Staff were very obliging, sorting out and helping with planned activities. Honesty bar good idea. It was our base while in Chile. Would like tea and coffee facilities in room. Didn't like 3rd flight of stairs, especially after horse riding!

The Valentine's Day dinner in the garden was very special. The included breakfast was great. This is a lovely old restored building. Perhaps the lovely wooden floors could be re-varnished, but this a a very minor point.

There is a tranquil garden with various seating where you can relax. The hotel is centrally located within Downtown across from Plaza de Brasil. Easy access to many attractions, eateries, cafes, & bars. Breakfast included pastries, ham/cheese, yogurt, cereal, fresh fruit, & choice of eggs. Kind & welcoming staff. Highlight to Lucia & Macarena for showing warm hospitality. Due to central location & bc my hotel room was at the front section, you can hear some street noise at night. The ceiling lamp is dusty with bugs inside. The reception desk has to buzz the gate to let their guests in & out. Its a security measure, but it can be inconvenient.

The staff are incredibly helpful and are always there if you need them The honesty bar is a great idea and the breakfast was delicious. The welcome we received was wonderful & the gardens were an added bonus where we enjoyed an afternoon drink in the dappled sunlight. - Susan (9/5): Beautiful place and centrally located made a perfect place to start our vacation - Beautiful building with French architecture,that has been renovated, and a well kept and relaxing garden. This was an easy spot to walk from to the surrounding shopping areas and restaurants. Our lovely room overlooked the garden and included our own private bathroom. The staff and owner were very helpful, and arranged for transfers to and from airport and useful suggestions on how to get to tourist sites we were interested in. Our winery visit was excellent too. The stairs going up to the room were necessary to take and thou beautiful bannisters made it easy to navigate, it may be a challenge for some, at least for 3rd floor rooms.

- Britta (5/5): Schön, aber schlechter Schlaf - Sehr schöne alte Villa Ich hatte ein Zimmer im ersten Stock, die Dielen knarzen wirklich sehr laut, falls man Pech hat (wie ich) kann man nicht schlafen, wenn das Zimmer über dem eigenen vermietet ist. Also nur die oberste Etage buchen. Das Hotel hat nicht gut auf die Situation reagiert.

- Roy (9/5): Small and friendly boutique hotel with lots of character. I would recommend. - Friendly, helpful staff. Nothing was too much trouble. The hotel is in a building which is full of character with beautiful decor. Tea and coffee is available throughout the day and there's a bar too. Breakfast was buffet style with an option of freshly cooked eggs. Guests may use a comfortable lounge and there's a lovely garden to the rear of the property. The staff arranged trips and taxis for us and we were very grateful for their guidance. Our room was located on the front of the hotel. The bedroom and bathroom were quite small and due to the age of the building and lack of double glazing, the room was fairly noisy. The road outside had traffic throughout the night.

- Anne (10/5): Beautiful, historic property - Room was beautifully appointed - and huge— with a terrace overlooking the garden below. Afternoon wine in the public areas was delightful and the breakfast exceptional with choices of cooked and cold foods, fruits and pastries. Coffee was strong and black. Noise from building next door; it was a Sunday night and people partied till 3-4 am! Wow! Impressive! But the good parts of our stay outweighed the less good.

Plusieurs restaurants pas loin. Nous avons passé 3 nuits en total. Un jour la chambre était pas tout à fait faite. Il n‘y avait pas de bouteilles d‘eau, il manquait les coussins sur le lit etc. Mais ça ne change pas le fait que nous étions très contents avec le service et le personnel de l’hôtel

- Elisabet (10/5): Avstressande atmosfär mitt i staden - Mycket personligt och man fick en känsla av att vara en privat gäst i ett privat hus. Fantastisk frukostbuffé. Härligt att kunna sitta ute på terrassen och äta eller ta ett glas vin. Trädgården var mycket avkopplande. Hela Matildas andas en välkomnande atmosfär Trappor gör det svårt för någon som har svårt för att bo att boka detta hotell.

- Cathryn (8/5): An historic and elegant hotel with lots of character - A beautiful period hotel with a history of elegance and fine living - quite unique in Santiago. It felt a privilege to stay there (even if it is a little tired in places). It was lovely to sit on the terrace for breakfast and evening drinks. The staff were delightful and produced a specially decorated muffin for my husband's birthday! It was a little further out of town than we would have liked, but there were some good restaurants nearby (especially Squella).

- ZuzanaKohutova (10/5): A real hidden jewel in Santiago - Our stay was absolutely fantastic. The hotel is located in a charming mansion and the rooms are spotless clean. The staff was always available whenever we needed anything and even packed breakfast for us prior to our early departure on the last day. You can have your morning coffee in a beautiful garden or in a lovely lobby while you wait for your eggs, a perfect start of a day. We simply loved it.

Het personeel was ontzettend vriendelijk, steeds bereid om te helpen en ons van alle mogelijke informatie te voorzien. Ook werden onze taxi-ritten geweldig geregeld. De kamer was heel ruim, mooie badkamer en comfortabele bedden. Er is een prachtige tuin om even te relaxen of van het heerlijke ontbijt te genieten. We kunnen het iedereen die van stijl houdt van harte aanraden.

- Iris (10/5): - Einen herrlichen Garten zum Entspannen mitten in einer Großstadt war ganz besonders. Eine liebevolle umgebaute Villa mit einer herzlichen Besitzerin, ausgezeichnetes Frühstück. Man kann die Innenstadt zu Fuß erreichen Hier fällt mir nichts ein.

- Evelyne (10/5): Ein wunderbarer Ort für den Aufenthalt in Santiago. Sehr zu empfehlen. - Wunderschönes Haus, sehr schöne Zimmer, Garten. Wir haben bereits zum zweiten Mal gebucht und waren beide Male begeistert. Das Personal ist sehr nett und freundlich. Das Frühstück ist reichhaltig und aussergewöhnlich gut. Das Hotel liegt zentral und im Quartier hat es eine gute Auswahl an Restaurants. Uns hat alles gefallen.
- Linda (8/5): Loved the ambience of the Matilda Hotel Boutique - This boutique hotel was formerly the castle of the niece of a former President of Chile, with 12-foot ceilings, lots of windows, and transoms above the doors. The French style architecture was beautiful. The back garden area had a lot of older mature trees and bushes with lots of sun, shade, lounge chairs, and tables and chairs. The room was small and comfortable with private bath; and each guest room floor (2nd and 3rd floors) had a shared sitting area outside the rooms. Breakfast is included and was very nice - various muffins and pastries; lots of different fruits; beverages: juices, milk, teas, coffee; several cereals; and eggs cooked to order. There were tables on the back porch so you could enjoy your breakfast overlooking the garden area. There is only a 7-block walk to the Hop-On-Hop-Off bus route, which is a great way to see the city, Funicular, and Cable Cars. There are several restaurants within walking distance to the hotel. The only thing I did not like about this boutique hotel was the fact that there is no elevator. They had an "elevator" only for taking the luggage upstairs, which I believe was the former dumbwaiter. If you have a hard time with stairs, this may not be the best place; there are 55 steps to ascend to the third floor of the hotel, which is where our room was located.

Not sure it’s in the best location. We booked here as walking distance to the horse racetrack. No staff on arrival so hard to get in. (Just push the electric gates if no one answers the intercom)
