Guest Reviews
- Keiron (10/5): Would stay again - Very friendly guy at reception upgraded us rooms due to a technical error over booking
Rooms was freshly decorated
Great location only being 15 minute walk from city centre
- Paul (10/5): Well situated. - Just on the outskirts of Newcastle.off main road to the coast. The hotel was ideal for our visit, also right next to cricket ground. We enjoyed our stay and will use this hotel again.
- Arul (8/5): - Great place to stay whilst visiting our daughter at uni. Comfortable. Friendly host.
- Peter (10/5): - Comfortable room in a nice area
- Philip (10/5): - Lovely place to stay, comfortable room, nice staff
- David (10/5): Great stay - Was nice and central for Newcastle. Great host. Very friendly and polite. Definitely worth staying again
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Superb staff, great breakfast, good location
- Matt (10/5): Good stuff - Everything as expected with no fuss! Manager was a sound bloke, unfortunately we weren’t able to check out the breakfast but enjoyed our stay none the less
- benjamin (8/5): Good Location, Basic but excellent service! - The manager was incredibly accommodating and couldn't do enough for us. We where up for my brothers stag party from Liverpool and he was super warm and friendly. The rooms where basic, but the rates good, good location and wifi and what more do you want for a quick trip?
- Malin (8/5): Great service - Very service minded staff. Rooms were a bit cold but really comfy beds.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This property is in a good location for the city centre, we used it for a visit to northern pride so was perfect for this, good value for money, rooms nice and clean, breakfast ok, overall excellent value for the money
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Within easy reach of transport both buses and metro taxis are cheap and reliable. Quiet location lovely breakfast !
- Woo Chang (8/5): - good for business trip
- Cheshiregal (8/5): - Quiet hotel for the Jesmond area - good news. Room had small but very good en-suite , room facilities were good - kettle , good hairdryer etc except the tv which had terrible reception . Bed was comfortable . Breakfast very good and hotel offered permit parking for a £1 per night another great bonus . Reported a problem in the en-suite which was quickly rectified
- Susan (8/5): - The staff were friendly & service was great. However it could be noisy particularly at night from the cricket club & some guests being noisy
- Mark (10/5): Nice b and b in Jesmond close to the city centre. - For the price, this is a nice little b and b. Stayed in single ensuite rooms. Bathrooms were a bit small but functional. Breakfast was very good, catering for vegetarians too. Proprietor was friendly, helpful and lovely. Car parking was no extra cost as hotel provides permits free for the duration of your stay. We stayed on a very hot weekend in July and the rooms were very hot, so I think a fan in the room would have been welcome, other than this I would stay again as it's very close to the city (20 mins walking) but not right in the centre so no problems with noise when sleeping.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Best hotel to stay at low budget - I stayed in The Avenue hotel for 2 Nights and really loved that hotel .... specially impressed by breakfast offered by them in the morning.... which is served by the hotel owner...
I will love to stay again the hotel on my next visit to Newcastle...
- David (8/5): Very pleasant hotel in the heart of Jesmond - Bright and clean room overlooking the cricket ground . The staff welcoming and pleasant.
Excellent breakfast.
- Paul (8/5): Avenue Guest House Review - Excellent service and very welcoming. Great value.
- Pablo (10/5): Worth every penny - La casa está en un bonito suburbio de Newcastle, a unas cuadras del metro que lleva al centro. El desayuno inglés es insuperable y los anfitriones son amables y serviciales... Para volver...
- Mari (8/5): Grazioso hotel a Jesmond - Camere molto pulite in zona silenziosa. Personale molto gentile e disponibile.
- mats (8/5): Enkelt men rent och trevligt - Bekvämt promenadavstånd till Metron. Trevlig personal.
- Rob (6/5): Quiet place to stay in Jesmond - Did what it said on the tin! And that is more than can be said for many an establishment. Convenient and quiet too in what can be quite a raucous part of town.
- Barry (8/5): Convenient and clean B&B - In a quiet and convenient position . Well received by very helpful hosts, who looked after all of us admirably.Would recommend.
- Emvin (8/5): A nice stay. - Unpretentious but clean and comfortable. We were in room 8. Size of room was OK and very clean. Great breakfast in the morning and extremely helpful staff. A big well done. As with most guest houses there is no lift, so if you have problems going up stairs you should advise of this at the time of booking. There was really nothing to complain about.
- Stian (8/5): - Came over for the Newcastle game and had a nice stay for 3 nights..The staff was just great, arrived very late and the boss was waiting for me so i safe could check in..The location was also good, took me 25 min walk to St .James Park..i will be back here and can recomend this for everyone :)
- Harry (4/5): Disappointed with hotel - I had about three quarters of a mile to walk from the local Jesmond Metro station to the hotel as there was no taxi service at this station, it was pouring with rain and I had two suit cases to pull so I could not use my umbrella, by the time I reached the hotel I was soaked right through, and even worse was to come when I rang the bell nobody was there to welcome me I tried several times no answer, it was clear nobody was in to answer the door. As I had just arrived from Thailand I did not yet have a UK sim card so I could not tell the hotel. To say the least I expected the hotel to be open when I arrived which was approximately? 20:30pm fortunately a taxi came pass the hotel and I flagged it down I explained my predicament to the driver and he called the tel No which was displayed outside the hotel. The owner answered and was shocked as he had obviously forgotten I was arriving. When he arrived full of apologies first saying he thought I was arriving later then got me mixed up with another guest who was arriving the next day, excuses, excuses.
The single room was extremely small and the shower cubicle did have a soap dispenser you had to open the show door to use the soup dispenser over the wash basin.
The owner offered to buy me fishn chips but I was not interested, in the morning at breakfast he gave me ten pound I guess to keep me quiet. The only plus I can give this place was the breakfast was good value. In fact it should be classed as a guest house.
- phillip (8/5): Ok B&b - Nice B&b , owner was very chatty , tv in room could have been a bit bigger !!
- Martin (6/5): Clean and Pleasant guest house - The Wifi was really poor unfortunately and having to pay for a parking permit seemed poor.
- Emma (8/5): - Fantastic trip and I couldn't recommend this B and B enough.
- Steven (8/5): Gateshead parking headache - Very difficult to park in the evenings if the local cricket ground (opposite) had any events.
- Jim (6/5): Guest House close to Metro - This guest house was farther from the city centre than we expected but was reasonably close to a Newcastle Metro station. Our room was typically tiny and on the top floor, requiring many steps up the stairs. The English breakfast was adequate and served in a pleasant room. The staff were fairly friendly but a bit abrupt once they had responded to your needs.
- Erica (6/5): pleasant stay - handy B&B, and lovely helpful guy running the place
- Andrew (10/5): Excellent B&B and great value for money - Work related stay.
Manager gave excellent service, even took my bag up to my room. Helped with local information and made me an excellent cooked breakfast!
- Mark (6/5): Clean, comfortable and close to everything - We were looking for something cheapish and cheerful for our weekend in Newcastle and this was perfect. The staff were very friendly, the hotel was clean and comfortable and it was only a short walk into Northumberland Street.
Only downside maybe is the bathroom, the shower is tiny and the bathroom is unheated so very cold first thing in the morning.
- Rachael (8/5): Nice B&B in Jesmond - Stayed here NYE with a friend, rooms were decent sized, and very clean. Check out is 10:30 but you can extend until 1pm which was a Godsend at NYE. Parking on site which is very handy. Staff were very helpful but did want us to keep the noise down so wouldn't recommend this for younger guests who are staying after a night out.
- Sheila (10/5): Freeman - One night while husband was in hospital.
Suitable for this occasion.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Excellent hosts very friendly, towels could do with an upgrade , clean and good basic food
- Alexander (8/5): Would happily stay again. - Very comfortable night.
- William (10/5): Right up my "Avenue" - Business trip, wanted somewhere clean, comfortable and quiet, The Avenue met all these requirements, friendly welcoming staff couldn't do more to help.
- William (8/5): right up my "Avenue" - I was made welcome from day one, staff couldn't do more to help, bed comfortable and clean.
- Judith (10/5): - The couple that look after the hotel were so helpful and friendly; I would certainly come back again. The only thing I would improve on would be that one of the single beds was very squeaky and the radiator thermostat was broken so that we couldn't adust the temperature. But otherwise, it was excellent.
- Fifi (8/5): Warm welcome in Jesmond . 10 mins from Toon Centre - Went to Newcastle for a weekend including match at St James Park.
The owners were prepared to be a bit flexible about check in time and let us store our case with them for the day after we checked out.
The Avenue is in a quiet street in an area which is residential and close to the cricket ground.
Breakfast is not fancy but there is plenty of it... the Avenue is not fancy ... but it's clean, its very reasonably priced, the staff are lovely, the beds are clean and comfortable ... recommended !
- Verified traveler (8/5): Bright room - Nice modern room, good windows , good staff and breakfast- room was small and difficult to get around in- tv stuck out from wall
- Emma (8/5): The Avenue - Clean and comfortable. Breakfast was basic but good and hot.
- Anna (10/5): Hyggeligt lille hotel - Glimrende værelse og badeværelse. Venlig og imødekommende vært. Største minus er at hotellet ligger lidt ude af centrum.
- LynnP (10/5): Central but quiet location - Clean and welcoming hotel. Great value for money, absolutely would recommend.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Pleasant stay and good breakfast. The hotel is nice and quiet and well located.
- janet (10/5): Nice hotel, so clean and quiet. - The breakfast was wonderful. The room was so clean I felt guilty touching anything. Although the bed felt very hard I had 2 of the best nights sleep I have ever had. I would recommend this Hotel opposite Jesmond cricket ground.
- Ollie (8/5): Good value for money and nice location - I stayed for 1 night here whilst in Newcastle for business. My room was very pleasant - it was clean, quiet and warm. The shower was quite sizeable.
The room came with all the facilities you'd expect - free WiFi, plenty of power outlets, a hair dryer, a kettle with tea, coffee, milk & sugar.
Breakfast was good. There was the usual array of choice that you'd expect from a B&B - cooked breakfasts, cereal, toast, etc. They even had vegetarian sausages for a veggie cooked breakfast.
I was able to park my car directly outside the B&B, which is in a relatively quiet residential road. There were plenty of parking spaces, and I was given a parking permit (for a very small price) for the night.
