- Jason (10/5): - Staff was friendly and helpful, room and facilities were clean and comfortable, view of the river and outdoor firepit exceeded expectations.
- Deborah (10/5): - Get away 2 day trip for my husband and I. We had a great time, the weather was great the hotel was beautiful. The room was clean ,there was plenty of towels. We enjoyed setting on the balcony. The staff was very friendly.
- John (10/5): - Great place
- Joni (10/5): - Was the best hotel we’ve ever stayed at !
Already planning to return !
- larry (10/5): - Facilities and staff were wonderful.
- Gayla (10/5): - Wish they still had popcorn! And buying marshmallows AND sticks there seemed cheesy.
- scott (10/5): - great place to unwind and relax and a great base camp at reasonable price with FIRST Class Amenities and staff !!!!
- Martha (10/5): - Consistently great service, great pool, phenomenal ambience, free amenities, great fireplaces, knowledgeable staff, and so much more !! We choose Stafford's Crooked River Lodge as a destination every year and have enjoyed during ANY of the seasons!
- Laurie (10/5): - Loved the big lodge feeling
- Elizabeth (8/5): - Great place
- Gary (10/5): - Great place….service and location great!
Breakfast a little disappointing…but adequate. We will stay there again!
- Leah (10/5): Nice hotel with jacuzzi tub - Beautiful hotel. We enjoyed sitting by the firepit in the evening and the jacuzzi in our room.
- Deb (10/5): - My daughter and I enjoyed our stay. The rooms were clean. The staff was helpful and friendly. We enjoyed the hot tub after a day on Machinac Island! We hope to go back!
- Norman (8/5): - This was our third stay at the Crooked River Lodge. The pleasant surroundings, friendly staff, and large, clean rooms remain the strong points. However some of the furniture in our room, although charming, was worn and probably needed replaced or refurbished.
The big disappointment was the included breakfast. When this property was owned by Staffords, one of the great pleasures of the Crooked River Lodge was its hot breakfast. Since the sale to new owners, it has been replaced by a "continental breakfast" that is no more than what you would get at any cheap, roadside chain hotel. (We noticed that they still had the hot breakfast choices posted on the wall -- perhaps a souvenir of better days?)
I hope the new management can reverse the noticeable decline in what used to be a truly extraordinary lodging experience.
- Jim (10/5): - Loved the place. Had a car issue and one of your men-failed to catch his name- was a huge help on getting us on the road. He was a lifesaver. Will highly recommend this lodge and look forward to visiting again soon.
- leah (6/5): Less with new owners - We’ve stayed at this lodge several times. This time we noticed that the hot tub was filthy- black mold around edges, concrete around pool was dirty. The good breakfast has been downgraded. Rooms were clean but rundown needing paint etc.
- Jamie (10/5): Fabulous place to stay - I just happened to find Crooked River Lodge with a Google search. The photos looked nice. It’s close to Petoskey and the price was great. It only had 2 stars which is strange because this place is phenomenal. The staff was very friendly, the accommodations more than adequate. I appreciate that the interior is charming and warm. The grounds are gorgeous and the amenities (bikes, kayaks, gas fire pit, smores accoutrements, a fish pond AND fish food). What a hidden gem. We can’t wait to return
- Denise (10/5): - This is the 2nd time we’ve been here and each time has been great! The staff are so friendly and welcoming. The grounds are beautiful as is the view from the balcony.
- Daryl (10/5): - Second time staying here. Highly recommend.
- Jennifer (10/5): - Excellent property. Very nice amenities with so much offered to the guests.
- Brian (10/5): - Crooked River is a great place, love the rooms, grounds, nature & located close to many other waterfront cities.
Staff all very welcoming & friendly & helped me arrange flower delivery for my wife for our anniversary.
Definitely will be back for another stay.
- Sandra (10/5): - Beautiful lodge in a scenic setting. The suite was very nice, and we enjoyed the view from the balcony. Very comfortable bed. The breakfast was very good, and the breakfast room attendant was very friendly. The front desk staff were courteous and helpful. The lobby area and outside sitting area with the fire pit were very nice.
- Susan (10/5): - This property was so nice and peaceful and had such a homey feel. Loved it!
- James (10/5): - Staff was very helpful and accommodating. Rooms were clean. Property was beautiful!
- Gregory (10/5): - the entire facility was inviting
- Jeff (10/5): - The staff is excellent. The lodge was very clean.
- Mark (8/5): - Very comfortable room, would definitely stay again. My only issue with the room was the shower was tight for a larger person. The location is a bit off the path but it doesn't take long to get to Petoskey or Harbor Springs from there.
- Ray (8/5): - Good value. Clean with helpful staff
- Irena (10/5): - We had fun going kayaking, swimming in the pool, and playing games! Super friendly staff and beautiful nature behind the hotel!
- Nancy J (10/5): - While the rooms are starting to need a little updating, it was clean, neat and comfortable. The property itself offered a lot to do with free kayaks, a fish pond, large yard and inside and outside fire pit. The staff was friendly and helpful. There was a nice sized pool and hot tub. Free breakfast in the morning. AND economical!
- Karen (8/5): - Crooked Rivers property and outdoor amenities were really great. Loved that they offered free biking, kayaking, and walking trails. Every room had a balcony or patio and the view was beautiful and serene. The rooms were dark and quiet for a good nights sleep. Only improvement to wish for was an update to the room interiors as they were a bit dated.
- Cris (10/5): - Sat this morning and watched the stream roll off the water. 💦 so good!
- Pamela (10/5): - Think Great Wolf Lodge without the obnoxious water park. Family friendly with indoor pool (didn't use) and spacious dock, fishing and water access. You'll have a short drive for lunch and dinner, but breakfast was good.
- Carol (10/5): Northern Michigan an enchanting experience! - Amazing outdoor scenery and amazing facility, making the trip pleasant and comfortable. Just lovely!
- Beichen (10/5): - Amazing stay! Free bike and kayak rentals, warm staff, loved all the thoughtful decorations in the hotel common areas. Continental breakfast was okay. Would recommend for all travelers
- Ashley (10/5): - My husband and I stayed with our two young kids. We loved the tranquility of the property. Loved that there was a pool and little play place for the kids at the lodge. The rooms were spacious and cozy. Everything was comfortable and quiet. It’s perfect for a getaway and close to Indian river, petoskey. Harbor springs etc.
- John (6/5): - Very nice property, room was very nice, staff was very friendly. We have been coming to this Lodge for five years, at least twice a year, we were greatly disappointed that they had eliminated their hot breakfast. The breakfast was what made the Crooked River Lodge unique, they took out the juice machine, cut back on variety of breads they had and a few other things. They no longer have mouthwash available in the rooms. New ownship has not made this better. This was a destination facility for us, we will be now be looking for a replacement due to the major let down from this trip.
- Bradley (8/5): - Been to Crooked River Lodge a few times. Always enjoyed it. Took the kids this time, they also had a lot of fun.
- Krista (10/5): We go every year! - The grounds are stunning, nice amenities- the free breakfast is great!
- Suzanne (10/5): - Gorgeous property. Very quiet. Staff incredibly friendly and helpful. View from rooms absolutely lovely. Fire pit every night and morning for coffee and s'mores, plus big stone fireplace inside between soaring windows for the view. Sweet village location for quiet visit but close to Mackinaw City, Cheboygan, Harbor Springs and Petoskey for more adventures. Kayaks and bikes onsite. Surrounded by beautiful rural countryside literally minutes away. What's not to love? We will return for sure!
- Bryce (10/5): - this place is extremely underrated. I loved every bit of it.
- WILLIAM (10/5): - Beautiful natural setting. Very peaceful.
- Kevin J. (10/5): - Enjoy the stay but the weather was unsettled.
- Donita (10/5): - Excellent place to stay! Quiet, clean, comfortable. Lots of opportunities for outdoor activities including bicycling and kayaking. Good sized rooms. Very nice pool and hot tub as well as other amenities.
- Ruthette (10/5): - It was everything I wanted in a place to stay!
- Barbara (10/5): - Nice loft area with games and pool table.
Good breakfast.
- Nicholas (10/5): - Wonderful place to stay
- Ken (10/5): - Fantastic stay! Good breakfast. Great fire out back.
- Diane (10/5): - Beautiful & comfortable
Very family friendly
Would definitely recommend
- Ray (8/5): - The next morning breakfast was lacking in variety and source. The fruit cups were bland and the individual fruit tastes were mixed together. With spring/summer, fresh fruit is plentiful. Could have a couple wait staff cut up fresh fruits and provide them on the brkfst line. Heck, I can get a 5lb. frozen mixed bag for $11 at Sam's club. There were no items that provided any protein. No yogurt, bananas, scrambled eggs.and/or sausage patties. Room was fine, the check-in staff wonderful. Was going to book another stay in July, but the brkfst sealed the deal not too. Kudos to the gas fireplace, wonderful!! The grounds are well kept and all was clean and tidy. Maybe have a few signs where the flowers are to identify as guests were interested what type. etc. You could have the local landscaper/florist place a few signs around the flower gardens. Maybe have a sign where the kayaks are to 'Use at your own risk'. I would develop a kayak 'lift' to raise up when exiting the craft and lower down when the rower is ready to push off. Watched a guest struggle to get out of the kayak, which could have been a 'fall' issue for the resort. Just my view from the 'other side'. Thanks. Ray Powers. (stayed there June 15 - Rm 211)
- Phyllis (10/5): - Very good
- Philip (6/5): - Beautiful views from all rooms based on the building layout. Large Outdoor gas fireplace is a nice feature, along with onsite walking trail.
They advertised a full breakfast, which it is not. There were no cooked eggs, bacon or sausage/ham. As such, it is a choice of only high sugar "foods" with the only exception being a fruitbowl with oranges/bananas and also boiled eggs. Since we were not interested in a sugarfest, we could not avail ourselves of the "included breakfast" and had to go up the street to "Bobs" to get what we consider a "full breakfast".
- Derek (10/5): - The atmosphere is warm and inviting. While the room décor is somewhat dated, it complements the woodsy character of the lodge and adds to its cozy, nostalgic feel. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and I would happily return.
- Christopher (10/5): - Very clean and comfortable stay. The bad thing was couldn't use pool and hot tub shut down for service
- sean (10/5): Awesome - Awesome place to stay
- Kelly (10/5): - Everything was fantastic!
- Kathryn (10/5): Perfect Getaway - We were looking for an overnight escape with a relaxing atmosphere and amenities. The Lodge did not disappoint and we really enjoyed our stay!! The coziness of the lobby and loft area were wonderful. Enjoyed sitting in the comfortable furniture and reading, playing pool and the exercise room. The breakfast was very good as well as the beverage and snack options. We can't say enough good things about our stay. We'll be back!
- Theodore (8/5): - V
- Ron (10/5): Great Stay - Our stay here was wounderful. The staff was very courteous and efficient. Our room was very clean, modern looking with a very nice color scheme. The view was nice overlooking Crooked River. I am sure it would be super fun in warmer months as there are open spaces to roam or go boating. We would definitely recommend staying here.
- Mariusz (10/5): - Great hotel, visited multiple times.
- john (10/5): - Family tradition to come to this cozy hotel during holidays. Decorated so pretty and lovely location.
- Wendy (10/5): Beautiful and Friendly - This is the 5th year we've stayed to enjoy our family Christmas tradition here. The staff is absolutely amazing! Every one is super friendly, always available for any queations, suggestions, or any help they can offer.
Every part of the inside and out is gorgeous and well maintained! The game room upstairs offers nice, relaxing family time as well.
They offer a very nice, hot breakfast daily. And also tea, water, coffee and hot chocolate all day day long in the lobby.
Sitting out back by the fire and soaking in the outdoors is wonderful and beautiful!
- Dan (10/5): - Great place
- Carlos (10/5): - There are a lot of amenities for all the ages.
- Jessica (10/5): Already excited for our return!! - Perfection!! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by Vicky who was outstanding and helpful!! Customer service was top notch and the room was very clean with an amazing view!! We are already looking forward to returning!! Highly recommend!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Retreat by the water. - Lovely spot. Restful and loved the firepit where we made new friends.
- Atra (10/5): - Beautiful scenery and friendly staff
- Heidi (10/5): - Loved it!!
- Jeff (10/5): Amazing stay - The room was great after a long drive. I sat on the balcony for awhile and then went down to the pool with the waterfall, the hot tub was relaxing, and after a hot shower in my room , sat by the fire with some of the other guests and talked till bed time.
- Brian (10/5): Great Stay - Great rustic atmosphere with the stone fireplace inside and outside gas fire pit.
The room was very spacious and had a nice balcony. Staff was helpful and nice.
We definitely recommend.
- Angela (10/5): - The Lodge was absolutely beautiful. DO NOT USE EXP3DIA!!! EXP3DIA TOOK MY MON3Y FOR THE HOTEL ROOM IMMEDIATELY ,BUT DID NOT SEND THE CONFIRMATION TO THE HOTEL until many hours later, forcing us to pay for another room just to have a place to stay for the night. I spent over an hour on hold with Exp3dia customer service, but no one ever picked up. I’ve sent requests through their online chat, and I’ve never received a response. It was an absolutely horrible experience.
- Tom (10/5): - Friendly staff, good breakfast, walk and biking paths, large firepit, easy drive to activities.
- Janice (10/5): - Great property on the river. Large room, plenty of sitting space. Beautiful fireplace on the patio in the evening.
- Patrick (10/5): - Really appreciated the complimentary activities and gear. Kayaks were great! Excellent view from room of the Crooked River.
- Kari (10/5): - Was a lovely time, the stay was wonderful, the breakfast was top! The only down was the hot tub was not hot was barely warm.
- Jennifer (10/5): - Great Place!!! Definitely will be back, actually deciding what dates to book for our next trip up north!!
- kathleen (10/5): - a lodge where you have everything there. People come to enjoy the area.
- Carol (10/5): - Very clean, friendly staff, great breakfast and personable chef.
- James (10/5): - The lodge is really beautiful. The room was much bigger than I expected. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The only thing that I didn't like was beyond their control -- the people above us whose kids stayed up until 2 am making noise. But we will definitely be back!
- Debra (10/5): - Was just there one night but it was great. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
- randy (10/5): - Overall quality staff and facilities.
- Jack (10/5): - Quiet
- Mary (6/5): - Some staff seemed snotty
