Guest Reviews
- Charles (5/5): Below average - Expensive for what you got
- Nathan (4/5): Hotel was very expensive. Room was clean. Area was dodgy. - Room was nice and had plenty of amenities, like towels, soaps, and refrigerator. When I arrived, a guy was sitting on the bench next to the front entrance and he ask me for money. This immediately gave my a negative vibe about the area I was in and the security of the building and my car.
- Mees (9/5): Overall met my expectations. - Fine. I was visiting my son who lives in Marion. I might have preferred something closer to his residence. I wanted to get into my room early and was refused.
- John (7/5): Served the purpose for a business stay - No milk for the cereal. No employees around to help. Otherwise, sausage and eggs were great see prior comments
- K2518JCbradd (2/5): Will not be back - Locked out of room at 11pm maintenance got us in approx 1 am and then we had to switch room. New room ac was so loud wife unable to sleep. next morning out of coffee and breakfast generally unstocked. Front desk said I would have to talk to manager, she would have him call me. I have yet to hear from him and he has not responded to my email yet either.
I have stayed at this location numerous times but will not be back

- Hila (8/5): Overall it was a good stay - Was in a great area and the room was clean Their vending machine was out of order and they had very small varieties of snacks at the front desk and the prices were very high

- C. (8/5): -
- LaTosha (7/5): - In the pictures on booking it shows a hot tub but they in fact do NOT have a hot tub it was the main reason I booked this place honestly!! Me and my daughter were disappointed. Make sure you go to the properties ACTUAL website b4 booking.
- Marisa (10/5): Comfy beds with great guest service - The guy who worked the front desk was very helpful and listened to my concerns and also helped me with directions. He was very knowledgeable and very nice. I wish I got his name. The bed was very comfortable and my room was clean. I thought property had a hot tub like in the pictures and it did not.
- 784craigl (10/5): Carbondale Choice ++++ - Very clean facility - very friendly and helpful staff. Special parking for Gold and up members. Culvers across the road a plus
- krp342 (6/5): Needs a good refresh - Beds comfy, hotel quiet and good blackout blinds. Plenty of hot water for shower. Not exactly dirty, but doors weren’t clean and the age just made you question if deep cleaned. TV had two remotes with no instructions and coffee pot in room didn’t work. Breakfast expected for this chain,

- Steve (5/5): Probably won’t be back - Accessibility to location Whirlpool jets broken in room Broken tiles were sharp around tub Hole in bathrm door Room needs TLC!! Crabby employee when we ckd in
- Fred (5/5): - The breakfast was great and the location was good as well. The pool was nice also. There was one issue and my husband spoke with who was on duty at the time and said that he would report it to the owner/manager, but not sure that he did!!
- Lois (10/5): I really enjoyed the visit - Everything was good but the eggs, which were powdered. They were awful. Everything else was excellent.
- Elizabeth (5/5): Convenient location but would never go back. Not the standards of any other Comfort Inn I have staye - Location Was a rough looking place, damaged heaters in hallways. Chunks of trim broken in rooms. Puke in the elevator Sunday am. Filthy ice bucket, looked like dried up puke. Dirty hallways.
- Keni (8/5): Unfortunately breakfast was not as good as I thought it could be. Crock pot of gravy was luke warm. - Ability to check in and come and go as I pleased afterwards. I was unsure the hotel clerk returned all my documents which he requested.
- Bianca (7/5): -
- Kendraxoxo (10/5): Perfect Fit - This hotel was the perfect fit for my family visit - clean, quiet, friendly, and conveniently located.
- Siciliano (5/5): Ok - Breakfast was very limited. Juice was sour. No hot water for tea or oatmeal. Room was clean, but out of date. Elevator and pool were both out of order.
- Sherri (10/5): I stay here all the time so it is worth the rating. - Clean and quiet I miss the table and chair that used to be in the room.

- Mattie (7/5): - Location and had a room for one night stay Price
- 771sherw (2/5): worst hotel stay in my life - OMG... This place is a dump and thats putting it mildly! The pool was out of order, there is no hot tub even though it shows that there is, mold in the refrigerator, spackle on the walls, cockroaches in the rooms (or at least in my room), no game room with slot machines as in the website. Roomservices would not change my bedding half way through my stay and i was there for a week. Worst stay ever!!
- Gary (7/5): -
- Lisa (4/5): Comfort Inn was NOT comfortable! - Location to SIUC was good. The mattresses were stained and not wrapped in a protective mattress cover. I didn't see signs of bed bugs but when the mattresses are not completely covered you are more app to get bed bugs. The transition strip between the tile and carpeting was sticking up on both ends and could have been a tripping hazard. The toilet wobbled when you sat down and it had some sort of white tape sticking out at the bottom which was dirty. The shower spout did not pull-up all the way and the whole apparatus was loose and pulling away from the shower wall. The shower did not have bodywash just shampoo and conditioner and that holder was broken. There was no hook for a towel anywhere in the bathroom. The mirror had a border on it that was peeling and looked really outdated. Then, when our room was, we had a huge bright street/parking lot light shining in through the blinds. They did not have an additional curtain going over the thin window covering. For the price I paid, it was not up to my standards.
- Saddoris-Traughber (5/5): -
- Murneace Washington (1/5): The name of this hotel should be "contact booking.com" - Location The hotel charged me approximately $30 more than my Booking.com confirmation gave me. Regarding any issues I had, their response was always "contact booking.com".
- Andrea (4/5): - The shower had a used soap in it, so I don't know how well the room was cleaned between guests. There was no hair dryer to use even at the front desk.
- Chris (4/5): - Toilet never stopped running and eventually would not go down. When told staff after waiting for someone to appear for 15 mins they handed us a plunger.
House keeping did not stop in on a two night stay.
- Angel (2/5): - My room was not cleaned during my stay. I’m very disgusted and disappointed. Left the room around noon on 9/4 to attend an event. Stopped at the front desk on my way to ask for more toilet paper when the room is clean. I was then told that I had to ASK for my room to be cleaned during check-in. I WAS NOT TOLD THIS AT !!! My room was never cleaned I only received the toilet paper that I asked for and new toilet. The room was also loud from the a/c and the guest upstairs. I have a recording. The room was $398. I will never stay there again and will advise other to avoid this property. What a waste of money!!!!!
- Katrina (1/5): Was booked the wrong room and did not stay. Two weeks later no refund because they’re not responding to email - Wasn’t clean, was booked the wrong room
- Sara (10/5): - Staff were very helpful and friendly. Nice quiet area.
- Alex (10/5): - Everything is what you expect for a hotel/inn everything was clean and provided breakfast as well
- Byrne (7/5): -
- LIRHUA (2/5): Old hotel - We stayed for one night. WiFi didn’t work. We asked the front desk for help. They reset it but didn’t resolve the issues. There was no curtain to black out the street lights for the room.
- Branden (4/5): - The pool was absolutely disgusting.
- Carolyn (10/5): Last minute booking!! - The Location was easy to find!! N/A
- Dones (10/5): - Love the pool.
- Sherri (1/5): Why do I have to prove,a duplicate, why can’t I speak to a supervisor about this problem. - Hotel was clean staff was okay, however I was charged 2 different amounts for the same night stay. I didn’t like the run around from your customer service about receiving a refund .
- Kayla Marie (10/5): -
- Karen (10/5): - Staff was very attentive & answered any questions we had. Love the family feeling from the staff. Breakfast was hot and plentiful. Our second visit to this hotel and will be our go to whenever we are in town.
- Melissa (10/5): - Great location not far from many food locations. Pool is nice. Outside patio is nice with swing and grill and firepit.
- Peters (9/5): -
- Angela (8/5): - The concierge checking us in was so considerate and went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable.
- Maurice (2/5): - My room was under construction we had no mirrors in the room beside in the bathroom. Only had one night stand for two queen bed. Ceiling in the room was undone
- Laureen (10/5): - Very nice staff, room was clean and comfortable.
- Pravas (6/5): - The internet is terribly weak. The restroom doesn't have a toilet paper holder. Breakfast is nominal/just okay.
- Christine (8/5): - comfortable beds & friendly service
- Tinsman (6/5): clean, inexpensive place great for a day or two - the room was clean the entire place was extreamly clean. the ac the day we left did not seem to work. and the pool is an indoor pool that is NOT heated. the water had to be under 60 degrees, could not really enjoy.
- ina (1/5): - The bed was awesome. The room wasn't clean, the shower liner had mold on it, the phone in the room didn't work had to use our own phone to contact the front desk and was told sometimes if you dial 911 the phone might work,in the bathroom the ice bucket had a can of chew in it. Ask for a new one was told to come down and they would give us another one. Instead of bringing one to us. But they finally did bring one up. The floor was dirty. The swimming pool was so cold you couldn't enjoy it at all. Didn't have a hot tub was told in the booking it had one.
- Calvin (9/5): Perfect room for the weekend. - Everything was good. They were accommodating and the facility was clean
- Bradley (6/5): - Breakfast was good, room was good and clean. Hotel is next to a fast food joint and the south rooms are lit up from their lights All night. There is a lot of noise from the road and other rooms
- Michelle (2/5): - The fire alarm is broken. Front desk told me that the ones in the room are fine so not to worry. But when I did the chat with Expedia (who called the desk) they lied and told Expedia that it’s an ice maker. No hotel ice maker has a beep that imitates a fire alarm. Even if that were true, it does not account for the SECOND beep coming from somewhere in the desk area or hallway. You can hear them overlapping. It’s move in weekend so we literally can’t go anywhere else.
It’s also not well maintained and I’m honestly surprised that Choice hotels allows them naming rights
- Lauren (6/5): - For the amount of money you pay for one night stays, youd think the pool would be clean the place outside of it was full of empty beer bottles and cigarette buts, the inside of the hotel was just dirty, the walls the floors, it just wasn't a good experience
- Sarah (1/5): - Canceled my reservation and refunded ZERO dollars! Canceled my reservation but kept my money!
- Cecilia (2/5): - Disgusting. The first room smelled like seafood, the rooms are dirty. Another customer saying his room smelled like feet at the same time I’m making a complaint about our room!
- Ma Zuliv (7/5): -
- aisha (2/5): - Horrible!!!!!!! and very unprofessional. Do not stay here!
- Will (8/5): - The room was very spacious and the staff was friendly and helpful
- Brenda (9/5): Convenient location when visiting family - The property was clean and the staff was friendly. The breakfast was good, but the eggs were not properly prepared.
- Ronald (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tranell (9/5): Superb -
- Lisa (10/5): Great -
- Allison (4/5): Disappointing -
- Krystynal1 (8/5): Very good - Staffs, location. Inside pool is not so good. Cold, needs refreshing and renovation. There was an unpleasant smell in the room from the AC.
- Patricia Mahoney (10/5): - Property smelled so much of air freshener in lobby it was overwhelming. What was it covering?
The beds were so high I couldn’t touch the ground and I am 6’.
- Patricia Mahoney (6/5): - It looks like they are renovating but they have a long way to go.
The beds are very high, difficult to get in or out and I am 6’.
- David (10/5): - Nice clean and friendly
- Frank (10/5): Exceptional - Location
- Joan (8/5): - This property was actually even better than its rating. The only thing that needed attention were the doorknobs, they are hard to deal with and noisy to use and should all be replaced.
- James (8/5): Very good - Clean rooms friendly staff
- Tom (7/5): Good -
- Marsha (5/5): Not for short people! - Location Beds are too high. I am 5'3 and literally struggled to get on the bed.
- Zachary (7/5): Good -
- Juli (2/5): - Room was dirty and smelled like smoke. There was mold on the ceiling, and the light that shined into the room made it hard to sleep even with the torn shade. It was way over priced and disgusting. Don’t stay here!
- Deia (10/5): Exceptional -
- James (8/5): Very good -
- Karen (10/5): - Good service. Clean room.
- Tara (4/5): Disappointing -
- Switzer (3/5): Not a fan. Wish i could get a refund. - First room wasn't what we asked for. We got a king and a pull out when we booked 2 queens. When I went to make the pull out there was no bedding. Tried calling the front desk and the phone wouldn't work. All while my kids were trying to turn on the tv and the remote wouldn't work. Went down to the front desk to request another room. Got moved to the right room but it smelt like garbage. At that point I was tired of moving the kids and it was already late. Thought the smell would air out but still smelt bad in the morning.
- Vicki L (8/5): - Beds are too high, hard to get in if you are not tall.
Bathroom plaster repair not completed on wall.
Door lock was very loose. Looks like someone had pried it open.
- Rob (6/5): Nice. Probably would stay there again, but hopefully it will be cleaner next time. - The hotel was generally nice in appearance. The staff was friendly and the breakfast bar was clean and well-kept throughout the breakfast hours. The location wasn't in the main part of Carbondale, but it wasn't that far away, either. I liked the desk and other piece of furniture in the room, as it gave a lot of table top space for bags and for working. The room wasn't cleaned all that well. The hot tub, which I got that room specifically for, was not clean. There was a dirt ring around the waterline and I had to clean it myself before using. Then, two of the jets weren't working and they weren't very powerful. The desk chair wasn't comfortable at all. Also, this room needed a couch or chair for relaxing; there was plenty of space for one.
- Holly (8/5): Very good -
- Stull (9/5): Superb -
- Nokhram (1/5): Terrible - They had us go into a room that smelled like animals and cigarette smoke. Instantly we complained and then the put us into another room with the same situation. Upon complaints they put us into a room with a SINGLE KING bet that was seriously wrong to have 3 adults sleeping and mad for a really uncomfortable night sleep.
- Veronica (6/5): - The property was clean but not updated. There weren’t any hooks in the bathroom or a full length mirror. There were spots in the ceiling and knicks in the wood. When checking in, I explained that I would need to leave my luggage after checkout because my train was later in the afternoon. The clerk said it should be okay, but to mention while checking out. I asked for a note to be placed to avoid confusion, but it didn’t happen. The clerk who checked me out seemed to disagree with leaving me bags. I explained my discussion with the check in clerk. She asked a coworker and reluctantly placed the bags behind the desk. I didn’t think that I was asking a lot since I had already explained the matter, and was a guest in the hotel.
- Karen (8/5): Better than expected - Did not have breakfast but saw they offered waffle station could have had a way to prop bathroom door.
- Deb (10/5): - I was very happy with my recent stay at Comfort Inn. The location was convenient to everything, the room was very clean and updated, the staff was helpful and friendly and the breakfast was better than expected. The room had a microwave and mini fridge which was helpful. The bed was very comfortable. The room had everything we needed. We had a great stay!
- Tonya (1/5): Old and dated, I would not stay here again; if all possible - Decent location, but the facilities was not too my expectations. Comfort Inn should do better!
- Stull (8/5): Very good -
- Lora (8/5): Very good -
