Guest Reviews
- Emma (6/5): Decent accommodation - The rooms and shared spaces were nice and clean. The staff is only on site from 9am to 12am. I tried to message them several times both through booking.com and WhatsApp regarding bike rental and luggage storage. However, I didn’t receive any replies. If you want to do your laundry it is really expensive 2000 JPY for one wash+dryer.
Our room had a really strong smell of perfume and even after staying there for three nights with open windows we couldn’t get rid of it.

- Lucido (10/5): - Good 😎
- Stella (8/5): - Staff was nice and friendly, the facilities like the shower rooms and toilets were good. Washing machine, a little expensive so I wouldn’t recommend doing laundry there. The rooms for two were slightly small if you are sharing with another, but it wasn’t so bad. The cleanliness is good, would recommend to stay there:) Rooms a little small, shower room also kinda narrow lol. Laundry kinda expensive, that’s about it.
- Vincent (10/5): - The bed provided is extremly comfortable even though it is a foldable bed Doors and windows are a bit thin and have some see-through gaps
- Franz (6/5): -
- Daniel (10/5): - Posto stupendo, molto cozy. Tutto era molto pulito! Ci tornerei volentieri!
- macarena (10/5): Increible!
- Max (10/5): Affordable and comfortable! - Staff were very friendly! Location excellent in a quiet area, excellent value for money :)
- Ádám (8/5): - Location, cost, check in was great
- SONIA (5/5): No - Le falta muchaaaaa limpieza
- Gilles (7/5): - The tatami bedrooms are fun, definitely one of the cheaper options in town Shared spaces weren't the cleanest, one of three available showers didn't work for the whole stau
- Azamat (9/5): -
- Mitchell (3/5): Not good - Bad location, thin walls, shared toilet and seperate shared shower, no bin in room, and just not a great vibe.
- Joulanar (8/5): - The rooms are quite big, especially for Kyoto ! I was in a twin room that could have easily accommodated one or two other people. The location is a tad far from city centre, however, the value for money is excellent, especially during the Sakura season, so ultimately, I'm not complaining!
- Pascal (10/5): - Propreté Ras

- Alika (10/5): Wonderful stay! - This guesthouse was very nice! The location was in a quiet neighborhood, which we appreciated and everyone was very respectful of each other's space. The kitchen was stocked with everything you might need and all the spaces were very clean. Would stay here again! The light in the bedroom is very bright with no secondary dimmer source, which would've been nice in the evening. Not a deal breaker at all, it was still a comfortable space to stay, but a lamp with a warm light would have been appreciated!
- Ragnheidur (8/5): -
- Angela (7/5): Location which stay there again and hope the staff are more friendly and helpful and welcoming next time - The location was convenient and the place was quite clean . Very unfriendly one staff in particular. In fact, we didn’t know she was Staff as she never spoke or welcomed us until the second day when someone mentioned she was Staff.

- Eva (9/5): - Meget cozy
- CHI TUAN (8/5): -

- Michelle (7/5): Served our purpose for a few nights - Location was good We did not like that some of the guests did not respect the 10pm quiet hours
(10/5): - Quite No

- Wen Chi (10/5): -
- Rasa (10/5): Simple, Friendly, and Worth Coming Back - I extended my stay three times and, altogether, stayed for two weeks. I think that says a lot. The place is simple but clean, the staff are super friendly, and the location is good. If I can, I would definitely repeat my stay again. CAN'T THINK ABOUT ANYTHING
- Rafael (7/5): - Buena ubicacion y limpio Wifi inestable y lento

- Olivia (10/5): Lovely place to stay while exploring Kyoto! - Great place to stay while in Kyoto! Quiet, comfortable and clean with a great kitchen and lounge area. Lovely staff and centrally located - well connected by buses to anything you need. Nothing, it was great!

- Milena (10/5): - Fujitaya is an amazing place with an excellent location. It’s close to Tambaguchi Station, with easy train access to Kyoto Station and other destinations, and also near several bus stops. Getting around Kyoto was extremely convenient, and returning safely to the hotel was always easy.
There’s a 24-hour Lawson just a 3-minute walk away, which made it very convenient to buy anything we needed at any time. The facilities are exceptional: the room is cozy and beautifully Japanese in style, and the shared bathrooms are always spotless.
The living room is very comfortable and welcoming, with plenty of materials for tourists, including maps, guides, and staff recommendations. The staff provide great suggestions for nearby restaurants and places to visit, as well as clear information on how to reach Kyoto’s main attractions. There’s also a fully equipped shared kitchen and a cart full of books and magazines to enjoy in the common area.
The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful—exactly what we were looking for in Japan. On New Year’s Day, the staff even took all the guests to a nearby temple, which was a truly special and memorable experience. I was so happy to explore Kyoto while staying at Fujitaya. Highly recommended!
- Tania (8/5): - Good value for money, the kitchen and common area were cozy and inviting. Well located within Kyoto, very close to both bus and train stations. The showers were a bit small, laundry was expensive (1800 yen) and no smoking area on site for smokers. Moreover, only one key was provided for a three adults room.
- Rakesh (9/5): experience at Fujitaya Kyoto was warm and memorable - The owner was warm and welcoming. He explained everything clearly and was kind enough to help us get around. He even invited us to a nearby shrine, where we had a wonderful time celebrating the New Year with him and his family.
The new staff member who joined on December 28 was also very kind and supportive. She shared the New Year’s dishes that the owner and his family had prepared, which made the experience even more special. We would prefer to stay again and will recommend to our friends and colleagues to visit Fujitaya Kyoto . The toilet bidet on the far left on the 1st floor was not working.
We also had an unusual experience with a staff member named EKA. We weren’t sure if she was officially staff, but her friend was sleeping in the bottom living room when we came to use the kitchen, and there were alcohol and snacks left out on the table. Since we had children with us, this made us feel a bit uneasy. The friend later went into a private room with the staff member, which was surprising to see in a guesthouse setting.
Other than these points, everything else was exceptionally well managed, and we would definitely stay again when we visit Kyoto.
- Deepali (10/5): Comfortable, Homely - It had all the amenities one might need. Rooms were bigger than expected with huge storage space. Bathrooms were clean and always available. They have an open kitchen too so you can heat up your take away food. It is located in walking distance feom the Kawaguchiko station which is just 2 station away from Kyoto.
- Benjamin (6/5): - Good price. Never met any staff member. Neighbours seem actively hostile towards guests, with an ultrasonic sensor pointed directly at the entrance.
- Stephen (10/5): -
- Raguenet (9/5): -

- Mariana (10/5): - The kitchen and living room is a good space to relax, cook and make friends. Although they changes the kitchen, it's a little bit smaller than in the picture. Still spacious It's not close to the subway, so be aware of that. You can still go everywhere by bus
- Isabella Maria (10/5): Bestes Hostel in ganz Kyoto! - Sehr Ruhig, sauber, komfortabel und wunderschön ! Zentral gelegen
- Laia (6/5): -
- Khan (10/5): All good will say there again - Convenient and clean. Nothing to note.
- Cui (5/5): - Location is ok No service at all
- Marta (10/5): - Az elhelyezkedése, a személyzet rugalmassága, kedvessége, a tisztaság.
- DAVID JIAN HONG (8/5): Good for a sleep after a long day visit - Good value for money, walkable to Kyoto station, staffs speak English, customer service was good. Easy to chenk in and out. Our bedroom smell bad, we had to open windows when we went out
- montedori (10/5): -
- Puneeth (8/5): -
- Angelica (8/5): -
- Ignacio (5/5): - Living room reducido.
- Emaly (8/5): Good, basic accommodation in otherwise expensive Kyoto - This is an average accommodation in Kyoto where you get exactly what you pay for. It is a hostel with two levels and all the facilities you would expect or need during your trip. The location is fairly convenient with bus stops nearby, but it is also in the middle of a neighborhood so it is very quiet and peaceful at night. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the place is very clean. The living room area is spacious, and the shower room was large for a hostel. For just under $100 USD per day in Kyoto, we were glad to have a private room and everything we needed. The beds, despite being futons on tatami mats, were quite comfortable with the option to add additional padding underneath. The rooms do have a very strong musty tatami mat smell, which happens when you have a tatami mat room. The front desk is also only staffed for a few hours in the middle of the day, so we didn't see anyone working for the hostel until a couple days in. Not a problem because the hostel really runs itself, but it is definitely not a very social or inviting space. We didn't meet anyone while we were here and people were hardly ever hanging out in the common space. It's a basic place to stay but you should not expect much more out of your experience than a place to sleep, chill, and reset.

- CLAIRE (7/5): Chouette - Yuka est formidable
Le lieu est cosy simple bien placé
La douche est agréable
Merci Exigu
- Mary-Anne (8/5): - It was an enjoyable stay but except for the very nice young woman who was there in the morning, everything was diy. It seemed a bit sterile from that point of view, buy one night we had a united nations gathering of travelers around the big table in the common area and that was a wonderful thing!
