eat.
- 231annay (10/5): HOME AWAY - Perfect service, both hotel and restaurant - We celebrated my daughter’s wedding at Cantico and everything was perfectly managed by the restaurant and by the hotel alike. We invited about 72 people for dinner and half of them also stayed in hotel. They were all very satisfied.
The food was excellent and well presented and the flowers arrangement a very fine one, tuned with the theme of the party.
- Cristian (9/5): Superb -
- Maurizio (8/5): Very good -
- Petula (8/5): - This hotel is in a quiet area a short distance from the vatican. The hotel is very clean and modern inside and has gardens and seating areas outside including a roof terrace. It has a restaurant that is very nice which is ideal because the nearest restaurants are not close to the hotel this resturant is separate from the breakfast room which is much larger. The continental breakfast was lovely with plenty of choice. The nearest metro station is quite a distance from the hotel and the walk took us about 45 minutes. I would definitely stay here again because the hotel had everything we were looking for.
- 154ziviles (10/5): Comfortable and quiet stay next door to Vatican - The staff was as amazing as the location of the hotel. It is very quiet, very clean hotel with a wonderful coffee in the mornings and a beautiful terrace on the rooftop. It is very well run. It is located next door to Vatican - a central location in Rome - can't be better. Thank you for a wonderful experience!
- Ballarta (10/5): I will make this my go to place next time I travel for business. - The staff were friendly and helpful. I loved that it had a chapel. It is walking distance to the capitol.
View of the dome from the hotel
- Sigitas (10/5): Exceptional - I like it Perfect location
- Maja (9/5): Superb - I would always recomend this hotel. Everything was great.
- chlolou13 (10/5): Stunning - Was absolutely blown away by the location and service at this hotel. The lady who checked us in was so friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. From their roof terrace you can see St Peter’s basilica perfectly. Location wise it was a short walk to the Vatican City, and we walked into the city of Rome every day. Loads of shops around for snacks, local pharmacy, and some gorgeous restaurants. We went in July, during 43 degree heat, and the aircon was perfect! Would stay here again next time we visit.
- Nicholas (10/5): - The staff/people were friendly and informative, they were attentive to my needs, and the food was great during breakfast and at the restaurant.
- Harry (9/5): Superb -
- Erlinda (10/5): - Quiet, safe.
- Erlinda (8/5): - Quiet area.
- Kylie (8/5): Very good -
- Zdeněk (8/5): Very good -
- Canice (6/5): Pleasant -
- Susan (6/5): Pleasant - Location was good. No coffee in room or available until 7:30 am
- Jordan (8/5): Very good -
- J_travelB (10/5): Nice place - This hotel is in an ideal location for a number of reasons although it's not very centrally located. It's nice because Rome's really busy. And it's very quiet around this hotel. It is only about a 10 minute walk to the Vatican and maybe 20 minutes to the hop-on hop-off bus location. But it's nice to come back here after a busy day in Rome and have somewhere really quiet to stay. We loved the roof top patio- its really fun to sit on and just watch Rome and the sun set, and you can see the Vatican very easily, not very far away. Actually we didn't realize the hotel was this big, but there are quite a few rooms in it. The service at this place is really nice, and the front desk was able to speak some English. They did call us a taxi a couple of times, which came really quickly to this location. We thought the room was really clean and the breakfast we had was nice, with fresh selections available. They had very fast wifi. We would stay here again. The one odd thing about the hotel was that in the room, they did not have any wine glases or a wine corker. Since we were in Italy, we had some wine and thought we'd enjoy some before dinner. We had to go to the restaurant to ask, and they let us know there was a 5€ service charge to lend some wine glasses and a corker as they prefer people don't bring wine into the hotel-so even for your room that's a charge for 'service'. Never saw that before in any of our travels. However, we enjoyed the hotel!
- Paula (10/5): We would highly recommend and will go on social media to recommend when we return back home - Hotel staff assisted in arranging transportation from airport and then again to Cruise Port. Communication was very prompt and precise and very professional. All was arranged thoroughly without any problems. Very professional staff We had to leave. Would have liked to stay longer
- Otar (4/5): Disappointing -
- Gabriel (9/5): Superb -
- Kathy (7/5): Good - The location is great, very close to St. Peter Square, but in a quiet area with good restaurants, a small supermarket, pharmacies and hair salons... very convenient.. No iron available. I brought a steamer but broke, I had to buy an iron across the street, since it was to close to a major event that I had. Front desk did not offer any assistance with that request... otherwise the front desk staff was very nice.
- Robyn (8/5): Very good -
- Mary (8/5): - Room was very nice balcony was a great plus, breakfast was good but the best thing was the staff. They were helpful and friendly- gave us directions and called a taxi for us. Only one minor issue- Ants appeared out of nowhere-they were after something on bottom of shoe- I put shoe outside and killed the ants on the floor-that took care of at the problem
- Poles (10/5): - It was a few short days, went fast between shopping and site seeing. The room was Cousy and nice. The reception needs to be friendlier with guests.
- Michael (9/5): Superb -
- Huggett (9/5): It was clean and staff were friendly and helpful. Loved this stay. - It was very clean and staff were incredibly helpful. Nothing I can think of. We’d definitely stay there again.
- Jack (6/5): Very enjoyable time in Rome - Location to the Vatican was great (less than 10 mins) for the other tourist hotspots of Rome it was an hour walk.
Staff were pleasant and spoke good English Cleaners did not follow the do not disturb sign on door. Moved items unnecessarily in the room.
- CaperCalgary (8/5): Rome best view - 10 minute walk to st Peters. Friendly & efficient front desk. Clean. Quiet. Beautiful roomy patio. Rooms are std european small. Shower was great. Free water to fill up. But the rooftop was my favorite spot. I wish it was open past 10pm. 5 minute walk to a local market or cafe for morning coffee.
- Mulrooney (8/5): Very good - Very clean and exceptional service. Nothing.
- Wilco (7/5): Okay - Close to Vatican City. Big room with terras. Airconditioning was poor, way too hot in the room. Concierge was smoking behind the reception. Rooftop terras was not inviting to have a drink or to stay.
- Diane (10/5): Exceptional - This hotel was outstanding! The staff , the breakfast service which included everything imaginable, plus the eggs and bacon many enjoy, great cappuccino and friendly servers, the Restaurant was the best food in Rome ! Gorgeous decor amazing server ( not sure of his name ) professional , great Roman dishes, seafood pasta appetizers, beautiful atmosphere! The room was clean spacious ,air conditioning, great personal care item shampoo , staff at the desk helped us get local taxi and also transfer to airport ! Cannot believe how beautiful the terrace was in a quiet neighborhood , with a beautiful church walking distance ! Loved Il CANTICO !!! No complaints
- Shona (8/5): Close enough to walk to all attractions in Rome about 15 mins walk. Chemists and Grocery shops very close by. - Helpful staff
- Parker (10/5): Not happy with breakfast. - The place was clean and the staff were friendly and professional. The position of the hotel was very central to the Vatican. The Manager of the restaurant was rude .They didn't provide a variety of healthy options for breakfast even when I request 1 option of food.
- Liana (10/5): Perfect hotel and grounds were gorgeous and peaceful. Cannot beat rooftop view! - Fab views, rooms and staff
