Guest Reviews
- Rod (10/5): - Pro: Good location within the park, clean, nice rooms. Friendly staff at registration and souvenir shop.
Con: no WiFi in room and dining options are limited.
- Jun (8/5): - Inside the park. It's convenient.
- Melanie (10/5): - Great stay !
- sarah (8/5): - The room was very basic but very practical for touring the park.
- Michael (6/5): - It was Yellowstone. Of course it was spectacular.
The registration service was great. Michael from Alabama was extremely friendly helpful.
But the lodge was a 2 star at best. The room was cramped. The bathroom more so.
The restaurant was barely average and ridiculously overpriced. $16. / person for a breakfast buffet that no mid range hotel would serve for free. Cold plates made for cold eggs. The sausage was undercooked and inedible. The “french toast” was made from white sandwich bread. Tater-tots were served instead of hash brown potatoes and they were hard as rocks.
Dinner was no better. My “wagu burger was a commissary patty that was uniformly gray except for some grill marks that could have been from a George Foreman grill. The prices were four star but the food was two star at best.
But there were no other dining options so we overpaid for our food and did not come back.
- Meghan (8/5): - We were there unknowingly on the last night open for the season, although the staff was friendly enough the restaurant and bar were out of just about everything.
- Samuel (8/5): - 5 minutes walked to dining facility. Love quieted area no bear to be found. No internet available in room 😃
- Dorota (8/5): - Nice rooms, Very convenient location for visiting Yellowstone Gaisers. Very lousy restaurant: long waiting times, lukewarm food, limited selection.
- Michael and Barbara (6/5): - Clean room, friendly staff.
- Kenneth (10/5): - Staff was exceptionally helpful 👍
- ajwed (6/5): - I feel like the place is really average for the price they are asking. It needs renovations, the amenities are seriously lacking, and there was no wifi in the rooms. The location was good, given it was just a 30 minutes drive to old faithful.
- Deanna (4/5): - Check-in staff and information were lovely. Dining staff need improvement. Menu is limited. Overcharged for our meals and said that’s how they have to ring it up. Room was dirty. Facilities closed before hotel did. Location only good reason to stay.
- Corey (10/5): - Nice place to stay, elk right outside our room.
- Kathleen (10/5): - Great location to grand Tetons and Yellowstone. Can access either side of the park from the lodge.
- John (8/5): - Everything except the breakfast was super. Breakfast was terrible. Round flavorless eggs , sausage questionable and burritos. Very little fruit and no pastries. I would not recommend this place because of the breakfast.
- DEBORAH (6/5): - Great location but very limited food options given the grill closes early so you’re left with the inn for dinner with no reservations until at least 9pm so book before you go.
Inn has ok food. Limited seating due to low staff but that’s based on current us administration.
No info ahead of time that you need to go to the reservations building to check in , which doesn’t have a sign for ‘check in’ so must stop there first.
No service but you’ll find this is one park where you won’t get service anywhere so know route before you go.
- Kimberly (10/5): - I arrived late at night due to flight delays and was so appreciative to have a friendly person there to help me check in! Thank you
- Victor (2/5): - Beds not comfortable at all. All rooms with full size mattress it is terrible for what they charge! No drinking fountains in a whole building. Shower so tiny and small , that you even not able to bend and wash legs.
- Bob (10/5): - The lodging was perfect for us. Only problem was restaurants in area closed at 6:30 or the ones open didn’t have reservations before 9:00.
- Nihar (4/5): - No wifi in chayote lodge. Vegetarian food is very bland in the restaurant and wait times are too high
- Douglas (8/5): - Good location for visiting Grand Teton and Yellowstone parks. One restaurant was closed for the season and my days started before the other opened and it was closed by the time I returned in the evening. The rooms were clean but the facility could use updating. The staff was also very helpful and courteous.
- Jenny (4/5): Terrible food. - The registration process and room were fine. Do much noise from housekeeping cleaning the room above us and then creaking floors, that it was impossible to sleep. Beds spongy and uncomfortable.
Worst thing was the food in the restaurant. Poor quality and overcooked. Fish and chips seemed a safe option but was cremated. Linguine sauce sounded great, but tasted like tinned soup. Worst meal in 2 weeks and overpriced at that.
I’d heard national park food quality was awful and it met the awful expectations.
- Steve (6/5): - Very limited food options, poor wifi, bathroom was not very clean. Location was great, but limited things to do in the immediate area. Would not recommend, especially for the price.
- Bruce (10/5): - Everything was great except the food situation, because it was the end on the season, only the main resturant was open and there were no other options avaliable. Lots of tables but limited staff so empty tables and people waiting.
- Tomme (6/5): - The walls were thin. We could hear ppl in the hall and upstairs. No microwave. It was basic, but the most affordable village to stay in the whole park.
- Margaret (8/5): - Our room was roomy, but there was no lift to second floor. Luckily we are older, but fit, and could move suitcases. If you are not, ask for first floor. The area is very quiet, and we were late in the season so the store wasn’t open. Beautiful lake views.
- Gail (2/5): Not worth paying extra to stay in the park - The room was filthy. Hair all over the tub, no toilet paper. Beds were very hard and bumpy. No tv or internet for a rainy day.
- Ruth (10/5): - Our Deluxe Double room was good for the 2 of us. But it’s very isolated! There is no WiFi - only weak WiFi in the Reception building that was crowded in the evening (it has only 4 chairs, the rest of us were standing). Also the Dining Room was by reservation only (and we had to show our email confirmation because they have no Wifi). Walk-ins were told to drive to the next restaurant, 30 minutes each way.
- Conny (8/5): - We had a bad experience with the only restaurant in the area . ( Dinner required reservation and so I called in the morning to do so. I was told the only available time was 9pm. It was too late for us so I asked if I can get takeout. Person on the phone told me takeout is available and I can go any time. When we went to the restaurant for takeout in the evening, we were told it's their policy to not offering takeout.) We told The staff at front desk about the incident. The lady at front desk immediately called the restaurant manager and tried helping us to resolve. But the restaurant insisted they had to stick with their policy. We ended up eating crackers and apples in our room for dinner but the front desk staff offered us 20% discount on our stay.
- Karen (8/5): - Forgot to ask for a first floor room. Stairs are difficult for me Great area and cabin feel for a national park
Registration was difficult to find in the dark. GPS did not direct me. Another person who stayed in the park directed us to it
Ate one night at the restaurant. Had the trout and a dessert. Fabulous
- Robin (6/5): - We came in exhausted and our room wasn’t ready till after 8:00 pm It wasn’t the best first impression of Yellowstone lodging
- Carolyn (10/5): - Park was great!
- Kip (10/5): - Steps from Yellowstone lake
- Mary (10/5): - Please remember to make dinner reservations far in advance to eat at a reasonable hour.
- See (8/5): - Great location if visiting Grand Teton National Park is part of your itinerary. Clean room and easy parking. Not much of any meal option since there is no microwave. And the general store was closed for the season.
- Annette (10/5): - The staff were very accommodating
- Thomas (6/5): - room was clean. staff was friendly. very few dining options. bring your own food and water, like camping. we were there end of the season, lake view was fantastic. stayed in Deer Lodge, great view of the night sky.
- Brittany (10/5): - Check in was super easy and it was nice being able to save on travel time by staying in the park. Hotels probably haven’t been updated since the late 80’s, rooms were dusty, and most amenities had closed early for the season. It was still worth it!
- MARK (6/5): - Bathroom is tiny. No TV.
- Christina (2/5): Avoid - If I could give it zero stars I would. The room is a tiny closet. The website does not say that all facilities are closed but EVERYTHING was closed. Was sent to Old Faithful area for food 45 min away only for them to be closed also. We ate from a vending machine. No TV which wasn’t a big deal but facility also hard to get in and out. A older man even fell as we were coming in on the steps to get DOWN into the first floor room! Avoid at all cost. Mold in the shower. Might as well tent camp because it’s basically the same thing.
- Natalie (10/5): - We had a great stay at Grant Village! Had a clean room, staff was helpful and friendly and the stores were very convenient
- Kevin (8/5): - The park is beautiful. The room was comfortable but there is no lounge area The quality of the food and menu choice at the dining facility is not rave worthy in September.
- Richard (4/5): - The hallway was always cluttered with bags of garbage and used towels. The place was noisy. The heater did not work. The shower was very, very small. A big person would not be able to use it. Instead of a garbage can, there was a big box devided into 3 sections for you to seperate your trash into. There were no trash can liners in 3 sections so any drink containers could leak out.
- James (10/5): - Very nice and cozy.
- Marlene (10/5): - Beautiful view of the river from the porch just outside rooms.
- Jenny (8/5): - Yes
- robert (8/5): - Yellowstone is an awesome place with amazing sights to see. I had two complaints about the hotel: no cell phone connectivity or Wi-Fi there and the beds are too small being of double size.
- Carol (8/5): - Room was clean, staff was helpful and friendly. Parking lot didn’t seem to have enough spaces when rooms were full.
- Patricia (6/5): - The park was beautiful but since it is getting near the end of the season, it appeared that staffing was low. Our room was do-able for us but I was surprised we got a room with wheelchair accessibility which I didnt request. It was fine. Staff was pleasant.
- Anne (6/5): - Towards the end of the season is not the time to visit. Everything was being run down. Insufficient staff meant our room was not ready on time, there was only 1 restaurant open and we were lucky to get a reservation at 9pm as there was nothing earlier. By the time we finished our mean the staff were sweeping up under our feet. Bathroom was exceptionally small and fittings were a bit scruffy.
- Khanh (6/5): - The property is not well kept. Internet service is not working even at the registration office
- Karen (6/5): - The location inside Yellowstone National Park is great, but it would be my last choice of where to stay in the Park. (And we have stayed in a number of others). The room was small and showed signs of wear. There was absolutely no view where we were in the “Deer” lodge building. It was not quiet as we could hear people next door as well as on the floor above us. Dining options were limited to the single restaurant where we received a truly horrible meal. My linguini was tough and the seasonal vegetables were limited to perhaps ½ ounce of zucchini.
- Scott (6/5): - Staff were amazing
- jennifer (8/5): - The room was outdated and there is no air conditioning or tv. It was fine as we were out exploring Yellowstone during the day. Be careful in fall, winter and spring as some places close for the season. The Grant village restaurant required dinner reservations, as did many of the sit down restaurants. They say they send an email ahead of your stay to notify you and allow you make reservations ahead of time, but I booked through Expedia and I don’t believe I was sent an email. Upon hearing that is what they do, I searched for it, even in spam, but did not see an email about dining from the park.
The room was quiet and cozy.
- Xin (6/5): - Felt like a very sleepy and forgotten corner during our stay. Room's outdated but comparable to other hotel's in the park. Breakfast is the quality of Holiday Inn Express but costs $20.
- Robert (6/5): - Buffet breakfast waste of money as food was COLD. When mentioned to waitress all she did was take food away. Didn’t offer another plate of warm or hot food.
- Tifton (10/5): - Lodge was great. Restaurants was definitely not!
For dinner, my mussels were spoiled. Manager comped it.
Breakfast was more limited than a cheap motel. $20 for eggs, bacon, sausage. Potato’s were yucky. Yogurt bowl was empty. Pastry was frozen solid. Very disappointed.
Usually restaurants in park are excellent. This one was a huge disappointment!
- Patricia (10/5): - Room was spacious and clean. Appreciated the mini fridge in our room. Many dining options available. Staff was friendly. Easy check in and check out.
- Anan (4/5): - No elevator. No resturant available. No microwave
- Benjamin (4/5): - They really do trap you at this place with no place to eat. Normally there are two dining options but the one you don't need a reservation for closed for the season the. Day before we arrived. This led to chaos in the other dining room, where they wouldn't seat people even though half the tables were empty.
- Robert (10/5): - Seclusion
Price was high for going into the “offseason”.
- Heather (8/5): Worth it to be in the park! - Staff found out about my birthday and delivered a gift to my room! I was so touched - they really went above and beyond! It was a great location and had what we needed!
- Raghav (2/5): - Property does not have any eating options other than 1 restaurant and they did not have enough capacity we were not able to have dinner
- Lakshmi (10/5): - Great location. Good service. Pricey but amazingly convenient to be within the park and just so happy to be so close to nature
- Marianne (4/5): - No WiFi connection
- Laura (6/5): - Beautiful national park
- Zhirong (8/5): - The room is clean, but a bit small expecially bathroom. And there is no wifi in the room.
- Jay (8/5): - Hotel type structure, but has no elevator. Rooms are nice but basic. Any service has to be specifically requested by phone. Facility is very clean and well maintained. Rooms are expensive and dining options rather poor. Nothing to do at night, and WiFi is scarce. We enjoyed our stay overall but will aim for a different option next time.
- Sandra (8/5): - It is in a nice area of Yellowstone. The room doesn’t have air conditioning or TV. The air conditioning was not an issue for us as we could open the windows to cool the room. Bathroom is a little on the smaller size.
- Thomas (8/5): - Shower too smal and slippery. Commode short, tigh, difficult to use. Thin wall could hear standard conversations right next door
- Briant (4/5): - They actually have a standard printed card explaining they won't clean your room if personal items are left in the room. We only stayed 2 nights, so not a huge deal sleeping in unmade beds the second night, but the explanation was a bit nuts.
- Katelyn (4/5): - The rooms are quite small and do not have the queen beds as advertised. They also have nearly no food options in September.
- Timothy (10/5): - Check-in was quick and easy at the Registration center. There wasn't any staff within the bldg we had our room but that's okay since we didn't have any issues with the room. Not luxurious, but super convenient. We ate dinner and breakfast at the main dining room and the staff was super about getting us seated even though we didn't have reservations.
- Denise (4/5): - The dining was limited and expensive. The rooms are small, especially the bathrooms. Not what I expected. We visited other Villages in Yellowstone and they were much better.
- Melissa (10/5): - Great start to our vacation, don’t forget to book dining as it fills up fast and other options close early.
- John (6/5): - Better food selection
- Liberty (10/5): - Very nice! Right inside the park!
- Ronald William (8/5): - The property was beautiful, the room was nice, the bed was comfortable enough (but everyone is different on what they like for a mattress, so that's a coin toss) and the staff was very friendly. The food pricing is ridiculously expensive, so a microwave nearby would be helpful. Also, the bathroom was musty and if left open, affected the room. The shower was possessed, being fine for most of the time, but would go scalding hot for no reason. By turning to cold and then back to a desired temperature, it could be remedied. Itay or may not do it again. Otherwise the room was nice.
- Charles (10/5): - Cant beat location and rooms were large. Food limited , but most people are on go all day and came for the park not dining.
- Janna (8/5): - Beautiful setting in Yellowstone. Saved us driving time to Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone.
- Stephen (10/5): - The service at Registration was fantastic. Great help on getting a tire leak repaired late in the day.
- Tracy (6/5): - We discourage staying here. Please note, you will not be on the lake or have a lake view. Plus no TV to unwind at night. We did this to be in Yellowstone but a stones throw away from Teton. Stay in Jackson Hole instead for a much better experience and price. Another thing you have to consider is you are trapped by 2 food choices at this location. Not tasty either. Do yourself a favor and book elsewhere.
- Roxanne (8/5): - This location is great for the Tetons. Places to eat are limited and no Internet or TV in the rooms. Great place to unplug.
- Bethany (10/5): - We had a 2 bed room. The beds were full size rather than queen, which made 2 normal size adults sleeping in 1 bed uncomfortable. The room was clean, along with the building. Overall it was a good stay, but would opt for 2 room with 1 king size bed next time. 😉
- Danny (10/5): - We love the back woods type of hotels
- Christa (8/5): - The location was perfect. The staff was very nice and extremely helpful. The man in the gift shop gave us a map he made that really helped us get to all the places we needed to see. On the down side, the bed was not comfortable. The restaurant was understaffed and unless you had a reservation, you had to wait 60-90 minutes for dinner. Hard to call for reservations when there is no phone service and you never really know when you will get back from seeing the sights all day. Have some kind of food with you just in case.
- karen (10/5): - Nice quiet clean room. Just a shower no tub and shower was a little small. Everything else was good.
- TERESA (8/5): - Nice and convenient location
- Lea (6/5): Good location, feels dated - Rooms feel quite dated. Apart from the location, there is not much that makes this an attractive option compared to other options in the park.
- Greg (6/5): - Late season I suppose. Short of waiters in the restaurant. Those working were quite good. Signage to the restaurant was inadequate.
Jackson Lake Lodge was an entirely different experience. Keep driving south!
- Dustin (8/5): - Convenient for in the park
- TAMMY (6/5): - Would be great for a 1 night stay coming up from Tetons. Beds were very uncomfortable. When we checked in we were told there were 3 options for dinner. Dining room needed reservations, lakehouse and the grill. So we went to the lakehouse which only served tacos. The next night we were going to pick up some burgers at the grill that we were told was open til 7. Well that was the night before. Today they closed at 5. Sept 8th. So we had no options for dinner except tacos again. Would definitely stay farther north at some of the other villages. Windows were thin. Thought someone was outside talking, the people upstairs had their windows open. Thought with no tv or WiFi it would be peaceful. It was not. Just ok
- Tina (10/5): - It was clean and quiet. Very nice for an older establishment. Lots of parks are more outdated. This has had some updates.
- STEPHEN (4/5): - Service at the Lake house for breakfast was absolutely appalling.
Was going to have the full buffet which it said on the menu all you can eat😂 Coffee cold ,offered no orange juice ,no bacon,in fact nothing.
Kept telling staff there was no bacon, french toast,or any other food in the food containers .
Staff just walked around aimlessly.
One member of staff disappeared into the kitchen because we kept asking when are we getting any food.
Finally after 30 mins of waiting we walked out hungry😡
- Robert (6/5): - We liked the nature setting. Wildlife wondering about the property was a treat. Easy parking and access to the rooms. Friendly and polite staff. Its a good starting point to travel through Yellowstone.
But, its really not a true lodge. Individual buildings with hotel style hallways with rooms. No actual lodge area to enjoy. Rooms and bathrooms are very small. We found local dining subpar and crowded. Would not spend the money to stay again. Recommend upgrading to one of the other properties in the park.
- PRADEEP (6/5): - It was good staying inside the park, but the hotel was a little dated. There were very limited dining and shopping options
- Telma (6/5): - It's expensive for what they offer... $350 a night and the wifi didn't work, not even in the lobby. Cell reception was non existent so having wifi was more a need than a luxury, we needed to communicate with family and also plan our hikes for the next day.
The rooms were OK, like any average room you'll find at a 2 or 3 star hotel.
- Jodi (6/5): - Front desk staff was not friendly and no one told us about needing reservations at the main dining. Could not get in to dine and they would not do a take out order.
Grant Village was convenient for our kayak tour on the lake with Shurr Adventures, which was fantastic and lunch at the general store after kayaking was great before heading out.
- Olivia (2/5): Awful, appalling, very poor- would not recommend - Service was appalling! Our room was not cleaned and when we complained we were told we did not request it- were not told. Restaurant service was terrible, food expensive and awful. Xanterra needs their concession cancelled. There was no WiFi and lodge was mediocre and overpriced. Restaurants and stores closed early even though we were told they would be open till 7. Overall we and our party and everyone we spoke to thought Grant Village was overpriced and awful.
In contrast the places at Grand Teton were outstanding!
- Ruth (2/5): Terrible stay - Staff was very unfriendly, reception gave no information. We had no idea we had to request the rooms to be cleaned. Shower terrible- no pressure and leaked onto the floor no matter how we tried to close curtain. Main restaurant service awful and food overpriced and mediocre. Go to lake restaurant for tacos rather. Laundry room the only redeeming feature. Efficient, clean and friendly. And what’s with these miniature pillows? We expected WiFi in our rooms but none available!! In 2025??!! Then the price! So overpriced for the poor quality, service and facilities we hot. We noticed non of the staff were smiling. They must be embarrassed to be working there.
