TXMARTINS (8/5): Hard to control temperature so be prepared - Despite it being cold outside, we couldn’t get airflow into the room to temper the baseboard heating that you can’t control. So we had a fan pointed at us just to get airflow - I imagine in the summer this is also very difficult. Good staff, many rooms have shared bathrooms so know what you are booking. National Park hotels are more for the historical charm and elements, not for updated modern amenities.
darnela (10/5): 5 days at Old Faithful Inn - When checking in was not advised that there was bellmen to help with luggage, Had to ask that the room be cleaned. When cleaned they did not mop the bathroom floor or vacuumed.
richardjanetg (8/5): Mixed Experience - Our room was spacious and overlooked the Old Faithful geyser -- a remarkable experience. Electrical outlets were somewhat limited & no USB ports. Check-in, check-out, and valet service were outstanding. But dining room food (buffet) was shockingly poor and very limited; staff was unable to keep trays full; preparations were lacking in any culinary finesse. One night we had to wait in the buffet line for nearly 15 minutes before we could even serve ourselves at the buffet table. Definitely NOT In keeping with the historic status of the Inn. A black mark on our experience in Yellowstone.

Good trails/walkways, good service when needed, just a wonderful trip with good weather, got to see and do all we wanted and then some--a wonderful memory trip
LeahSydney01 (6/5): OK accommodation in a charming historic hotel - I am reviewing this hotel as a provider of accommodation, not as an historic attraction. (As an historic site it is well worth visiting and doing the free tour). The big downside of this hotel is that there are very few rooms with their own bathroom, so most people end up using a shared bathroom, which was OK but not ideal. The rooms are small, which is fair enough because it is true to its origins. The hotel restaurant does provide dinner but it is a buffet and there is no à la carte option. We ate at the restaurant at the Old Faithful Snow Lodge which had an excellent and reasonably priced à la carte menu.
pattyconlon23 (6/5): Not worth the money - The hotel was truly beautiful in the common areas, and had multiple viewpoints to see Old Faithful. The lack of air conditioning, TVs, and internet (which we did know going in to this) means there is truly nothing else to do when not watching Old Faithful.
meatx2025 (8/5): The hotel is a short 2-3 minute walk to Old Faithful - The inn history and location are amazing. There is no air conditioning so they supply a very small fan and opening the window for air. The inn is so old you can hear everyone walking past in the hallway and above you. BRING EARPLUGS IF YOUR A LIGHT SLEEPER. 👍🏻
Lauren (6/5): - It’s very clear that this property is the only game in town and they act like it. The food is not good, our room was not ready to check in until after 7pm, and there were two pillows per bed, four tiny pillows total for four people. Asked for more pillows but no one came. The history is cool but I think going in summer and camping would offer a better experience.
flipthetopanddrive (2/5): Horrible - dirty & uncomfortable - Stay somewhere else if you can. Carpet so dirty I wore shoes. Furniture so rickety I could not sit on chair. Bare light bulbs in two fixtures. Room was tiny, uncomfortable, and not as shown. I get this is a unique site, but at other hotels with unique locations that charge a premium for the stay, you can expect a clean, comfortable room and at least a few amenities. This is a pure-money grab and it's clear they don't care about the customer at all.
Brian (6/5): - Pretty outdated, No wifi, and limited dining options. The coffee bar and adult beverage bar on the second floor is the best place to watch Old Faithful though. For a room, I would highly recommend staying at the Old Faithful Snow Lodge just across the parking lot instead. It is modern, has a nicer restaurant, and has internet too.

sharon (2/5): - Terrible! Staff was not welcoming! Elevator smelled bad! We had 2 rooms. One door jammed. TVs don’t work. Lights burnt out. ONLY ONE SET OF TOWELS. Phone didn’t work. HVAC moldy. NO toilet paper in one room. Breakfast was disgusting. Overheard a guest say they wouldn’t feed it to their dog.
GoVols79 (10/5): Old Faithful Inn - We stayed at the Old Faithful Inn during July in the old house section and couldn’t have been happier with our stay. The bathrooms were not a big deal and our room was larger than I expected. It was so nice to be able to walk out the door and see Old Faithful and walk around the Upper Geyser Basin area as well as spend time in the Inn when it was less crowded. There are multiple restaurants in the building as well as two general stores close by and the restaurants at the other hotels. The visitor center is also next door. Yellowstone is a huge park that requires a lot of driving but staying in this area was very convenient. We loved our experience at this iconic hotel.

Radiator heat is hard to adjust so you are either freezing or sweating. Bathroom was shared and often out of toilet paper. No WIFI or cell service. No food options except for expensive buffets.

Thomas (2/5): - Made the reservation in August. Checked in after 4:00PM. Took my credit card for incidentals then told me my room wasn’t ready. I was told about a half hour. After checking with the front desk hourly, with Peter, I went to the manager, Stacy. I said three hours is my limit. Oh. You room was booked through Expedia. I asked if that was bad. She said no, but you will receive a credit for waiting three hours to check in. She said because it was booked through Expedia, the credit would come through Expedia. I will be waiting for a response within 5 business days.
Yao Chang Stephanie (2/5): - The price of the nightly charges of $420/day should allow the hotel to provide a decent service, but instead receive no service at all. No room cleaning, no towels, no trash removal.... no a lots of things....
i-luv-to-eat (4/5): Great old lodge but disappointing stay - We chose this lodge, in part, due to its dinner menu as we have a plant-based diet. I made reservations for both nights of our stay. When we arrived I found out, only by chance, that they no longer offered a menu but only a buffet from which we could not eat. We ended up having to go to the Sno Lodge and eat a veggie burger on a hot dog bun. There was a 90 minute wait for a table in their restaurant which does not take reservations. Our room was not clean - there was mold in the bathroom, pretty disgusting. They have a captive audience at this lodge but for the money you would hope Xanterra (the concessionnaire) would provide better services and take better care of the rooms. We did visit at the end of the season but that is no excuse.

t4gko2sk80 (8/5): Great location and historic place to stay - Loved the nightly concerts. Disliked the availability of food options and quality of food. We have stayed in other national parks and found delicious and a variety of food offerings and availability of coffee and tea 24 hours . Overall staff was friendly and kind. You can’t beat this location however this hotel really needs to update their pillows and beds. They felt really worn down and we didn’t sleep the best while there.

Mark (10/5): - Was expecting this place to be a bit over touristy, old and dusty, but was pleasantly suprised. We stayed in the actual Inn, with shared shower and toilets, which we were concerned about, but they were nice quality, reasonably clean, and empty whenever we needed to use them. Bedroom was very quaint. Not having an en-suite is a bit of a pain, but it actually added to the authenticity of the building. We would stay again. Ground floor or reception is full of tourists come to see the old building, but upstairs is quiet enough to get seating and listen to the music and soak up the atmosphere. ts just a shame that the bars upstairs dont have dishwashers, so drinks are in plastic glasses, and seating does not have side tables. They really need to find a simple solution here, as sitting and having a drink in the main hall could be so much more of a pleasure for guests.
tombo5949iu2025 (4/5): Dark, tired room, horrible food - How hard is it to serve hot food at the buffet breakfasts & dinners (there were no other menu options but the buffet)? The food was ice cold having apparently sat on the counter for hours. The rooms have very dim light bulbs and almost nothing in the way of decorations so the rooms come across as tired and dingy. There's no wifi!!!!! How is that even possible these days? We had o hike to the Snow Lodge to do emails while sitting in the lobby. We try to avoid Xanterra-run properties because they take no pride in their facilities . . . . despite the HIGH prices charged for the rooms.

Tiny unmaintained room, no climate control, unappetizing and substandard food, buffet only with no other menu items, etc. I could go on and on, but except for some good staff interactions it was a complete disappointment.
jggtav0aro (6/5): Beautiful Hotel, Food Situation Needs to be addressed - This hotel is physically beautiful and the staff are very nice and knowledgeable. It is so busy that we could not get dinner reservations before 9:00 pm on any of our three nights. There was a two hour wait at the restaurant in the hotel next door. They need to improve this situation as they have no way to feed all the guests they have and there is no way to go offsite (an hour drive to anywhere). Also, we had no housekeeping service throughout our stay. We had high hopes and were a little disappointed.
Ashlee120 (2/5): October 2025 - Will never be back. Bathtub had hair in it. Food in dining room was overpriced for below average taste. This was supposed to be a wonderful birthday getaway but it ended up being the worst day/night of our 7 day trip. The bathtub drain did not hold making it difficult to bathe a toddler. The hot water was also nonexistent. You could feel the springs in the bed when sleeping and the pillows smelled like old, sweaty gym clothes. You could also hear everything from everyone around you making it a terrible sleeping environment. My advice would be to drive the 45 minutes and stay in West Yellowstone and stay far away from this place. Total waste of money and letdown for my birthday.
Lynn (6/5): - Great location to see a variety of the gysers and of course "Old Faithful!" Room did not have a bathroom and the walk to the bathroom in the middle of the night was not fun! Shared showers were gross - filled with hair! We saw others wearing robes and we did not have any in our room. Buffet lunch was good value but dinner buffet way to expensive!

LakewoodJoan (8/5): Lovely, Historic, Unforgettable, With Minor Irritations - The lobby area and balconies are unparalleled! Cool, historic, comfortable, rustic in the best way, and unforgettable. The rooms in the "old house" are lovely. Close to miles of boardwalks and dozens of geysers and burbling springs. Worth a stay of several days. The free architectural tour was fun. That said, Xanterra needs to pay more attention to details. The shared bathrooms were beautifully renovated and we don't mind a walk down the hall when in a historic inn, but there were multiple issues: The robes provided did not have sash ties, forcing us to clutch them closed as we traversed the hall! The shampoo and soap dispensers in the shared bathrooms were either broken or empty. Elsewhere in the building housekeeping left stuff abandoned, i.e. piles of bedding in the halls, a bottle of green spray cleaner on the glassware shelf in the gift shop. The "formal" dining room was mayhem. Lines for the buffet were 15-minutes long and food was not promptly replenished. Still, there's no other hotel as cool as this, so if you're willing to overlook details like these, Old Faithful Inn is definitely a hotel stay like no other that you'll remember forever.
bobsX9624MH (8/5): Once in a lifetime adventure. - Even in October the Inn was very busy. Great time of the year to visit. The room was very clean and warm. Wood panning al soft lighting. Queen bed was comfortable. The Bear Pub was inviting. THe Bear Deli had breakfast and lunch.
GTRambler (10/5): What a location!! - The Old Faithful Inn is a bucket list lodge that truly is a national treasure. Our stay made us feel like we were living a hundred years ago, but with more modern facilities. You can wake up to the geyser erupting and then have breakfast in the lodge. The rooms are a bit dated, but expected as this is a historic lodge. The staff were great and this was during a time of potential govt shutdown, so all of us were stressed what would happen. This was a week before the end of the season, so the food service was not as is normally expected.

Trip48623066441 (10/5): The Old Faithful Inn should be on your bucket list - If my history is correct, the Old Faithful Inn was the original national park lodge. They have done an outstanding job keeping it looking great and the staff is awesome. Yes, it is expensive, but it's worth it.
OCGlenn2025 (2/5): Stay in West Yellowstone - Being close to Old Faithful was not worth the inconvenience of this hotel. Food service was very limited and not very good quality. Visited the other two local hotels and they were no different. I'd recommend to all friends to stay in West Yellowstone just outside the park.
peterhK5604UB (8/5): Great stay in Old House - We stayed three nights in the Old House in a room adjacent to the central hall, with a private bathroom. This is not a given, as we learned during the daily guided tour, which is highly recommended. The room is cozy, comfortable, and atmospheric. Just pleasant to stay in. Because the room is next to the central hall, we had nice background music every evening to fall asleep to. Not disturbing, just like the chatter of guests in the central hall. The bathroom is neat and clean. However, it is quite difficult to shower in a freestanding bathtub without making a mess. The Old Faithful Inn is a good base to explore the Upper Geyser Basin and literally immerse yourself in the water pushed up by the geysers, and marvel at the beautiful hot springs. The advantage of staying here for several nights is that, based on the predictions of the geyser eruptions, you can see several (from different viewpoints) and when its less crowdy. And no, it’s not true that if you’ve seen one, you’ve seen them all. We were lucky to witness a Beehive eruption on our first afternoon. If possible, try to reserve a table in the dining room for dinner. The food is tasty and good, but not exceptional. What we found odd was that our reservation couldn’t be found in the system and that we received an email canceling our reservation while we were eating. Breakfast, served buffet style, is good. If possible, try to avoid the busiest times for a more relaxed meal.
trekkin2014 (4/5): Not going to repeat the bad experience in an 80 deg room! Poor sleep guaranteed. - We live nearby in Cody, so we were curious about the Old Faithful Inn lodging experience. It took a gut check to pay the super high fee, but it was a special occasion so we went ahead. Things started badly when we arrived at 3 pm to check into our room. We were told the room was 'not ready', check back later. So we checked back again and again, lugging our heavy bags around in the meantime. Finally, after 5 pm, after wasting 2 hours, we were given keys and led to our room. The room was sparse but clean, with restroom and shower down the hall. After dinner we got ready for sleep, not sure how to regulate the temperature in the room. There were no controls to adjust the heat. An old fashioned gas radiator was in the corner, and it was hot. The window had been open, but predicted low was 37 degrees F, so we closed it. Within hours of laying down we were dealing with an 80 deg F room! So we opened the window, and a permanent bright light outside shined in adding to our inability to sleep. So we had a crummy night's sleep for over $300. Sorry but quaintness and history did not make up for a bad night's sleep. We would not do this again under any circumstances.
Navigator11930595504 (8/5): You are paying a high price for the location, not a great room. - There is no competition in Yellowstone from other hotels, this is not a privately owned business, and it shows. The location of the three Old Faithful lodges is fantastic. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The food at Old Faithful inn is good. The rooms vary widely, depending on in which wing you are located. While some of the rooms are small and a bit outdated, it was the lack of cleanliness that really bothered us and the family we were traveling with. It's important to note the bedding was very clean and fairly comfortable. The bathrooms, however, had mold in the tile grout, dirty spots on the floor, lots of dust on ledges and in the corners of the floor with crumbs on the carpet. In the expensive suite, there was no plug for the coffee maker in the area designated for making coffee, the exhaust fan in the bathroom was so loud, we were reluctant to turn it on. The window overlooking Old Faithful was so dirty, we could barely see out of it. There were other cleanliness issues, as well. We "splurged" to stay there, but I will choose another location next time.
barbarav198936 (10/5): Book it for the Experience!! - It's pricey and old fashioned, but it's one of those "once in a lifetime" experiences to stay at the Old Faithful Inn. You are right there at the geyser and have the opportunity to see multiple eruptions as you are going about your day (or night). The history of the hotel and architecture are amazing. Realize going in that you are getting away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life (NO tv, internet, or a/c). We went in the fall, so weather was beautiful. We had no cell service with T-Mobile, but Verizon users had some. Nightly live music entertainment. Should have made dinner reservations for the dining room, but didn't and they were booked. At in the casual place and food was good. Nothing is cheap, but you should already know that. Stayed one night so we'd have the experience. Headed over to The Yellowstone Lake Hotel for the next 2 nights (rooms a bit bigger and there were the water views).
X8155QDvladimirl (2/5): Just horrible! - Location and the overall appearance of the Inn is excellent. The problem with the room they gave us - it was just horrific for such super high price. The room that gave us was very primitive with cheapest amenities you can find is worst motels. The bathroom has a complete disaster: a 1970s seal plastic shower with 40-year old showered. Fortunately room and bed were clean - thanks to staff who took care. Noise was horrific - you can hear people taking in the corridor and even in their room. You can hear when somebody flush toilet, open or close the door. We complained to the staff and one of the front desk woman told us that they will move us in decent room, but manager refused to do this. In addition, the Inn did not has any WiFi: we were unlucky that T-Mobile (our company) does not have any cell service in Yellowstone: the combination was horrific, we were cut off the internet for all our stay. In addition, the restaurant food - while expensive - was always a buffet with very low quality. We were tried one dinner and one breakfast and after that were eating anywhere we find decent food. We can not understand how the management of the Inn turned such a beautiful old accommodation into a nightmare for us. Disappointment and disgust will we the most polite words we can find for this horrific experience.

B3926IAdavidk (2/5): Mismanaged and very run down - Looking forward to staying at the iconic Old Faithful Inn turned out to be the BIG disappointment of our 3 park tour. The Inn seemed over-booked because the staff seemed so burned out--it was the end of the season. There is zero WIFI on the property which shouldn't make a difference because you're "there" but it does make a diffference, because the place is so run down, the rooms a small and I was claustrophobic. Also, to check weather, directions, etc...you have to wait in line to talk to the front desk. They too are sick of it.

Highly recommend everyone to spend atleast a night here and enjoy what this place has to offer.Gift shop was awesome and you will walk out with something beautiful.
mwhamburger (6/5): wonderful lodge but rooms leave a lot to be desired - the lodge has an awesome interior that's a must see. If you stay overnight be prepared for a noisy room with few amenities. Small bathroom, tiny sink, no place to hang towels, radiator that gets only turned on if the temp falls below 60 degrees, no TV or Wi-Fi (not even in the lobby), creaky floors, can hear people next door and above; windows not insulated. But if you don't mind all that - enjoy the lodge surrounding and interior; it's unique. Marginal bedding and mattress. Dinner and breakfast were pretty terrible. Few choices and nobody cleaning up the buffet (outright messy); slow service (staff shortage), no menu choices - just the buffet in spite of what we were told. No bread. Dessert looked destroyed but the fudge was great. Would I every stay here again? No.

Plus the front desk has a schedule of what time Old Faithful goes. Rooms nice but no TV or wifi. The restaurant was disappointing. Understaffed, we were 4, two meals came out right, one was wrong n the other was missing. Time the other 2 meals came out my friend n i were done eating. While the wives were eating, server asked if we wanted dessert. DUH.

Lowell (8/5): - Beautiful, old, classic hotel. Right at “Old Faithful” geyser, viewable from the upstairs deck, not to be missed! Our room was in the old area, with the bathroom down the hall. We were aware of this and it was fine for a night or so. The room was nice, and quiet, all wood paneled. The dining room was beautiful and the food was well prepared with good service. A great place in Yellowstone to stay.

215annim (4/5): The Inn disappointing and underwhelming - The location inside the park was exceptional and exactly where we wanted to be. The lobby was grand and the public areas were pleasing and clean. The rooms were adequate and we were glad that the time of year negated the need for air conditioning or overhead fans in the rooms. The service, food, lack of dining choices and especially the Main Dining room, were extremely disappointing and underwhelming. The long wait times for a table were only exceeded by the ridiculously long wait for our food. We could not obtain a dinner reservation before 7:15pm. We waited almost 2 hours for meals to arrive, having been dismissed several times by a very rude server. When our meals finally arrived, they were undercooked, cold and inedible. We witnessed many similar experiences from other guests that night. Management was powerless other than to apologize. Now (late September) they are only offering buffet meals. Given the high costs of accommodations and food, buffet style for 3 meals is totally unacceptable. The huge dining room had only 1 buffet station available. So, even if the room was not crowded, you were still waiting a long time on line to plate up with mass-produced scrambled eggs, overcooked/heated breakfast meats, etc. Xanterra Travel group has been in the hospitality business for decades. They should have been able to figure this out by now. The Old Faithful Inn was terribly understaffed with rude, inexperienced servers and a very poorly run kitchen. The other dining options were cafeteria style, grab and go, and definitely not an upscale experience.
Scackleton (4/5): Sad decline of a great venue - Disinterested staff and months of dust in guest accommodation - It is so sad that the Xanterra team have allowed standards to fall so low, perhaps because visitors are in awe of the location and only stay a few nights. But at the prices charged ($500+) standards of cleanliness and service should be way above our experience.

terenceb284 (2/5): Old Faithful Inn - The Emperor has no Clothes - We found the rooms to be badly maintained, the availability of food service totally inadequate, and the quality of food in the main dining room for dinner to be abysmal. In contrast, the rooms and food service at the Jackson Lake Lodge, which is 75 years old, were excellent, and at the quality that one would expect for the price. We spent 4 very expensive nights in what we expected would be an old fashioned but well-maintained hotel. We were wrong. Our room had stained carpets, as did the hallways. The dresser was an ancient battered oak one with balky drawers that should have been in a junk store. The bathroom shower was a cheap installed plastic surround. The room and doors looked like they had not been painted in 30 years of hard use. No one came to clean or straighten our room in the four full days and nights that we stayed there. The food service was the worst I have ever experienced in 50 years of national and international travel. At noon on the day that we arrived I asked for a reservation in the main dining room and was told that there were no tables for 2 until 9:30 on any of the four nights that we were staying there. I was referred to the main dining room in the Snow Lodge (across the parking lot) since they did not require reservations, but was told there that the wait would be 60 to 90 minutes. This was always the case at 6 PM, 7 PM and even 8 PM every night of our stay. The only other dining options were the Geyser Grill (serving hamburgers, etc.), which closed at 7 PM and the cafeteria, which closed at 6:30. I finally managed to obtain a table at the Old Faithful Inn due to a cancellation and ate at the mandatory $49.95 buffet. The advertised chicken in morel cream sauce turned out to be dry plain chicken breasts with no sauce or mushrooms and only a bit of seasoning. What was labeled as bison short ribs had no ribs at all, and looked and tasted like a chunk of overcooked and dry pot roast. The salmon in beurre blanc sauce ended up as badly overcooked salmon swimming in what looked like water, and the brussels sprouts had been cooked into a grey soggy mash. Our last night there, after refusing to eat again at the main dining room, and since we were told that at 8 PM there would be a one to two hour wait at the Snow Lodge, we resorted to buying cold sandwiches from a cooler. The location of the Inn is excellent, but I recommend staying at one of the other locations and driving to see the Old Faithful Geyser and the nearby Geyser Hill.

Expensive and no added benefits. - Positives:- location/views Negatives-Hotel Dated- rooms smell If you arrive when Old Faithful is due to ‘pop’ you will not get a parking space (even if you’ve paid a fortune to stay) Hotel should allocate parking to front of hotel for guests only and police it! I had to park 1/4 mile away on arrival and move car later. Some rooms do not have air con. Our friends had a room with air con but it didn’t work! Bar menu states various (6) draft beers/lagers but they only had one!! Got Double charged on the bill for food in the Fire Hole Bar……(So check your bill)! Again like Lake Yellowstone Hotel oozes…. Take the money and do nothing for customers. (Owned by same chain) The staff are miserable because everything is wrong and nobody tips for poor service. No lifts at hotel. We had to negotiate 3 lots of stairs with 46kg of luggage. (2 couples) friend pulled his back carrying luggage up stairs. Consider no where to be found.

The rooms are older and could use some updating but the compromise is worth it for the location. Just be prepared to eat dinner early or not eat at all. We were surprised that most dining options end at 6:30pm unless you were lucky enough to get a dinner reservation.

A place charging $500+ per night shouldn’t only offer a terrible buffet charging $50 per person. If it were a good buffet then it could have been worth $50. But it wasn’t. We were one of the many guests forced to walk to a nearby lodge because the burger was better than the buffet.
Shibas3934 (6/5): Great location, ok accomodation. - Our West Wing room was small, but comfortable, clean and quiet. Buffet breakfast was hit or miss. One day fresh, the next, food was cold. The most frustrating part of the stay was that we were not informed that housekeeping was suspended for the season until we returned to the room in the evening to find an unmade bed, no clean towels, and no re-fresh of the coffee machine. A call to the front desk yielded a promise to deliver towels and coffee, but they never came. Hours later, had to make a trip to the front desk and ask in person, where they were able to hand towels and coffee over immediately.

Very strategically located on the lower loop which makes a day in the Grand Tetons very accessible as well. Plenty of amenities in the general area. Only disappointment was dining in the Lodge cafeteria.
Pointsandmilesdoc (2/5): Shameful degradation of this historic Inn - I've always been fascinated by the historic national park lodges, so I didn't mind shelling out the incredibly high price point to stay in a base room at the Inn. Unfortunately, this stay turned me off of any of the historic lodges as long as Xanterra is in charge. They should be ashamed. The room was dirty, in disrepair, and loud. One of the toilet components had to be replaced while we were there due to the tank not filling. Maintenance was nice but even at 9pm they said they had more than 10 calls to attend to and recommended using the dirty public toilet until they could replace the component the next day. The staff members are obviously trying their best, but Xanterra is there is churn bodies, not keep a historic place in good condition. For $500+/night, one would expect a working toilet. Most of the time, one stays in a NP lodge to have a great location. But there's no benefit here - there are no parts of the hotel (or even parking) reserved specifically for guests. There are few hiking trails right out from the hotel. I would not recommend staying here.
mrworldtraveller1 (4/5): Unprofessional staff and untidy room. - I recently stayed at the old faithful inn and had a sub par experience. While the location was very convenient and the building had remarkable charm, the first room we were given was direct and the beds weren't made. Then we were given a room near the exit which lead to a bit of noise that was manageable however, the walls have very poor sound insulation and we had a crying baby next door. We would manage this if we were told sorry no room is available, and we cannot help you switch. Instead the reception suggested we pay $400 more for a different room, or they can call security on the crying baby. Neither of which are sustainable options. Quite a disappointing outcome. We checked out after 1 night.

Dentalboy2 (2/5): Save yourself disappointment and money and stay outside the park! - The one and only upside is its location but everything else will make you forget that. For the price elsewhere you could stay in a 4 Seasons and have a lovely experience or you could spend a fraction of the price and still have a better experience than staying at the Old Faithful Inn. Dated, dirty no housekeeping uncomfortable beds, no WiFi (at least they warn you about that). Soundproofing is non existent so can hear everything in the halls and next door including their snoring and toilet habits. It’s also virtually impossible to eat at night as the main restaurant is booked out 3 days in advance to 9:45 so they send you over to the Obsidian restaurant which is a first come first served and both nights so far have been a 2-3 hours wait but we haven’t been lucky. I’ve never regretted booking a hotel as much as Old Faithful Inn, stay outside the park and drive in, you’ll thank yourself if you do.
smdodf (6/5): Historic but uncomfortable - A lot depends on where your room is at Old Faithful Inn. We were assigned a room in what felt like being in a dungeon. There was no convenient way to get our bags to our room. Lots of steps and no elevator to that level and no luggage carts to use. We were on a two week road trip and had more than one bag each. Old Faithful Inn was not our first stop nor our last. If we ever return to Yellowstone NP we would not stay at Old Faithful Inn, though it was a convenient location. Also, parking was inadequate so cars ended up being parked in spots not meant for parking, creating difficulties navigating the parking lot. At times, cars were circling the lot, trying to find a spot.
NB1140 (4/5): Go only for the location - What a great location; what a terrible experience (especially given the price). The food service situation was terrible - if a health inspector visited, the kitchen would be shut down (for example, food on buffet was never hot - not even at the opening of the line; staff handling food with bare hands; etc.). The staff is kind but has not been trained. Stay here and you will save 2 hours a day driving in and out of the park. You will NOT have a single good meal, you will not have any experience that you would have at a $400+ a night hotel anywhere else. It is all about the location; I don't think they invest in training people and in hiring managers who can create an environment where young people get excited about being part of a team delivering a great experience.
trevorjbull (10/5): Wonderful Rustic Hotel - We stayed in the hotel for one night, in the Old House, with no bathroom facilities in the room. The beds were comfortable and the shared bathroom facilities were clean and perfectly acceptable. We also enjoyed listening to a violinist playing in the lobby after dinner. I would also recommend a tour of the hotel. The only negative was the Dining Room. The food quality was poor and the service not much better. Our main course was served up as we were eating our starters and just left on the side. no attempt to keep warm until we had finished our starters. Even then the food was poor, apart from the starters.
SunshineTraveler59 (2/5): Do not stay at the Old Faithful Inn - go to see the beautiful builiding and watch the Old Faithful Eruption - The Old Faithful Inn is an Iconic and beautiful building. But once you pass through the doors, buyer beware. As one their paying guests, there is nothing special for their experience compared to the thousands of visitors who walk through the doors all day long. The rooms are not welcoming for the $600+ cost per night and I would never recommend staying to anyone. The food choices and quality is subpar at best (the main dining is Buffet only for all 3 meals, long lines, most of the food (beyond the salad) is not eatable) The other restaurants are not much better by way of quality, availability and cost. If you are visiting, pack a lunch. The cost of the room is priced like a Four Seasons but the accommodation quality and experience is like a Days Inn. Stay at any of the lodges in the Grand Tetons. The accommodations, the quality and variety restaurants and food options are 100% better. It was one of the most disappointing experiences I've ever had. It's really sad.
lisa (8/5): - we were so excited to be able to stay at the old faithful Inn. The structure is so impressive and just beautiful. We enjoyed our dinner in the dining room. The hostess and wait staff were super friendly. It was very convenient to walk out on a regular basis and watch old faithful go off. I was even able to get up in the morning and watch it at sunrise. I loved the rustic feel of the hotel. But I was a little disappointed in the cleanliness. I felt they could’ve done a better job of just picking up trash or running a vacuum cleaner. Our room itself, though was very clean.

Aramark the company runs it and you feel that type of institutional experience despite the great location.

It is GROSSLY Overpriced, our room’s cleaning staff was terrible, and the restaurant facilities are quite lacking - not enough to adequately serve all their guests with subpar quality and equally overpriced. The architecture of the Inn is great and being adjacent to Old Faithful is a plus, but these two positives alone don’t warrant the cost. This was likely the only time we’ll ever get to Yellowstone so we paid to stay at this iconic Inn thinking it has to be at worst average and thus worth our investment. Boy were we wrong!!!
Companion18707185445 (4/5): Old Faithful Inn - Dirty and lack of housekeeping - Stayed in Junior Suite- East Wing over $1,000 per night. When we checked for our stay of 4 nights, we were told that they had discontinued daily housekeeping services and that we would have to get towels, coffee, etc. by coming to the front desk. I could have accepted this lack of housekeeping, however when we got to the room it was obvious that floor had not been vacuumed and the room was not well kept- missing pictures from the wall, no way to plug in coffee maker without unplugging the refrigerator, broken towel holder and more. Put up with this for 3 days until the silly trash box in the room was overflowing and the toilet paper ran out; there was not even an extra roll in the room. At the front desk, I complained about having to get my own toilet paper and that the trash was overflowing. When I asked for a complaint form, I was referred to the manager on duty, she listened to my complaints and said that I should have been told that I could request daily housekeeping and they would have provided it. She did compensate me for one night's stay and had the trash removed from the room. The lack of housekeeping can be seen throughout the hotel, dirt on the stairs that was never cleaned up during our stay, dirty windows, dirty bathroom floors, etc. This facility has gone downhill over the last 10 years when I previously stayed there. It is hard to justify the price now even for the historic building and location. Also, I cannot recommend the main dining room- it is very expensive for the quality of the food, and which is usually served lukewarm. For 3 nights, they did not offer the buffet as an option which was okay because we wanted to order from the menu. The fourth night, only the buffet was available, no ordering from menu. The buffet is second class at best- food lukewarm, overcooked and lacking in favor and they get to charge you over a $100 for a couple with no option for anything else. Also, they do not inform you that it is buffet only till the seat you at your table. No heads up so you could go somewhere else like the bar that has hot food. Overall, I came away very disappointed with my stay at the Old Faithful Inn. I recommend that you visit to see that architecture of this historic building and then stay and eat somewhere else.

We had to pay for breakfast. There is no internet. We paid $500 per night for a room that wasn't worth $100 in my opinion. Not good value.
Mikeofokc (10/5): Finally after 60 years we stayed in the "Old House" - Since I was 10 my folks and later my wife and I have tried staying in to original old house part of Old Faithful Inn. It was a bucket list item I never hoped to achieve. Yet persistence and being there at right time finally paid off. The bathrooms are down the hall as well as the showers and tubs just like when they built the place long long ago. We had a view of the famous geyser from our windows. No AC and old school floor standing steam registers. Open the windows for fresh cool air and shut them and let that cast iron steam make the room cozy warm or really hot if you wish. Rooms fairly quiet. In room sink allows for face washing and water. Bed was comfortable. Price was better than expected and loved marking off this bucket list luxury my folks never could enjoy.
N6831DLkevinl (2/5): Find someplace else. A tent might be better - I would strongly advise travelers to avoid this hotel. The hotel has two advantages and a number of disadvantages. The first advantage is that it is within walking distance of the geysers. The second is that the main building is a goal log cabin and wonderful to see. Both of these “advantages “ can be experienced without staying here. Disadvantages far outweigh the advantages. First the cost is excessive (over 800 dollars per night). Rooms are dingy and small and have not been updated in decades. Bathroom is small (actually smaller than the bathroom on a cruise ship. Shower is old, stained and I almost cut my foot on the shower drain which was loose. Furniture is old and totally lacks any charm and there is not enough space for two people to empty their suitcases. Rugs are threadbare. And last but not least there is no TV or WiFi. Strongly, very strongly suggest that you stay elsewhere. Kevin L

We were fortunate to stay in the “Old House”, the original part of the hotel. The architecture was beyond amazing! Highly recommend the free hotel tour. Loved lounging on the second floor balcony in the evening, listening to the crackling of the fireplace and the violinist. Everyone loved the bear shaped guest soaps, so cute! Thank you!
373tl (6/5): Beautiful Historic Hotel you should visit once - The Old Faithful Inn is truly a beautiful, historic hotel and worth visiting even if you don’t stay overnight. The lobby, balcony overlooking Old Faithful, evening live music, and historic tour were highlights of our visit. We also enjoyed the Bear Pen Bar, the coffee bar on the mezzanine, and a very good dinner in the main dining room (reservations are a must). That said, the value for the money isn’t great. We stayed in Room 1060, one of the rooms with a private bathroom, and found it very dated. The furniture was well used, carpet and paint could use an update, and the radiator was noisy. There’s no Wi-Fi, no temperature control, and you can hear neighbors through the walls. Parking is difficult, and the building is a bit of a maze—reaching our room required going down two separate staircases with no elevator. Rooms are bare bones, so manage expectations. However, the lack of Wi-Fi did have a silver lining—it encouraged guests to play cards, read, have conversations, and actually meet new people. For Wi-Fi, you can access it at the neighboring lodges. Overall, the Old Faithful Inn is best appreciated for its history, location right by the Visitor Center and other lodges, and atmosphere. It’s worth seeing at least once, but the overnight experience is more about the charm of the building than modern comfort.

gjdela2 (8/5): Ask about room differences - We had 2 couples in our trip, Our room had a bathroom included. Our friends bathroom was in the all & used by others. They did have a sink in their room though. The hotel was very beautiful and historic. The food was good as well. But, just our opinion was too expensive.
