Guest Reviews
- Robby (4/5): - Lady at the front desk was rather rude. Room didn't have hot water, just luke warm, sink and shower. Went to the desk and there was never anyone around. Whole place was rather dark and dank. Had to figure out how to work the shower, the mechanism was broke. I won't be staying here again!!
- Darrell (2/5): - Staff was professional
- Dawn (4/5): - Area
- Sabrina (10/5): - Staff is great
- Tammy (8/5): Event Trip - I just needed a place for an overnight stay for a meeting. It met my criteria. I was not given the wi-fi password and didn't go looking once I got to my room but it's so close to the McDonalds in the parking lot that I just used theirs. Breakfast was coffee and muffins but again, McDonalds shares a parking lot. Clean and comfortable. Will stay again.
- David (10/5): Coinvent and spotless - I really like this hotel and I really like the family that owns or runs it. They are very nice, professional, and at the same time have a great sense of humor.
- Nathan (10/5): - Good
- Nathan (10/5): - *
- Linda (4/5): - Very dirty. Curtains were covered in dust. Floors were dirty. Bathroom sink area needed wiped. Tub parts were missing.
- Sabrina (10/5): - Owners are so nice and friendly
- John (4/5): - I found a couple of recording devices in the room which I removed. They looked like cell phone chargers without the cables. I was also told I needed to give them my full credit card number, experation and security code for the card used on Expedia. I refused and it wasn't pushed by the staff. Beds were u comfortable. The rooms looked ok but you can see where the remodeled was very sloppy.
- Katherine (6/5): - The hotel met my needs, but I don’t know that I would stay here unless absolutely necessary.
- Karen (6/5): - Clean and simple. If you’re just looking for a place to sleep-it’s no frills and fits the bill.
- Raymond (4/5): - No hotel breakfast. Not even coffee.
- reidh2018 (2/5): Do Not Even Consider - OMG, I cannot beleive that Hotels.com gave this pit a good recommendation, now trying to get my $500 back. Walking into the lobby is like going into the jailhouse, cameras, desk to ceiling protective plexiglass shield and dirty, really dirty. I was shocked. I have stayed in hostels in SEA that are better, and the smell of weed was just too much. Unfortunately it is the only place to stay within 16 miles, don’t just go down the highway and deal with the drive.
- Stay60218570604 (2/5): Over priced room with mold in the air window units - As soon as entering our room you could smell mold. Upon looking around the hotel room the air window unit was covered in mold. The room also was lacking a fridge. Took pics took some the management and asked for refund and the lady behind the desk said she couldn’t get in touch with her manager so she couldn’t give us a refund. Not worth the money at all.
- Dominique (4/5): - It was ok besides the dead cockroach in our room .... i guess better dead right?
- Verified traveler (4/5): Needs a total renovation to facility and operation - From pictures it appeared a nice place to stay. Wrong!
Lobby was not inviting, had to ring a bell for service, no warm greeting from the attendant, and we still had not seen the room. The bed was clean, water was hot, and the TV worked. There were no channel listings for the TV, no tissues (one extra roll of TP), no clock, and no coffee pot! The upholstered chair was filthy. Water dripped in the tub all night. At check-out, the attendant was not present, but came to the desk in pajamas and messy hair. And this cost $123. Don't think we will stay there ever again.
- Kim (6/5): - I booked a room for 2 Adults and 2 Children, I asked the front desk a female for extra pillows because the pillows were very flat and uncomfortable. She was very unfriendly and nasty and said there 4 pillows on the bed 4, 2 per bed. I explained to her that the pillows were very flat. She was very hesitant and gave me 1 pillow and said how many people in the the room. I told her four and she asked me did the manager know that. Room was very clean. Bed’s were hard
- stacyi263 (4/5): Interesting stay - First, the hotel must be under new management because it looks like it's going through a change. Second, the rooms were not up to par. The phones didn't work, there was only 2 sets of towels in each room, the sheets and pillows were worn and almost used looking, the vent in our bathroom was dusty and hanging from the ceiling, and there was no extra toilet paper or face tissue in there at all. Third, the rooms and fridge were both hot when we got there and didn't smell the best either. The only good things about this experience is that there were food options close as well as other little shopping centers, we could get extra towels, the air worked, and they had an extra room for us to get on short notice. Wouldn't want to stay again unless I really had to, or it gets updated
- Andrea (10/5): - In my opinion, the lobby area could be made a little brighter by the removal unnecessary debris and the repositioning of oversized plants.First impressions are so lasting. Nevertheless, my guest and I enjoyed our stay.
- Stan (6/5): - limited services, no ice bucket in room. Beds not made up on 2nd day. Someone banging on our door at 9pm.
- Melvin (10/5): My stay - Very peaceful. Enjoying
- Sarah (4/5): Deceiving pictures - Pictures indicated breakfast would be served, but it was not. Parking lot doesnt accommodate for a trailer, so har to park down the hill from hotel.
- Mary (2/5): - Desk clerk shuffled out,no hello,no welcome...poor first impression!
Wanted to bathe but had no plug:
...clerk said "no one ever takes a bath" but suggested that I stuff it with a washcloth...
Room next to ours had at least 6-8 folks, tv blaring, music playing and lots of vulgar LOAD. I tried to call the desk..
Phone didn't work... discovered that is was not plugged into the wall.
I had to go knock...twice....to ask them to stop.
In the morning there was no coffee; clerk .. different than first clerk explained that the pot was broken...and he thought that was a "good reason".
Beware of any of business that can't replace the coffeemaker.
Did I mention?? dirty sheets??. Postage stamp sized soap???.
Looks like one more start-up starting down.
- Melissa (4/5): - House keeping staff was rude, pounding on my door and shouting about check out as I was on a business call.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Bargain for travel sports - The room was basic, but seemed clean. Very little toiletries provided.Could use a few more pillows. Suits our need for a place to stay for tournaments. Overall, it was a bargain compared to other places in the Richmond area.
- Elizabeth (6/5): - Beds were slightly uncomfortable but okay. it would be nice if the shower had some non skid and bathroom floor tile was less slippery
- dataniel (8/5): - A few shops near.
- John (8/5): - The property is not updated but it is very clean. Vending machines in lobby do not work. Boxes of new beds are stacked and stored in the lobby. There are no phones in the room nor a coffee maker. If you're looking for the basics as i do it fits the bill. It sits in a strip mall with restaurants, grocery and more
- Judith (10/5): - It was a very clean and comfortable room!
- Discover40987555051 (2/5): Sad place. Hope to never stay here again. - I stayed here in the fall of 2022 and now I need to go back to the area but I definitely hope to find someplace else to stay. I saved some pics of this experience for a while, but must have deleted them at some point. Outside my window sat a broken microwave on the sidewalk the entire 3 days I was there. Also, the coffee maker in the lobby said it was 'getting repaired,' but it clearly had been out of commission for quite some time. The lamp next to my bed didn't work so I took a light bulb out of another lamp and put it in the socket, but the light still didn't work. No one cleaned my room all 3 days. The bath towels were pitiful and worn so thin you could almost see through them and two of mine did in fact have holes worn in them. My overall impression was someone bought this place for revenue and planned to simply run it into the ground. The owners (or managers) do live there, so I'm guessing it's just some sort of temporary solution for them. I may have to drive further each day for my business, but I'm going to keep looking for another option this time, maybe even in a 20 mile radius.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - There wasn't coffee or any breakfast. Sheets and blankets were stained. Mini fridge in the room had rust on the top. There wasn't anything in room to locate local food and attractions.
- Andrew (2/5): - No coffee. No coffee maker. Luke warm water at best. Property smelled. Rooms dirty. TV broken.
- Sheila (8/5): - A quiet place to stay with the convenience of a small shopping center to walk to. Had clean towels everyday. Would stay there again.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Drive the extra miles for somewhere else - Non-working TV, no coffee in room or lobby and no breakfast (owner referred us to the McDonald's next door), sheets paper thin and had to beg for towels. Since it's the only motel within 30 miles they don't have to make an effort, and they don't.
- Yolanda (6/5): - Hotel room was dirty and had a smell of mold and mildew
- Shantol (4/5): - Place was a mess.
- Matthew (4/5): - Floors were nasty needing cleaned gritty
- Lynda (4/5): - There was a pair of men's underwear in the hallway in the2nd floor. No coffee in the lobby, lamps not functional in room.
- Christopher (4/5): - Wasn’t the best for comfort but it was cheap
- Lisa (10/5): - Staff friendly, clean.
- Tammy (6/5): - The rooms are big enough & furnished nice. The pillows are full of stains.., the towels are ckean..but rough. The mattress pad is stained. . No hair dryer was an inconvenience..all motels furnish a hair dryer. No coffee anywhere in the room or on the property. I get that McDonalds is across the property..but you have get dressed, go get coffee, & come back to room ..much nicer to wake up, get coffee, and plan the day before having to get dressed & go out
- Jessica (2/5): Beyond gross. Do not book. Trust me. - This was by far the most disguising property I have ever booked. Walking it I felt as if it was rent by the hour establishment and let’s say it didn’t get any better.
- Hair on the sheets.
- Unreceptive to switching rooms.
- Dirty commonly touched areas.
- URINE ON THE TOILET seat.
I walked out and did not stay.
Hotels.com tried to get me a refund but the property refused. The rep I had was great - not their fault but I’d wish they’d assess the properties they have on their site.
I will be reporting them to the better business bureau and anything else I can find to make sure no one else experiences what I did.
- DIONNA (2/5): - Did not stay Alex Patel said reservations cancellation was complete. however money was taken. Also contacted booking.vom.
- Harmon (2/5): - This property is a dump. Mattresses are stacked at the back door outside, disregarded pallets laying behind the building, grass has grown up around the rear of the building, old lamps sitting outside of dumpsters. I looked at two rooms with Jolly the owner and they were not clean, walls needed paint, and furniture was was in need of repairs.
- Ronesha (2/5): - Staff went in my room while I was in the shower asking me if I’m checking out although I booked for two nights and this was only after one night. Also went I’m my room when I wasn’t there and stole my food out the refrigerator & my prescribed medicine
- olga (2/5): - Watch out they have bed bugs on the walls and beds . Bedding does not look clean or smell at all
- Johnny (10/5): - Was in a great location for my visit with family and has quick access to grocery, pharmacy and food businesses.
- Michael (2/5): - At first glance the hotel looked pretty good for that price point. Freshly painted and newer carpet throughout. There is a reason for their no refund policy however. Once you look closer at the room you’ll see the lack of attention to cleanliness. Bathroom shower had molded grout, rusty fixtures but worst of all, our bed had been made but the sheets not changed. They were threadbare and covered in long black hair. The manager could have cared less when I brought the sheets down to him for fresh ones. No apologies or concern about it. I would not recommend this hotel.
- Z6344JAmartins (2/5): Filthy - All three pillows on the bed had long human hair on them and the pillows were riddled with yellow stains. The bathroom towels were extremely thin and stained. Couldn't stay there and could not get our money back. It is a scam with the 3rd party Reservations.com that you book through on the hotel's website. It makes it look like you are booking direct but you are booking through what I think is a company in India. Called three times to get my money back because the hotel was not fit to stay in and all they say is "they are researching it with the hotel". Both businesses are scams.
- Regina (2/5): - Telephone in room didn't work. Towel and bathing amenities were very limited. Curry like Odor /Smell in facility is really overbearing. Needs a lot of updating.
For just sleep and bathing is fine but would NEVER stay there again if longer than one night.
- Alexis (6/5): Clean hotel - The exterior property, hotel lobby and our room were all spotless. Staff were polite and efficient. The mini fridge in the room was already cold and the air conditioning had cooled the room. The facility does have a distinct smell (possibly a spice or incense) that is not unpleasant but is fairly strong. We stayed one night. The outlets in the room are all used by the appliances and electronics, so only one plug-in was available to use. That was difficult with multiple phones and computers. Not all of the lights in the room worked but enough did to sufficiently light the room.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The clerk had difficulty finding the reservation.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The bed was comfortable. The A/C worked well. We had a noisy neighbor on our first night. Otherwise, very comfortable.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - A simple and comfortable hotel for an overnight stay. We traveled to the area for a single-night stay prior to an outdoor archery tournament. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and clean. It's very close to several restaurants, and we were able to walk to dinner.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Dirty entrance, dingy room, no frills, no breakfast.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - I was disappointed with the price I paid because there was less than half a roll of toilet paper and no tissues in room.
- 109tayy (2/5): Roach motel - We were not even there one hour before we saw roaches when we went to complain to the front desk they were very rude and the first thing she said was no refunds and refused to move us to another room also refused to compensate us in any type of way I’ve never visit here again I suggest you don’t waste your money and time with this dump hole and staff
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The room was not clean, bedside lamps did not work, shower temperature lever did not work, no coffee maker. The positive was a comfortable bed and tv was good. I wouldn’t stay here again or recommend it.
- andovermeadow (8/5): Poor reviews unfair - I was worried about this reservation based on the reviews...and was pleasantly surprised. Super friendly front desk staff bent over backwards at every opportunity to assist. My room was clean and comfortable. Bathroom clean and plenty of hot water. Microwave and frig super clean and operated well. Bed and sheets spotless. The only negative was that there is a smell of curry in the lobby and elevator but once to the room , no issues. McDonalds, drug store, and Chinese right across parking lot was very convenient for my stay and business trip.would stay again. Owners wife even leant me an umbrella during pouring rain to go get my dinner!
- Gabbyla1 (2/5): Horrible experience - The staff were so rude to us. They forgot that they had us staying in this room and then someone walked into our room when we were sleeping. They do not change the sheets. There are stains on the sheets and also someone’s hair on and underneath my pillow. I am definitely not coming back to this hotel.
- unknown853 (2/5): DUMPHOLE👍🏾 - the hotel visit was terrible they had roaches, the ceiling was closing in, the towels had brown spots, the white sheets were brown, the heater vent was smoking, the workers are lazy and rusty. They just need to shut the whole damn hotel down this was ridiculous. WHERE TF IS MY REFUND ?
- marmasu (6/5): Breakfast area not clean during the week - Stayed 6 days at this hotel overall fine with the exception of the breakfast area. Weekend was fine but during the week, tables filthy, serving area dirty, waste cans overflowing. The person responsible for meal prep watching her iphone tv instead of cleaning or assuring food or drinks are available. Poor supervision.
- LoganMarvel (6/5): Dirty - We found blood on our sheets. There were also crumbled oreo cookies in the room. The family that ran the hotel was very nice though. They took care of all of our problems immediately. The room was expensive for what you got though.
- angiet337 (2/5): Just plain Nasty - Upon walking into the room I thought maybe not too bad until I pulled back the comforter on the bed there were hair on the pillows was obvious the sheets had not been changed probably in a while bathroom was still dirty and disgusting I actually slept in the chair at the desk will never return here ever again
- 630yolandab (4/5): Auntie Emm, we're not in Econolodge anymore😞 - Disappointed, big difference from yrs ago when they were part of E'lodge. First of all, I got a partially English runaround 2 of the 4 times I had to call just to get a confirmed reservation (After Expedia tried to overcharge me for the same room and didn't email Amelia Inn the res. notification) Then we arrived, non fresh smell, 1 English speaking team member, dusty curtains, remnants of mold on sills, stains in ceiling of bathroom, duvet not the cleanest, no hangers, no breakfast or not even the coffee they promised, poor room service, bent shower curtain, marijuana smells in bathroom vent, but comfy bed...they still have comfy beds!!! yay. Needless to say we were there for another special family event down the road and this place has gone down. Sad really, I really liked this place and don't know why they...well I guess there is still hope for improvement.
- 616naomib (2/5): No rooms at the Inn - We were going to a wedding and I booked two rooms on two separate sites and when we got there, they didn't have either reservation. There answer was oh well you'll have to call who you booked the rooms through we don't have any rooms. Very impolite about it and didn't offer to help. We were suppose to go to a rehearsal dinner, but never made it trying to find another place to stay. My cousin who lives around there told us Thank goodness you didn't get a room there. We heard they rent rooms by the hour.Don't book this motel whatever you do find anything else!
- bontendre (2/5): A complete dump - We recently moved to Amelia from out of state and needed a place to stay with husband and 2 kids the night before closing. We were suoer excited wanted to stay as close as possible. It is dark and dreary, out dated, no breakfast, foreign staff unclear English, overpriced. The bed was so uncomfortable my kids didnt even sleep well.
- sevensfine (4/5): Not Econolodge anymore. - In disrepair and not as clean as we are used to. We had a room next to the water heater/maintenance room. Very loud ticking and drip noises not to mention the un-fastened headboard which rattled the wall each time you rolled over. Not even coffee in the lobby in the morning. The 2 was given since the staff were respectful when discussing our refund for the second night. It has potential but cleaning needs to become the priority.
- taowens75 (6/5): Great hotel with poor service - My boyfriend and I loved our hotel room here, but the service was lacking. There was only one lady that could speak English and she was very rude. We tried to talk to another worker but she had to yell for the one lady because she couldn't understand us. Also, the man that works here was very creepy and starred at me and made me feel uncomfortable. But personally, I thought the hotel itself and the room were very nice.
- joshtex (2/5): This place is a dump!!!! - If you like being overwhelmed with the constant smell of Curry, mothballs and fried Onions, by all means, book your stay. This IS NOT an Econolodge. I travel for a living and have stayed at some bad places but, the Amelia Inn & NO Suites, takes the cake. The rooms are dirty, the towels are old, and the sheets are very well used. I can't believe this place is still in business. An air mattress in the back of a minivan would have been more accommodating. Oh yeah, before I forget, seeing the owners father sitting in the ONLY chair in the lobby watching me walk in, through his Kermit The Frog Muppet eyes, while picking his bare feet, as I checked in, was when I knew this was going to be a VERY interesting experience.
- punkyspiderman (2/5): Super Cheap Hotel with Poor Service - I booked four rooms at this cheap hotel for the family to stay at for a graduation. All phone calls leading up to our arrival time was great customer service, but once we arrived the bullet proof glass and attitude we received was unnecessary. I understand its cheap and it won't have a lot of things going for it, but the rudeness was a surprise. The day of I had to pay for the rooms before we arrived otherwise I would lose my reservation. They also refused to split the bill, so I had to pay for all four rooms on one card. A few family members arrived at the hotel before I did but were not given a room, because I was not present even though they knew the reservation was under my name. If the front desk just called or told me about these issues before hand a lot of the frustration could have been avoided. When I tried to mention this in a polite way I was met with a cold shoulder. Good costumer service is apart of a good business, so my family and i will not be returning for another stay. I would rather pay double the price else where and feel welcomed.
- Aggy43 (2/5): Run away fast! - No longer the Econo Lodge, now the Amelia Inn & Suites. This place is a joke and definitely not worth the money. Owners barely speak English, the one checking me in was unfriendly. Rooms are dated, bathroom was not the cleanest. The bleach smell on the sheets was really strong. I ended up sleeping on the blanket. When I complained the next morning I found the front desk person to be rude, unfriendly, and uncaring. Will never stay here again and most certainly will not recommend it.
