Guest Reviews
- TIMOTHY (8/5): No elevator - The Punderson Lodge does not have an elevator. You have go up one flight of stairs and then back down another half-flight to get to your room. This is major points off.
- Kelly (10/5): Merry Christmas - It was beautifully decorated for Christmas. The fireplaces were going and it felt warm and welcoming. The beds were uncomfortable. However the overall feel of the hotel overcame that 1 shortcoming. The service was very friendly and accommodating. Loved my stay
- Brian (10/5): - Second time staying here and enjoyed it just as much as the first time! It’s such a unique hotel and the location and views make it an exceptional hidden gem. I really enjoyed this visit having breakfast overlooking the lake.
- Alexandra (10/5): - The quality of the food in the restaurant is exquisite and so is the waitstaff. The hotel and guest rooms are spotless, spacious and comfortable. The warm, friendly and accommodating desk staff makes you feel welcomed and will go above beyond to help you. I would gladly recommend this lovely hotel with a 5 star rating.
- Amanda (8/5): - Very beautiful property. Breakfast staff seemed overwhelmed and frustrated but the rest of the staff was friendly. One issue was that there wasn’t an elevator made available (the room to get to it was kept locked) and we had to carry a lot up and down stairs. We were only given one roll of toilet paper for four people for two days and no extra trash bags. We had to request another roll of toilet paper and it took a couple of hours to receive. Restaurant and bar close early and vending only consists of chips and candy so not a lot of food options past 9pm. The property is also far from other restaurants and nobody would deliver while we were there. If they would stock the rooms a little better and either keep the restaurant open later or stock the vending machines better, it would have been perfect. But, overall, we had a lot of fun. Absolutely gorgeous hotel. The area around the back of the hotel and down by the dock is also really stunning.
- Melissa (10/5): - We had a great stay. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We were able to upgrade our room during check in. They even kept the pool open late so we could swim longer. We will definitely go back!!!
- James (10/5): - We were supposed to stay in the lodge but they had no hot water. Water line break, so they put us in a cabin! Yay! It was wonderful!!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Cool 4 Camping, Kinda Pricey 4 an outdated room. - I love this place! It was a little pricey for what i needed it for, but if I was planning on staying more than a night, I'd definitely appreciate & use the amenities! The 2 pools looked amazing, one inside & one out! Also, the grounds are absolutely stunning! The little cabins would be cool 2 check out & possibly stay a weekend or week with my family in one! The manor itself, is gorgeous... i read continental breakfast, which they didn't have, kinda important when traveling on business! So, that isn't a deal breaker or anything, i just enjoy knowing what to expect & then utilizing what I'm expecting 2 be there.... if that makes any sense! The rooms need an update for sure, they're clean, but for $180, on a Tuesday evening, I don't think it's unrealistic to expect a little more of an updated room... so, because I didn't stay in a cool cabin, 3.5 out of 5 stars seems fair... if they want to charge that kind of money, i could've stayed at a Hilton....
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Construction at facility, but we were aware of that before coming (received email). I’m sure changes will add to the beauty of the historical aspects of the Manor House. Beautiful area!
- Zettie McCray (10/5): Nice and peaceful - Great cabin. Area was very peaceful. Will stay again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Impressive property and surroundings. Staff is fantastic. Downside is that rooms are in need of updating. The mattress and pillows are the worst I’ve slept on.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The area is quiet and secluded. The Manor's facilities are pretty good - it's not a real fancy place, but it's clean and is a good value. The staff are exceptionally friendly.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The Boardwalk down by the lake
- Jason (8/5): Nice place, but wrong room. - Very nice place, but the cabin was not as described. Their solutions was to take some blankets and have someone sleep on the floor.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Our family loved staying in the hillside cabin. Easily accessible to the lodge, pool, boardwalk & playground. Cabin was clean and parking was conveniently located. Plenty of activities on-site to keep us occupied for the weekend. We plan on coming back again!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Everything was 1st class. Room was very clean and super nice. Ate dinner here as well. The food and service was great!
- Keenan (8/5): - Great restaurant! The food was amazing. We ate all of our meals there.
The cabin was comfortable, but the beds were too hard for our taste and the cabin had a musty odor we had to cut with candles.
Other than that, a lot to do on site and a great place to stay.
- Michelle (10/5): - Beautiful stay beautiful grounds and food was good as well. The bed could have been a little more comfortable though.
- Elizabeth (10/5): What a great getaway! - The cabin was perfect for our stay, loved sitting on the screened in porch listening to the rain and the tree frogs in the evening. The beach was a blast for the kids, even though its spring and not warm enough to swim. Lots of animal prints to discover. The playground is modern and really fun. The boardwalk was great too! We stayed one night and really wished we could have stayed longer. We cant wait to go back again.
- M. R. (8/5): -
Two adult grand children and I spent a pleasant and relaxing weekend at Punderson. I had booked 2 rooms online and had the confirmations with me. When we arrived, we were listed as one room for 2 people. The young man checking us soon fixed the problem.
The use of outside amenities such as hiking paths and several seating areas were enhanced by beautiful weather.
The dining room, which looks out over the lake, was attractive and the menu had just the right number of selections.
Rooms were spacious and comfortable.
Overall, we had a great experience.
- Jayme (10/5): Great time - All interactions with staff members were beyond pleasant. We have stayed at Punderson quite a few times and will continue to book trips there because of the cleanliness, courteous staff and wonderful accommodations. Thank you for making this and every stay so great!
- Wendy (10/5): A lovely getaway - Comfy, cozy manor with great trails to explore on the grounds and down the road.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very neat place to stay, great view and friendly staff!
- Verified traveler (2/5): - We reserved a cabin. The second room did not look like the pictures. They did move us. The cabin was filthy. The cabinets and drawers in the kitchen did not want to open they were so sticky. The fridge side was covered in rust and splashed food above the counter and a layer of thick dust from the counter down. Most likely stick due to more stickiness. The shelves in the kitchen had rust and the plastic was cracked. There was spilled coffee around the coffee maker not cleaned. The stove warming drawer was broken. The pots provided were barely big enough to cook in. There was can’t only the floor from previous guests. There were dirty socks in the bunk beds from previous guests. The cabin was disgusting and the lodge was unimpressive. The amenities were mostly not useable since it was winter. We did not use the pool.
- Angela (10/5): - The historic aspect. The place is very charming. The food was very good. The scenery is very beautiful.
- Rick (8/5): - Great areas to run or walk, XC skiing, if their is snow. Nice, cozy, relaxing place to stay, pretty decent indoor pool, too. Staff were all nice, good service and excellent dining.
- Denise (8/5): A Decent Stay - The lodge was clean and the pool was comfortable. Our cabin was clean and contained necessary items for our stay. Only a few concerns: ants in the pool locker, maintenance shoveling the snow INTO our stair path of the cabin, and Punderson staff blaming my credit card company for failing to release an incidental hold after two weeks.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Little Get away - I was able to stay somewhere close to home while feeling like I was out of town. My kids had the time of their life swimming and eating. I will be back once the snow melts.
- Pamela (10/5): - Great place to stay
- Fidel (10/5): " OUTSTANDING " !!!!! - "EVERYTHING " , I mean. " EVERYTHING " was /is SUPER CLEAN !!!!!
AN " OUTSTANDING " WEEKEND GETAWAY !!!!!!
👍👍👍👍👍
- Rob (10/5): - It has a unique and different rustic feel to it. Wish i waz able to stay longer to explore the manor and its haunted past as well as the beautiful park it is in
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The pool area was really nice. There is a lot of outdoor seating and plenty to do.
- Dan (10/5): - room was great.had asked for best room available, celebrating wife's birthday. they obliqued and acknowledged upon check-in. Andrew was awesome. everything was very clean and all staff friendly and accommodating.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Just a quiet get a way but my cabin was filthy with dirt, mold and bedding looked like it had not been changed in months...the bathroom was horrible, disgusting to no end...i had to go purchase cleaning supplies, clean and disinfect myself...i took pictures of it all...If it was clean and one of the staff members who is ignorantly rude wasnt here this place would be perfect...i asked for a different cabin but the lady go aggravated with tje situation and said we all had to leave the cabin at that moment uf i wanted to switch but i had my family and food put away so i had no time to do that which wasnt fair to me or my family...i spent 1 entire day cleaning this place and now my entire body hurts because i have lupus and i came to relax and get rest but that was impossible....
- Terese (8/5): - Room could use some updating
- Verified traveler (6/5): - I will save my remarks for in person on my next stay.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - It’s such a beautiful property. But has many issues. Overgrown weeds are out of control everywhere. The restaurant was just not good. Wine was not freshly opened either. I felt bad for our sweet waitress. I believe she was also cooking too. Room was dusty, cobwebs, water did not drain in bathtub when showering, light bulb out, and broken screens. I hope they start taking care of this place. I think they need more staff, it could be just a perfect place to vacation.
- Brian (10/5): - I was surprised how spacious the cabin was, full kitchen huge screened in porch overlooking the lake
- Jackie (10/5): - The beauty and cleanliness. The staff was amazing. Swimming pool was a plus
- Verified traveler (10/5): - beautiful and clean will be coming back in the future
- Janice (10/5): - Wonderful. Better than expected!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Loved the manor and our cabin. Enjoyed the trail along the lake. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We liked the view and beauty of the property but the beds are very uncomfortable and the walls are paper thin, we heard every noise imaginable next door. The heater was also very loud and went on and off constantly. Overall this was the worst sleep Ive had since having newborn babies.
- Heidi (6/5): - The room was not updated at all. Very cold. Did not get a free breakfast.
- Amanda (8/5): Meh. - It was fine. The restaurant was under-staffed and the food was only adequate. The mattress and pillows weren't very nice. More like I'd expect from budget accommodations. Or maybe not even quite that nice.
- Debbie (8/5): - The Manor is beautiful, my husband and I hiked one of the trails..very nice. The food is delicious, a little pricey tho. Went into Middlefield & Burton, nice day out. Overall wonderful stay, looking forward to coming back when it’s warmer.
- JoeM (8/5): - Gorgeous, serene setting. Lodge warm and cozy. One caveat is that almost none of rooms are wheelchair accessible.
- Roland (6/5): - The property needs updating and a good cleaning. The room was kind of dusty and smelled of mildew.
- Michael (10/5): - Cozy lodge with comfortable accommodations. Excellent service throughout. Enjoyed our meals at the restaurant.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Cute and clean cabin! We would definitely stay there again!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very quite setting and wonderful scenery. excellent food at the complex also, no need to go out.
- Verified traveler (8/5): So much potential. - Great location. Beautiful buildings. Superb potential for being outstanding. There are a few negatives on room and MAJOR problems with restaurant/bar. 1. Parking is at a distance in gravel lot. Front entrance was already filled with cars with no clear entry point for checking in. Wheeling suitcase was challenging. 2. No elevator to second floor. 3. Welcoming on arrival was ok, but not what I’d expect. 4. Restaurant service was terrible. Bartender was also served. He was rude, unfriendly, and acted like our presence was an imposition. 5. Food took forever to receive. 6. Food was cold upon arrival and chef acknowledged a problem occurred when he came to check on us yet no discount or fixes were offered. On checking out I asked to speak to the manager. I was told there was mine insight. My goal was to provide some helpful feefback to this new endeavor.
- Ejeh (10/5): PM Awesome - Outstanding venue. Great view lots of things to do much much better than advertised.
- FCM (10/5): - The grounds, trails, and pool were all very well-groomed and clean. The room was spacious and clean as well.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great customer service. Special shout out to Sage. He’s a great guy. Thank you
- Mark (8/5): - Great place to visit. Golf course looked awesome and in great shape (wish I had time to play a round). Only complaint I had was bar/restaurant closed about 8:15pm and staff was ready to go well before. Appetizer I had was awesome! Just wished they were open later!
- Vicki (10/5): Beautiful - Beautiful location and wonderful staff
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Wonderful getaway hideaway! Beautiful grounds and much to do. Family friendly.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great staff excellent service a hiding gem Golfing, pools, a lake
a great park quiet It was a nice stay
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Incredible setting and facilities - charming, beautiful vistas and lots for the outdoor enthusiast. Staff was friendly, beds were comfortable, shower was excellent. Restaurant in manor house is very good. I just don’t understand why they would close it at 8pm. Only the Puritans go to bed at that hour. We returned from a full day of activity at 815 and were very disappointed we couldn’t sit down to relax and get a bite to eat and a beverage. Also rooms should have microwave in addition to fridge. Makes sense. No maid ever visited our room. Disappointed in that.
- Janabatek (10/5): - The whole atmosphere was pleasant, relaxing, perfect for a getaway.
- Kathy (8/5): - I am spoiled by complimentary breakfasts, and this place didn't have that. They do have a restaurant where you can order breakfast though. Everything else was fine. We were not there at a time to use the amenities, but it looked like it would be a very fun place to come back to when the weather is good and you have time to play.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - An awesome old manor converted into a very nice hotel in a beautiful park. We’ll definitely be back.
- Karen (10/5): Loved it - First time stay here but it will not be our last. The park is amazing as well as the hotel. We ate at the restaurant and the food was very good just very limited in your choice.
- Mark (10/5): - Nice place to stay, but breakfast should be served earlier. Had to be out the door by 7:45 for work, so did not get breakfast.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was great and the place is so beautiful and the staff is nice!
- Holly (10/5): Great Stay - It was so charming and even though we went in the winter it was nice. The staff was friendly, the indoor pool was excellent, and the rooms were nice. The bed was a little uncomfortable but that would not stop me from going back. Overall excellent stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We had a great stay at Punderson Manor while we were in town for a funeral. The facility was clean and well kept. There was snow while we were there and they had the road entering into the park kept clean and accessible. Honestly, I wish I had more time to explore the lodge and surrounding area. I hope I can bring my family back some time when we can spend more time. I bet the summer months would be beautiful.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - perfect get away to break up winter. the cabins were amazing
- Brandon (10/5): Great family trip choice - This was our second stay. The cabins are wonderful for us to come stay with our children. The lodge and park are beautiful and the cabins are clean and comfortable.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Our heat went out in our room, they moved us and gave us a credit for the move. Property is beautiful!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very nice lodge, though a little odd of a layout to get to our room. Comfortable stay, and understanding staff - as I was staying for a family funeral service over the weekend.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This resort is absolutely CHARMING! Jan checked us in and she is a sweetheart! The property is beautiful with the snowfall this time of year. We stayed here for a work conference taking plave close by. We weren't able to explore but we will definitely be returning!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very quiet, very peaceful. Winter scenes add a different feel than the busy summer. Manor house has wonderful fires in the lounge and gift shop.
Staff is wonderful
- Sam (8/5): - It was very unique and romantic. Beds we're a bit small and pillows flat. Restaurant was good with a wonderful view
- Teal (10/5): - Wonderful in cold November to see a roaring fire straight ahead as you enter the manor lodge lending a great first impression. Being able to view
the lake added to the peaceful & comfortable experience. All staff was
courteous & personable. Even after getting back home & calling to ask
about charges as I couldn't find my receipt, Stacey was more than
accommodating. Thank you to all!
- Stacey (6/5): - The room was dirty, the bed was really hard and the walls are so thin I was about to go buy the guy next door some cough drops. UGH!!!
- Tara (10/5): - This was the first time staying in the cabins at Punderson. They were very nice. My husband, son and I would stay there again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Loved everything about this place and the staff was beyond sweet however I did not like that they did not have any ramps or elevators for the guests so I had to drag all of my heavy luggage up and down stairs
- Cheri (10/5): - This place is really nice. The rooms are nice. The bathroom was beautiful and really clean.
When you come in there is an entrance area and straight ahead is a very large fire place. They have rocking chairs in front of the fireplace that you can relax in. The bar is right there beside that area as well.
The dining room area is nice. We had a nice view of the lake and outdoor areas when we ate. We got in later and didn't have the opportunity to do anything around the outside of the property. It was also cold that day and they had made up the first fire of the season.
The staff was nice and pleasant.
- Dale (10/5): - Very nice hotel, lots on nice hiking trails. The hotel also had a very clean warm indoor pool.
- Melissa (10/5): - Beautiful view
Lovely and comfortable cabin
I think that some of the past guests have taken pots and pans the selection is limited
- Joe&Christie (8/5): - Property is beautiful & includes a lakeside board walk. The ambience is great, its clean and the staff is friendly. The dining room overlooks the lake as do outdoor sitting areas. Menu choices are limited but the food is very good. We will definitely stay again.
- Griff4 (10/5): - Nice accommodations, room comfortable, only thing was no tissues in room
- JJ (10/5): - Room was clean, air conditioning and heating worked, had a nice view of the lake, beds were very comfortable. Will visit again the rate is very affordable.
JJS Mentor, Ohio
- Damon (10/5): Yep - Beds were kinda uncomfortable, but everything else was awesome
- Damon (10/5): - Everything was aewsome, the only thing that was a bothersome was the pillows and beds, I felt springs from the bed all threw my back and pillows where kinda uncomfortable. Besides that everything else was awesome, service, staff, loved the bathroom, ect!! Thank you very much.
- Melisa (10/5): - Very peaceful
Staff always pleasant
cabins are very clean and comfortable, love looking at the lake
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Skip the breakfast buffet. Not worth it. Food was mostly prepared the day before or longer. No toast. Orange juice was an extra cost.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - What a splendid manor! We were hoping for a decent room late at night, and we found Punderson. The 6 of our guests slept extremely comfortably. In the morning we were able to sip coffee on the screened porch, walk on the boardwalk, and take a dip in the lake. The indoor and outdoor pool were also available to us. 5 stars!
- Brandon (10/5): - Front desk staff is amazing. Cabins are well-appointed and immaculate. We’ll need two regular bunk beds next stay, but the kids made it work!
- Jason (10/5): Very nice - It is a very nice Hotel. The scenery is beautiful. All the employees were very nice. It was an excellent time
- Alice (6/5): - The cabins need updating. The coffee maker took 45 minutes to make a pot of coffee. The door to the porch does not lock and the door knob is ready to fall off.
- D (4/5): - Not very liking to black people . I needed directions to the pool and instead of just getting simple directions to the pool. They questioned if i was staying there even though i told them and showed them the wrist band. Smh. This place is not black friendly
- Jeff (10/5): Dated - It was nice to have our own space. The cabin is dated and needs a good cleaning. Cupboards were sticky and some of the dishes we had to rewash as they were not clean. Overall the stay was good and the kids loved the outdoor pool and the park.
- Timothy (6/5): Drunken disaster! - So we booked a room in the lodge but ended up in a cabin. When we arrived there were people everywhere and most were drunk. Around 2:00am a drunk couple was on our pourch banking around and trying to get in our cabin. Worst part was we had to get up at 5:00am for a 100 mile bicycle ride and we had little to no sleep!
- Kelly (8/5): - Beautiful Hotel and grounds. Friendly staff. “Best burger ever” according to my fiancé.
- Martha (10/5): - This hotel is inside a State Park with a beautiful lake where you can fish, swim, rent or bring your boat, huge indoor and outdoor pools and beautiful views to the lake, they have s’more kits and fire place rentals. It’s an historical place where many things can be learned, everyone is so nice and rooms are comfortable and clean.
Very well maintained place.
Great place for family or romantic getaway weekend and great for events.
- Chris (10/5): Relaxing and quiet - This lodge was older than i expected, but nice. Its an Ohio Parks Lodge and in the Ohio Parks, so the drive to the lodge was beautiful. Once inside the door you can see the grand fire place burning. then off to the right is registration where there was a warm fireplace going also and another in the Cherry Dining Room. As soon as you walk in you will feel relaxed and welcomed. Our room was very nice, 2 double or queen beds(not sure), nice tv, desk, and a separate area for the bathroom and bedroom! Nice! Indoor pool looked nice and felt warm but we did not have time to swim this trip. No hot-tub though...bummer! Word of caution about this place .......is there are a lot of steps! Also, i had no idea before i went there that there was a ghost at Punderson Manor! Not sure that i would of went! But i did not see the ghost. But they say if you stay in the old part of the manor you could. We were in the new part.
Thank GOODNESS!!!!!!!
- Verified traveler (2/5): Do not go on Sunday night - The pool was good but when you get out of the pool it felt like they turn the air conditioning on they told me they turn the heat off because not to many people come in on Sunday I was freeze all the way to my room, I took a hot shower then went to the bar but there was no bartinder because it was on Sunday they did not tell me that when I book it do not go Sunday
