Guest Reviews
- urockmaggie (10/5): Lake Lodge Cabins, Yellowstone National Park - Such a great stay! Cabin in between rustic, not rustic. Cafeteria, gift shop and bar, very close. 2 minute walk. Beautiful view of the lake.
- Randall (6/5): - This was our only stay at a facility inside the park. The cabin was very small and offered no real amenities. The shower was small. The cabin needed to be renovated.
- Tony (6/5): - The cabins aren’t the best but location is amazing. That’s what you’re paying for.
- Jil (4/5): - We were excited to stay in cabins near the lake in Yellowstone. After speaking with 3 different staff members about dinner accommodations, I was finally told the dinning room was fully booked weeks ahead of time. Only onsite food options were mediocre burgers at the cantina or 3 appetizer choices at the bar. Nearest restaurant 30 minutes away. Stunning to me that they would book hundreds of guests while not having the ability to provide a meal for them.
- crazymooselady (6/5): Mediocre - We stayed at the Lake Lodge Cabin. The cabin is very small. Carpet is stained and you can hear the other tourists in their cabins. Dining room reservations were not available until after 9pm and you had to call way in advance. Lunch in the Lake Hotel was limited items and expensive. Well, everything is expensive just know that going in. Not too many places to eat and you are not to cook in your room.
- Jessica (8/5): - A great hotel in Yellowstone.
I only stayed one night but the cabin I stayed in was clean, large and cozy. Although the cabin did get cold rather quickly (it was late Sep to be fair). The cabin did have a heater which partially warmed the room up. But by morning the area by the door especially became really cold.
Wyllie's canteen was good. The selection was pretty minimal but it was coming to the end of the season. Still was able to get a hot meal after a long day.
There is no wi-fi within the cabins but there is in the main lobby with enough seating by the fireplace to catch up on a few messages.
- Jill (10/5): - Staff are super friendly. The room was nice and clean. So neat that Elk and Mule Deer would be walking just outside our door. It was nice having laundry access but walking back to the car was very dark. It would be nice to have some outdoor lighting in the parking area but there may be a good reason for that. The food was just ok but not surprising from all the reviews.
- Kelsey (10/5): - Nice clean room. Beautiful area surrounded by water and elk. The food is just OK, but the fact that it's available in the hotel is super convenient. My only wish would be to have more coffee options.
- Seaside474041 (10/5): Lake Lodge cabins - Great place to stay in Yellowstone Park - super comfortable and less busy than other areas. Cabins are well maintained and heated.
- Chad (10/5): - Staff was friendly, awesome views. Lodge was cool.
- 197virgilw (6/5): Good value if on sale - Reserved this cabin on sale.
Good - location in park, price compared to other properties.
Bad - shower is ridiculously small, handrails at cabin entrance stairs were rotting, only one electrical plug (no other way to charge phones and camera batteries), carpeted floor was dirty, restaurant was terrible, overpriced, and out of about half of the menu items, paved surfaces in property had so many potholes it was difficult to drive or walk on.
- Cherie (8/5): - Right in the middle of the park. A couple of days before closing for the season so cafeteria options and hours were limited. Views of the lake were beautiful and some walking paths in front of the property were nice.
- Wan-Yong (4/5): - no tv, no internet, no fridge. high price though low satisfaction. please, stay outside of park. it's not far from there!
- Ronald Dwayne (10/5): - Lake lodge cabins is a great property right in Yellowstone National Park. Its old but very comfortable. No TV, spotty Wi-Fi…. I love it. You and nature. The main lodge is quiet, cozy and comfortable. It has a general store and the restaurant has good food with the best view in the world, Lake Yellowstone!
- trina607 (2/5): Terrible food not clean - They didn’t have many food options and didn’t even give you what you ordered. For the price it was terrible the burger was cold and dried up. They forgot the pepper jack cheese and when we said something threw provolone cheese on the plate and gave it to us. There was garbage and socks in front of the cabin. Mammoth Springs is a much better choice
- rvs752025 (2/5): So old - We were very disappointed with the condition of the cabin during our stay. From the outside, it appeared extremely old and uninviting. The door was difficult to open, very old, and rickety. Inside, the paint in the shower was peeling off the wall, and the wood in the window frame was crumbling and deteriorating.
Considering the high price we paid, the standard of accommodation was unacceptable. We have never experienced such poor conditions for such an amount of money.
- juniorsl2025 (10/5): The best place in Yellowstone - This place was awesome. Very dog friendly. Gorgeous views. Sunrises from the lodge porch were great. The room was very clean. Would definitely stay again
- WENDY (2/5): - The lodge is across the road from the lake with trees blocking full open view of the lake. There are NO lights outside other that dim ceiling lights on the front porch, making it very unsafe at night time!
Steve at the check-in dest was VERY rude & condescending! So rude we will never stay here when we return to Yellowstone, if we do.
- Anne (8/5): - The room had everything we needed and in a convenient location for exploring the park. The only down side was the timing. Approaching the close of season the hotel facilities were running down and the food choices in the on site restaurant were almost zero by the end of our stay. A full menu was still available up the valley in Canyon though, just had to plan around it.
- MICHELEA (8/5): - It's a lovely garage appartment
- Carole (10/5): - Good location with beautiful view of the lake inside Yellowstone National Park. Lodge main room and porch were comfortable for just relaxing. All staff were very friendly and helpful.
- samanthahanson2025 (6/5): Very disappointed - There is no WiFi in the cabins. The dining area was out of most items - leaving us stranded on this property with very few options. The staff was apologetic, but nothing they could do to remedy. The dining area was unclean including many flies. We stayed here 9 years ago and it was great. The property has really declined.
- Olliheu (2/5): Underwhelming - Our pioneer cabin was absolutely filthy. There were plenty stains on the sheets and the carpet, inside the bathroom the painting came off the walls and next to the bed stood a huge boiler. Moreover, die there was a huge gap under the door so it got really cold during the night and we did not trust the heating since there was no fire alarm in the cabin. It was so nasty that we had to cancel our second night. By far our worst yellowstone experience (and we also stayed in old faithful and mammoth cabins which were much better). Very disappointing, they really should not rent these cabins any more.
- jessbC6718TP (2/5): United Stated Government Fails - This was my first time visiting Yellowstone and it was the off season. We expected our room to be small but it was very dated and not maintained. The food available was disgusting & a huge disappointment after 14 miles of hiking that day. As an American I was embarrassed. Stay outside the park.
- moxieme63 (8/5): Cozy and Clean - I was prepared to "camp" and was pleasantly surprised on how nice our cabin was. It was pretty small but clean and comfortable. Our room was handicap accessible, comfortable full size bed (made for great snuggling) and had a coffee machine with coffee and teas. There were also shampoo, body wash and such.
I loved the Lodge where there was a coin operated laundry, gift shop, restaurant and great seating for relaxing. The front porch has rocking chairs that overlooked the lake. Wifi there too in the Lodge. There is also a water bottle refilling station and an ice machine at the Lodge.
- BorisLa75 (4/5): Little comfort for a lot of money - The cabins don't offer much in the way of amenities. The heating is loud (had to be left on constantly, as the cabins have little to no insulation), there's no toaster or microwave or anything similar. We expect more for this price. Since you have to drive within the park anyway, we recommend looking for a hotel outside the park.
As can be seen from other reviews, you cannot see the Lake from any of the cabins because of the rows of trees.
- 976geshm (4/5): Don't Eat at Wiley's - Wiley's Cafe was the worst experience in Teton or Yellowstone. Stupid kiosk ordering system was overly complicated, hard to read, time-consuming and unnecessary. Use actual people! Food was awful and the staff slow and inattentive. I'd rather eat cold food from the general store.
The dining room was supposed to send an email about making reservations, but we never got it. We only ate there for breakfast, but it was pretty bad too, Powdered eggs and cold bagels. But still better than Wileys.
We ate lunch at the the Mammoth Springs hotel and it was much better. Sorry to dwell on the food, but you are a captive audience when in Yellowstone, so I guess they think they don't have to try very hard.
Our room was very clean and pleasant.
- susanmC990YT (2/5): Awful and incredibly expensive. - -Incredibly expensive for what you get.
-Very cold and heater exceptional noisy so couldn’t leave on overnight.
-Extra blankets covered in someone’s hair
-No housekeeping even though we requested it
-WiFi only in reception area, weak and frequently cut out
-Only food self service fast food place which was not good.
- Not a good experience at all.
- Olga D (10/5): - It was a good stay.
The room was clean, and the staff were friendly.
- Agnes (10/5): - Rustic, pristine
- Lindsay (10/5): Beautiful - The cabin we had H18 was fantastic. 2 queen beds with plenty of space. Everything was well maintained and clean. The main lodge was beautiful and a great place to hang out in the evening. Being towards the end of the season the restaurant was low on options for dinner, but we made it work.
- R1505RSjeffreyb (2/5): Avoid - Avoid at all costs! No tv no WiFi beds to small cabins absolutely freezing food in the cafeteria cold drinks really expensive at bar and no range of choice staff look uninterested, I’m on a road trip and stayed in many hotels all been fine im not one to moan but this one is no good at all
- mloera94 (10/5): Great! - Cute little cabins and very quiet. We were on the go most of the time. But perfect place to sleep for the night after a long day of adventure. Bed was a bit small though and did affect our sleep overall.
- DrtMdDe (2/5): Lake Lodge Cabins are in the park with nothing more to offer - Our cabin was old and somewhat decrepit. No airconditioning but fortunately we didn't need it in September. The coup de grace was that internet was only available in the main building. In 2025 you can't have internet in a cabin? At the high prices Xanterra demands in Yellowstone. The fed government should reconsider whether Xanterra should continue (miss)managing the Yellowstone lodges.
- Lucyloo963 (6/5): Inside park is wonderful, but low value for cost per night. - Cabin was clean but soooo basic I felt I was back at girl scout camp. Staff was pleasant and helpful. Food quality, barely eatable. Overall value for cost, 3 at best. Almost $500. per night, no breakfast, poor wi-fi. Best dinner was at Grant Lodge dinning room.
- sharkach8 (8/5): Nice Stay in Lake Lodge Cabins Near Yellowstone Lake - As with all of the lodges at Yellowstone, we feel that it was very overpriced, but of the 3 park lodges in which we stayed, this was by far the best. It was the cleanest and had the most useful space. The parking was easy as we were right in front of our room. There were 4 adjacent lodging spaces in the cabin. We did hear some noise from neighbors, but not excessive. We were fortunate to be on the end, so there was only one room beside us. We could not see the lake, but were in close proximity.
- Richard (10/5): - Perfect location inside Yellowstone. Watched a full moon rise and beautiful sunrise over the Lake. Near the Hotel and visited for cocktails. Loved the Lodge rocking chairs on the porch. It was quiet and uncrowded. Perfect.
- Richard (6/5): - We were in a Rustic cabin. It was inexpensive. You get what you pay for. The shower and room had not been updated. We loved the location. We upgraded to a nicer cabin our second night.
- Dara (10/5): - A little overpriced
- Xiqun (10/5): - Our family loved our stay! The view is stunning and the short hike is right there!
- Andy_S_traveller (4/5): Not like the pictures show - We booked the lodges as we thought we would have a Lakeside view. We couldn't be more wrong with our room 8 rows back with no cabins having any view of the lake. It looks like some industrial estate . The pictures you see are of the main lodge where you can eat and which has nice views of the lake. The toilet didn't flush in the cabin although they did repair this. Housekeeping wasn't great. Food at the lodge very limited with only burgers to choose from.....they had sold out of fish and chicken for both nights
Overall very poor and felt we had been missold and we left a day early.
- helenfee (6/5): the property is fine, staff is great - the cabin as represented on the website is NOT what we walked into. pioneer cabin on the xanterra web site shows a room with paneling on the walls, pine furniture, etc. reality: dirty walls, a huge water heater next to the bed, a lasso-type rope for locking the door. if you go make sure you have flashlights/headlamps to find the place.
- juliabK8693KJ (4/5): Horrid little cabin, good location - Good points: lovely lobby with view of lake so location a real winner. Great to already be in the park at sunset and sunrise without a drive in or out.
Bad points: where to start?! The cabin was awful: cramped, filthy with peeling paint in shower and grubby sink.
Conclusion: the location simply not enough to overcome the accommodation
- markjordank (6/5): Camping Indoors at the Old Faithful Inn - The Old Faithful Inn is less a hotel and more a time machine with plumbing. You step into that vast log-cabin lobby, all beams and fireplace, and you can practically hear Teddy Roosevelt clearing his throat. On charm, the place is untouchable. On comfort? Well…let’s just say the geyser isn’t the only thing blowing off steam.
Our room was located in what felt like another national park altogether. After trudging the equivalent of a ranger-led hike down a hallway that stretched into next week, we arrived at our door. Options: service closet or exit to the great outdoors. We chose door number three—turns out it was actually our room.
Once inside, it was like wrestling into jeans from your college years. Everything fit, technically, but only if you turned sideways, held your breath, and accepted the loss of circulation. I mapped the terrain like General Patton planning a night raid: bed borders here, suitcase obstacles there, sharp-cornered furniture lying in wait for midnight bathroom runs. At my age, a stubbed toe is not just a nuisance; it’s a potential evacuation by helicopter. Hence, the flashlight—retrieved from the car like a sacred relic—became part of my survival gear.
Ah, the shower. Imagine a faucet with multiple personality disorder: cold drizzle, sudden scald, random pause, repeat. It was like being interrogated by water. La pièce de résistance? A shower curtain that bravely held the line for all of five seconds before allowing Lake Yellowstone to form on the bathroom floor. My "towel" (generously sized for a toddler) quickly doubled as a makeshift flood control device.
And then there was the two-person shuffle, performed nightly as we tried to share a room clearly designed for either one person or two very small hobbits. Arms, elbows, and tempers collided as we prepared for dinner—though to be fair, watching Old Faithful erupt at sunrise the next morning did soothe the bruises.
The truth is, location is the Inn’s biggest selling point and its biggest problem. Yes, you’re steps from the geyser. But so are several thousand of your closest friends, all funneling into the dining hall for food that makes you nostalgic for elementary school cafeterias.
So here’s the verdict: The Old Faithful Inn is like camping indoors with bragging rights. You’ll have stories to tell, but don’t expect luxury, or even much sleep.
⭐️⭐️⭐️ out of 5.
One for the history, one for the location, and one for the absurd comedy of the whole thing. The missing two are buried somewhere under that puddle outside the shower.
- Tammy (4/5): - The people working at the registration desk were very unlikeable. I never saw any of them smile or greet anyone. No welcome or hello when we entered or thank you for staying with us when we left. Very unprofessional desk crew.
- drronhughes (8/5): Read Your Room Description Carefully!!! EV Charging. - Book very early and if you have difficulty walking, be sure to insist on an ADA room. Most cabins have steps that may be difficult to negotiate and/or paths that may be steep. Rooms with beds described as "doubles" are really only comfortable for one adult.
EV charging was much improved over my visit of 3 years ago. Lake Hotel/Lodge Security staff will escort you to a charging station and provide transportation to your car when you are ready to pick it up. Note that you likely will not be able to use your phone to monitor charging as cell service in the area is very poor to non-existent. Be sure to have your own charging cord and plugs (including a 50 AMP plug). On my first nigh needing a charge, the Security staff directed me to an RV space where I was able to use my 50 AMP plug. Fantastic!
- Cindy (6/5): - It wasnt that clean when we checked in. There's no TV, internet, or a fridge.
- wahaha008 (8/5): Convenient ladge - In room bathroom, friendly reception, but no wifi in room, full bed difficult for 2 adults, heating noisy, parking lot dusty
- SunnyGirl1919 (10/5): Lake Lodge Cabins - I really enjoyed my stay at Lake Lodge Cabins. It was pretty close to centrally located. Canyon is probably the most centrally located, but Lake Lodge was quite a bit cheaper. I expected the cabins to be a bit more rustic, but they were updated nicely.
- Morislunn (6/5): - The lodge facing the lake was beautiful, cabins are away from any views, no landscaping at all, no in room TV, AC or wifi. Room was neat and clean.
- Craig (10/5): - We enjoyed our stay at the Lake Lodge Cabins, the rooms are clean and everything works.
- Stay240332 (10/5): Great value and good location - We had the Pioneer cabins for a 3 night stay. The best value in the park, but they really need to be upgraded. Great location to see the whole park. The cafe was available for all three meals and the food was okay.
- DonL461 (4/5): Mistake chose if accommodations - Not good , nothindonline picture wise was anything close to the real thing. Need more accurate descriptions of surrounding area and accommodation choices.
- Robert (10/5): - Perfect location for the east side of Yellowstone
- 958kristy (10/5): Yellowstone Lake Loge Cabin review - Great place to stay and immerse yourself in all that Yellowstone has to offer! The staff is friendly and helpful and the services are well-placed to be available when needed.
- mjdchenault (2/5): The Pioneer Cabins are worse than sleeping in a tent. - We have stayed in dozens of National Park properties, including very basic but clean accommodations like the Swiftcurrent Motor Inn Cabins. We understand that "historic" accommodations often mean small and basic...
however our Pioneer Cabin had multiple, well developed spider webs in the bathrooms, dirty finger streaks across the door, bath tissue very obviously shoved in gaps between the windows and frame... exposed, broken off, unpainted chunks of particle board for the walls. Several ceiling tiles were doing their best to fall off. There was a notable gap between the bottom of the door and the threshold...
perhaps worst, the heater couldn't be turned off, only turned to "low", so when we arrived mid-afternoon, the cabin was sweltering and we could barely drop our stuff and get out of there fast enough, when we would have preferred to shower and relax after a multi-day trip in the backcountry.
We camp, we stay in cheap motels in small towns, our standards are pretty low... but this place was actively falling apart, and clearly nothing was being done to maintain it (or clean it). I can only hope they let them get this bad because they're about to do full renovations, so they can't even spare a maintenance guy spending 5 minutes to caulk the window gaps... We paid $150 per night, and I think $80 for this place would have maybe been too much... if it wasn't in a National Park it would have been a $45 room.
Xanterra cares for some of the grandest hotels in Yellowstone... I just can't believe they allow the Pioneer Cabins to reach such a state of decay, it's ridiculous.
- Terruyo (10/5): No wifi in our room and loved it! - Beautiful location and cozy atmosphere in the main lodge and cabins. Did not have wifi in the room so our kids ended up exploring the nature around the property, saw some wild life like fox, deers, and bears! We loved the screen-free stay but beware if that's an issue for you.
We were not impressed with the food, but it's hard to expect more considering the remote location. I would bring more of my own food next time.
- Cathy (8/5): - No washcloths in cabin. Confusing on checking at correct property
- robinrbr (6/5): Disappointing cabin - no Yellowstone charm - This was our most disappointing stay in Yellowstone. No charm at all in the cabin area. It wasn’t as clean as the other lodges and our power went out. This just isn’t an area I want to spend more time in either.
- Patricia (4/5): - The window in the bathroom did not stay closed. The bathroom door did not close properly. The shower had peeling paint.
I found multiple hairs on the bedding. For the price, it was much more rustic then advertised.
- Takazawa (4/5): - Bathroom is too dirty. The bed is making noise.
- Jean (8/5): - The property is absolutely beautiful. The view from the front of the property looking over the lake is stunning in the evening. The large lodge where you check in is amazing with a fireplace and great store and restaurant. The cabins are pretty small and could use some updating, but are clean.
- Kimberly (10/5): Must Stay - We stayed in the cabins, so comfy, the lodge was fantastic, bar, dining, Breakfast, phenomenal view of Yellowstone lake from the front porch of the lodge!
- Joycelyn (10/5): - Lodge was very nice and convenient place to hang out at the end of the day, food at the restaurant was great but limited selection. BEAUTIFUL views and the cabin was super cute and comfortable. Reminded me of summer camp. Basketball court in lodge was posted to be for staff only which was a minor bummer for my teenage boys but overall a good place to stay and i would return.
- ashwin (6/5): - This was a cabin type property with limited amenities. Everything worked , plumbing and all. Rooms were kept clean but they should do a better job of refilling all the soap and lotion dispensers. For the price paid i don't think we got value.
P.S: there is NO internet in the rooms. So be warned if you need to stay connected. Some might say this is a good thing?
- Mike (6/5): - Everything was great except the beds.
Beautiful cabin just uncomfortable beds
- Yan (10/5): - very good
- Sharon (10/5): - This is my 2nd time staying at these cabins. You park right in front of your cabin. It is so quiet and peaceful here. You can walk down to Yellowstone Lake and enjoy even more peace and quiet. My favorite so far of all of the places that I have stayed inside the park.
- Callen (6/5): - Food was not good and heat was off so it was a very cold night
- Anitha (8/5): - Our cabin was very close to the lakeside so we had a good view of the lake. It does get very cold and we went in August. But the bathroom is heated so that was nice. There were a lot of bugs outside and that was the only negative. We dined at the Yellowstone Hotel dining room and we enjoyed that.
- betha123 (8/5): Lake Lodge Cabin - This was a very tiny cabin! It was okay for my husband and me, although the bed was small. The room was tiny, but it was really all we needed. There is a bathroom with sink in the room. No hot water in the room. Door locks were minimal, but I felt safe in the park. Baseboards and shower not the cleanest. It was fine.
- LisaT9517 (6/5): Yellowstone family trip - Other than the rodent party in the middle of the night, the room was ok for a night . The location is unbeatable .
- kek528 (6/5): Updated rooms, but lack amenities - Perfect for one or two nights… longer stays lacked amenities… food at Wylie‘s was terrible. Had to go to the grill or the dining room.
- Joseph (6/5): - Ok for a night
- Daydream53516420363 (2/5): Cabins need to be kept up. - Cabin was in terrible shape! Rocky walkway to get to rotten steps with exposed nails bison poop all over area. Inside cabin door did not close thoroughly gaping holes where insects got in. Shower was in need of a redo paint falling off walls. After taking shower we had pain on the bottom of our feet. Towels were only changed 1 time even though signs said daily if requested. Building where check in had no handicap parking had to walk quite a distance from parking lot.
- qztu (10/5): Good cabin - Newly renovated, parking in front of cabin. Great Lake views at the front porch of cabin office and dinning areas. We saw wildlife in the morning around our cabin.
- K4941EXmarina (2/5): Please lock the door after room cleaning service! - Our room door is left open and bed sheets are dirty when we check in. We wait almost 1 hr to get bed sheets changed around 10:30pm. It's dark and cold outside we keep drivng back and forth between room and lobby to check if any staff will come change the bed sheet. We're super sleepy but we have to fight tons of bugs and flies in room since the door is always open. My husband had to fight all of them before we slept. It's a horrible experience.
- Jamie (10/5): - We loved our stay at Lake Lodge cabin H12. It was clean and very comfortable. I highly recommend this location on Lake Yellowstone.
- JerrySanDiego (6/5): Experienced traveler who stayed at Lake Lodge cabin one night - The cabin is basic, providing electricity, a sink, shower, small bed and walls that are safe from a bear. The closest "cafe" is not much for variety. The price is high for these features however the location is wonderful.
- Samantha (10/5): - Loved it!!!!
- Z9705WRjenniferd (10/5): Family friendly vacation spot without crowds - Our family really enjoyed the cabins at this facility. We stayed four nights during our first trip to Yellowstone. The staff was able to get us side by side cabins so the family would not be separated, which we really appreciated.
After touring Yellowstone in a day, we were happy to come back to a less crowded area that didn't feel like it was over-full of tourists. We felt like we had the area to ourselves with only minimal neighbors (even though just about every cabin was booked), which added to the overall feel we were looking for.
The only "average" score I gave was in sleep quality. The mattresses were a bit firm for my taste, but that was easily overshadowed by all the perks of the cabins/area.
Highlights of the cabins: easy access to trails, abundance of wildlife, lake view/hike is amazing, and easy access to restaurants and general store.
Our family would definitely stay here again and again on our next trips to Yellowstone.
- jpetjr (8/5): Good for families - The cabins were roomy and a good value compared to other accommodations in the park. Also a great porch at the lodge for viewing the Yellowstone Lake and wildlife. We would stay again.
- RDavis222 (10/5): Very Nice Stay - Staff were efficient and friendly, surroundings so beautiful, cabin clean and comfortable with good amenities.
- B566NRrandyk (10/5): A great time - It was wonderful. The room was good, the views were amazing, and the people were very friendly! We had stayed outside the park for 3 nites in Cody, then stayed here our last night. T he e restaurant was a little on the limited side, but everything else was exemplary.
- 890JayR (6/5): Location, location, location - The cabins made Motel 6 look like a resort but they were clean and accommodations are a monopoly in the park so you just have to have low expectations
- stltqueen (6/5): Cabins-Great Location - The Lake Lodge cabins have a great location that is central to the Yellowstone sights. The Pioneer cabins are lacking indoor and outdoor seating, ice buckets and hair dryers, so bring your own.
- Vipul (2/5): - We got discriminated based on our skin. At checked time, we were asked whether we are not going to cook in room.. Strange, travel over 35 years. My kids room's siding door did not locked, very dangerous. After checkout management, called us, whether we used needles to take drug. I work for federal govt, where top rate security/criminal, felony clearance required

- lol9296 (8/5): A relaxing experience staying in Yellowstone by the lake. - Last minute reservation to stay inside Yellowstone National Park. A fun experience to enjoy minimal amenities. No TV, which is fine with us. There was no air conditioning, but with the windows open (screens on the windows) and the fan going the room was comfortable. At night it is quiet and was able to sleep well. The main lodge was easy to walk to. There is a canteen at the lodge to have dinner or breakfast. It was nice to sit on the porch in rockers, play cards, watch the sunset over the lake, and see the bison and elk in the morning. Be aware to take mosquito repellent if you plan to walk by the lake.
If you want noise, and modern amenities, and technology and hustle and bustle this place is not for you. Stay here if you want to be in the park and enjoy a quiet, and tranquil stay.
- shreya16aug (8/5): Cozy rooms with a great view - The view and services were great where there was a cafe, general store and even wifi services. The rooms maybe slightly smaller but decently clean.
- Sandra (8/5): - Beautiful Place with a very large sitting area on the front porch to look at the lake. The cabins are very clean but SMALL. Beds are double so can be snug. You have to climb steps to get into them, and if you have mobility issues that makes it difficult. Only stayed one night as it is pricy, food was good, but also pricy for what you get. Price is about the same for the area though. Experience was great and we would do it again.
- GrandTour18576376221 (6/5): Get what you pay for - Beautiful area by lake, small room, small bed, uneven floor in bathroom, need fans in all rooms, hole in screen so didnt want to open window for mosquitoes, lock needs adjusted
- Susan (10/5): - We liked close proximity to Lake Hotel. Loved hearing string quartet!
- Jet777432 (6/5): Clean but basic room - Paying a premium to stay inside of Yellowstone. Lake lodge cabins are that cabins that are only used 3-4 months of the year. Cafeteria food options were poor, no fridge in the room, ice was far away. Shower was cold. Not because of a lack of hot water, the safety setting of the mixing valve didn't allow to mix in enough hot water :-(!
- Rhonda (8/5): - Very pricy per night like most Yellowstone in-park lodging. The view of the lake was excellent!! The wildlife was great. We saw bison & elk on the property. The only downside was we had no cell service & wifi was very slow and only availabile in the lobby. If you're looking to go off the grid & don't need anyone to reach you, this is the place.
- gator34747 (8/5): Stay here while in Yellowstone - The cabins (brown, not yellow) were so much better than at Old Faithful. The one double bed is only for 2 people. Larger area and bathroom.
- Pioneer43312460638 (10/5): Charming and Historic Lodge - Wonderful experience, great views, great location, great staff! Staying in the park was beautiful and convenient.
- 612Rick_R (6/5): great location, not so great amenities - We booked a rustic cabin in the Lake area of Yellowstone. I knew that the rooms were going to be light on amenities - as in, no TV - but was amazed that they did not have a microwave or a mini-fridge. Considering the high price for the room, I expected a little more of the "creature comforts". When replenishing supplies in our room, Staff only gave us decaf coffee. Otherwise, the size of the room and comfort of the beds were above average.
- cmainsworth (10/5): Yellowstone Lake Cabins - The cabins are small but nice. The bed is full size so small for two adults. There was coin laundry in main lodge which was helpful. We went with dogs. We did not realize before hand the dogs are NOT allowed on any walks anywhere in the park and you are not allowed to leave them unattended in the room/cabin or vehicle. I'm sure if you had a camper you could leave the dogs in it. Without a camper it pretty much means you can not do 90% of things you would want to do at the park. We were a couple so one had to stay with dogs while the other walked to site, then we swapped. We could not go see sights together. You can not take them on back country walks as dogs attract predators like bears and wolves to attack. Also you really need to bring your patience while there was every attraction is crowed with hundreds of people. You have to drive from place to place and traffic is heavy. I don't want this to sound bad. It would be a great place for a young family to walk around and explore. All of the staff was kind and helpful. Fishing appeared to be fabulous. If we had not had the dogs we would have loved to go on a horseback trail ride. The scenery is breathtaking.
- Jessie (10/5): - Incredible! Very clean property with a gorgeous view. Highly recommend.
