Guest Reviews
- Kenneth (10/5): - I've stayed here a few times. Very enjoyable with ocean views.
- Quoc (10/5): - Beautiful view of the bay. Very professional, friendly and polite staff. Niceclean, and comfortable bedding. Highly recommended.
- OVIAL (10/5): - All good
- Robert (8/5): - This is a nice hotel in a good location which is important in this area because most of the Galleries, restaurants and things to do are within a few blocks and that area is fairly safe but outside that area it's sketchy and a little dangerous. Many good restaurants in the area but you can see this whole safe neighborhood in one or two days. The staff is helpful but there is no elevator so if you have bad knees or back you're going to need to get the staff to bring your suitcases up some pretty steep metal steps. There is a decent Cafe and bar at the restaurant with a great View of the port although it's an industrial View
- Nicolas (10/5): Awesome, friendly place. - Super friendly staff. Awesome night there.
- Benjamin (10/5): - What a beautiful place. The rooms are clean and well appointed, the views are just incredible. There's a fantastic restaurant downstairs with views of the coast and harbour.
There's so much around the hotel to see within walking distance and the whole area is bursting with character. Our only regret was not staying longer.
- Maureen (10/5): - Lovely staff. The hot water wasn’t working but they quickly offered a discount. Also helpful with local sights and security.
- Alba (6/5): - Nice room, the only problem the hot water wasn’t working both days I was there, very friendly staff.
- Jonathan (10/5): - The Hotel Boutique 17 is a wonderful place. I cannot say enough good about it. The entire staff is great, from the front desk to the cleaning personel to the waiters at the restaurant. They are compitent and pleasant. The restaurant /bar has the best view in town and really good food. And the rooms are spacios, clean, and comfortable. I wish I had stayed there a month
- Jason (10/5): - We really loved the stay here.
- Mark (10/5): - Great value, great view. The ideal location on Cerro Concepcion. A beautiful view—from room 10–of the ever-changing port and looking across the entire width of the bay. Helpful and knowledgeable staff, with English. Excellent breakfast, and the onsite restaurant—sandwiches, mostly—was able to accommodate our late arrival on a Monday night. Nice contemporary design, well-appointed, with a vertiginous stairway that we got used to.
- John (10/5): Cute and trendy and almost perfect. - It’s a very cute and trendy hotel in a really good part of the city is close to many restaurants and amenities. Breakfast was included, which was nice, and it was good. Don’t be fooled by the cornflakes, they still come and take your order for a regular breakfast. Back terrace where breakfast is served has a lovely view of the harbor. My only small complaint is that the trendy open concept design of the staircase means that sound travels upward rather easily. I could hear kitchen staff preparing equipment or washing dishes or something fairly late at night.
- Alan Stuart (10/5): Excellent Good Value Stay - Booked a room with an ocean view a week before arriving for two day visit - and it delivered with great views and perspective across the ocean and city - better than some in the city the guidebooks will say are 'spectacular'.
Very clean, quiet away from the port bustle below and very comfortable with excellent shower facilities and complimentary coffees.
Good service overall too.
If you have mobility issues then stairs up and down would be only reason to not stay here.
- Paulo (8/5): - This place is nice. When you walk to the reception it looks a lot humbler than it actually is. The rooms are very nice, great ocean view from all of our rooms. Rooms are modern and well appointed, bathrooms are a bit too close to the bed, lacking privacy. The deck is nice, overlooking the ocean and neighborhood. Breakfast is served there and in the morning it was very cold. No heaters available. Quality of breakfast was from acceptable to not good enough. Staff was friendly. One highlight is the neighborhood. There are plenty of places to eat and sei k in walking distance. Overall wel liked it but would try a different place next time.
- mary (8/5): - Boutique 17 is centrally located and the downtown was walkable especially with the funicular. We arrived late at night and the check in was very easy which was appreciated after a long flight. The room was very clean and we had a great view. The only concern we had was the breakfast the buffet was very limited and you had to eat outside even though it is winter in Chile and very cold. People were sitting around in toques and winter jackets.
- Pavel (10/5): Lovely hotel in great location in beautiful city - This is an excellent location of the city in a very beautiful city. Our room had an excellent terrace with a view. It is a shared terrace with the next room, but it was private since nobody was occupying the other room. The staff at the front desk and the restaurant downstairs were very friendly. The complimentary breakfast is sumptuous. The beds are very comfortable and entire facility is very clean and well maintained.
Only thing they should add to their description is the location being next to the ascensor Concepcion. It is a great way to go up and down the hills, especially with luggage. First day, not knowing it, we used the stairs and uphill slopes to reach the hotel from the bus stop.
- Jin (10/5): - The best place we stayed at in Chile! It was conveniently located close to attractions and all the good restaurants. Views are amazing, staff were super nice and greeted us with complimentary cocktails!
Highly recommended place to stay!!
- Tingyong (10/5): - Good location and environment. But room facilities are so so
- Alexandra (10/5): - The people at the front desk were extremely helpful. They provided me with directions and inflammation.
- Pedro (8/5): - Great staff! Very friendly nd supportive. They provided great advice about the area and what to do nearby
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The view was incredible. Staff was friendly and the location was great.
- Christian (6/5): - Neighborhood is terrible. I did not y like it. I reserved this property due to Expedia rating which showed something that is not the same as what I really saw. I will never come back to this neighborhood
- Kindra (10/5): - We had a great stay, front desk staff very helpful, location convenient to metro and Lastarria street activities. Cute balcony off the room and standard Chilean breakfast spread. We saw some people get eggs with breakfast, but we never knew getting them was an option—so not sure how they found that out! There is an “honesty bar” with some snacks and drinks for your convenience to use and just write your room down to be added to the bill. They let us stay and use the pool area until our flight left at midnight even though we had to be checked out for the day. Overall great experience and would stay again.
- Bert (10/5): Place to stay - I liked this hotel so much I booked another night right away very trendy clean and the staff are amazing very eager to make your stay a memorable experience
- Margaret (8/5): - The location, neighbourhood, service, view from our room, Continental breakfast were all fantastic! The ONLY "bad" thing for me (& ONLY me!) - THE STAIRS!!! But I tolerated it, barely; that's what medication is for.
- John (8/5): - The location is perfect in this charming and funky town. Everything seemed close by and there were quite a few creative shops a few steps away. The views from the rooms facing the bay are magnificent. The staff is very helpful. Only complaint is the stars which are artful but confusing for older travelers like myself. Nevertheless, I would highly recommend this hotel.
- Jim (10/5): - Great service and great location
Restaurant has about best view in Valparaiso
- Matthew (10/5): Highly recommend - This is an excellent little hotel. The location is just about the best in Valparaiso and our room had an amazing view of the bay. The guys who run it go out of their way to be welcoming and friendly. Even as far as reminding us about breakfast and offering to bring it to our room. If you’re visiting at a busy time, it would be a good idea to let them know at the time of booking that you will require parking. We didn’t, but they helpfully made space for us at last minute.
- lehlee (10/5): - View fr terrace
- Tomas (6/5): - Muy buena ubicación y excelente vista.
Le falta mantenimiento al Hotel.
- David (10/5): - Great and caring staff
- Barbara (10/5): - Excellent location, nice view of the harbor, interesting style and decor, very friendly and helpful staff
- shannon (10/5): A real treat - This place is a real treat! Really feels like you’re spending the night in a castle. Very well run & nice staff.
- Kenneth (8/5): - Friendly staff, spoke English, clean room, cool view
- Alicia (10/5): - Super cute and comfortable. Great view from the room. Restaurant downstairs very tasty.
- Kathleen (10/5): What a great little place! - We loved this place! The rooms are tiny, but clean and comfortable. Quirky design and a hip vibe. So glad we stayed 2 nights. Just about everything in within walking distane. One of the best meals I had in Chile was the cod for dinner! Incredible view from our room, snd even better from the rooftop bar. Complimentary glass of wne the first night...it was good, not crap wine! Helpful staff and great location.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very nice ocean view and excellent breakfast. Staffs are very friendly.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good location easy walking to port and tourist areas.
- Rossana (10/5): - Wonderful New Year’s Eve gateway for 2. We watched the fireworks over the bay. Great service, great staff, great breakfast, eats, neatness, awesome city. We could not asked more! Happy New Year 2020
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This hotel is centrally located and near to many restaurants. Very good service by all the staff
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The location was fantastic. Staff were great, nothing was too much trouble. Beds were super comfortable and the place was clean.
- Diane (10/5): Fantastic stay - Absolutely amazing boutique hotel, totally as advertised (not all are!). The view was spectacular and service exemplary. Great location and handy to all amenities; other restaurants/cafes, shops, transportation etc Staff were incredibly helpful. Totally recommend and would stay again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Stay Here!!! - Stay here!! This hotel was fabulous. The location is excellent for walking the beautiful neighborhoods of Valparaiso. Also an easy walk to the waterfront and the many walking tours that you can take. There are some lovely restaurants and shops nearby. The breakfast was wonderful and the staff superb. We had an ocean view room. Very quiet at night. The bedding was quite comfortable and the hotel provides both water and espresso in your room at no charge. My only suggestion for the hotel is that they change the bathroom doors. The bathroom wall to the room is glass with a very heavy glass door. It is awkward to enter the bathroom and the door can't be left open for ventilation. It would be a nice design feature to change those doors to slide open rather than swing open. Clearly not a reason to avoid staying here. You will truly enjoy your visit to Valpo with such a comfortable home base!
- kathleen (10/5): Cute boutique hotel with an amazing view - Small boutique hotel located in good place in town close to sights and resturants with wonderful service and amazing views.
I would highly recommend this property and would definitely stay again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Location was good and hotel clean. Staff was very helpful
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good but Needs Some Basics - In my opinion, nice little hotel in a safe part of Valpo but needs some basic room refinements, like a phone, an in room refrigerator, an ice bucket [want ice? Leave your room because there is no phone, go to the front desk, ask for ice, the front desk clerk has to go down to the kitchen and bring you back a bowl of ice cubes from a regular refrig - no ice maker in the hotel - and hand it to you to carry back to your room!]. No face cloths, no MIRROR except above the bathroom sink, had to ask for luggage racks. Nice view over a semi-private balcony/terrace to the ocean through sliding glass doors. Breakfast in lower level very basic/average. Front desk friendly and helpful.Would stay again if room amenities were added.
- Paul (10/5): Great hotel in Valparaiso - Superb location, really friendly, helpful staff, nice clean room and very good breakfast. Surely one of the best places to stay in Valparaiso!
- Sheryl (10/5): - Very helpful and friendly staff.
- Malissa (10/5): - My husband and I traveled with a friend who also stayed in a room there. The hotel looked recently renovated and had all of the basic necessities. Staff was very friendly and able to communicate in English too. The included breakfast was nice. Also, the location was in a convenient area.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Right in the centre of the interesting part of Valparaiso. Staff very helpful and the room was cleaned well. Good facilities overall for a small hotel.
- Minnie (8/5): - The staffs were very nice and friendly and the ocean view room has a great view. However, the bathroom is TOO tiny and the staircase was narrow and scary. No elevator. If you have a large luggage and dont hike regularly, i would t recommend this hotel.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice place and friendly helpfull staff. - Great location! The staff were friendly and helpful. The views were amazing and the restaurants and coffee shop in the neighborhood were great as well.
- Jorge (10/5): - Nice hotel, good neighborhood, nearby restaurants and other attractions of the hills of the city
- Roman (10/5): - Cannot say more nice things about this hotel: it's a small, but well maintained hotel, clean rooms, hot showers, excellent breakfast, excellent location and breathtaking views. It has a nice terrace if your room has an ocean view, so you can go outside and sit there and enjoy the fresh ocean air. Location is perfect with lots of restaurants and bars nearby.
It says it's a 3 star hotel, but it's worth the money. You probably won't find anything better in Valparaiso and I think it deserves to be a 4 star for sure.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Amazing Stay in boutique hotel - This boutique hotel treated us amazingly. They are located in a great spot, the view is unbeatable and the free breakfast completely worth it! They were prompt to respond to questions, and immensely helped us with parking. Their concierge was a wealth of knowledge about surrounding events, tours etc and the rest of the staff was great to. We would come and stay here again in a heartbeat!!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great view, location - Facing the waterfront, great view. Cerro Concepcion is one of the two best areas (Cerro means hill) . Staff very polite and helpful.
Hotel has been remodeled so it has new overtones, but is in need of some good cleaning and paint touch ups where dirty or ceilings peeling. The patio umbrellas were full of holes and dirty. TV limited to two channels in English. And finally— the staircase— open metal grid, wide spiral staircase. Made you dizzy going up or down and areas with no handrail. An elevator would fit perfectly in the space and give the hotel an advantage as all the hotels are Boutique style with no elevators.
Our room faced the ocean, and on a Friday night the very, very, loud, boom, boom, boom of music went on until 5 in the morning.
- Meike (8/5): Nice hotel in great location - Great location - lots of restaurants and art galleries nearby. Staff are super friendly and helpful, breakfast is one of the best we've had in Chile.
- Rossana (10/5): Cozy little place for a wonderful stay - Just a great choice in a great place. Welcoming and kind staff. Wonderful location and great cozy style.
- Leo (10/5): - The hotel is located in a unique "artsy" community. Was fun to walk around the area.
- John (10/5): - Daniel was great.
- Stanley (10/5): - it was a pleasant place to stay. No elevator, so if you can not do stairs, I would not recommend
- Doug (10/5): - Beautiful area of town. The view from the hotel is amazing. Highly recommend!
- Kris (10/5): Heart of the historic arts district - Entering the hotel is like entering a modern designer’s dream home. The hotel is sleek, comfortable, colorful and beautifully appointed . Every surface is pristine and elegantly post industrial. The stairway to the second floor is composed of a slatted steel structure that is burnished and matte so as to carry out the warmth of the design without being cold and stark. The room, Room 5, has a wall of windows overlooking the restaurant below and the harbor beyond. The city view at night is stunning. The sliding door opens on a small balcony softened by the lush vines framing the sides. I cannot say enough about the location. Everything is within a mile of the hotel, the Pablo Neruda house, the Paseos Atkinson and Gervasoni, the Victoria Regina funicular, etc. Be sure to catch dinner in the restaurant in the basement; the chef is brilliant
- Dan (10/5): Wonderful hotel in Valparaiso - This hotel is the perfect place to stay in Valparaiso, located in the midst of the winding streets and mural that bring people to the city. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and the breakfast buffet plentiful with great omelets.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Superb in every way! - This is a wonderful hotel! I loved the whole experience; the friendly and helpful staff; the comfortable and clean room; the stunning restaurant and view, excellent food, and the hotel's location in this extraordinary Chilean city.
- Kent (8/5): Very good location, Great Staff - Staff were extremely polite and helpful. We had a problem with our car and they worked very hard to help us. Can't thank them enough.
Excellent restaurants nearby.
- Farhan (8/5): - Great spot in the City. The rooms were very comfortable and cosy, perfect for a weekend getaway or a longer stay. The Hotel is located in a nice quite neighborhood and the water view from the room is fantastic. Overall, very clean and trendy boutique.
- Richard (10/5): - Beautiful hotel
- Verified traveler (8/5): noise - hotel rooms are not very sound proof, so you hear lots of noise. other than that the rest is fine.
- Jocelyne (10/5): Lovely hotel in the middle of everything! - From the moment we entered until the morning we left (2 night stay), we were welcomed and made comfortable in this small hotel with sea views.
Our bags were carried upstairs on arrival and back down on departure by the helpful and kind staff. Included breakfasts offered cooked eggs in any style, as well as the usual cut fruits, breads, yogurt, etc. Along with regular coffee and tea, espresso was also offered.
We were delighted with the location, which was in a safe area and in walking distance to many restaurants, shops and the colourful, amusing wall murals.
A great stay at a very reasonable price!
- Guillermo (8/5): Nice hotel in a hot area - It is a nice little hotel in the best part of Valparaiso
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent. Excellent. Excellent. Excellent. Excellent.
- Kandice (10/5): Wonderful location in Valpo - Hotel Boutique 17 is a cute hotel at the top of the hill overlooking all of Valparaiso, Vina del Mar, and the beautiful coast. The views from the restaurant and ocean-view are unbeatable!! It's in a great walkable location, parking is easy enough to find nearby. Highly recommend this place!
- Verified traveler (10/5): The best view and confort!!!! - It has been an excelent experience, the best view Of Valparaíso, breakfast was very good, fruit juices, fresh fruit, yogurts, nuts, almonds, croissants, eggs made to your taste, We really enjoyed our stay. We will recommend !!!!!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Amazing view - Fantastic location, modern clean room, great wi-Fi, and friendly staff
Also good breakfast
- Lanster (10/5): Awesome hotel, location, staff and food! - Wonderful hotel stay, staff was very friendly and accommodating (even spoke English). Stayed two nights Super clean room, beautiful view, great bed and bathroom. Can't imagine a better hotel in Valparaiso! Nice breakfast included every morning. Guests receive a 20% discount in the in house restaurant "M" and it was a fabulous meal!! (And I never eat in hotel restaurants.)
- Verified traveler (10/5): - At the top of a hill which puts it in the best part of town. Not too difficult a hike up, or take a cab. Overall a great place to stay.
- Richard (10/5): - Excellent, quiet, comfortable.
- Sergio (8/5): Nice modern Boutique hotel in Valpo - The hotel is really nice and has very modern interior look, the staff is attentive and helpful.
I was in the deluxe suite with a great view of Valparaiso's harbor, my only complain was that I was able to hear all the sounds and noises happening on the stairs and corridors, which can become annoying if you have bad luck (like me) to have a noisy neighbour at the room in front, otherwise I highly recommend this hotel.
- Richard (8/5): - The hotel and staff were lovely, except the nature of the hotel with the metal stairways and where the front door was situated made the hotel very noisy at night time, apart from that it was great, good location too. We did find it strange not to have tea and coffee making facilities in the room though.
- Edward (8/5): Nice place if you can find it. - GREAT VIEW. Virtually impossible to find. Siri got lost several times. Nice room, comfortable bed. Only problem was with stairs. They are not solid, but are vertical metal slats. High heels cannot be worn.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Beautiful view of ocean overlooking the port.
- The room was perfect, modern, clean, overlooking the ocean. Great views and great location to the best restaurants and shops. Truly a great place to stay when visiting Valparaso.
- Paul (6/5): Must do better - Think this hotel has some good points - but seems to show a lack of care in management and be in need to of a tidy up and clean out - outside terrace area could have been really nice but was cluttered with broken tables and chairs. The place felt more like a hostel - please tidy it up as it wouldn't take much to make this hotel amazing.
- David (10/5): Great Valpo Hotel - Great location, nice views, cool vibe, and friendly, helpful staff.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was good- staff very friendly. Breakfast very basic and just ok. View lovely but hotel a bit difficult to find.
- Verified traveler (10/5): The best - Small hotel, very friedly, magnificent view. Good location.
- Deepak (10/5): Classy Boutique Style Hotel - A very elegant and gem of a find in the Hills of Valparaiso, Chile. Great location to taste gastronomical restaurants within walking distance (example Restaurant Conception)
Staff very friendly and go all the way to make you feel welcome, great breakfast made to order
- Jeremy (10/5): delightful hillside hotel - This hotel is perfectly located to explore the historic hillside area of Valparaiso and just a short walk to the downtown & port area . Ideally located to access the many art galleries , bars and restaurants , but far enough away from the noisy nightclubs in the downtown area. Staff were very accommodating and views from their restaurant are incredible
- Pilo (8/5): They need to replacing bed mattres. - Nice little hotel, good food, great view of Valparaiso's bay
- jennifer (8/5): hills of Valapariso - Great location! Challenging to drive to with narrow windy roads but great for wandering on foot. Staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. It was nice having a terrace with view of the water. Room was a little loud. Could hear people up and down stairs and morning seagulls. Great town to visit
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great rooms, not so great staff - We had a large room overlooking the sea and the terrace with a small balcony. Hotel in great location. Room was beautiful, bathroom quite big (glass wall so not very private) and everything was of a good standard apart from bed (on wheels and slightly bent in middle).
One thing that we really weren't happy with was the staff. The staff do not acknowledge you when you walk into the hotel and seemed to be on their phones most of the time. It took some prompting for them to answer any queries. There were a couple of exceptions though - a couple of staff members were very welcoming!
- Arnaud (10/5): Very nice hotel with amazing ocean view - We stayed one night in this hotel, its location is perfect to visit Valparaiso. They originally gave us a room with street view and we asked to get an ocean view, and they immediately agreed and did the switch. Good breakfast.
- Jose (8/5): Nice hotel, close to main attractions. - Great people and ambient. Amazing breakfast and service.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great little hotel - Best / most scenic Cero of Valpo. Safe neighbourhood at night and relaxed atmosphere
- Verified traveler (8/5): Wonderful Place needs a little more guest services - This is a beautiful hotel situated in the best part of Valparaiso. You are one block away from the best restaurants, best views, culture, bars, and the elevator to take you down to the port. I cannot give this hotel 5 stars because I believe that friendliness and front desk service is very important. I think the front desk staff need to act like they are front desk and be more welcoming, more willing to help, more attentive, and when you check in it is important to receive all information about your stay. We were just told how to open our door and that was all. I had to ask if our reservation had breakfast or not, because the girl at the front desk did not even tell us we had breakfast. It is a very nice place to stay and very convenient but sometimes when you go to a hotel the things that stick with you are the friendliness of the staff.
- yan ho matthew (10/5): Super convenient location friendly staff - Great little hotel on Cerro Concepción. Literallt 2 minutes walk to the furnicular that brings you to the main plaza and the metro within 10 minutes. Free breakfast was great, had a selection of egg dishes plus a small buffet. Friendly staff and very helpful check in.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Ocean view - We stayed in room 6 which had wall to ceiling glass overlooking the Port. Spectacular views. The hotel is close to everything.
- Emily (6/5): Clean, friendly, and relaxing. Though no A/C. - Nice and friendly staff, clean rooms and great neighborhood. We were pretty much happy except that we were told we would have A/C in the room and we're only given a fan. Chile gets pretty hot.
Breakfast area was lovely and service was very helpful, though the food was just okay.
Thanks for a good trip overall!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Modern hotel in The heart Of Valparaíso - The hotel staff is very accommodating , location is right in the heart of artsy Valparaiso and the views are great .
Would stay again .
