- Kendy (10/5): - Good
- Monika (8/5): Safe - It is a standard-issue Marriott with very nice gym. The only but crucially important thing about it is that it is very safe (walled/fenced with controlled access and armed guards). A US-style supermarket across the street, safe to walk to even for a white girl. Cannot say I would stay again because I amnot returning to Haiti until major improvements of the whole country/society.
- Evodie (10/5): - Spacious clean room
- 656maulikr (6/5): Breakfast Buffet - What happened to this place? This was my favorite place for breakfast before pandemic! Indifferent service. Came for breakfast after over two years and can not believe what I found! No honey for tea! Pumpkin soup is marked without meat and it is full of meat! When pointed out no apology! Sausage and bacon sitting in over half inch deep fat! No fresh fruit in a country full of fresh tropical fruit. Omelette cooked too dry with used oil smell! Someone PLEASE pay attention. This can not be to the standard of Marriott!
- Alfred (10/5): - The service
- Luis (10/5): - Staff was amaizing!
- Emmanuel (10/5): - Friendly and professional staff
Property is super clean. I think Marriott is the best hotel in Haiti.
- MyworldMimundo (8/5): An Oasis - A nice and modern Marriott property in the middle of chaotic Port Au Prince. Well trained and friendly staff. Very clean and spacious rooms. Good menu at restaurants and the chef will personally cater to yoir needs. They wil also take care of your safety and book safe transport and tours for you. No need to take riska on your own.
- Priscilla (10/5): - I like that due to the delay at check in they offered me snacks and wine to compensate for the wait. The Hotel is very clean and luxurious. I enjoyed my stay.
- Wei2Yue (10/5): Great Hotel in Port-au-Prince - Great hotel with nice facilities and friendly staff. Excellent WiFi and shower pressure. Big room with a nice view. The hotel also put me in touch with a driver for the two days (for an additional charge) who was a godsent.
Restaurant food and service did not match the quality of the hotel.
- Nathalie (8/5): - The staff was amazing. That was my favorite part of the stay
- Myson (10/5): - everything was ok , nothing to add .
- Marie Anne (10/5): - Excellent customer service.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I love how polite everyone was. Security made me feel very comfortable, and the wait staff were great. The drinks were awesome!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - My experience was great, I met Marvens, he was incredible, he did his best to make my stay comfortable and nice. Will definitely go back , the one issue I have is the parking, I wish they had more parking space.
- Caitlin (10/5): What an amazing Hotel - I love the hotel it was very nice. The customer service was great and the breakfast was delicious. I will definitely be going back there I just have to figure out if they offer Airport pick up and shuttle. Getting around pretty princess hard if you do not have a ride to and from the airport. However this hotel was amazing and now that I know there are hotels like this in Port-au-Prince I might try and visit there more often.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Love this place, but the only one problem i have is the shower doors they don't close all the way so when you shower all the water spills all over the floor, which cause it to be very slippery
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good business travel location - The staff is welcoming and location is perfect for business travel
- NicolsonFils-ai (10/5): - The place where very clean and the service was excellent.
- 266janinel (10/5): Good stay - We had a limited stay at hotel. Checked in at 9pm and checked out by 9am. The room and grounds were as pictured on Marriot's website. The facility and room were clean.
We had dinner in the restaurant down stairs, the food (Griot) and cocktails were excellent.
The first floor was very trendy and lively, but once you reach leave the first floor the hotel is very quiet.
We would visit again.
- Ange (8/5): - The property looks nice outside and by the pool. foods was excellent.
- marieseide7 (10/5): "Calm Oasis - Hidden GEM" - We stayed at this hotel for a Wedding Honeymoon and loved everything about it.
This hotel is an oasis and the location is great with a spectacular view of the mountains and part of the city.
The hotel has beautiful décor and it has a homey vibe where you can relax and unwind with superb delicious tasty meals from the restaurant or the lobby bar. The pool was great to unwind.
When I called to make arrangements for the honeymoon; I spoke with the Front Office Manager - Candice Paultre.
I have to give Candice a special acknowledgement because she was phenomenal in every way. No request was too big or too small. she followed my request precisely with no hesitation and always with a positive and professional attitude.
She ensured that everything was set-up for my brother's honeymoon.
Candice stayed in touch with me to ensure that everything was to our liking and personally greeted them and gave a tour of the property when we arrived. Candice set the tone for our stay by going above and beyond... and truly made our stay an exceptional one. Candice is an exemplary Manager and should be applauded for a job well done! Thank-you for making this special event a memorable one.
Price is very reasonable. The quality & service in every aspect was consistent.
All staffs are attentive, professional, accommodating, and helpful in everyway.
So, if you are traveling and looking for world class service, Top notch accommodations, Delicious dinning and food options, Spectacular view and a Gem of a Manager that will ensure that your needs are met; this is the place to go.
I highly recommend it to all travelers and we will definitely go back.

- Verified traveler (6/5): - The restaurant was very good, cockails and food were excellent. The major problems were the lack of hot water (only luckewarm water was awailable), and no coffee machine in the room.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I loved the lobby. The hotel is very impressive when you first step inside. Definitely has curb appeal. The staff was wonderful and the food was pretty good.
I arranged a car which was misrepresented. The site gives the indication a professional car service. The car experience was pretty scary, the windows didn’t even roll all the way up. It was dark during our 5:30 am trek to the airport and that made me nervous. Our driver also stopped to ask someone a question which made us very nervous. When paying 45 dollars for a 15 minute ride I would expect things to be a little safer.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - I think it’s a shame this property belongs to the Marriott chain.
I had to ask for towels 3 times before someone finally showed up at 8PM with two body towels, I asked specifically twice again for full sets of towels and that just never happened.
We wanted to relax by the pool, but that was also a failure because the ENTIRE day, there was someone water cleaning with the loudest machine ever. We were there perhaps from 12-4 hoping it would end at one point but no.
The food was very average, very pricey for what you can get at other good hotels in Haiti (better food, cheaper)
The great Mountain View was nothing but the building right in front of us and some mountain peaks you can see in the back (we were on a lower floor)
Overall, very disappointed and couldn’t UNrecommend more.
Oh breakfast buffet was an additional $35 per room and it’s a joke; you have two kinds of local cheese, some smoked salmon, two kinds of pork ham, tomato, lettuce, butter, bread, three kinds of fruits, hard boiled eggs and cereals. Even the days inn sometimes have a better buffet for included breakfast!!!!!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Everything here is different but the one thing thats evident is the demand for tips from the staff is just too much
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice and spacious. The pool is great. I appreciated the small cafe for snacks. Very friendly service from all who works there.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Good service, but could get my coffee maker working 😐
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Our stay was wonderful. We had bussiness to attend to. The internet was on all the time and was good for working overseas. The Resteruant was amazing with fresh meets and items we requested that were not in the menu. The chefs and servers were great. Very friendly and attentive. Rooms clean and comfortable ac perfect! And let’s not forget front desk Personel did a great job with accommodations and help. Thank you!
- 528tyram (10/5): What a Wonderful Experience! - I traveled to Haiti from my home in Washington, DC, and needed somewhere convenient to the airport to stay for two nights after checking out of my resort in another part of the country. I had a wonderful experience at this hotel. My room was sparkling clean, I had 0 issues with the hot water, the service at the bar was amazing, the pool area was beautiful and relaxing, and the overall atmosphere at the hotel was awesome. They also provided me transportation to the airport (for a fee) which was on time and professional too. I always felt safe, and the location is busy, yet convenient. I also loved my view from my room! I’d definitely recommend this hotel!
- AubstaOriginel (10/5): Great hotel in Turgeau - I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The hotel is very nice and modern, and it features 24-hour security. The entire staff was great during my stay in Turgeau, and the concierge went above and beyond expectations.
- clancy (8/5): Haiti - The people who work at the hotel are amazing. Food however, overpriced and not good. I had two meals that were not edible, and one was a salad. How do you mess up salad. Drinks are more expensive then the states and that’s including soda and water.
- Nicole418brx (10/5): My first and definitely not my last! - I came here for my boyfriends birthday & they exceeded my expectations. From the moment I walked in, every step of my stay, everyplace I went, no matter where I was the staff is amazing. One thing about Marriott they only employ people who will make a impact in people’s live & they definitely did that for me. Leticia, such a lovely lady at the front desk had things all ready for me the second I had walked in. It was such a pleasure to converse with each and every individual I came into contact with. These people not only work hard but they do it with such pride in their job. Thank you Marriott for going that extra step and reminding me why I choose this company over all. And thank you for adding your extra special touches on my boyfriends birthday night, not only was he surprised but I as well as what an amazing group of people La Sirene has and they all gathered to be part of my special night. Thank you all. You all are amazing people! And everything from the rooms to the lobby to the pool was all well up kept and clean and taken care of. This property is definitely well taking care of and have people who show they are happy and proud to work there.
- Feli (10/5): - great place to stay, clean room, nice lobby, ok pool, dinner is great, breakfast needs to be fresh and to improve.
- raoulstravels (10/5): Great for business meetings - Came in for a meeting at the hotel. While waiting, I stopped by Café Cho for a quick bite. The staff was very friendly and the food was delicious and moderately priced. Will definitely return for an actual stay.
- tipappy (8/5): A Brief Stay - We found a few issues in room 815 (see attached pictures). We talked to one of the Managers and got an immediate transfer to a better room. Did not expect such expedited reactions from Haitian professionals. Things seem to be improving. Keep it up! I would really recommend that shift supervisors actually check the rooms before letting clients in. That seems not to be th he case give. What we saw in room 815 (burned out light bulb in bathroom, broken leg on night stand table and bathroom shower not completely cleaned to international standard. Etc..) All in all, a good, if not the best place to stay in Haiti. Will visit the hotel again in a few months.
- 400yurib (10/5): Good Service - Stayed a couple nights and I met so many volunteer people stay in and everybody try to help the Haiti Economy, Education and Environment. It's very nice to see and talk to them at Elevator. And front desk staff, bellman and restaurant staff are so nice to everybody. They know the service and if we have any problem, they will come back to your room and fix right away. I was so happy to stay this Marriott.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very nice service. I was very happy. I probably come back next time . I love you Haiti
- JanDreamer (8/5): Amazing city but keep safe with good tour operators - We spent 3 nights for Christmas 2018 in this hotel. We wanted to discover Haiti and feel the people and culture. I booked taxi service (portauprincetaxi.com) before hand for transfer from the airpot and used them for next couple of days.
First day we did a Port au Prince city tour with the portauprice taxi - iron market, hotel Olofsson, observatoire through Petionville, quick view of gingerbread houses. We were not interested in the cathedral or national palace. Loved the market and views of Petionville and view from observatorire. Taxi service was good, they take care of your safety. I recommend you clearly state what you want before the tour and negotiate the price. The taxi tends to suggest additional detours for extra costs hence you know what you want and specify clearly ahead of the tour.
We went to the Bassin Bleu with same taxi and also did short tour of Jacomel. Note the drive is long but worth it. At Bassin Bleu our taxi set us up with a local guide. He took us through the different water falls and to the last water fall where we jumped into the basin, that was an amazing experience.
Marriott is a good standard hotel for Haiti. Service is good but been told us about not having hot water after we checked in. They would bring hot water in a big container when needed. We asked for it one time but then never used this service. It was taking too long and the cart made a mess in the room. Otherwise the service was great, nice people and food was delicious.I would go back to this hotel again.
I also found out even though the hotel does not have their own car transportation, they work with partner companies and help you to organize trips. I used hotel recommended taxi service for rest of the trip. We went to Montrouis to Hotel Royal-Decameron-Indigo for 4 days and then back to the airport. See separate review for Hotel Decameron.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very friendly staff. Good ambiance. Food was also very good.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - I did not like not having hot water when time to take a shower. The hotel was too expensive for the level of service received. I would not recommend it.
- mahotiere (10/5): Great Service - I just spent two nights at the Hotel and the service was excellent. I had received a warm Welcome at the Door from Fred, Joseph at the Front Desk was very professional. Room was cleaned the way I expected a Marriott Hotel should be. Cassandra did an excellent Job at the restaurant when I was having breakfast. I heard Cassandra answering in English to a few other guess. As Haitian I was proud of her.
overall Great Service.
keep up the good job - Marriot Port-au-Prince Hotel.
I will be back with my wife and kids soon.
Mr Mahotiere
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The restaurant employees, one particular, her name is Sandy, she was one of the ruthless servers whom i ever met. Most of the employees need to be trained more on how to serve better.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The service at the restaurant was terrible, specifically this particular waitress /supervisor named Sandy. No respect and so direspectful
- MarabuSue2018 (10/5): R&R - Definitely my favorite hotel to stay at when I am in Haiti. This was my second trip in 6 months and when I want some some time this is where I stay.
I LOVE the staff!! Especially: Miriam, Daniel, James, Jonas.. There hospitality is impeccable. I enjoy converse with them..
Such a clean and quite location. I’ll be back of course!!
- LynneS856 (6/5): Positives and Negatives - I wasn't expecting a 5 star hotel (after all this is a Haiti). But this was below Marriott standards. Positives - very friendly staff especially in the bar and restaurant. Clean. Gated and safe. Negatives - no hot water for our 2 night stay. We were told about it as we finished checking in leaving us no alternative but to deal with it. Only 2 towels, no hand towels, no face cloths. Room was cleaned very late in the afternoon. They can do better
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Everything was great. The staffs were very helpful and courteous including the gentleman at the counter and Jeff who helped us with our luggage to the room. The only thing that I was not very happy about is that someone came in the room while we were out and took a rollaway bed without even telling us. Hopefully, this person will be retrained. Beside that incident, everything was good.
- Roadking818 (4/5): Disappointed in this hotel - The PAP Marriott has been my go-to Hotel when I travel to Port au Prince. I’ve been coming to this property since It was built. I also have seen this hotel degrade and slip on basic expectations for a Marriott. This is my third review. I booked 5 nights in a business trip. I’m writing this review after the second night.
The rooms have not been well maintained and there are other issues.
Here’s the list:
The room carpets are stained and do not show evidence of being shampooed. I can normally walk barefoot in a Marriott, but here I wear socks. The carpets have an odor that I can only assume is due to the lack of deep cleaning.
For my two nights, there is no hot water. This includes having to shower and shave in cold water. The water pressure is very low and barely is enough. This is a serious situation for a major brand.
The hotel is an eleven story building. There are two elevators, however only one is working. In speaking with my client who travels from the US and stays at the Marriott regularly, I was told that this has been the status for a while. This situation causes delays at high usage times (mornings especially).
The breakfast buffet is decent quality however compared to previous stays, the selection of items has been reduced and the replenishment of food items doesn’t happen enough. When I went to have breakfast at 7:30am, many cold items (cheeses, fruits, bread) were gone. The kitchen staff could not keep up. Many guests standing and waiting for replenishment. This is unacceptable for a $24US daily charge.
The bright spot of my dismal stay is the kindness and good feelings of the staff. Front desk, restaurant and bartenders were all hard working and truly try to please the guests. They are 10/10. Excellent. All are bi-lingual, and some even have good Spanish language skills.
The hotel and Marriott Corp need to look into these shortcomings. Improvements are quickly needed. I will likely not return to this hotel until changes are made to restore things. There are other options in the city.
- theodord937 (10/5): Vacation - Great hotel with guest services always and willing to help with anything you need at a moment of time room are quality love the comfortibilty and seafe acces and every room anything needed they're are there to provided not to forget the restaurant on the ground floor great food bar tenders are awesome
- George_D74 (10/5): Better service than in Marriott Vancouver, BC - I never expected that level of service starting checking in through all 4 days and nights there. Tea is doing a great job and are striving to be even better. Everything is respectful, friendly, efficient. I may understand the frustration of some visitors, but I personally haven't experience anything else but very professionally executed hospitality.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice friendly staff and good food. comfortable environment
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The view, the resort, the lobby area. Beautiful place
- Andrea (10/5): - All the staff that I encountered at this hotel were extremely helpful, friendly and thoughtful. They were very kind to me when I had a problem on arrival with my credit card, and I am very grateful.
The quality of the food was good. The room was very clean and comfortable.
- Trotamundos09 (6/5): This is Haiti; Manage Your Expectations - Stayed here for several weeks for a business trip. The Marriott is one of the few hotels in Port-au-Prince (a city with high crime and political instabiity levels) with sufficient security for the international market. As a result, it has a semi-captive market and can charge a premium for mediocre services to the government/development/business travelers visiting Haiti.
PROS: Definitely secure (though I saw hotel security escort someone out of the gym who must not have been a guest/gym member, so how did he get in?). Hotel public areas (lobby/restaurant/pool area) are attractive. Comfortable beds. Fast and reliable wifi (free for Marriott members). A small refrigerator to keep beverages and other items cold. Decent gym with a variety of machines and weights. The few times I needed to ask the Front Desk for something, they were usually responsive. For example, there are no coffee makers in the rooms, but the hotel did loan me a hot water dispenser so I could make instant coffee.
CONS: We might have gotten truly hot water one day throughout my entire stay. Most of the time, it was lukewarm at best. For a few days, there was no hot water at all; the hotel apologized with a letter saying some work was going on. Replacing towels seemed to be hit-or-miss proposition, with some days getting a full complement of new towels, with other days lucky to get a bath towel. Restaurant is expensive even by U.S. Standards, and service could be very slow. TV channels are plentiful, though service was occasionally interrupted. The broadcasts are not in HD, which is probably all for the better since the TV set in my room had about six circular spots that were brighter than the rest of the screen. Others also complained about this, so it seems the hotel bought a batch of defective TV sets from LG.
In summary, if you are an international traveler -- especially one on business -- your employer will probably insist you stay here (or at a couple of other hotels rated for good security). You will be safe but, otherwise, your stay won't be anything to write home about.
- ColleenSreya (6/5): Reasonably comfortable but nothing special - Currently staying at the hotel for a 3 week business trip. On the plus side, it's a modern hotel with comfortable beds (actually one of the best mattresses I've ever slept on, including my own at home!) and attentive security. There is a pool, gym, and restaurant on site, taking care of most basic needs. There are a few nice surprises, too - they host local artisans on Sundays to sell their wares, giving you an opportunity to buy some souvenirs, and there is a small shop connected to the building with some interesting gift items along with your basic travel sundries. The room has a small refrigerator that is nice for longer stays, and the hotel provides 2 bottles of water a day.
Unfortunately, there are also several frustrating things that make it less than ideal for long-term stays. The bedrooms contain no drawers except for the two inside the closet, so it's awkward for unpacking. The room service is extremely uneven - I've returned from work to find the bed made every day, but it's a gamble on whether the glasses have been cleaned, towels cleared out and replaced (sometimes all the towels taken out but no new ones brought in), shower area cleaned, or even for the garbage to be taken out. It sometimes takes 3 or 4 calls to the desk to get anything like towels delivered to the room. The pool, while large, is in the midst of the patio tables and bar music playing, so it's not very relaxing. And the gym desperately needs a better ventilation system; the equipment looks good, but I haven't been able to bring myself to use it. My colleagues have had varying success or failure with the air conditioning in the rooms - some can't stop it from getting down into the lower sixties, others have it cut out on them and the room gets stuffy and warm.
The restaurant has a pretty limited menu selection and it's quite expensive. Breakfast, if you don't have high enough Marriott status, is $24 a day; there is also a "cafe" in the main lobby where you can buy muffins, croissants, etc, and that's generally been what I do for breakfast instead. Restaurant service isn't 100% either, I've had orders taken down wrong and it can be difficult to get anyone's attention even when it's not busy.
Finally, weekends can be rather noisy in the hotel with large groups coming in by the busload; generally these seem to be groups coming in for missionary work, staying in Port au Prince for a couple of days before heading elsewhere. While I appreciate their dedication and hard work for the people here, they also seem to be rather rambunctious groups and change the tone of the hotel dramatically - seeing as I was woken up before 6am today by a rousing chorus of "happy birthday" for my next-door neighbor, I'm a little less charitably inclined at the moment.
Overall, it's a reasonable option for a trip into Port-au-Prince, but don't expect a 5-star experience.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Clean hotel. Staff are wonderful. The food is excellent.
- Bert (10/5): best hotel in PAP - Best hotel in PAP
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Nice hotel, the security is good and very to the airport.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very clean environment and Staff were awesome.
I would come back next time
- Amy (10/5): - The rooms and the surroundings are very nice and clean. The staff are marvelous.
The food are a bit expensive. Overall, excellent experience.
- DG (10/5): - nice, comfortable, please try the ice cream also.
good experence.
- Marco (10/5): - Awesome couldn’t ask for more definitely will be back
- Doaldo (10/5): Great place overall - We had a nice family stay, staff was helpfull and courteous overall. Our room was spacious and clean. No complains about the guests wi-fi neither. Restaurant was good, food was delicious although menu is limited and service slow. Not much to do around the place and surrounding areas feels somewhat unsafe. Moving around the city is another issue, but you'll be fine if you are open to a different experience. I loved Haiti and it's people.

- Marie (8/5): Nice hotel - I enjoyed staying there although the food is lousy and costly
- Connoisseur (8/5): Review of Restaurant - I was disappointed with the food, food service and cost of the meals. There is deception in what you pay for at the restaurant. Unknowing to most diners, there is a service charge AND extra tip included in your food bill prior to paying. Of course one pays a tip on top of a tip and what is the 10% service charge for? No one could really explain. The hotel is located where there aren't restaurants and one has to eat at the Marriott restaurant. Food gets quite boring and tasteless after a while. Far too expensive.
Hotel room was good, except it was difficult finding a room that didn't smell of mildew. Room service was very good.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Don't Miss Out! - I am a huge fan of "Marriott Port-au-Prince". I always make sure to stay for at least one night every time I go to Haiti. The service is upbeat; the staff very friendly and attentive; the food as delicious to lick up one's fingers; breakfast is varied between Haitian and exotic cuisines and nutritionally well balanced; the room and bathroom very clean and comfortable; TV with international channels, fast-speed WiFi and also free; a very nice freezer, but no microwave. My favorite spot in this hotel is the outdoor pool because it is always caressed by the warmth of lady Haiti.
Among the staff, I especially salute chef Doddy for his succulent dishes and Pouloute for his remarkable diligence as a waiter. Thank you, guys!
This is an excellent hotel to stay in. So far, after numerous stays, I still do not have any complaints. I believe you will also enjoy your stay as a guess. Please go for it!
