Guest Reviews
- Daniel (10/5): - Excellent.
- Allison (10/5): - The staff is excellent and the location is unbeatable. The room is dated and small but seeing as we were 10 yards from the rim of the grand canyon, who cares! Parking is a bit of a challenge but we knew that when we made the reservation. So glad we stayed here
- Tracy (10/5): - It is right on the rim of the Grand Canyon! Stunning views!!
- Clifford (4/5): - Check-in was at the El Tovar, not Kachina so I parked in the wrong place initially. My room "key" didn't work and took a long time to resolve and get in.
- RODNEY (10/5): - The view from our window was amazing.
- Peter (8/5): - Drab interior but ok room with a partial view of the South Rim
- Irene (10/5): - Grand Canyon right outside our window!
- Suresh (10/5): - The property is in need of an upgrade, like most federal lodges. Old carpets and rooms have a distinct unpleasant smell. Staff, transport and convenience to views is the saving grace.
- Dean (10/5): - Great view of the canyon
- Edward (10/5): - Fantastic view!
- Trevor (8/5): - Clean room comfortable, overpriced
- Manuel (10/5): - Location and views are amazing. Loved to have options for dining walking distance. This is a magical area to stay in. Hotel and room are OK, but the location and area is just amazing. Parking was difficult when checking in the afternoon.
- Joanne (10/5): - It's on the rimbof the Grand Canyon
- Elaine (10/5): - It was wonderful to wake up with a view of the canyon. My sunrise walks every day gave my beautiful views and photos
- Jan (8/5): - An excellent location, the room a bit worn down.
- Jennifer (8/5): - Location and view were amazing.
- Adiba (8/5): - Basic lodging at the Grand Canyon Village. Rooms and the lodge itself are pretty old but well maintained. The canyon is steps away so it's very convenient for elderly and those with littles.
Only gripe is regarding the food - restaurants are dine in only. A single cafe offers take out. Sometimes it's not every convenient after a long day hiking with littles to do a sit down dinner. Especially when they're tuckered out.
Bus stop to tour the south rim is steps away as well. Overall, would stay again and recommend for families traveling.
- Thomas (8/5): - Location
- Saul (10/5): - Need additional Parking!
- Max (10/5): - Great place to stay for families and right on the edge of the canyon. Beautiful views and a lot of wildlife. Food options were good and good views. Some staff weren’t unkind but just obviously not in the greatest of moods.
- shirley (10/5): - Location, location, location!! We were very happy with our location right on the Rim of the Canyon. Our granddaughter loved being able to wake up and see the view and even a big horn walked right by on the Rim walk in front of our window! It was the perfect experience/location!!
- Yui (6/5): - Overprice
- Jacek (6/5): - It is convenient, but rooms are old, and not all staff are nice
- Wendy (8/5): - Beautiful canyon view from our room and goats grazing right outside the window when we woke up! The room was nice, spacious and had a wonderful location inside the park.
- Thomas (8/5): - Lodge is more modern and in good shape, but it’s no 3 star. Still, it’s right on the path along the rim and it’s clean enough and nice enough. You can’t beat that and it’s better than staying anywhere in Tusayan. Not that Tusayan is bad, it’s just not right on the rim of the Grand Canyon.
- timothy (6/5): - Nice place great location but the place is a little run down needs to be remodeled
- Katherine R (10/5): Grand Canyon - The Kachina Lodge sits on the south rim of the Grand Canyon. It has a wonderful room to sit and read, play cards or just look out at the most amazing view. The rooms are well appointed, super clean and very comfortable. You are also right there to see the beautiful sunsets and sunrises over the Grand Canyon.
- Donny (10/5): - The rooms are clean and well stocked with clean towels and toiletries. The lady at the front desk (Phyllis) is the nicest lady ever, she is very helpful with things to do. The only challenge is parking. Unless you want to walk for up to 10 minutes, arrive early then parking is a snap. Arrive late and you will be walking uphill for a good bit.
- Kode (10/5): - The lodge meets our needs- convenient to the sites we want to see. Parking is first come first serve but there are other lots to park. Staff were professional. No on site dining & shopping.
Suggest yo upgrade the towels.
- PAUL (10/5): - Have lon
- Robert (10/5): - Great views of the Canyon!
- Earle (6/5): - Property is starting to seem tired and dated.
- Her (10/5): - Amazing hotel
The location is excellent, the view is beautiful!
- Amanda (8/5): - This property is amazing - nothing compares to staying within the park. My only issue was a small complaint about housekeeping. We stayed for three nights: first day no housekeeping at all. Second day, housekeeping replaced cups/coffee. Beds were never made or any attempt to tidy the room. Regardless - it was amazing to stay at the rim!
- cecilia (8/5): - The Grand Canyon Village is a unique, beautiful area to stay. However, the lodge and room are quite outdated and in serious need for updating.
- William (10/5): - Loved it!
- Daniel (10/5): View from your room!! Amazing - If you have an opportunity to upgrade to the room with a view of the Grand Canyon do it! We did and it was amazing waking up to sunrise overlooking the canyon.
- Kevin (6/5): Average lodging in a stunning place. - We were quite tired by the time we reached the hotel. The key card given to us took several tries to work. Then later didn't work. I was given a new set of key cards and they didn't work. We went back to the front desk again and a maintenance worker came back to make sure the cards worked, which they didn't but he then got them to work. It also took me over an hour on the phone to get the wifi to connect. The room was average with an above average price. The bathroom was small with very little counter space. The mini fridge vibrated in its cabinet, especially noticeable at night. The Lodge is dated with no particular charm.
- Greg (6/5): - Overpriced, old, bad parking, limited restaurants, average dinning.
Great view of the canyon from the second floor canyon view rooms
- Robert (10/5): - The Grand Canyon!
- Traci (10/5): - We had a great view from our room of the canyon which was lovely. Everything was walkable! Only hiccup, it was difficult to find parking for our rental car.
- Farzana (10/5): - This property is right on Grand Canyon. This was our first time staying here and loved it.
- Tammy (6/5): - The building is old and out dated, the walls are kind of thin. But...staying on the rim is pretty cool. We had a view of the canyon when we woke up in the morning :)
- Cynthia (8/5): - Dining options were difficult and long wait
Very little counter space in the bathroon for personal items for two persons. Expensive and out dated. The staff at El Tovar dest not good at directions, couuld be new and inexperienced since its the beginning of the season....if they were 70 or 80 yrs old and had to follow their own directions they would be lost and disoriented...had to ask others for help. One of the shuttle drivers went way out of her way to assist and direct us. She was amazing!
- Julius (10/5): - Beautiful views. Easy access to dining, shops, and canyon trails.
- Erika (10/5): - Great place to stay with the family. Great view right outside the door. Definitely will stay here again in the future
- Justin (10/5): - K
- James (6/5): Adequate for a National Park - For a National Park hotel it met expectations. The room was clean and comfortable but we did not receive service on the second day. The coffee was not replenished and trash was not emptied. The restaurant at the El Tovar was excellent.
- Tim (10/5): - Great place at the Rim
- Parastou (10/5): - We really enjoyed our time at this lodge. Our room had a view of the Canyon which was spectacular!
- Teresa (10/5): - Nice sized room right at the South rim with easy access to Grand Canyon shuttle buses and the other attractions in the village. Free parking. Walk to restaurants and interpretive center, shops, etc. near Bright Angel Trail. Rooms are standard hotel rooms. But the view…
- Theresa (8/5): - Best view of the Grand Canyon ever.
- Mary (6/5): - Dining at the trevo hotel was problematic. The host kept sitting at an unwanted or dirty table. Luckily and thankfully the manager helped me out both times
- Craig (8/5): - Liked the room. Everything worked.
Parking is tight, even in January. I had to park out on Village Loop Drive. The lodge had great views and costs alot.
- CRAIG (10/5): Steps away..... - Steps away from THE Grand Canyon
- Travis (10/5): - Cool
- kim (10/5): - The place was clean and quiet and had many options around the village to eat
- Melissa Gail (10/5): - Being right on the rim of thr Grand canyon was amazing! The parking situation can be a little bit of a headache but really the walk between El tovar & Bright Angel isn't bad just go to the rim & enjoy the view while you walk between.
- Soumya (10/5): - Excellent location and view from room. Decent and clean rooms.
However a microwave in room would have helped, and the elevator was not working.
- Allan (8/5): - It’s in the Grand Canyon
- Laura (10/5): - Stunning views steps away
- Dorothy (10/5): - Very nice lodge, restaurants expensive, check in is confusing to find
- Oscar (8/5): - Had to go to another hotel to check in, wasn't convenient at all.
- Cynthia (10/5): - I loved our stay. We got a room with a view. Great to wake up and walk the property. Also tons of beautiful pictures. We definitely will be back
- Deborah (10/5): - Wonder
- paul (8/5): - The view was spectacular
- Diane (10/5): - Very nice!
- david (6/5): - Dated room but incredible view. We were initially given a room that didn’t exist. After wandering around for quite awhile looking for it we finally found someone that told us it didn’t exist. Went all the way back to check in and were given an actual room. No real apology for our trouble. Just blamed the previous employ saying they didn’t know what they were doing. The area is amazing with incredible views.
- Donald (8/5): - Great.
- lisa (8/5): - Great location and view. A little dated.
- Jason (10/5): Nice - The view of the canyon was amazing. The room is centrally located and close to food and trails. Parking is not easy but it is expected at a popular national park.
- Praveen (10/5): - Location is perfect, very close to Bright Angel Trail. Dinning options are great. Facilities are nice. The only downside is parking, its hit or miss.
- Peter (10/5): Extended Stays Only - Great hotel for longer stays. Not really a one night hotel. That being said the accommodations were nice. The only downside was you needed to drive to the registration office and restaurants. Also no handicap parking
- Randall E. (10/5): - Perfect. for the cost and Awesome for loacation.
- Jim (8/5): - Overlooks the canyon. Walkable. Rooms are dated but updated, clean. Excellent staff.
- Andrew (10/5): - Amazing views and great location. Was gutted when they closed the park so we couldn’t stay for both our nights. The view alone is worth it but also you don’t have to queue to get in the park as you are already there.
- Alan (8/5): - After lunching at El Tovar we marched down to Kachina. There's no way in without a room key. We circled around until asking someone leaving that told us there is no desk, check in is at El Tovar and they did the same thing. Frustration quelled by being in one of the world's most beautiful natural wonder.
- Greta (8/5): - A good Lodge.
- John (8/5): - Close proximity to the canyon
- Travis (10/5): - Being on the edge of the GRAND CANYON is soo cool!!!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good location - Great location to the Grand Canyon. We loved that we could walk outside and be right on the rim. Wish the hotel had sliders to a patio but otherwise it was fine
- Vance (6/5): - place has going for it is its location. It’s very old and shows its age.
- John (10/5): - Cannot have a better location for the South Rim. 30 feet out the door and you are there. Just breath-taking!
- Suzanne (10/5): - This was a great find. Perfect location without the added expense. It is bare bones but met all our needs. Parking is tough though. But walking was just fine.
- Sharilyn (10/5): - The person at the desk at El Tovar was amazing. Very helpful and gave us so many options for food as we were so hungry.
- Rick (8/5): Manage expectations - Price at one of the world’s most amazing attractions was understandably high, but we did expect a better experience. Our door was jammed, and would not unlock. The reception /check in was in a different building (El Tovar) next door, & after two visits to the front desk later, a maintenance person arrived to get us into the room. The building needs refurbishing- it’s getting run down & shabby. Parking is a nightmare & we were warned not to move our car if we found a spot! That said - the location is amazing.
- JULIA (2/5): - Not worth for the money. Too costly for nothing
- Susan (10/5): Comfortable and convenient - Being right on the edge of the Grand Canyon is a definite plus. Except for the finicky key card / door locks, we enjoyed everything about our room. Well designed and comfortable.
- Jess (8/5): - Clean and efficient but not luxury. Check in was confusing.parking limited. But world class location on the Rim.
- Jeff (10/5): Grand Canyon Hotel - Location on the rim of the canyon cant be beat. Room is very clean and good sized for family. Would highly recommend.
- Ronald (6/5): - The property is Motel 6 level. TV reception was spotty. Being inside Grand Canyon was cool but the company that operates all the hotels knows they have a captive audience. Restaurant choices are minimal. The food and drink are minimalistic and pricey. Next time I’ll stay outside the park.
- Lisa (10/5): - Hotel room was excellent, clean, quiet and comfortable. Walkable to other hotels but other hotels had front desk, bar/lounge, and restaurany. This one did not but you could walk to others. Would be nice if there was a front desk or small bar to gather. Perhaps that is why it was so quiet which is great.
- Zarine (10/5): - The room does not have a microwave. I wish the room did. Great view of the Grand Canyon.
- Linda (8/5): - The room we were in had an outstanding view of the Grand Canyon. You need to book it as a canyon view room to get this.
Very convenient to the rim trail and other lodges and dining in the village. The room had very comfortable beds and was set up nicely.
The only big negative we had about this property was no desk at the facility, you check in at the El Tovar lodge next door which wasn’t a big problem but the key cards were not working well and we had to go back to El Tovar to keep getting them reprogrammed. At the end of the long days it was very inconvenient.
- Linda (8/5): Great Grand Canyon trip - Our night at the Kachina Lodge was nice. The Lodge is old and could use updating but our room was comfortable enough. You have to check in at hotel next door which isn't the most convenient with parking and luggage. We were there in January when it was on the the quiet side so I think during season getting a parking stop by Lodge could be a problem. But location was great.
- John (8/5): - We had a nice stay. In the off season price for the room is almost half and there were no crowds.
- Madelyn (8/5): - Views
- Laure (8/5): - Close to the Grand Canyon. No staff in the building overnight . Area is very dark at night .
- John (8/5): - Our room was 2nd floor facing grand canyon. Room was ok. Beds fair at best. All about location here.
- WENDY (8/5): - Parking can be so challenging
