Breakfast was great and the service at all times, from all staff, thru out was the best. The lounge and dinner/breakfast area is set in a lush canopy of trees and shrubs and loved eating and having beers there. Also, several restaurants and bars within very close walking distance. Highly recommend.

Our expectations are met 95% of the time and when something goes wrong, as life isn't perfect, we are always pleased by the effort the team makes to rectify it. We love the leafy green environment with the lively sound of the river. We love the pool, gym and sauna. We might try a massage one day, but these three are sufficient for our active lifestyle. We love breakfast. An orchard of fruit, tons of delicious, fluffy pastries. Shout out to Chef Mohammed. Chef, hope you'll try the Greek pastries we talked about. Just one thing: the apartment block is cold! Palacina, get some heaters in there. We are not all trying to get AC in May-June weather :)

Nine years later, returning for a short visit I found that comforting familiarity I had missed. Many of the staff who I knew by name, were still present. They greeted me as if I'd only been away for a period of weeks, indicative of what I'd always believed, that if you keep the staff content, the guests are the beneficiaries. In the bustle of a fast paced growing city, the Palacina provides that quiet corner of solace where frenetic agendas dissipate at the gate and one moves into a slower more contemplative mode.

We arrived late and they said “We notice you requested a room with a bath in your special requests on your reservation - would you like a free upgrade to the penthouse suite?” We were floored and found ourselves in a gorgeous big apartment. They also thoughtfully left us sandwiches as we got in after the restaurant was closed. There were also bottled water and cookies for us to share. They also carried our luggage up the stairs and gave us a personal tour of the property. And the prices are very reasonable. The neighborhood is tranquil and pretty. Glad to stay again if we return to Kenya someday.

We are an US-based organization expanding our programming globally, and this was our first time bringing our program to Africa. In searching for a venue, we were hoping to find a place that felt both highly professional and deeply peaceful — and Palacina turned out to be a beautiful oasis unlike anything else we encountered in Nairobi. The property offers a rare balance of calm, greenery, and thoughtful design while still being capable of helping us to host a complex, high-level event. Staff Responsiveness & Adaptability From the moment we arrived, every request was met with warmth, joy, and a genuine willingness to help. We came with very detailed and specific needs, and despite this being our first time working together, the Palacina team embraced those requests with enthusiasm. They were consistently responsive to feedback, quick to implement adjustments, and remarkably flexible in accommodating non-standard event setups, unique room configurations, and last-minute changes. Venue Capabilities Palacina proved to be an ideal location for a multi-day program hosting 50+ participants across a variety of formats — larger plenary sessions, breakout groups, one-on-one meetings, and intimate gatherings. The property layout offers diverse and versatile spaces, from executive lounges, conference room, and the onsite restaurant to relaxed areas by the fireplace and poolside. Our schedule required frequent room resets, shifting group sizes, and evolving timelines, and the team handled it all smoothly and professionally. The variety of spaces allowed us to create both formal and relational moments without ever feeling constrained. Food & Beverage Excellence The food and beverage experience was outstanding throughout our stay. Meals were beautifully prepared and consistently delicious, and the family-style dining created an atmosphere that felt both intimate and exclusive. The team managed dietary requirements with care and precision — including gluten-free and dairy-free needs — and delivered equally excellent service for both casual meals and formal dinners. The quality and presentation remained high across every meal, which made a meaningful difference for a group gathered for long working days. Operational Support Behind the scenes, the operational support was impressive. The team handled complex rooming assignments to the best of their ability, frequent changes, and special accommodation needs with patience and efficiency. What could easily have become stressful instead felt organized, calm, and well-coordinated. -- While our overall experience was overwhelmingly positive, we would offer two pieces of constructive feedback in the spirit of appreciation and partnership: Digital / Time-Sensitive Responsiveness In-person responsiveness from the staff was excellent. At times, however, digital communication during the planning phase (email and messaging) could be slower than expected, particularly when timing was important for international coordination across time zones. Faster turnaround on digital correspondence would make the experience even smoother for global groups. Physical Accessibility of the Property Palacina is a beautiful and serene property, but certain areas may present challenges for guests with limited mobility. Continued improvements to physical accessibility — such as ramps, clearer pathways, or easier navigation between spaces — would make this already wonderful venue more inclusive for all guests. All in all, we had a wonderful time! Perhaps the most meaningful part of our experience was the sense of friendship. During our stay, a member of the Palacina staff shared that hosting our group had become a “core memory” for their staff — and we can sincerely say the same. Our time at Palacina has become a core memory for our organization as well.

I would recommend it for longer stays as the rooms are quite spacious, come with a kitchen corner, and guest ms have access to both outdoor and indoor pool (with the indoor one of a quite remarkable size) It is maybe a tad impersonal, so if your are looking for colonial flair the place isn’t probably for you.

The atmosphere is calm and peaceful, which made it easy to relax. We felt taken care of and the room itself was so lovely - as was the indoor swimming pool which helped us keep the baby awake until bed time. We forgot our pram behind reception when we left and they held onto it until we got back from Nairobi. I can no recommend this accommodation more highly! Nothing

The Palacina is a beautiful lush oasis away from the bustle of Nairobi. The kitchen and server staff provide fresh coffee per request and excellent omlettes. Our suite with 2 bedrooms was decadent and clean. Incredible experience. Wish we had more time to use the pools.

They arranged all my transfers and local transportation seamlessly, and also stored my luggage while I travelled – a small thing that made a huge difference to my trip. The facilities are outstanding: a well-equipped gym, a beautiful outdoor pool, a sauna and an indoor lap pool. The rooms are spacious and quiet, and the overall atmosphere is calm and welcoming. A reliable, comfortable and professionally run hotel – highly recommended.

Hotel feels cozy and is situated in a quiet area of the city. Would highly recommend the Palacina for a stay in Nairobi. Be aware that rooms right above the kitchen are prone to kitchen noise and smells, and not all rooms have air conditioning.

- mtroner (8/5): Lovely Hotel - This is a lovely hotel in a very nice residential area. It is close to the downtown area, but blessedly quiet. I only heard a dog barking. Once. The rooms are huge and immaculately clean. The decorations are charming. The gift shop has some excellent items available at reasonable prices. The breakfast are excellent, and you just asked the chef what he has available and it seems he can pretty much do anything French toast, pancakes, omelettes, eggs of any type. The coffee is excellent. Dinners are OK. My butter chicken the first night was excellent, but my barbecue chicken the next night was a bit of the dry side. Everyone of course, is exceedingly pleasant and very helpful. As a gracefully aging person I would appreciate an elevator on my trips up to the third floor, but that doesn’t appear to be the case. I planned accordingly and managed. this is certainly an excellent hotel and we enjoyed our stay after our 18 hour flights to get to Nairobi from the States.

As a travel guide, our reputation is always on the line with who we choose to partner with and I never have to worry when booking guests into The Palacina. The staff are absolutely wonderful, the accommodations are beautiful, the gardens and property are breathtaking and the onsite Bistro is such a fantastic option. The location is perfect if needing a place to rest up for a night or two before heading out on safari, as it is only about 4 miles from Wilson Airport.

My daughter couldn’t stop smiling, and we both agreed we’ll definitely be back. Palacina is one of those places that leaves you happy long after you’ve left. Highly recommend!

It’s a great hotel, very friendly and the staff are very helpful. A good breakfast and also great meals on an evening. The rooms are a great size and clean although some things were a little tired, like plugs hanging out the wall, very noisy air conditioning that then wouldn’t work. Otherwise a great place to stay.

Each and every one of the staff we encountered was friendly, efficient and accommodating, especially Sampson at the reception desk. The hotel’s on-site safari company, Tour Africa Safaris, booked a custom safari for us that was even beyond what we had hoped for. The hotel director, Mohammed Altaf went above and beyond to make sure we had the best experience possible. The hotel Palacina is highly recommended!

This place is absolutely beautiful safe clean oasis in the very big city of Nairobi. The staff couldn’t have been nicer and accommodating with smiles and handshakes and a welcome back. My friends and I felt safe and appreciated every step of the way. I’d like to call out Samson who met us at 12:30 am after 24 hours of flying with a smile and help with our bags. He also helped us work out of a few issues.issues we had within minutes of us having them so good for him. We also want to thank Mohammed, who runs the travel agency and hotel as he bent over backwards to put together a five day safari for us with a 24 hour notice. Our trip was spectacular because of Muhammad and his team’s support. Five stars is not enough to rate our experience at the Palancia Hotel.

The stay was pleasant, but I did find the lack of charging facilities a bit inconvenient, having only one option makes it tricky, especially nowadays when we travel with multiple devices. It might be a great idea to consider an upgrade for the rooms in the future. Air-conditioning would also be a welcome addition, as it would help with air circulation during the night and make sleep more comfortable. It’s a lovely place, but I’m not sure if it fully suits my needs anymore. I truly appreciate the effort put into it, though, and I’m sure many guests will continue to enjoy their stay.

Being so close to the centre of Nairobi (and never having gone to Africa before) we didn't quite know what to expect. Upon arriving at the hotel it was clear that this was going to be a lovely stay. The staff were all so welcoming and friendly, special shout out to Sampson who helped us with our bags and with any questions we had! The first morning we were going on an early morning game drive at the Nairobi national park. We would have been too early for breakfast but the team opened up the service a whole hour earlier so we were able to eat before we left the hotel. Our room was incredibly spacious, we had a bottle of prosecco and roses on the bed for our honeymoon which was a lovely touch! Anyone staying in Nairobi I would highly recommend this hotel. Very safe and lovely staff!

The rooms are well appointed, but a little dated, and include a separate siting area and a nice balcony to sit and look out of the lovely garden. The staff are all super friendly and we found the food lovely. I would happily recommend staying at the Palcina if you are in Nairobi.

It’s just a tranquil oasis with incredibly friendly staff, amazing food (we’re vegetarians), and astonishingly spacious comfortable rooms. We had a huge balcony which overlooked beautiful trees and were woken up by bird song every morning. The facilities are great - swimming pool, health club, etc. But it is the staff that make us feel so welcome and at home… Samson at reception was especially thoughtful and engaging and I had great conversations with driver David.

- Agnes (6/5): Nice hotel but urgently needs mordernization - Nice location. Pleasant staff. Facility is ageing. We were initially booked in to a ground floor apartment that was dark, cold, bathroom door leaking, hot water in bathroom didn't work unless you first turned on the hot water in the sink, room was facing a stone wall with electric barbed wire which made it feel like a prison. Internet also didn't work. Thankfully we were moved to a better room with much better views, renovated bathroom and good internet. The gym was nice back in the day, the machines are now quite old, and the ellipticals have been glued back together which makes it difficult to get a good workout. The meals are also OK but not great. Menu needs to be modernised especially as there is so much competition nowadays. All in all this is a good hotel today. It can be great again once it goes through renovations, upgrades and revamp of the restaurant menu.

We also had a living room and balcony overlooking a lush garden. The restaurant is nicely appointed but lacks a bit for lunch and dinner, however the breakfast is quite good with so many fresh fruits and made to order omelets. Very nice and safe location.

Everything from the big, fluffy white towels and crisp, clean white sheets to the wide array of tasty food they served for breakfast, everything was wonderful! The property was beautiful! I forgot I was in the middle of a busy city and felt like I was in a small oasis surrounded by the lush palm trees and vibrant landscaping. Every single staff member we came across was exceedingly kind and went out of their way to help however they could. They all welcomed us each day with a wide smile and a kind word. The amenities such as the pool and the fitness center were well kept and had everything we needed. We were able to utilize the small kitchen and the nearby grocery store to supplement some of our meals during our stay. I highly recommend this place! You won’t be disappointed! Choose Palacina and feel the sweet Kenyan hospitality!
