Beatrice (1/5): - We used to love staying there We made a reservation in April for the middle of May. When we got there it was closed and being demolished. The building they booked us in wasn't even going to be open for two more weeks. We never got notified and only found out when my husband found a phone number on the office door. The person he talked to was rude and said sorry you'll have to find somewhere else to stay. Thankfully we hadn't paid for the room yet and were able to find other accommodations for almost double the cost! Very disappointed! We've been going here for the last 4 years.

Alison (3/5): - We liked the proximity to the beach. We didnt like the fact that we booked this hotel for their indoor pool and sauna facilities and spa bath. Unfortunately after we booked we found out that the pool and sauna were closed. Apparently their were renovations. The site looked like a post apocalypse movie site and the cliff face is severely eroding up to 50 feet away from the buildings. We thought we might find our building on the beach in the morning. The site was dangerous. We will never stay there again. Booking should have known about this.

Natasha (7/5): Nothing would stop me from booking here again to have a place to stay while enjoying a little getaway with my loved ones - The views are absolutely beautiful, the room was affordable and provided necessary accommodation for our evening away. The staff were absolutely lovely and made it easy to check in and out. It had some run-down parts of the property including long hairs painted over on the walls, nothing horrible just sort of unsightly. The bed is really squishy and maybe not the best if you have a bad back, but it was okay. The shower got cold about 5 minutes after getting into it during the morning.

Stacey (1/5): The staff was sick and exposed us with our compromised immune systems. - After 4 days back and forth with booking.com and the hotel that we never stayed at we finally got our money back! When we walked in to check in with our special needs kiddos that were so excited about the pool they told us they were having water issues in the pool and the sauna was broken and had been for over a month. The lady at the front desk was coughing so hard that she threw up. With our compromised immune system it is very crucial that we are not around anybody that is sick. And I'm pretty sure that's what made us very sick and hospital visits when we got home to be honest with you. Also between booking and the hotel itself it took 4 days before our money to be put back onto my Bank because they would not release it from the hotel according to booking

The door track of the sliding glass door was filthy inside the room. It could use a coat of paint on the inside of the room to make it feel more clean.

Aimee (6/5): - We got an upgraded ground floor room. It was very spacious with a large family area, 2 queen beds in seperate bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The electric fireplace was a nice touch. The beds were comfortable. One of the bathtubs was nice and deep and perfect for soaking in. The view and beach access was great. The pool was freezing and the greenhouse type building it was housed in was freezing also.

Go51368998580 (2/5): RODENT FECES/NO AMENITIES - BEWARE! The website and every booking site have incorrect information on amenities and pictures. RODENT ISSUES! Rodent feces covered the shelf in the cabinet! Health hazard! Only amenities were ice cold pool and possibly a sauna, to disappointed to check. No bar/restaurant, closed permanently, no Jacuzzi, completely removed, broken fire pit, roped off outside seating area, jetted tubs had bath fitters installed so no jetted tub and very outdated photos of the rooms. No one answers the phone, no one returns emails. I booked this for my daughter's birthday, thought I was being nice sending her and my grandson's to the beach for the weekend, was I mistaken, only thing that was enjoying was watching the sunset when they arrived, after entering the hotel it became a different story. They were to tired to go elsewhere that night since it was dark and they just drove 5 hours. Had to move them first thing next morning to different hotel since no answer or response from hotel. They offered 25%discount for the false advertisement and rodent feces in the room! I asked for a refund for the second night that was not used. Still waiting and it's almost a week later. They won't even respond to Priceline. I had to file a claim with my financial institution and BBB also a complaint with their county health department.
adamaE3453BB (2/5): no restaurant, no bar, no hot tub - The hotel's own website and third party website claim they have an onsite restaurant and bar, a hot tub, a fitness room, and a laundry room. These are all lies. No food of any kind is available during your stay not even vending machines, The hotel has none of these amenities either. Their restaurant has been closed for over one year now and they refuse to correct this misinformation. The manager just claims that it is out of their control and they can't get it corrected. You can't believe that. They can easily make a few phone calls to correct it. Especially over one year later and they still refuse to do so. They want to get business so they advertise these amenities to look attractive. They have an indoor heated pool, but no hot tub. The fireplace in the room is also broken. The laundry room and fitness center have also been closed for a long time but are still on booking websites. The rooms have no carpet. I walked around in just my socks and they were disgusting since the floor was never mopped between guests, it was just swept. The beds were comfortable and the water was hot for showering. The ocean view is amazing and is the only thing going for it. Just be aware that the hotel is not full service. I'm told the hotel will be torn down soon since the ocean is eating away the hillside just below where the rooms are.

Kathleen (6/5): Amazing value for a two bedroom suite with a true ocean view. - For an ocean view room, you can't beat the price! The bed was comfortable and clean, and the points of contact in the bathroom were clean as well. It was nice to have the DVD player in the room, and although we didn't use the video rental service or check out books from the lobby, it was nice to have that as an option. Although we didn't use it, the fire pit area looked really nice and inviting. I know the hotel is set for a re-do, but clear explanations were given of what amenities were no longer available. I knew pretty well what to expect when we arrived. I would stay here again. Staff members were friendly and helpful. I know the hotel is set to be torn down, so I was not expecting the moon and stars. That being said, these are the things that I think could maybe be addressed while the current building stands. The lightbulb in our kitchenette area flickered until the bulb warmed up. A bulb replacement will give a better first impression. The upholstery on the furniture could do with a steam cleaning (dark spots from hands on the chair arms). When the entry door is closed, you can see daylight through the gap between the door and the frame. I felt sufficiently safe during our visit, as other guests were not rowdy or ill-behaved, but the door didn't exactly seem secure. The seat on one of the dining chairs completely came off when we moved the chair. Again, simple fix, most likely, and I'm not sure it was anything that could have been prevented. The only thing that could have been a real problem was that we had requested (and, I thought, granted) a ground floor room), but we were given a second floor room. It ended up not being an issue, as our 3rd guest who needed the ground floor canceled on us. And, maybe if we had asked, the room may have been available. But, I had expected that to be ready to go upon arrival. That being said, however, I would stay here again, as the room was clean and affordable and we had a nice stay.

Trina (2/5): Not at all as advertised. - The beach was great I’d like to be contacted by booking.com as the hotel wasn’t as advertised and there were significant issues that didn’t match the cost. Window to see ocean had the seal of the window broken so the cloudy glass made the ocean unable to be seen. Room was musty moldy and I wouldn’t take a bath as it was deep dirty. Rusted windows that opened out, but wouldn’t prevent someone from coming in, but the smell warranted them open continually.

Steve (5/5): Enjoyed the ocean view and sounds. Slept well. - View from room/balcony. Jacuzzi. There was mold, dirt and rust stains in areas of the bathroom. No towel bars. The cabinet that housed the Fridge, TV, Microwave and 3- storage drawers Was about to collapse. It was severely bowed across the top and bottom. It was a safety hazard waiting to happen. Plus, it looks like whoever moved this unit into the room dragged it across the floor from one side of the room to the other leaving heavy black scratches on the floor. For a King Size Bed, we got 4- couch pillows basically. Pillows were too small if wanting to sit up in bed and have some back support. Asked for more but couldn't get any. The grounds around the parking lot were dirty, and against curbs were mounds of cigarette butts. I initially chose Surfrider because it was a little bit cheaper than most, so I think I'll buck for cleaner place next time.

Rebekah (5/5): An okay stay. Friendly staff, but the floors were gross. The view was nice and the beach quiet. - The view was wonderful from the deck. And having a clean bathtub for the kids was really nice. The floors were really dirty and needed swept and mopped. The floor had a sticky residue that turned our shoes and feet black. The washer and dryer were out of order, we desperately needed laundry washed, but unable to do so. And there was no (or if there was an obvious) foot wash for after coming up from the beach. The bed also had a deep spot from where others slept.

Corrie (5/5): Run down facilities & not super clean - The location was great! There was dog hairs in both beds -all throughout the bedding. There is a fireplace heater that gets extremely hot to touch with no signage. My 6 year old burned some of her hair standing in front of it.. the pool is covered by a greenhouse - it’s pretty cold in there, but the kids really enjoyed the pool.
Joyce (1/5): The people above and the floors were so loud and you could hear everyone in every room. Awful! - The location was good and the deck overlooking the ocean was nice. It was really rundown but the worst part was that you could hear the people upstairs moving and walking in the floors were creaking and they were moving furniture and the people next-door you can hear the television. It was like living with 15 people. We actually left early because it was so loud we couldn’t even hear ourselves think. I emailed and asked to get a room on the top floor but I never received a response. For $221 a night it was a rip off!

Redwillie69 (2/5): Don’t waste your money - We cancelled after walking around the property and throughout the office area several weeks before our reservation. . Place is a dump now. Used to be really nice. Save your money and go elsewhere. It does not appear there is any maintenance or upgrades being done anywhere on the property.
