We were permitted a very early check in which extended our stay by half a day, and Jeff’s comprehensive introduction to the area saved us time and ensured we focused on the essentials. Catching the fishing boats arriving mid afternoon was a most memorable spectacle…..This is a charming and spotless “no frills” motel with a unique location in a magnificent area…..A few minutes walk into town and you will find fine dining, a lively bar scene, and shopping…..even closer is the elevated fishing pier which is a must….then the lighthouse is a little way north….all easily walkable….

If you’re looking for the perfect spot to rest your head this is it. Cottagey rather than shi-shi they have all of the amenities you need. Convenient to everything at a much better price than CBI. We unfortunately got locked out of our room and I had to drag the owner out of bed to get us back in. He did so all the while with a smile. It was a great experience.

You are 1/2 mile from Chatham downtown, and a similar distance to Chatham Light. Scrupulously clean and quiet. Great place to stay!

The location is stellar and the family run business provides a truly pleasant experience as you can feel the pride in their work. We loved loved staying. We even bought lobster at the harbor and made our own lobster rolls- eating outside with the million dollar view!

In general it was quiet and unassuming. Easy 10 minute walk into town.

The hosts were friendly and very helpful with every need, from advice on food to ideas to experience the local area to helping with small little things we needed during our stay. The beach access is wonderful and inspiring and we spent real quality time by the water. The lawn is warm and friendly and our group enjoyed each other "hanging out" together. The staff at the hotel was also friendly and helpful throughout, and were available to keep our rooms clean on an irregular schedule due to our commitments during the weekend. I would come back again any time I needed to be on the Cape.

The location on the beach is perfect and it is close to the Main Street that runs through the charming city of Chatham. It is the quintessential Cape Cod experience. The owner, Jeff, was welcoming and informative. I can see why people return here year after year. We had a great visit.

Ocean view rooms are the best but you do pay a bit more for a view. Would be nice if they had beach umbrellas for the guests to use. They do have chairs and beach towels though. If I had done more research I would have known no umbrellas but it was not a huge deal since we don't sit on the beach all day anyway.

• tracieleeb (10/5): The Hawthorne was wonderful! - Our room at the Hawthorne was very quaint, had a terrific view of the ocean as well as beach access and a lovely lawn with beautiful flowers to enjoy if not on the beach. The Hawthorne was conveniently located just an 8 minute walk from Main St in the center of town. The maid service was wonderful! We truly enjoyed meeting Jeff and Kari! They were always around to help out, answer questions or give suggestions of a great day’s activity or a terrific place to get dinner or a drink. We loved our stay at the Hawthorne!

The rooms are tidy, with a kitchenette and full updated bath. I highly recommend The Hawthorne Motel.

We sat outside with the view of the ocean overlooking a beautiful flower garden. The owners are lovely and very informative. And yes, the towels are very soft.

• SavvyTraveler288 (10/5): Wonderful Stay in Chatham! - I stayed at the charming Hawthorne Motel last weekend for a wedding at the Chatham Bars Inn and had the best experience. The property was super cute, very clean, walkable to Main Street downtown and had a warm, homey feel. The views of the water/beach front were absolutely stunning and made the stay even more special. It’s a family-owned business, and Jeff and Kari—who were managing the property and working the front desk—were incredible. Kari’s kindness made me feel like I was at home (I even started calling her my Cape mom!), and both she and Jeff were so accommodating, thoughtful, and genuinely good people. If I’m ever back on the Cape, I would 100% stay here again. 10 stars for location, accommodations, & customer service. Highly recommend!

However, there were clothes from previous guests that were left in the drawer. We didn’t realize it until we got home with a set of clothes that wasn’t ours. Leave it to my husband to grab clothes and not realize they weren’t ours!

• ClementineTM (10/5): Peaceful and Beautiful Oasis for Wedding Weekend - We had a family wedding in Chatham and many of our guests stayed at the Hawthorne. Jeff and Kari were incredibly warm and accommodating to all of our various and changing needs. We had all types staying there (including a family with small children, elderly people, a couple with a very young baby) and all were well accommodated and very happy with their experience there. The setting is stunning, with a wide lawn overlooking the scenic harbor, and gorgeous flowers and plantings. The chairs on the lawn called out for you to just relax and take it all in. There is a pathway to the private beach. All of the rooms our guests had were exceptionally clean and comfortable, and it was clear that this property is lovingly maintained. We would definitely stay at the Hawthorne when we return to Chatham, and we'd give it our highest recommendation.

• richardlI4086AJ (2/5): The worst Cape Cod ‘rental’ I’ve ever experienced - $500 a night for a cramped motel room. Lawn chairs were set up in front the unit that gave an astonishing view of the parking lot below, the bathroom drains were basically clogged. There’s clear beach access, but the beach is shared with any number of rusting commercial fishing boats 20 yards offshore. We should have just walked out when we actually saw the place, but we didn’t because the fee was non-refundable.

We were in town for a wedding and needed to coordinate a bunch of rooms/requests/etc. And last minute changes and adjustments too. They could not have been more helpful. I had lots of questions and they were all answered. Not just about the motel but also where to eat, what to do etc. Very helpful. We really enjoyed our stay. Again cute motel, great location within walking of downtown Chatham and a lovely view too.

• txjenjen (10/5): Our very favorite in Chatham! - Our favorite place to be when in Chatham. The owners are wonderful, rooms are clean and spacious, basic but not uncomfortably so. The back lawn faces the ocean and it's a one minute walk to get your toes in the sand. My cousins and I meet here every summer, and we are really attached to the Hawthorne. Happily drop anchor every June. Thanks for eveyrthing.

• NNobel (9/5): A lovely stay with ocean views. - The location is perfect with the private beach. Our daughters just loved running around there and on the premises with the nice lawn. The staff is so nice, and check-in and check-out were smooth. We loved Chatham, sweet town and not overly touristic. Buying a take-out dinner at the Fish Pier and eating it with the ocean view at the Hawthorne was delightful. It's a little pricey, but that's to be expected in the Cape.

We sat on the beach right in front, walked to Main Street and drove to other nearby towns. The owners could not have been more hospitable. Our room was immaculate as well. Cannot wait until our next visit.
• 552nuritn (10/5): A lovely stay with ocean views on Cape Cod. - We had a lovely time at The Hawthorne Motel. For our family, we could not have asked for more. The service was fantastic with smooth check-in and check-out. This is a family run business and you can tell their heart is in it! The room was exceptionally cleaned and was spacious enough for our needs (family of four). It had a fridge which we used for making a simple breakfast as there are no dining facilities on the premises. The private beach was so nice and our daughters loved running around there. There were even lounge chairs, towels, and beach toys which we appreciated. We walked to the Fish Pier in the evening and got a takeaway dinner which we ate on the lawn overlooking the ocean while our daughters run around looking for bunnies - can it get any better than that? :) Chatham the town was lovely as well, we enjoyed walking around the main street there. We found it less overwhelming and touristic than Provincetown. They had live music on Friday evening and many art installations around. Overall we had a great stay, a tad expensive for our taste, but it is the Cape.

The rooms are very comfortable, the grounds beautifully maintained and the private beach area with lounge chairs is ideal for a quiet low key beach day. Main Street Chatham is a quick walk down a side street for shopping and dining. We will certainly be back! The owners and staff are top notch and take pride in providing a comfortable stay.

• E7323ZDfm (10/5): Amazing Anniversary Stay - My wife and I visited Chatham in mid-June to celebrate our first anniversary. We stayed at the Hawthorne Inn and it was the perfect place. The rooms were nice and the service was excellent. The other people staying there were quite friendly as well. We enjoyed the amazing views of the cove and the access to the beach was perfect. The office staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Next time we visit we will definitely be staying at the Hawthorne Inn again.

Perfect location for exploring Chatham and the Cape. The room was serviced daily and Jeff and Kari treated us like family. Easy walk or bike ride to downtown Chatham and the fish pier.

The units which have a small kitchenette, are charmingly decorated in blue and white, immaculately clean and always seem to have been freshly painted. It is within easy walking distance of downtown restaurants and stores. There is a private beach. Best of all - it is located on a hill overlooking Chatham Harbor! We have spent many hours seated on the lawn with a glass of wine watching the boats.

• jamieannmedina (10/5): Stay Here for a Conference at Chatham Inns Bar - If you have a conference at the Chatham Inns Bar, this place is perfectly situated to attend and not stay at that the conference hotel. My conference was located mostly on the south lawn of the Chatham Inns Bar property, which is nearly next door to The Hawthorne. I had less of a walk than others staying at the conference hotel itself. Just what I needed for a four day trip. I will stay again.
