Guest Reviews
- blancamK1954TA (8/5): Beyond Words - Exceptional services. Definitely coming back.
- kkrevalis (10/5): Great central location for exploring all of Yellowstone. - Yellowstone is such a large park you need to stay inside if you can. Canyon Lodge is centrally located and it a great place to stay. The employees and management do their very best to make sure that you are a “happy camper.” The lodge has all the comforts of a modern hotel (no TV, of course!, and spotty WiFi) without having to rough it in order to get up close to nature and wildlife. Yes, the bison can appear right outside your back porch! On the front desk, Geoff, was a huge help getting us settled in, plugging in for WiFi, getting the room the way we wanted, and many other helpful hints. All this while being extremely busy at the desk. GM, Sam, was also helpful with a minor issue regarding our stay. The rooms are not real large, but the space is manageable for 2 people. It was comfortable and quiet.
- Dreamer19972368699 (6/5): Good location but average lodge on the expensive side - The upside is that this lodge is in a great location with views and wow factor drives to/from the property. The downside is that some access roads are challenging - especially at night! We arrived towards the end of the season and the staff seemed to already have one foot out of the door. The reception was not friendly or welcoming. We discovered that we are not keen on seeing so many animals hung on the walls. The room was as expected for this type of lodge with a small bathroom with nowhere to put anything. The food in the restaurant was good in the evening, we did not have breakfast. On check out I paid $25 cash for the Park Pass but a $25 hold on funds only dropped off after a month. I wrote an email to ask about this but didn't receive a reply.
- KayeN675 (10/5): Costs More But Worth it To Stay In the Park! - This is a lovely lodge and you pay a lot more than at a motel outside the park, but that's the point - you are IN the park! It takes a lot of time and gas to travel back and forth to West Yellowstone or Jackson or other towns. We opted to spend more and stay in the park so we had more time to explore in the park.
The rooms were very nice and the clerks were pleasant and helpful. They told us what food was available because there are very few choices in the park. There's a small cafe in the Washburn Lodge that has packaged food the workers will heat up - breakfast sandwiches, pizza, burgers, etc. We had the breakfast sandwiches in the morning and they were quite good.
I do wish breakfast had been included but it's understandable because of the effort a hotel in the park would have to make to have enough food on hand for guests. Meal vouchers for the local dining hall would have been nice but that's not a thing.
We stayed in the Washburn Lodge and there are several others. The parking lot goes on FOREVER! If you're into collecting names of states on license plates, just walk through the parking lot at night! Don't miss the cute soap shaped like bears!
- 828lynnem (6/5): LOCATION IS Key - You truly cant beat the location. This lodge is centrally located to many of the highlights in the park, and if you want to be out bright and early to see the wildlife, this is the place to stay. The drawbacks are the room smelled like mold and there was definitely mold growing on the bathroom tiles. The room was not very clean and definitely needed a deep cleaning and dusting. Since I suffer from allergies, I did some dusting and cleaning myself. In addition, the room had a sound coming from the walls that sounded like a gigantic coffee percolator. a sound that never stopped. We tried our best to ignore it and pretend it was white noise. For dinner, we ordered a pizza and sat by the fire in the main lodge. The two people who ran the grab and go counter were very friendly and it was a great way to meet fellow travelers. This place could use a deep cleaning, but it was worth the inconvenience for the ideal location.
- frankward777 (8/5): Location - Very nice. Clean A great place to stay as it is centrally located in Yellowstone. Pretty expensive but you pay for the location. Not a first class hotel very basic but ok.
- Discover66235591057 (8/5): Canyon Lodge - Nice property, rooms were nice, expensive I think, and very dark.I could not read any paper work without my phone light. Lights in the hallway reminded me of "The Shinning" Next trip I will bring a rechargeable battery lantern. And carry a flashlight.
- igno2025 (4/5): Outrageously overpriced for the low overall experience - Poor WiFi. Thin blankets, we were freezing at night. No cupboards or closets for storage. Rooms are small. Only one night table for four beds. Breakfast, lunch and dinner options in Canyon Village were of extremely low quality, my kids were starving and partially disgusted. The location proved to be disadvantageous due to various road closures that necessitated long detours when going to Lamar Valley and when exiting the Park to the East. You get low value for high prices.
- 321TimB (2/5): overpriced dirty room - WIFI was awful, dirty room, no closet or dresser for clothes. very small room for $299 a night. Tiny shower.
- colaurado (6/5): Overpriced, not much open in area. Very limited food options! - We went in late October after visiting this area in the summer previously. We were so disappointed to discover that nearly everything was closed for the season (restaurants, shopping). This meant that food choices were very limited. We also didn't have WiFi the entire time we were there (two days) and while we didn't go to the park to surf the net, it would have been nice to check on our kids at home, let our family know we'd arrived, and check on the status of our flight. At almost $300 a night, we felt the rooms were way overpriced for the season.
- adventureawaitsforme (8/5): Rooms need a bit better lighting, parking can be a bit difficult if arriving back after 8/9 - This hotel was all about the location. We booked here for two nights. Rooms were nothing special. I find the rooms to be a bit dark as the lighting fixtures give you old time feel of maybe candlelight. There was no light by the bed side table. Instead one on the little table that is provided in the room. Bathroom needed to have some grout cleaning as mold was starting to be present. We were in one of the newer buildings. Parking can be a challenge if getting back after 8/9 pm.
- Daydream46449433578 (8/5): One night say - The hotel was nice. Great location in the park. October offered a discount. It was nice to have an eatery in the hotel. I was disappointed that you cannot adjust not adjust the temperature in the room. Hotel controls the temperature. The shower was not cleaned throughly because there were long hairs on the shower wall. House cleaning needs to pay more attention .
- Roving239244 (10/5): Yellowstone 2025 - Our stay at Canyon Lodge was wonderful. The entire staff was always friendly and attentive. Their proactive response to a sudden snow storm and coordination with park services and rangers allowed us to safely continue our visit in the park and get out safely
- DPfromColorado (8/5): National park stays are special. - It's always special to stay inside the national parks. There's something warm and comfortable about it. And the staff are so friendly and helpful. Of course, you pay dearly for this privilege. And the buildings are older, so the lighting is somewhat dim, the electrical outlets are too loose to hold plugs, and the windows can leak cold air. This building had wood shutters on the windows which kept the cold air out. There was good space in the room and clean carpet. On request, they gave us a room close to the entrance and other services. The bed was a bit lumpy.
- 751sandip (4/5): ⭐☆☆☆☆ 1/5 – Decent Facility, Miserable Stay - We stayed at Canyon Lodge (Chittenden Lodge building) in September 2025, and while the facility itself looks new and clean, our experience was awful.
The biggest issue was the constant noise from a nearby mechanical room — loud, jarring sounds that woke us up multiple times both nights. When we mentioned it to staff, they said they get that complaint often and suggested we include it in a review. For the nearly $1,000 we paid for two nights, that level of disruption was completely unacceptable. We barely slept and left exhausted.
The room itself was modern and stylish, with a fridge, coffee maker, fan, and heat (no microwave, and no air conditioning). The Wi-Fi worked surprisingly well, but lighting was terrible — so dim it actually caused eye strain. The shower looked nice at first glance, but the grout was filthy, with black streaks running along the tile.
The Canyon Eatery / M66 Lounge next door was another disappointment. The bar was sold out of all draft beer and wine, and when I tried to order a gin and tonic, they were out of tonic water too. I guess straight liquor was the only option that night. The Grab & Go food was incredibly mediocre — very much like bad cafeteria food. The pizza and breakfast sandwiches in the main lodge were decent, but there was nowhere to sit to eat comfortably, and our room didn’t have space for all four of us to sit and eat together.
On the positive side, parking was plentiful and easy, and the staff themselves were friendly. However, housekeeping repeatedly ignored our “Do Not Disturb” sign, removed it overnight, and tried to enter our room twice on the morning of checkout — long before check-out time.
The location is convenient — right next to Hayden Valley and close to the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone — but the experience was absolutely overpriced and poorly managed. Between the sleepless nights, maintenance issues, and lackluster dining, I would not stay here again. Next time, we’ll stay outside the park and drive in.
Still, as we walked back from dinner one evening, a herd of elk wandered silently through the village. It was a breathtaking reminder of where we were — a bit of Yellowstone magic that still didn't make up for the rest.
- xiaojun (10/5): - every t thing is good
- HIROSHI (10/5): - The rooms are modern, nice, clean.
- unb948kpxk (6/5): Food to be avoided - Great location and decent accomodations. Food quality and preparation abysmal for the premium charged.
- Megan (4/5): - The WiFi was down and the air did not work.
- Xiangke (10/5): - Quality is pretty good. I was lucky to grab a last minute booking. Super convenient location. Definitely worth the price.
- 740emim (8/5): Good location, lack of amenities - Canyon Lodge and Cabins is centrally located in YNP and 5 min from the Yellowstone falls.
I see some other people also commented similarly but things to know:
No AC, no working WiFi even if WiFi and password is given to you, no TV. No electric stove, no microwave, no utensil/pots or plates. There is a small fridge for drinks. We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite with 1 king, 1 queen and 1 sleeper sofa. 1 bathroom with shower was fine.
We ate cereal for breakfast in the 4 coffee mugs provided with the coffee machine. Food at the canyon eatery is quite terrible almost inedible. But I do also realize this is getting trucked in from somewhere hours away.
Pros: it is safe and clean and in a great location.
Not sure if I would stay here more than one night because of the lack of kitchen or any edible food nearby.
- Alfred (10/5): - Convenient inside Yellowstone National Park. Would have preferred a sit down dining room with wait service and menu instead of cafeteria style venues.
- Yasuhiro (10/5): - Great cabin!
- Robert (6/5): - The room was clean and the back porch was nice
- Troy (4/5): - First of all I paid $500 / night. I checked in in the evening at dark and there is very very limited lighting, basically pitch dark in the parking lot, and around the lodge. In the lodge I stayed at there is no easy way to unload your luggage. You have to take the luggage rack out to the dark parking lot to get it out your car and through the side walks eventually to your room. Then once in your room there is hardly any lighting there also. The room is dark even with all the lighting on. The room has no TV, and the wifi is terrible for streaming. Also you have to take a shower in luke warm water because it doesn't get hot. Then of course you have to call each day for room service and they question what type of service you want. The food at the Canyon Village is worse than your school cafeteria but cost $50 for two.
I get you are paying for location but I've had better services at a Holiday Inn Express
- Cheri (8/5): - Beautiful lodge and a great central location in Yellowstone. I do wish there had been more food options both in the lodge and in Canyon village. We stayed 5 nights and our room was never cleaned. I went to the front desk to pick up towels, coffee and even toilet paper. We had looked forward to spending time at the outdoor fire pit, but it was never lit. That was very disappointing. Coffee wasn’t free, and I think it should have been. A little disappointed overall for what it cost, but it’s a beautiful lodge.
- Jennifer (6/5): - The area was great, centrally located in the park. The rooms were small and the internet was so slow and
- Kevin (6/5): - No!
- Sherri (10/5): - Yellowstone natuonal park was just beautiful. The hotel was located in the middle of the 2 driveable loops, which worked out great for viewing the park.
- Don (10/5): - Very nice.
- mbrasserbirder (10/5): Great Lodging at Canyon - We made our reservation months ahead of time, so everything was ready for us. Spotless cabin for 3 nights, then gorgeous Lodge room for 1 night (had to extend our stay due to snow!).
- Thomas (10/5): - The receptionist was wonderful. Bathroom light was out, they fixed it ASAP! Thank you!!
- Lisa (8/5): - 👍
- Craig (8/5): - Nice lodge but the rooms have terrible lighting. No Coffee in lobby of buildings other than main building. In room coffee was terrible. Had to pull out refrigerator to plug in and it was noisy. Hallways were dark. Good location. Food cafeteria near there was terrible.
- Donald (8/5): - The room was decent. Was there during government shut down so there was zero housekeeping. However we were still happy our reservation was honored.
- rjkrtm (10/5): Yellowstone National Park - Canyon Lodge and Cabins - The Canyon Lodge and Cabins is centrally located, which allowed us to easily visit:
1. Old Faithful including the Upper, Midway, and Lower Geyser Basins. We hiked the spectacular Grand Prismatic Overlook Trail and the Fairy Falls Trail... both well worth the considerable effort.
2. Mammoth Hot Springs, including the upper and lower terraces
3. Yellowstone Lake, including Fishing Bridge.
4. West Thumb Geyser Basin. We took an awesome 1.7mi hike to the Yellowstone Lake Overlook; elevation gain 183ft.
5. Lamar Valley... lots and lots of wildlife visible from the road, to include wolf, bison, mule deer, elk, and fox.
6. Tower-Roosevelt via the Dunraven Pass... we beat the seasonal road closure by one day. We took a short, but relatively easy hike to Wraith Falls; the scenery was spectacular. We also spotted a black bear just off the road.
7. Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, including the spectacular North Rim Trail, South Rim Trail, Upper Falls, Lower Falls, Lookout Point, Grand View, Inspiration Point, and Artist Point. The waterfalls are magnificent. In many ways, this canyon and its spectacular falls surpass the Grand Canyon in Arizona.
8. Hayden Valley, and it's spectacular Mud Volcanos. We missed a Grizzly Bear sighting by 5 minutes!
- sarah (6/5): - Room was dirty. Moldy shower curtain, etc. convenient location but could have been cleaner
- Kathy (6/5): - I wish there had been porch chairs so we could sit and enjoy.
- John (10/5): Great location - Great central location to be within the park and the room was great and new
- Ashley (6/5): - We had a wonderful tie at Yellowstone and I would recommend anyone to go. The Hotel was ideally located and the rooms were nice. The FOOD was TERRIBLE at the Canyon Village. Same menu three nights in a row and it was like slop. I am a vegetarian and my wife sad the chicken was nice but the Mac and cheese and chines was awful. You have to make some pretty poor Chinese for me to say no as I LOVE chines food but this was a cereal dinner trip for me because the food was just bland and poor and EXPENSIVE. The food did not in any way ruin my trip the whole adventure was awesome and we will go back but we will not stay at a “captive food” place like Canyon Village as it is way over priced for poor food. The rooms are also expensive but such a great location.
- Monnekijn (4/5): Days Inn experience at Four Seasons price - Terribly overpriced, even for being in the park. Floors were so dirty that we laid towels down to make a path that was somewhat clean.
Dining options are rubbish. Purchased snacks at the shop as that was more appetising than what was on offer in the “dining facilities”, which really is just a mediocre cafeteria serving brown stuff that passes for food.
If you decide to stay here, at the very least, bring your own food from outside the park.
- Todd (8/5): - The room was decent enough. Spacious and kept. The sheets and one of the towels had a dirt mark on it, as if the bag containing them were dragged across the parking lot. The carpet needs replaced. It has stains from a thousand years of use. Add to that, we were allocated a room right next to the ice machine (the only ice machine). That is how Xanterra gets even with you for not booking with them.
- deborah (10/5): - Nice room and convenient to food and visitors center. Beds and pillows comfortable.
- Susan (8/5): - Great location.
- Jasmine (10/5): - Very wonderful place to live.
- Katarina (10/5): - great hotel in the middle of yellowstone park
- wang (10/5): - Ong this area is way better than Old Faithful area, also it’s more animal encounter
- Anqi (10/5): - Warm lodge inside the park. The WiFi was fast. Offered easy dining options. The location was convenient for going anywhere.
- Christian (10/5): - Room was clean, the cafeteria style food options was an experience
- James (10/5): - Clean room
- Madeline (10/5): - The location was ideal for seeing the different areas of the park. Our room was comfortable and quiet. All the staff were very friendly and helpful.
- David (8/5): - While most of the room was clean, the shower curtain was moldy.
- Nathan (2/5): Not suitable for family kids - Stay outside of the Yellowstone Park if you have kids. The rooms are way overpriced, no TV, they give you a fridge but no way to heat up food the only microwave was over 20 minutes away. What they do have for food is super fancy, not a lot of options, and not suited for kids!! If you just need a bed still not comfortable. It's what you expect out of $80 motel. I will never stay here for the park again for the money and lack of amenities. Also no AC so if you want to chill your room off you need to open the window which you will hear car alarms and people talking at all hours.
- Bryan (10/5): - This was my first stay at a National Park Lodge.
The experience lived up to high hopes!
- Emmanuel (10/5): - Clean
- william (10/5): - Stayed in a pet friendly cabin which was a tad bit dirty (worn), but we were there at the end of the season, so I thought it was worth the money we paid. Staff is exceptionally nice, whether checking in, or eating at the cafe. I would rate the trip excellent even with a government shut down.
- Kimberly (6/5): - Dirty carpet and very dusty. Food not that great except for the grill in the gift shop by visitors center. But centrally located to sights in Yellowstone.
- Zackaria (6/5): - Room was not close to what was advertised
- 894garrettn (8/5): Family trip to Yellowstone - Stayed here for 2 of my 7 nights in the Tetons and Yellowstone.
It was by far the best location for wildlife. I could be in Hayden or Lamar Valleys early and late in the morning.
Amenities are few, which is okay. My biggest complaint is there’s not access to a microwave in the building. If you need to heat up food you have to walk to the cafeteria (10 minutes away).
Clean, great location.
Internet is available but slow.
- Darlene (4/5): - Insufficient lighting in the room.
Towels are too high to reach in bathroom.
A grab bar would be nice near the tub.
Food in cafeteria was bad - and the only option.
- Steven (8/5): - Great
- Peter (8/5): - One of five locations in the park. Centrally located, near Yellowstone Canyon. Food selection is good but if you are looking for fancier fare try Yellowstone Lake hotel or the dining room at Mammouth Hit Springs. Accommodations and food at the Canyon Lodge were generally good especially if you have small children. Wildlife including elk, deer, and bison were ever present at this location.
- Ming (10/5): - Everything is great! Location is so perfect. There is a 0.5 mile trail between cabin 26 and 27 to Grand View of Grand Canyon North Rim. We hiked the trail in very early morning. So wonderful!
- Tim (6/5): - We stayed in one of the cabins at Yellowstone Canyon Lodge. We didn’t realize the cabins are connected, about 8 units to the “cabin”. The walls were pretty thin so it was a little noisy. It was nice to be in the park though. Check in was easy, staff friendly.
- Tonya (8/5): - We had never stayed in a national park before so some things that people should keep in mind is there is no air conditioner in the room. There is no iron in the room and there is no TV in the room.
- michellehX7608LN (6/5): Great Park, Canyon village stay, okay - The outside of facility was beautiful, decor very nice, staff friendly. Room was very standard at best, multiple outlets did not work, room coffee area was not supplied and dirty. Our room was near the entrance and heard rolling suitcases and people talking all night long. Not worth what we paid, absolutely ridiculous actually, hopefully donation to the park. Would not go back due to the exaggerated price for what we got.
- MEM1637 (6/5): Beautiful park but so so lodging. - Yellowstone Park is beautiful. The park was everything we could ask for in terms of natural beauty and wonder. The Cayon Lodge is well situated within the park and all major sites as well as back country trails were easily accessible from the location. Our room was small with zero storage; no dresser and limited hooks to hang anything. This left almost no floor space to walk as all bags were open on the floor. The room was minimally clean and we had no housekeeping for the five nights we were there, in spite of requests. The housekeeping staff was dressed and short staffed and it showed in their interactions. On the plus side, dining services and other amenities were a quick walk and generally good. Overall, we had a great time as we were outside most of the time.
- Susan (6/5): - Poor lighting in rooms. No hooks. Water pressure in shower not great.
- timothy (10/5): - Very nice room, central location for Yellowstone viewing
- Traci (10/5): - Great location and walking distance from the canyon! Seems to be one of the newer lodges, very clean. Only downside, no microwave. Would definitely stay again!!
- Karen (10/5): - We stayed in a cabin, which was clean & comfortable. Check in staff was very helpful explaining amenities & nearby attractions.
- sunshim (8/5): - We booked four rooms, but one was in a different building, which was inconvenient. The shower stall was also too small.
- Margaret (10/5): - Great trail right outside our cabin, with a deer the first night. We heard the elk call, and followed the trail to see him up on the hill! Cabin was very roomy. No WIFI in these, but we did have good cell coverage in the cabin.
- Bill1183822736 (8/5): Great place to stay but limited food options - To begin with, we loved staying in Canyon Village. However, the food options were limited. Canyon Eatery is expensive and underwhelming - once we ate there we worked out other options. What we did was to bring some no-cook breakfast foods, then leave early for our park destination, planning to have lunch in other areas of the park. There are great dining options in Mammoth Hot Springs, Old Faithful area, and Lake Yellowstone where we enjoyed the meals in beautiful settings. We bought sandwiches and snacks for dinner, avoiding the cafeteria-type food at Canyon Eatery. Lack of good food options are not enough to keep you from seeing this beautiful place, but plan accordingly! Last week of September was fantastic for fall color. Ask for a room away from the elevator if the constant sounds from entering and exiting guests will bother you.
- peterhK5604UB (6/5): Pleasant stay, dining so so - We stayed three nights in a standard room in one of the buildings of Canyon Lodge (Moran Lodge). A relatively new building, perhaps less atmospheric, but fully equipped, as was the spacious and clean room. The bathroom is neat and tidy. There is no standard cleaning, which is fine by us. If you need anything, you can let reception know and it will be arranged. Canyon Lodge is centrally located and a great base to explore the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone and the surrounding area. What we liked less about this location was the selection of dining options. Not that there aren’t any, but the quality of the food was not impressive. At the same time, it’s kind of fun to eat in a canteen-like setting.
- John (8/5): - Everything was excellent. Would have given overall 5 if not for the lack of storage for clothes, etc. The room could have a dresser, or at least a shelf to place our items.
- Diana (10/5): - Room is clean. Friendly staff. Enjoyed our stay here. Highly recommended.
- Mary Jo (8/5): - Easy to walk to dining. No refrigerator or TV in room. Seems odd.
- Rodrigo (8/5): - La verdad que el HOTEL está bien, pero como casi todo en general, el Servicio en todos Estados Unidos está cada vez peor
- Janine (8/5): -
- becgroup (10/5): Beverly Campbell - Our long-awaited trip to Yellowstone Park exceeded our expectations. The Canyon Lodge and Cabins offered the perfect venue and location for our stay. The Lodge team members provided guidance that helped make our time in the park especially productive and efficient. Thank you!
- Jill (8/5): - Center of the park
- Michael (4/5): - I know a room in the park is expensive and i can see why, but this is just poorly run. Not going to go on but it’s on par with Motel 6
- Richard (8/5): - Great location inside the National Park! Dawson, the manager, was absolutely AMAZING!!! He was kind, a really hard worker (we saw him emptying loads of trash and making coffee at one point, and made a not pleasant situation with our cabin right!!!
- Cynthia (8/5): - Nice property. Only complaint was room was dark, not enough light. Enjoyed our stay.
- Kenneth (4/5): - Beautiful park. Iconic places. Regretfully, the hotel is outdated, there was a permanent noise at the wall, pieces of the bathroom didn't work properly, no TV, old and deformed mattress. Small rooms.
- maryeC931DM (8/5): Fantastic location in Yellowstone! - Great location to explore Yellowstone.
Pros: Great location, nice walking paths, everything new and modern, beautiful setting in the trees, water refill stations, recycling, beautiful lobbies. fast elevators, very quick room service if needed. Lovely large windows in rooms.
Cons: Very small rooms with even smaller showers, no refrigerator or microwave, no closet, limited towels, scratchy sheets.
My brother rented a larger older cabin, normal size bathroom and just larger overall.
Given the pros and cons would stay here again. Location is worth it. Close to Lamarr valley.
- GIRIN (10/5): - Liked : Rooms were spacious.
Did not like : Poor lighting in the rooms, Sink was outside the bathroom and had to drive to Canyon Village for dining. Food with limited options, none for vegetarians. Limited food was not that great too.
- Sondra (8/5): - Canyon Lodge was very convenient for us while visiting Yellowstone National Park
- Sherry (10/5): - -
- Bruce (10/5): - Lodge was clean, well maintained
- jennifer (10/5): - Good area to start your trip of the falls
- Lisa (4/5): - Nice location, but for the price you pay, there should be more amenities. A microwave would be nice since meals are so expensive in the park and people bring their own food. No TV.
- Conny (10/5): - Clean, new and spacious room. Very convenient location.
- DOUGLAS (10/5): - Bed was small
- Josiah (6/5): - The food at Yellowstone is awful. Our room had some dirt and hair in places. Over all stay was good.
- MD327 (10/5): We keep coming back - Xanterra has created a sustainable appropriate facility for this area. The rooms are small, but clean and well maintained. We come to see the parks, not the inside of a hotel room, so I am glad that they did not use more wild space to make bigger rooms.
The company’s focus on the environment is evident everywhere. Recycling, minimizing waste, using real dishes and silverware. The waste bin in the room is smaller than the recycling bin, demonstrating their expectations. I only wish Xanterra were a publicly traded company so we could invest.
The food service nearby was a camp-cafeteria setting, but offered healthy options and a reasonable price.
EV charging is present and reliable. Only 3 spots, but guests were fantastic at taking turns to be sure we all could get home. I did have to ask maintenance for help when a charger had faulted, don’t be afraid to ask for help.
We will be back, again and again.
- Deborah (4/5): - Set in a beautiful location, Canyon Lodge was extremely basic and overpriced. Rooms needed updating and looked as if they’ve been stuck in the 1980s. No restaurant on site , only a small cafe that attracted long queues. Bed wasn’t that comfortable and pillows small and lumpy. Maybe this typical in a government funded American National Park. The room was dark even with lights on and vending drinks machine outside room only took dollar bills. The beauty of Yellowstone outweighed the disappointment of the lodge.
- Wenhui (2/5): - dirty, no air conditioning, no ventilation in bathroom, broken towel rail …
- Russell (8/5): - Location was excellent. Easy access to Canyon hikes. Room was sufficient, very small. No closet, small shower. Basically have to keep windows open for fresh air, parking lot right outside can be loud at times. Coffee maker, no coffee. Small refrigerator would have been useful.
