Guest Reviews
- 566leel (2/5): Not for single women traveling alone - Very outdated dirty rooms, TV broken, microwave filthy, bathroom nasty, torn screen on window. No water pressure. Bed uncomfortable linen awful.
Not a place for single women, sleezy patrons.
Owners fairly friendly, but not concerned if you have a complaint.
- Robert (6/5): - noisy
- Stephen (2/5): - location was convenient everything was run down and need major repair wouldn't recommend to anyone -5stars
- Verified traveler (4/5): It's an adequately comfy dump - The place needs SERIOUS upgrades. They also need an exterminator or, at the VERY least to check for and remove waterbug carcasses from the room corners between guests.
The room shouldn't smell old and mildewy. I am almost positive that I had a better, cleaner room on a 3 day stay in Phuket Thailand in 1996
- Venugopal (2/5): - Basically bathrooms are very dirty. I see whole water on the surface while bathing. Also main door isn't locking. Need refund for this.
- Karyn (2/5): Sleep with Creepy Crawlers - This should be removed from hotels.com. The room was 100 dollars and was beyond filthy. There were BED BUGS and we could not stay there. It has not seen an update since Reagan was in office and there were even holes in the carpet. Hotels.com did nothing to get me a refund so I had to dispute with my credit card company. Did I mention the mattresses outside the door had bed bugs???? And the room had more of the same?
- don (8/5): - Older place that was clean and price was better than almost every other motels in this high priced DC area.
- Brianna (10/5): - Very nice and secluded area walking distance to a giant and 7/11
- Donald (10/5): - love parking right outside my door.lots of nearby food options
- Mark (6/5): - Old and not maintained well
- Donald (8/5): - Like parking right in front of my door
- Saeed (8/5): - Insects , ....
- Sourabh (2/5): - It was horrendous. Bed bugs and dust.. No clean water in taps... Garbage under the bed... Staff was rude.. No bulb in table lamps... Worst experience i ever had.
- Jose (2/5): - The hotel rooms are in really bad shape. Humidity in the walls, stains and cigarettes' burn marks on the floors. Not recommended.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Bro there was mold on the shower handles and shower head
- Mark (6/5): Event room but heat was inadequate. - The heater was inadequate. I froze my a$ off.
- Asha (2/5): Reallybad - So bad
- Mona (4/5): - The property have a bad location. and looks like the area is not safe, the receptionist has a protective glass barrier (the one we see in unsecured location). Seeing that made me uncomfortable and unsecured. Plus that the room is not as the pictures in website, no room service. and checkout is 11 am which I haven’t see before. However, the place is clean.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Good stay. - Good stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Some good things here - Very much worth it. A good value for the price. (And in my experience this place improves over the years, so next year it may well be still better. Management has dealt with this set of rooms very well, I think.)
- Dennis (2/5): - The hotel needs major upgrades and a better cleanliness policy.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Bathroom figures were rusty and black mould was on bathroom walls, shower stall and around baseboards in the closet. However, staff were friendly
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Place was filthy. Kids partied into the night next door.
- KJ (2/5): - Day staff was rude. You have to get ice from front desk in a bag. The overall condition of this place is horrible. I’m not sure how they are still in business. There was mildew in the bathroom, the carpet was extremely dirty, the sink was about to fall off the wall, the furniture was dirty and lastly none of the lamps work. I mean I know you get what you pay for but jeez man. I do not recommend anyone to stay here unless you just don’t have anywhere else to go. I feel like I should be refunded some of my money the place was so bad.
- Nicholas (6/5): - The motel was okay seemed out of
- Jay (6/5): - Very old style, needs updates to rooms. Bathroom was horrible.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Needs to modernize - Check in wasn’t computerized, even copying the credit card and driver license. Bathroom from the 1950’s and paint peeling.and smoke residue present.
- Harry (6/5): OK, but you could do better. - This is an old motel in a highly commercial area. The staffer at check-in was very friendly and assigned me a room in a rear building. That allowed me to park in front of my room and got me as far away from the main road traffic as possible. The room was clean but could use some sprucing up. There was actually a separate work room/office and my wi-fi jetpack worked fine (didn't use the motel wi-fi for security purposes) . The check-out staffer was equally friendly. While the price was consistent with the northern Virginia area, I don't think the room was worth the price.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Easy to find. It's an ok motel. Clean and confortable rooms
- Verified traveler (2/5): - there was roach and had awful smell not clean also there were no toothbrush or toothpaste
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The toilet cannot flush and the floor is so disgusting. The room was smell and small. The pictures shown on the website is completely different. This property should not be on your website
- Alice (8/5): - Have been charmed by this motel for years, finally had a reason to stay. The new owners have kept the original decor, porthole windows, prints of ships and "lighthouses" on the roof.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The gentleman who checked us is was outstanding, the room he upgraded and after he received the complaint was very clean
- Verified traveler (8/5): Pleasant weekend stay - Pleasant and quiet, room was good.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Property wasn't well maintained, furnishings in the rooms were very old, door locks were flimsy and I didn't feel very safe leaving my belongings there. Staff was friendly and price was very reasonable.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I would stay again. A VERY "vintage" hotel!!! They still have "real" room keys... needs a ton of upgrading. But all in all it was great for the price and what we needed it for. The free "breakfast" is not a breakfast. Coffee and donuts and apples....
- David (6/5): - motel is dated but clean
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The place is a dump! Is run down and dirty. We didn't enjoy it there at all.
- MILin0 (2/5): not even trying... - No hot water at 730am - only after 930am
No warm foods for continental breakfast.
No wifi for those who are not using a special 1 watt wifi booster.
No good room door seal, so light enters room from sides of door from outside.
Bath towels look clean but seem to have odor.
No protection from neighbor noise, you hear all drawers close and all voices. I dont think this is a legit motel, its more like a one room halfway house. So make sure you bring earplugs. Seen a crackhead wandering premises, you cant make this stuff up. Paint peeling off all walls in room. Rusty door jambs. No one vacuums under bed, found toy rings and crumbs and box tops under bed. Room has closet, with a sofa chair inside of it...weird? Maybe charging 70 a night is a bit too much!? The hot water issue is unacceptable. Lol, there is a phone in the room...its a prop because it does not do anything. Maybe they leave it there so guests have a weapon to use against the wandering crackhead?
I think this motel has potential. I wanted to love it and disregarded the bad reviews upon booking. Bed was decent. Clerk behind the bulletproof glass was very nice and accommodating in person, but if you call motel without them knowing you, they act like you are the sketchy one.
Lastly, the best thing about this place was the singular wrapped chocolate covered donuts they provide as continental breakfast, absolutely delicious.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - I would never go back there place is falling apart from every aspect.
- Verified traveler (6/5): There it is - I mean.. the room served its purpose
- Gerry (4/5): - Probably not maintained in 20 years with ancient furnishings and generally very poor condition. Some rooms boarded up and obviously vandalised.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Close to DC, quiet and decent price . If you are looking for a short stay this is the place you want to be
- Steve (8/5): - Outdated but clean and affordable would recommend to those on a budget
- Fernando (6/5): - Just passing thru...at least the heat worked!
- Joe (4/5): - You get for the price you pay. It's okay for overnight stay. It’s convenient going to nearby stores and restaurants. Internet was disappointing..it comes and goes. The room phone doesn’t work. TV remote doesn’t work much and was stuck watching 1 channel. Don’t use the microwave and TV same time because the power will trip..had to walk to the office to complain since the room phone doesn’t work 😡 Not coming back to this place.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location, timely check in. Great customer service. Will be returning
- Steve (2/5): Terrible - When I arrived, the place was closed with a note on the door to call a number. They had a fire and the hotel was condemned. Management did not even call to warn. Left me stranded without a room on Memorial Day weekend.
- Laura (2/5): Scam - Hotel room was added to Expedia at discounted rate even though the hotel had been closed. It appeared the hotel was closed for days and suv's were sloppily parked in the lot making it hard to maneuver. Extremely unhappy with Expedias' handling of this situation.
- David (2/5): Stay away!!! - Horrible experience. The phone number is even disconnected. Dirty and gross. Stay away!! Stay far far away!!!
- micahm832 (2/5): A Bad Experience - I was desperate after arriving in Fairfax around 1:30 am and they were near to my destination of the next morning. I also thought they had promised a lower rate over the phone compared to when I got there. But, maybe I heard wrong b/c I was tired. I woke up several times during the night as the bed was very uncomfortable. The room looked like it had not been redone in about 30-40 years. The shower faucet was really bad. There was paint cracking off the wall in the bathroom. Very few choices on the TV. In my life, I have only stayed at one or two comparative places when really desperate. Good thing my family was not with me on this trip. Also, breakfast starts at 7 am. I checked out at 6:55 and asked where breakfast was, figuring I'd grab something on my way out. They told me to relax and wait. I was not going to waste my time & just checked out and picked up breakfast on my way.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - No hot water because pipes busted! No other options to take shower!!
- Verified traveler (2/5): terrible condition beds, bath, lenins, carpets. - Bathroom window without blind. noisy, 1 floor motel. Shady at best. Dangerously out of sight.
- Mitch (8/5): Good location , friendly staff. - We switched rooms and upgraded to a 2 bed instead of 1. The 1st room was a little rough around the edges but the 2nd room was nice. Price was great and location to Washington DC was great. Thanks.
- Michael (8/5): Worth the price - It was fine for the price
- Mary (6/5): Poor internet - The room was clean and fresh. The bathroom could use some refurbishing and the water pressure was low. The internet service was really poor and slow. A good place for sleeping and going but not working.
- Matthew (6/5): Bathroom needs an update - The beds were okay, but the bathroom is pretty gross. The bathroom totally needs to be redone. The door is falling apart, the sink handles are nasty, and the shower is
just gross. It feels very dirty walking in there. I'd rather spend a little extra at Comfort Inn to gain the feeling of being comfortable of being in the bathroom.
- 518missyd (4/5): Questionable - Our bathroom had red smear marks on walls, bathroom window had been replaced but glass was everywhere.. Pizza delivery would not drive around to room had to meet in front. The front door had enough space at frame and door, light shines through.. Not a peaceful night
- Mark (6/5): Good inn, great location - The former Anchorage Inn has been renamed Lee High Inn. The large ships steering wheel is gone, but the porthole windows remain! Rooms are 1950s, too small for the beds and other furniture. Get a room in the far back, they are quieter. The historic Lee Highway (the national highway about as old as Route 66) is out front, busy noisy in Fairfax City.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Better than expected. - Cleaner and more comfortable than I expected. Based on my experience, other reviews were overly harsh.
- Brittany_11_10 (4/5): Comically lame - Having stayed in some pretty lame places around the world, it takes a lot of faze me now when it comes to bad accommodations. That's why Lee High Inn just sort of made me laugh--until it made me fear I was going to wake up with some kind of rash or disease or something that I'd unwittingly contracted in the night.
The woman who checked me in was friendly, and the dude who checked me out the next day was fine. No issues there.
"Breakfast" included packaged crackers, granola bars, and the like, so... perhaps don't plan to get a solid breakfast out of the deal.
As for the room itself, considering Lee High Inn is the lowest-priced place in the area, I wasn't expecting much. And, hey, not much is exactly what I got. Things worked (the fridge, the microwave, the lights, the water, the TV), but I'm pretty sure the bed, chair, and bathroom fixtures were from the late 1800s. Nothing to get worked up about, but don't expect to be impressed. Don't even expect the glass in the photo frames to be flawless, as one in my room was cracked all the way down the middle.
Finally, while I didn't end up having any issues with unwanted critters, I felt really certain I would from the moment I got in bed until the time I fell asleep. It just seemed fitting for the room and the setting, but alas, I woke up without any rashes or bites or diseases.
- Yvonne (4/5): Old - Old motel with no obvious updates to decor. Carpet was slightly dirty and there were dead bugs in the windows. However the beds were comfortable and it was quiet.
- Michael (4/5): Not so good - No hot water, toilet didn't work and the bed broke. The room smells bad
- David Snyder (2/5): Do not recommend - The internet never worked, the room wasn't clean, the folks there were not willing to refund our room even though we checked our several days early
- Richard (2/5): - This was easily the worst hotel experience of my life. Easily. Had it not been for my ability to use the toilet, I would have been far better off sleeping in my car. It was a nightmare. My expectations, given that it was $60 a night, were low to begin with. But, they could have paid me $60 a night and it would still have been a nightmare. The place is a complete dump, in desperate need of TOTAL renovation (or probably total demolition). My shower did not work, so I had to "bathe" with the water coming out of the tub faucet. There was a large dead bug in my bathroom. The walls were so thin that I was kept up all night from the folks next door, and they were merely having a normal conversation. The rooms/furniture/bathroom fixtures, including the non-working shower, are all badly outdated. The "final straw" is that someone tried to break-in to my room at 1 AM. I was thrilled to get in my car and leave the next morning, just so I could put that nightmare experience behind me. I did not ask for a refund only because I just wanted to get out of there as fast as I could
- Fessehaie (2/5): - Very poor service, disorganized, not clean. Unsafe electrical wires. Compact room and uncomfortable. Very small and old bathroom. Will never stay in that hotel even for free.
- O (2/5): Disgusting even for a dive motel!!!!!! - DO NOT STAY HERE! The first room we were given had black mold covering the bathroom ceiling, the mini fridge was not cleaned and had someone's leftovers in it. The walls were dirty. We requested a change of rooms. The second room was also dirty, walls with dirt on them, bathroom did not appear to be cleaned, no hot water, and we found pubic hair in 2 of the 3 beds. We only stayed 1 night (booked for 2 nights) because every hotel in the area was booked. The next morning we went to the front desk and told them we were not staying a second night because it was so dirty and asked for a refund of the 2nd night. The motel has "NO REFUNDS" posted around the office. The employee at the front desk said he would have to call the owner, only after we went back and forth for 20 minutes and then threatened to call the health department. We noticed that the owner's phone number was posted in the wall behind the desk. We called the owner directly, he answered and we explained our situation, and he said there are no refunds and hung up on us. We contacted Expedia, who then contacted the motel as well. We eventually left due to an appointment we had to be at. Finally, 5 hours later we received a call from the motel stating that they would give us a full refund. This place should not be open! And it is very disappointing that Expedia would even have this place on their website!!!! Expedia should be ashamed to even recommend a motel like this!!!!
- Anonymous (2/5): Danger do not seek - It was near where I needed to be and was cheap but my room had bed bugs. Do not recommend to anyone!!
- Igor (2/5): night with bedbugs -- NEVER GO THERE - Filthy, outdated, bedbugs. WiFi didn't work, but who cares. This hotel must be removed from the HOTELS.COM. I made a big mistake when booked this hotel
- Verified traveler (6/5): What you expect - This hotel is exactly what you would expect for two stars. It is on the lower end of the pricing scale and with that comes as expected what type of room you get. It is comfortable and located perfectly where I need to be for work so I have gone repeatedly to this hotel and will continue to do so as long as the other 4 star are overpriced at the time.
- Darryl (2/5): Worst Stay Ever - The room is up an ally toward the main building. Wiring is all over the place. I go inside check the bathroom. Rust in the tub, carpet dirty, open the frig it is caked with ice never defrosted. I look around there are electrical wires that are spliced together, wires are exposed. Electrical lights plugged into other desk lamps for electricity. I stayed the night and yet they have bed bugs my left wrist was bitten 4 times. I took everything to be cleaned that I brought into the room.
I call Travelocity the next morning and cancelled the next day stay and to get a refund for the previous night. this occurred on may 16 it is may 24 still no refund. They have told them yes, next I didn't show, next it no refund policy, next to now no one is talking to me including Travelocity.
I'm reporting the hotel to the Health Department of Fairfax, VA, City Builders and Electrical of Fairfax, VA no one should not spend money to be put in harms way.
T
- Stevan (4/5): - It was horrible.
- hexman76 (2/5): Crappy Hotel "Stay away" - Low to no wifi and no hot water.! Beds uncomfortable and barely any plugs.! Some might think oh how rustic, but there is a difference between rustic and garbage and this is definitely not a rustic hotel.!! Workers can barley speak English and are not much of a help but are still very nice people, it's just hard to communicate and hard to get help from anyone.!
- Verified traveler (4/5): Quiet and convenient was lacking - Room was quiet and had most of the basics. Liked the refrigerator & microwave. Here are the problems: the phone didn't work; I had to ask for a remote for the TV; the fixtures in the bathroom sink were in terrible shape; the wi-fi didn't work for a day and a half; and the so-called breakfast was a joke.
Last time in Fairfax I stayed at the Rodeway Inn up the road and that was a better choice.
- 857russh (4/5): Lack of Attention to detail - The front desk staff is very friendly and helpful. The rates are below average and I was traveling solo so I thought I'd try it. Location is fine near Housekeeping and maintenance is below average. The day I checked in the room had a dirty tee shirt behind a chair that was out of position and a spilled liquid oozing from under the microwave. I threw out the tee and used a towel to soak up the liquid. Figured everyone has a bad day. The next evening I returned to an un serviced room, I asked at the desk and they told me it should have been done. Recall my
Towels were used to clean the room the previous night. They do have a refrigerator and microwave. The cable hook up prevent closure of the closet and the in room phone was not serviceable. Could be a great place if the managers paid attention to details that customers expect.
- River Rat (2/5): Convenient but not again - We chose this property for its proximity to the residence of the friend we visited in Fairfax. This was a mistake. The room was dirty, the bathroom especially so. While the staff was friendly and complied immediately with our request to change from the first room due to the air conditioning not working, the second room was dirty. Both rooms were overfilled with furniture that made avoiding sharp corners when moving around a necessity.
- lindarI4284VI (2/5): Disappointed - I checked in with no problem. Went to take a shower and no hot water. Talked to front desk and they upgraded the room (not for the better). More space but the bathroom door was broken, the toilet was so close to the wall you had to sit sideways, the one TV only got one channel, the tub was not clean (cleaned it before taking a shower), and no still no hot water! The next morning talked to the front desk about the issues and got, "sorry for your inconvenience". Asked for a reduction in the cost and was met with, "oh, you want to stay another day?" Was so upset said ,"hell no!" Don't expect much from this establishment cause you won't get it.
- Robert (2/5): Junk.....Junky running the hole. - 2nd worst place I've stayed in the past 2 months.
- Michael (2/5): Hotel is 100% Wheelchair Inaccessible - I am a mobility impaired college student looking forward to being able to stay at the small business instead of a major national chain hotel. I booked about 2 weeks ahead of time, and made my ADA Accomidations known at the time of my booking.
I arrive and the person who brought me pulled into the marked handicap spot (the absolute only one on property), got my wheelchair going, and we made our way to the lobby. There was a step barrier! So the person I was with went in and checked me in, then proceeded to take me to my room. Again, another step barrier! I had to be lifted into the room.
The room is absolutely NOT set up for the mobility impaired. The bathroom door has a narrow door that I had to crawl through and no grab bars for the toilet nor a roll in shower.
I would later find out that management simply didn't care about my needs (I would hazard a guess that they would claim ignorance of the Americans with Disabilities Act).
DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL!!!
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Overall very poor service and not recommended.
1 No internal phone to call if you need anything
2 old TV
3 no bath tub
- Verified traveler (2/5): Don't do it! - The whole front row of rooms was said to have no hot water by the desk representative. The room I was put in had a heater that blew cold air. The temperature plummeted to 25 degrees that night. I could also hear the TV from the next room while trying to sleep at 1:30AM.
- mourad (2/5): - no hot water no wifi bad customer service the housekeeping was noking the door at 10:00 am the bathrom was durty and no shower because of tgere is no hot water along 3 days
- Jennifer Sayre (2/5): Horrible, don't stay here! - Hot water doesn't work, no smoke detector in room, dirty, outdated, no amenities offered, staff is grumpy.
- Anonimus (4/5): - I book up late and I realized that was no hot water in my room. I was to tired to go back and change the room.
- Adam (2/5): Beware - Awful room, stank of cigarette smoke, no hot hot water, no working wifi, road noise was very loud. Definitely needs updating
- Shannon (6/5): Worth $75 compared to most hotels costing $100-150 - The room was exactly what I expected for $75. It was clean and got me out of the weather.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - no breakfast when said there was breakfast and the beds where alittle old the pillow need better pillow
- Poindexter (2/5): - it was snot good had to be moved to another room due to not hot water or wi fi working, next room tv and wi fi still not working bed uncomfcortable
- Andy (6/5): - Very good deal, but the price reflects the quality of room. For one night is ok, but if you plan to stay more, ether find another hotel.
- Mechan1984 (2/5): An inconvenience - Booked a month in advance. Thought it was a hotel, ended up being a motel. That was my own fault.
Upon arriving, (after the man at the counter ignored me for 15 minutes on the phone ) I am told that they do not have the room available that I booked in non smoking and to get a nonsmoking room I would have to upgrade and pay more. At first I agreed , just wanting to settle in. But, was told phone calls needed to be made. (No idea why) I sat down for another 30 minutes while this man made a call. I asked if I could just leave my car for a little bit to go walk around and find food , again I was asked to wait. After another 15 minutes I gave up and left. After I drove around and found another hotel I got a phone call saying my room was ready. I had to have my travel company call and get a refund.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The bathroom is below standard. The breakfast was horrible. The hotel location is excellent. The hotel will attract a lot of customers if the management could spend some money for upgrading.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Not clean, smell bad. Our room had a big spider. The breakfast was cheap, I tried the organge but it was old.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice close to everything, gas food high ways etc. - Can't say much cause I didn't stay much but it was good
- Carla (6/5): - Not bad but cheap
- Gail (2/5): - The hotel was run down. Physical security was inadequate. The bathroom had mold on the walls and shower curtain. There was not hot water.
- O8158UBjimg (2/5): Last remodelled in 1950. - This once proud motel on the hill is just waiting for the wrecking ball these days. And it may not need one if it keeps falling apart. Don't bee fooled by the ancient pictures they post.
I ended up in this place because my flight was delayed and I arrived late in the evening. There were few options left. My chosen hotel was full, and I had to scramble to find a vacancy. This one had LOTS of vacancies, with good reason.
Its cheap, but not cheap enough. Nothing has been repaired in decades. There was a frig and microwave the room, but there's no way I'd put food in them. Room lighting consisted of big fluorescent fixtures on the wall. A/C in the lobby didn't work. In the room, I needed to prop a luggage rack against the drapes to keep the air from blowing behind them. Everything old and older. The mattress sank so badly in the middle that it was hard to get to sleep - more like a hammock than a bed. I don't even want to think about all the dirt and germs it harbors.
I asked if I could check out an hour late, because my partner had to conduct business in the morning and needed the car. The answer was "no" because they were supposedly so busy that by 9AM they had already turned away two people seeking my room. I doubt that VERY much - there was one car in the lot. So I had to spend the morning in a MacDonald's half a mile away.
In short, its a dump with inhospitable management. It should be condemned.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great Value. Clean room. Nice and quiet - Good value. Nice and private for an afternoon of fun with my girlfriend
- Timothy (6/5): Descent for Price Ctomer Service needs improvement - Enjoyed my stay I booked 2 nights on Hotels.com and stayed an additional 3 nights. Payed daily, when I payed for the 5th and final night the Front desk clerk did not inform me that the Hotel had experienced a Ruptured water line during the day. I had no water pressure, and when I say no water pressure it took 45 minutes to fill the water tank for the toilet. Indecently I was unable to shower before I checked out and embarked on a 3 day train trip across country. They should have made me aware of the situation, and afforded me the opportunity to make other accommodations.
- Vanessa (4/5): - I guess the weather was so hot because the ceiling in the bathroom was drenched in water i was afraid to take a hot shower. There was a big spider in the tub, and the tub was dirty so it wasnt going to happen anyway
- Verified traveler (4/5): Too many bugs 2 count - Very old...seems to never been updated.
Door opens by itself.
