Guest Reviews
- Hugh (7/5): Very enjoyable - Good company
- William (8/5): Good value - I know this hotel and have stayed here many times over the past 15 years. It is cheap and cheerful and it's location near my office and the park is ideal. It has new owners and the staff were very pleasant and my meal was exactly how I like it. Room was clean and facilities good (iron, dryer toiletries etc) The new owners have updated the bar area etc, but not the rooms. This is ok in this price range, and expected. However whilst the avacado suite might be considered retro now (and was functional), the mould on the ensuite ceiling should be addressed (a simple fix to connect the extractor to the light switch).
- Laura (6/5): One staff member when checking in, and no staff members when checking out. Bed was ok but the room had broken plug socke - Good location and the room was ok for 1 night There was a broken plug socket, with not many other sockets in the room, the bathroom window was constantly open as broken and the was no staff around
- Gary (4/5): Crap - Location No hot water to shower, toilet didn't flush, curtains didn't close, bed was awful and super squeaky. Loud part till gone 12.00am
- Amy (10/5): Thank you all for an amazing stay! - The staff were fantastic, the room was quiet , warm and we had a great sleep! Sadie especially was wonderful and brought up the clothes the staff had kindly been able to dry for us after being out in the heavy rain!
Honestly we felt so welcome and at home here and hope to be back again for sure! Nothing honestly, for the price we paid we were so so happy and comfortable here.
- derek (7/5): - The staff were excellent, the location perfect, beautiful building. The heating wasn't great and the bathroom needs refreshed
- Kevin (8/5): Convenient location for us to stay. - Very convenient for us. Staff member that we met was friendly. Our room was quite shabby, especially the bathroom.
- Singh (10/5): - I loved the location as near town and family, the staff are lovely especially housekeeper lady (dont know her name)easy check in and lovely bar The bathroom in rm 103 is really.cold as window does not close properly, needs fixed, and would also suggest updating bathroom suite to nice white ones
- MARK (7/5): Good accommodation in nice area - Friendly staff. New owners were very accommodating Bar was noisy until after 1.30am and we had room above
- Robert (4/5): Tired and cold, the hotel that is not me. - Got in an hour earlier than expected. Heating not on upon arrival, glass bins outside emptied at 6.30 in the morning. Very tired decor and bathroom suite was from a previous generation. Disappointing overall.
- alan aberdeen (5/5): - The food was first class We were unlucky , a nice room with s walk in shower( after asking for a change of room) but the bed was horrible. An old spring mattress.
- Sabina (4/5): - Personal war freundlich Zimmer roch nach Schimmel und lufterfrischern
- thomas (3/5): Terrible, absolutely terrible - Nothing it was filthy. The carpets in the hall and bedroom were filthy, there was dirt on the walls.
The bathroom door was catching on the floor, there was no warm water in the morning for a shower, breakfast on a Saturday is not until 9 o’clock.
I will never stay there again. Everything
- Kristian (6/5): - Location Shower not warm enough
- Alexander (8/5): Pleasant - Good sized room with very comfortable bed and no disturbance from outside! The lighting in both the room and the en-suite needs to be improved!
- Karen (2/5): Never Again - Location to park for dog walks Room dated and was frozen bathroom window couldnt close and no heating been switched on. Bed was so uncomfortable and noisy and pillows so flat. No staff around in morning as hotel doesn't open til 4pm. No water bowl for dog. Had to go looking for someone to check on amd get key.
- Ana (9/5): -
- Cassandra (7/5): Clean cozy central location with parking - Warm, clean and central location. Lovely staff in the end who let us check in early. Free of street parking
- Raffaella (7/5): - Struttura accogliente e pulita. Parcheggio in strada vicino all'hotel. Nella struttura c'è un pub dov'è possibile bere, mangiare ed ascoltare musica dal vivo Nulla

- Raphaela (1/5): I’d recommend not booking - I’d recommend not booking Room smelled like mold. Mold could be seen on the walls as well as years old water stains. We had a room on the second floor, and all the way up it already smelled like the whole building was moldy. Upon entering said room we nearly threw up at the smell. Opening the window also was not possible as the blinds were blocking the window. The small bit we could open the window wasn’t enough to let fresh air in the room. The promised “high standarts” are nowhere to be found. Bathroom was dirty as well, flush didn’t work properly, the springs of the mattress were broken. Even with the low price one could expect a much better value for that money! Id give zero points if possible. We only stayed for the night because we knew we leave early in the morning.
As for the (bar) staff: they seemed friendly, but we hadn’t had a chance to talk. Only Puls side was the location and the car park, which was free.
We did not eat at the restaurant, it seemed nice though
- leonard (8/5): -
- Jen R (8/5): - Staff very friendly, room clean, parking easy right outside
- GillyB (6/5): Great value for an overnight stop, but expected it to be nicer. - Used as an overnight stop before getting the ferry to Shetland. It was a two minute drive to the port, had secure parking and was cheap. Bed was comfortable. Restaurant onsite so didn’t have to hunt for somewhere else after a long drive. Manager/waiter in restaurant really friendly and apologetic and found a dessert (see below). Decor changed a lot since their ‘4 in a bed’ win and looks like it needs a refresh ,still have avocado suites. The room allocated was tiny, shower/toilet cupboard in one corner and a double bed against one wall, which to me makes it a single. On this occasion I was travelling with a broken wrist, so climbing over my husband was not happening. We were able to move a cabinet and moved the bed out (did not think to complain!). We had booked an evening meal, the food was nice but we were the only ones in it and the kitchen was closed before we’d ordered desert. There was a function going on and it felt like we had been forgotten about.
- Peter (9/5): -
- M Carmen (4/5): Alojamiento malo - Poder aparcar el coche El tamaño de la habitación. Sin toallas para los dos. La WiFi no llega a la habitación. Las almohadas duras
- Danielle (8/5): -
- Martin (8/5): No breakfast - Managed to get a good quality evening meal but was unable to get breakfast as I hadn't booked in advance something that I was unaware I had to do, other than that no issues.
- Scott (3/5): A place to stay - The room was ok, though it looked like there was some rain damage on the ceiling I asked to get breakfast included with my stay, but the staff said it would be a bit of a hassle to make for one person.
I was pretty disappointed by this.
- James (2/5): - Staff friendly but the place is old and tried. The name of the hotel above the door is missing letters.
- Martina (7/5): Pulizia ok. Rapporto qualità prezzo ok. - Struttura pulita. Parcheggio pubblico gratuito.
Piccolo kit benvenuto con tè e biscotti compreso. Letto un po’ piccolo.
- Michael (10/5): - Not very centrally located but very affordable and nice staff
- Alexa (6/5): Disappointing - Booked an overnight for visiting family in Aberdeen. Staff couldn't have been any nicer and food in the restaurant was lovely however our room was terrible.
We were in a family room on the second floor. The single bed was covered in dog hair. Why charge an additional £10 per night dog fee if you're not actually going to do a deep clean between guests?
The beds creaked every time we moved. Room also had a really funky smell, probably from the dog who had stayed before us. Bathroom suite was extremely dated and the hot tap reminded us of the Peltzer orange machine from Gremlins.
Stairs leading up go the rooms needed a good hoover and there were numerous cob webs across the ceilings, some inhabited.
We'd originally booked for 2 nights but were relieved that we changed it to just one.
Such a shame as it's in a perfect location and has the potential to be fantastic.
- Andrea (7/5): - Geräumiges sauberes Zimmer Möbel in die Jahre gekommen. Kein Frühstücksraum / Frühstück
- Philip (8/5): Clean and cosy room. Thanks for the welcome and help. - Great location and staff
- Elaine (3/5): - Staff member really nice and welcoming Room really tired mattress awful power point broken and falling apart bathroom floor sticky
- Jean-pascal (7/5): Well suited close to Duttie Park. Nice little hôtel. - It was nice good quality for money We could not have breakfast in the morning.
- MHARI (8/5): - The space in the room was amazing The room was to hot, had a fan but did not cool the room down.

- Verified traveler (6/5): Could be better - The staff we did meet were friendly, room overall was clean and location is quiet.
Decour was very dated, the top floor smelled very musty and one of the UHT mils in the room was out of date or off (date was difficult to read) and went lumpy in my tea.
When trying to check out on the last morning there was no-one around and no even a check out box, this was at 7:45 and we had to be on the road, the guest information stated someone would be in at 07:30. I tried to call several times but with no luck.
I ended up leaving the keys behind the bar and leaving a voicemail as there was no other option.
- Karen (6/5): Lack of sleep makes me not want to stay again. - Staff were lovely, friendly, helpful. Not too far from city centre. The noise, there was a party on, which was noisy until well after midnight on the Saturday night. The seagulls were so noisy from crack of dawn. Out dated (but being done out). Bed and pillows not comfy.
- Amy (6/5): Bit of a mixed bag - The Inn at the Park is in a nice location, it's clean and the staff we met were friendly. There is also a dog that is in the bar who is lovely.
Unfortunately the décor is dated and not in the best condition.
One of the milks in the room was off and turned to lumps when I put it in my tea, the room is a family room but the second single was inflatable which we hadn't realised.
It was also impossible to check out, there was no-one around to give the key back, we had to be on the road to drive back and there was no-one to be seen at 7:45am, I even tried calling a few times. In the end we had to leave the key behind the bar.
- Diane (10/5): - Good value. Comfortable. Helpful staff made us very welcome. Good food and reasonably priced. 30 mins walk to beach and also an excellent bus service from and to the hotel. Would stay again.
- Leng (8/5): Very good - Having a fan in the room was a plus. There was animal fur on the chair, and the chair itself was falling apart. No shower mat was provided.
- Christoph (8/5): Very good - Large room with a view, good breakfast. Friendly staff. Room far too warm, window hard to open.
- Claire (8/5): Very friendly hosts in a homely hotel. Good value and comfy beds. Would stay here again. - Very friendly hosts in a homely hotel. Good value and comfy beds. Would stay here again. Décor a bit outdated. Extra charge for a dog, which I don't mind paying but didn't spot
- Kenneth McClymont (10/5): Superb - Everything as described. Clean, comfortable and friendly, helpful staff.
- Shelagh (10/5): Great stay - perfect location after cycling the Deeside Way - Good location & great staff. Nothing - all good
- Anna (8/5): Very good -
- Louise (7/5): Not only a great place to stay for a few nights, it’s easy to find and the staff are 100% dedicated to accommodating our - It’s perfectly between the local park and is easy walking distance to the city centre. The building itself is very clear and welcoming to anyone. The only drawback was the humidity in our room, of course this can’t be helped as it is summer, but the staff were very friendly and nice enough to give us a fan to keep us cool.
- Jane (8/5): - Decor outdated and paint peeling in places, however clean room/bathroom, very nice staff and good price for Saturday night stay
- Thomas (5/5): An adventure! The icing on the cake was the hotel won 4in a bed!!!!!! - The chef came in our morning to prepare breakfast but the second morning a member of staff gave us breakfast as the chef didn’t turn up If one member of staff didn’t have to check us in ,man the bar ,act as waitress and clean the rooms. We were asked if we needed our room looked after today?
This lady was marvelous and was certainly put upon!,,
- Jane (3/5): See above. Dirty, no communication, lack of customer service. Poor condition of bedroom. - The location was fine. I checked in and was not informed at any point that breakfast needed to be pre-booked. My daughter and I went to breakfast at 7:30am and remained in the hotel until 9:00am, during which time no staff were present and no other guests arrived. I tried calling six times by phone but no reply although bedroom brochure implied staff would be available from 7.30am. Upon returning at 9:30pm, I inquired about breakfast for the following morning but was informed it was too late to request anything from the chef.
In addition to the lack of breakfast service and lack of communication of such, the condition of the room was unacceptable. The curtains were hanging off the rails, so wakened early, there were chocolate wrappers and other rubbish under the bed, and the bath plug hole was totally blocked with hair. These issues clearly indicate a lack of proper housekeeping and maintenance.
I spoke to the owner on our return and was informed by him that he would look into the matter and call me back the following day. He did not call. He sent an email simply saying nothing was going to be done, and no refund partially or otherwise.
I realise this hotel is on the market for sale. I would certainly not return and would not recommend. Totally unacceptable customer service all round.
- Jacqueline (6/5): - On the whole this hotel was ok, we weren’t impressed upon our arrival, no reception area and had to look in the bar for staff to book us in. Got to the room and no towels and the tray with the tea/coffee had not been cleaned as there was coffee granules on it. Room was ok mattress was too soft and lumpy for my liking the room was needing a refresh of paint. The stairs up to the rooms was poorly lit and looked like some maintenance would have helped. We didn’t have much contact with the staff so can’t comment further. I would say though, Monday is bin empty day was awoken at 6.30 to the sound of the glass bin being emptied and wasn’t impressed when we went to our car at 1030 to find broken glass in the car park and had to try move this to the side of the drive so we could safely drive out, when we got back though this had been cleaned.
- Neil (8/5): Very good -
- Singh (10/5): Exceptional - I loved the location as near my niece and could walk to town too. Nothing I didn't like, all was great
- Kwan (8/5): A choice worth the money! - Loved the room itself - enough space for two and comfortable bed. Staff is also responsive. There is a pub on the ground floor which is great. Location was not the most central, but convenient to reach by bus
- Nafees (10/5): - Wonderful!
- Julia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Murray (7/5): Good -
- Rachel (10/5): Brilliant staff. Super dog-friendly. - The staff at wonderful and the place is so dog friendly. We’ve been 3 times so far and will keep booking when in Aberdeen for work.
- Noel (6/5): Pleasant -
- Elaine (2/5): Larry - The lady at the reception was good, however the property was not in a good state, so Much so, I didn’t even get under the covers in the bed, overall need tender loving care not the property it was 20yrs ago, sad to see, I was revisiting Aberdeen and thought I would rekindle my memory of this hotel.
- Svein (5/5): Cheap stay and good value for money. - Convenient location. Nice staff. Beds now so comfortable.
- John (7/5): Great if you are looking for a clean comfy bed for the night - Room was great! Unmanned most of the day. Although it seemed breakfast was an additional option, when I went down in the morning no staff were there! So I had to google somewhere to eat!
The communal areas need a little updating in general
- George (10/5): Exceptional -
- Geoff`` (8/5): Rooms not overly large - Thanks for the stay was a good 2 days they were happy to change our room when wife wasn’t overly comfortable
Staff and owner were great The staff went over and above to make us comfortable
Very good restaurant highly recommend
- Andrew (9/5): Welcoming and friendly staff, excellent location. - Clean, welcoming, staff very friendly. Excellent service and the haddock and chips was excellent! N/a
- Louise (9/5): Superb - Hotel was spotlessly clean. Bed was comfortable. Right next to Duthie park. We had everything we needed and the staff were lovely.
- Catherine (8/5): This hotel is good value for what is charged and we will stay again. Staff very helpful. - The location, the cleanliness of rooms and staff. The decoration is a bit tired but the positives above override that.
- Niell (9/5): Superb -
- Alison (9/5): Superb - Staff were very friendly, room was very clean and well prepared.
- Karen (7/5): Good - Central to where we where visiting Bed position ie head right nxt to bathroom door. Layout of bathroom. Toilet should be where sink is. Windows didn't open, curtains off rail so couldbmnt close
- Stuart (10/5): Exceptional - Clean & good food
- John (9/5): Great hotel in a great location! - Great hotel with very friendly staff and excellent food and drink. Easy parking and convenient for the sights of Aberdeen. Very handy for the Duthie Park, with its excellent Winter Gardens, and a short walk by the River Dee to the historic Bridge of Dee. Nothing!
- Stephen (9/5): Value for money - comfortable - excellent hosts - free secure parking - Good sized room - clean, comfortable, excellent hotel staff - location good (about a 15 min comfortable walk to centre of town) - excellent value for money - free secure parking Breakfast good - English style breakfast offered - a bit more variety would be better (ie some fresh fruit/ yogurt)
- Alicja (10/5): Exceptional - Great value for money, near a park and close to bus stops for people who want to sight see the city. We got dinner one of the night in the pub downstairs and the food was lovely and the portions were big.
- Hazel (1/5): If the bed hadn't been clean we would have been out of there like a shot - Being near the Duthie Park The fact that there was excrement in the toilet said it all to me
- Wai (1/5): Bad - Dirty carpet with bad smell, blinds are dirty and dusty.
Toilet no water to flush, and the exhaust fan in bathroom is not working All,
- M (10/5): Exceptional - Everyone was friendly. The bartender checked me in.
- Lynda (6/5): - Staff were super friendly and helpful, very welcoming.
- Iwona (10/5): Very nice cozy place - Hospitality of the staff.
The nights were quiet and mornings very nice, full of sun.
Room was well equiped (hairdryer, iron etc) Smell of probably old building
- Scott (9/5): Superb -
- Erin (9/5): Lovely overnight in a comfortable welcoming hotel - Friendly welcome, good location and parking available, comfortable large room. Useful if it was in the info book what to do if checking out early with your keys. Also a hair dryer would be a good addition.
- Nicky (9/5): Superb -
- Liane (5/5): It was somewhere to sleep at the end of a busy day - It was appropriately priced at £50 for the two of us for the night, no breakfast with that price, which is to be expected. Very clean - the cleanliness was its saving grace It smelt of bleach and chips. Very very dated, bed was OK but every spring was gone. Bathroom was literally falling to bits
- Amanda (9/5): Great spot for a local experience. Value for money. - Staff were fabulous. We spent the evening in the hotel bar which was lovely, speaking with staff and locals, learning lots about the place. We checked in in the middle of a busy dinner service and were attended to quickly and professionally.
The room was cozy, bathroom clean. Shower was perfect. Location handy enough to town, a bit of a walk but fine if driving. Plenty of parking.
- Keith (9/5): Great Pub - Love this place. Good vibes in the pub, great food, lovely hosts.
Rooms are a bit dated but are clean and comfy. Rooms a little dated.
- Daria (8/5): Very good - Very kind and super helpful staff. On the ground floor of the building there is a bar with a pleasant and familiar atmosphere. Free parking in front of the building. Large and clean room The furniture was a bit old and could have used an additional nightstand.
Otherwise, great stay!
- Paul (8/5): Home from Home - Friendly helpful staff, good location and comfort
- Dawn (8/5): Very good -
- Keith (8/5): Great pub stay. Lovely Grub ! - Nice pub accommodation. Lovely evening meal. Friday night stay so was a bit noisy (to be expected) in a pub. Would definitely stay again. Nothing
- Paul (7/5): Pleasent stay - Good location. Friendly staff. Nice breakfast Shower pressure and average heating
- Gill (5/5): Passable - Good location, free parking, friendly staff, biscuits and tea in the room.
Good if you need one night in Aberdeen. Its very reasonabley priced. The area is nice, handy for city centre and close to a park that has a cafe. Cold and drafty in areas. Needing renovated, very run down. The rooms seemed dark as low light bulbs were used. Bed was uncomfortable. Poor sound proofing.
- Kevin (3/5): Unpleasant ,Never again. - Television was good and the location was ok. The room was above the bar and there was constant noise until 11.30pm which meant no sleep or peace and quiet..
The room was tatty , bathroom dirty ,curtains of the rail .
The hotel appears to have no staff present unless the bar is open and no one avsikabkevto complain to..
