- Thomas (9/5): Nice alternate to Aspen - We had a room overlooking the river. Very relaxing. The room was nicer than the pictures. How often does that happen? Breakfast was very poor. Hardly worth the effort.

- Marilyn (8/5): - We have stayed at the Aspenalt during Thanksgiving for many years. The rooms on the riverside are wonderful and we always enjoy our stay. In this room, the very solid bed closest to the bathroom protrudes into the area exiting the bathroom. In the dark, my husband hit the base of the bed with his foot while exiting the bathroom, jamming his toe quite severely. Seems a bit of a room design flaw!

- Paul (4/5): Loud construction. Be wary of building B! - I was put in unit 118 of building B. This happens to be right next to a major construction project. It was super loud early in the morning and late into the evening. Couldn't have been a worse room location. Also, the construction crew were using parking spots and put two of their trucks right in front of my room, smoking cigs and talking loudly. There are two other buildings, so I'd highly recommend you request those. These rooms should be heavily discounted or not used at all. The room was $185 for one very uncomfortable night.

- gghiggins7 (9/5): - Aspenalt Lodge met our expectations and is precisely what they advertise. The room was comfortable, staff were kind, and breakfast was sufficient. :-) Location was perfect - a nice little stroll to many restaurants, and a short drive to Maroon Bells, Aspen and Snowmass.

Accès facile dans Basalt et tarif plus sympa qu’à Aspen qui est accessible en 25 minutes de voiture ou en bus (dont l’arrêt est à 5 minutes à pieds.). Chambre calme. Lits confortables. Balcon commun devant l’appartement avec chaises à disposition.
- Michael (8/5): Basalt Lodge - The lodge and the area of Basalt are very nice. I was only there for 1 quick night (up early) but it had all that I had wanted and is in a great area. A little unsure about parking and where the lobby was when I first arrived but no big deal once you look around. Was very happy w/ my limited stay and was wishing I had booked more than the 1 night.

- Theresa (9/5): Charming riverfront property in the heart of downtown. - My husband and I have stayed at this hotel several times over the years. The location is excellent-right downtown within walking distance to restaurants and shopping, and fronting the river. It had been updated since our last stay. Nice bed and bedding, fluffy white bath towels, and the soundproof windows were appreciated. The beauty of this property is its right on the river. Book a ground floor room (we were in building A).Each room has a bistro set out side. There is a lush green lawn area with picnic tables and benches to enjoy the rushing river. This is not the hotels fault, but Basalt is booming-that means construction! There is a massive retail/residential building going up in the area that fronts the hotel. We stayed on a Sunday and Monday night, so not much construction happening until Tuesday morning when we were checking out. Also, the restaurant The Tipsy Trout is adjacent, and on Monday morning, all the service trucks arrive-garbage truck, 2 separate truck’s servicing the bathrooms, and food delivery trucks. Very loud in the morning!

- Karen (10/5): A perfect place to relax! - It was a lovely hotel, and our room was terrific. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. Our room overlooked the river and we loved sitting on the deck, enjoying the view and sound of the water. The location was great - everything we needed was within walking distance. We also highly recommend The Tipsy Trout for lunch or dinner, and it's right next door!

- Verified traveler (10/5): Great stay - definitely recommend - We had a great stay at the ASPENALT! The room is a bit dated but exceptionally clean and a fantastic location, walking distance to everything in town. Complimentary breakfast was a bonus. Would definitely stay here again!

Also, there was a ceiling fan in the room that did not work. There was a remote for it (unlabeled), but it didn't function. It would have been nice on a warm night. Third thing, the (incorrect) clock on the microwave had a bright blue light that I had to cover up.

- Peter (5/5): Construction zone - Nothing. Breakfast was very poor. Its car park was a construction zone- filthy. Next door they were building an apartment block ! At 7.30 am it was in full swing, saws, hammers and the noise of large tractor trailers. Noisy filthy dusty. Our bathroom was dark due to a security fence 6 inches from the window.
- Greg (10/5): - If you dont need AC, and a ceiling fan will do, you can be right on the Frying Pan River! You can sit at table & chairs outside your room and enjoy your coffee, or go right down to the river and sit on benches or go wading! Other buildings in the complex do have AC. There's also a riverside restaurant next door, a bus stop for a nice bus to either Aspen or Glenwood, and a walkable old town Basalt. Loved it here!

We enjoyed a short walk on the path near the river. The beds were comfortable and the room was quiet and clean The price seems a little high, but that is probably normal for this area in Colorado. Construction next door makes it a little difficult to get through but that is not the fault of the hotel.

Reality is there are 3 buildings that make up property and we were in the one building located in the strip mall parking next to construction site, as of June 2025. We were disappointed not to be next to river. Bed was old, creaky and uncomfortable.

Room cleaned daily and parking was originally a concern since right next to the restaurants & shops but ended up being a non-concern. Nice healthy continental breakfast as well.
- Julia (7/5): Overall I recommend since you were in walking distance from shops and restaurants. - The setting was gorgeous as our room faced the back of the property with the river right there and they have a few benches on the grass if you want to sit by river or you can sit right outside you room which has small table and two chairs. No air conditioning but they had a ceiling fan. Hate sleeping with windows open since I feel exposed but had no choice. It was warm much of the night but by morning it cooled down.

- Ryan (8/5): - We stayed in building "B", and I am leaving this review to share a funny (and somewhat problematic) story. I think there have been some fairly recent updates, including some new ceiling fans. Long story short- the fans have RF remotes, and at least some of them are sharing a frequency. I woke up at 1am- my fan was off, and the light was on. In fixing it- with my remote, I am pretty sure that I also toggled one of my neighbors lights on, and reset his fan. And so the battle of the fans began. In retrospect, it's humorous- not so much when you're trying to get to sleep in the middle of the night. Hotel is in a great area, rooms were clean and well kept.
