• BAnneA (6/5): Ok stay - Our cabin and the food was ok, not outstanding. I guess if you want to be in the Park I'd consider it.
• 816richardn (4/5): Quite a disappointment! - We opted for one of the stand-alone cabins rather than the main hotel. We knew that there would be no TV or wifi - and were fine with that. What we were not fine with was that we shared the cabin with a colony of dust bunnies on the floor and under the beds. The room, the furnishings, the 120-grit towels, and beds - while not an epicurean's delight - would have been adequate and would have received 3 stars. Unfortunately, the cleanliness brought the review down to 2 stars. Our experience in the main dining room did nothing to improve our opinion of the establishment. Our server was quite pleasant and personable on first encounter, but thereafter we had to seek him out to finally take our order, bring condiments, and bring a clean glass to replace one with schmutz stuck to the inside. Never did he come back to our table on his own initiative to see how things were and if we needed anything; we had to flag him down. After finally providing the dessert menu, he spent 20 minutes talking with another couple on the other side of the dining room, showing them photos on his phone. I finally went over to tell him that, since he didn't want to take our order, I wanted the check. He then had the audacity to get indignant and declare "I was only talking to them!" Yes, talking to the exclusion of doing his job. Sadly, when all this was brought to the manager's attention, he just nodded and did nothing - not even offer a non-apology apology. This was by far the most unpleasant experience we had both near and inside Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks.
• cynthiadF8585DG (10/5): The Grand Lady of the Lake Shines! - Xanterra is very clear about the conditions and amenities in the Lake cabins. No TV, microwave, fridge. Furnishings are nice, with a desk and chair and table with two chairs. Little recycling slots in a free-standing stack of cubbies is for paper, plastic, and landfill items. Honestly, landfill items should be confined to waste baskets. I am not comfortable flinging used tissues or dental floss into the landfill cubby. Most cabins have one or two steps up to the door, but no handrails. if the weather is inclement, it would help to have something to grab onto; or even if it is nice day a handrail would be good. Wildlife will saunter by your cabin. The guest laundry at the Lake Lodge (a short drive away) is large and clean. Cost for wash/dry is very reasonable, and the machines have timers.Since retirement we have tried to visit every fall...fewer people and cooler weather. Still lots of folks, though, and attraction parking can be difficult. But since my first visit about 74 years ago, I always enjoy a trip to Yellowstone!

• M. (6/5): - Park was wonderful and plan to come again. Cabins were a notch above glamping. but had all you needed …a bed, a bathroom. Cabins were very basic …no TV, no refrigerator, no internet, no microwave but the beautiful park kept us busy. The location was stunning and I guess that’s what you end up paying for. Restaurant was overpriced but a nice break from cafeteria style. The Basque Cake was out of this world!
• Tamara (6/5): - Our room and bathroom were very clean, except for the large wood framework around the bathroom mirror. It looked like it hadn’t been wiped down in months and was disgusting to look at, a lot of toothpaste and soap spatter etc. Even though everything else was very clean. Neither Hotels.com nor Yellowstone Lake Hotel mentioned that dinner reservations needed to be made MONTHS in advance. We could not get a single dinner reservation at the hotel. Luckily we were able to buy breakfast at the hotel. The Breakfast buffet was good. Except for the “table boss” who made the host, march us, his customers, back out to her counter to ask HER if we could have an available table by a window. Then she was sarcastic about it. We watched her do it to everyone who asked. It was weird and ridiculous. We heard from other customers the dinners were overpriced and not great. So maybe we were spared that disappointment. We were able to dine at Yellowstone lodge 2 minutes drive away, no reservations required. Burger&fries place.

• Jolayne (6/5): - We stayed in the Sandpiper Lodge. The hotel is great. I would have liked to have stay there but there were no rooms available. The lodge is old. Rooms look like they are in severe need of upgrading. Everything is old and worn and in dire need of cleaning. We weren’t comfortable and slept poorly most nights. Bed was truly uncomfortable with not even a mattress cover over an old mattress. Not pleased. We tried our best but ended up leaving before our stay was up. The manager Ayla was easy to deal with on this matter and compensated us appropriately and was just truly one of the most understanding and caring people we have encountered. A+ service.

I had a situation where I needed to make a call and my cellphone was not working, so the woman at the desk just handed me her landline phone to make the call. Staff also escorted me to and from the EV charger in the employee quarters. They exceeded my expectations.
• Dance1973 (10/5): Lake Yellowstone in September - At the end of September '25 my husband and I arrived very late after a full day or travel and site seeing. The lobby was still hopping with diners and groups on tour catching up. Check in was easy. We were in a queen bed (we are used to a king) facing the lake and that was a very pleasant site in the morning. The room is modest, but very accommodating. Had everything we needed, but the pillows were very thin. There is an armoire to hang clothes and two luggage racks that we used. The bathroom was nice and remodeled, but we could not turn off the light at night. There was no maid service and maybe that's because it was September?, but we just requested towels when needed and they were brought right away. We closed our window the first day and figured out to keep it open while gone (there is a screen) because it gets hot. There is not central air, only heat. There is a little coffee shop that has made to order breakfast sandwiches, but not many pastries. We dined at the Lake Yellowstone Dining Hall one night and that was good and service was great even with our 9:15 reservation. The bar are was always busy. We ate at the Lodge another night and since it was the end of September our options were burger, hot dog or salad. There is not wi-fi in the hotel and the 5G reception was only good when by the window, but the Lodge right down the road has wi-fi if needed. We saw an Elk herd every day, they just stroll the whole property. Hotel was great for our stay in the park.
• bmah0n (2/5): Don't book a cabin unless you have no other option - Cabins are grossly overpriced for WWII-like barracks with no amenities whatsoever - no wi-fi, no cell service, no mini-fridge, no microwave, no view.
• Jessica (4/5): - There are not very many options to stay in the park, so we picked Yellowstone Lake based on the location and photos of the property. I thought we were staying in The main hotel building but were located to a very outdated room in the outside building next door. Way too expensive for the room we had. The staff was very nice when we went to get breakfast the next morning. It is a pretty long wait. Also we could not get dinner in the main building- you need reservations which we did not know beforehand. We went to a cafeteria down the street owned by the same hotel, and I do not recommend eating there. They were out of a lot of items and the food quality is poor. I do not recommend staying here.
• Brian (10/5): - Staff was wonderful! Very helpful and efficient! My only recommendation: when a patron requests a simple cup of coffee after paying for breakfast, exiting the dining room, then making the request only to be told that only those in the dining room could get it, was very off putting and not customer service oriented. The carafes outside the dining room had already been cleared so a simple request was not a big deal. Given the price we paid for three days accommodations with breakfast every day, I would expect better.
• Martha (10/5): Get away - Last minute trip to Yellowstone. Was shocked there were vacancies so we stayed there. Very quiet and had everything we needed.
• william (2/5): - Room was not ready at check in time(4pm). Came back an hour later and was still not ready. Once we finally got in our room, coffee mugs were dirty, coffee stains in mug and lipstick marks. Tried to call front desk but phone did not work. Went down to front desk and hotel manager berated housekeeper in front of guest in lobby. She would also continuously cut my wife off from explaining issues we were dealing with. Just a horrible experience
• Sheryl (4/5): - Was very disappointed in this stay. There is one restraunt that is breakfast and lunch first come first serve if you arrive after 8:00-8:30 you are not able to get in. Which was surprising as we found out it was a buffet. Dinner is reservation only that you could only get a day later. They reverted us to a general store a few miles up the road. When we did eat the food was really good. Wait staff was very friendly. They stated they were short handed and it was last week of season. What we could hear of treatment of their staff it is no wonder they were short handed. The room was clean and view beautiful but not for the price they charge per night there. It was an experience but we will not be staying there again. We did enjoy our time at the lodge a mile up the road that they referred us to. Food and friendly service. It was a burger type restaurant, food was good. Spent most our hotel time there.
• Addie (4/5): - Whatever your standards are, lower them. Then lower them again. And then this hotel will meet your new set of standards. While the historic quality of this hotel is not lost on me, and I appreciate that, the beds are terribly uncomfortable and the lack of food availability on site is unacceptable. Staff at the restaurant reservation desk seems to take the light in saying “sorry we’re full“. They make new prioritization for paying guests of the hotel to dine in their restaurant that is only half full at any given point in time. If the price match the quality of the hotel, it would always be full. But there are those like me willing to pay a little extra for the convenience of being in the park. The views are nice, so that makes up for it. It does not make up for lack of ventilation in any room, The need to keep your window open, even if on the first floor. If you’re looking to relax, this is not the place. It is a place to stay not a place to enjoy.

• MinnesotaRedrose (10/5): Lovely Hotel! - We have stayed at the Yellowstone Hotel twice and absolutely loved our stay both times. The atmosphere is bright, the staff is friendly and the publis space with huge windows overlooking the lake is beautiful. The restaurant in the hotel is also very good. The rooms are clean, bright and beds are comfortable. Staying in the park is expensive, but we think it is worth it. We love this hotel.

• peterhK5604UB (8/5): Lovely place and delicious food - We stayed three nights in a nice cabin at Yellowstone Lake Hotel. The cabin is clean, as is the bathroom, but could use some renovation. In that respect, the cabin pales in comparison to the beautiful hotel. A must-do is the hotel tour: very entertaining and fun. Also highly recommended is dining and having breakfast in the dining room. Compared to the other lodges we visited in Yellowstone; we ate the best and most peacefully here. The main course wasn’t served while we were still eating the starter. The hotel is beautifully situated on Yellowstone Lake and offers a stunning view from both the dining room and the lounge. The cabins are located behind the hotel and do not have this view. The hotel is centrally located and close to the Marina and Fishing Bridge, where you can do activities.

• michaelmB9481WG (10/5): Best Restaurant in Yellowstone with amazing lobby, views and elk - My sisters and I stayed Sat night 9-27-25. Arrived at 3pm and our cabin was ready. We had drinks at the bar in the lobby. The lobby is big with picture windows looking at the lake. The cabin was a.2m drive away from the main lobby. We walked back along the beach at "magic hour". There were Elk all around. We had dinner at 6pm. It was the best experience in Yellowstone (The Old Faithful Inn has a mediorce buffet). This was a sit down experience with A+ service. Then we walked out to the bluff to watch the sunset over the lake. It was great all around.
• Frank (2/5): - Room was filthy and had a sketchy aroma. Furniture was old, undusted, there was grime everywhere in the bathroom, as well as debris and medical pills on the floor. Staff was rude and curt. Options for cheaper food were limited because general store was closed. No TV, no WIFI, no fridge, no microwave, and this was a DELUXE room. I would have been better off camping in the woods, it would have been cleaner with more amenities!

• Jennifer (8/5): - The property is gorgeous. The room was in need of a deep clean. Room mirror was dirty. The shower tub was gross with soap scum and a moldy shower curtain. The bed did not have a fitted sheet or a bed pad. The food was disgusting, McDonalds would be considered a 5 star compared to this. For the price you pay it could and should be better. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable.

• 938deirdred (10/5): Great stay to explore South Loop - Lake Yellowstone Hotel was a great place to stay while exploring the south loop. Beautiful view of Yellowstone Lake and elk bedded in the grassy lot near the parking lot in evening. Room was a bit small but we only slept there. No internet connection or work space so I hope you intend to unplug. Need reservations for dinner in dining room. Had breakfast at the cafe. Bar was crowded.
• loriy883 (4/5): Room left lots to be desired - We paid a lot of money for a one-bedroom suite for 4 of us (that was all that was available when we booked). Bathroom had 2 bath towels, no face towels or wash clothes and less than 1/2 a roll of toilet paper. Room had not been vacuumed (found small papers, hair ties, etc. on the floor). The pull-out couch was basically a bunch of springs with a thin cover. The common areas were very pretty, though, and the staff was pleasant.
• mn0n6a6yfs (4/5): Disappointing stay for over $500/night. - We booked this hotel thinking we wanted to be in the park for close proximity for a couple of nights. The lake view is nice, but that was about it. Our room was extremely dirty, spiders and cobwebs in every corner, poorly made bed, and very dirty windows. Our window had a fiber one cereal box wedged in the corners to prob prevent bugs from flying in. We saw huge horseflies in our window so we did not open the window. There was definitely an issue with the screen and seal. Our shower and sink did not drain at all. We were standing in water to our ankles even with a very fast shower. Dust on all of the nightstands. Clearly not attentive. I couldn’t wait to leave. We also couldn’t get a res for dinner , apparently they had no availability even with open tables. We went to Wylies at lake lodge and it was also disappointing cafeteria food. For night 2, we went outside the park to West Yellowstone for dinner and it was the right call. My husband had the Breakfast Buffet on the first morning only and it was not good. Extremely dry eggs, and nothing was to his liking- and he is not a picky eater. Also, no WiFi is a bummer. We had to go to Lake Lodge to get on spotty WiFi. This hotel should consider installing WiFi as the infrastructure is already there. That would have made the stay a little better. For over $500 a night towards the end of the season, this was extremely disappointing and I would not return or recommend this accommodation.
• linda (6/5): - Very disappointed in our room. For the price, it was super small, no tv and shower similar to a YMCA. I understand the luxury of staying in the park, and for that we loved it. But really NOT worth the price. Will have to reconsider if we return. Our dinner was far below expectation. Hostess was unfriendly when we made reservation. Only time available was 9:30. Lots of empty tables when we arrived at 8:45. Elk ravioli, non descript and dry; disappointing. Way overpriced.
• stephanie (6/5): - Upon checking in, we called for dinner reservations and found out they had no availability. So we ate out of the vending machine. Lake view room was a joke, as we had a deck railing and bannister to look through for a peekaboo view.
• Mark (2/5): - Location on lake great but, I expected the restaurant to be average based on reviews, but sadly it was worse than that. There has no priority booking for guests so we arrived at midday and could not get a table for dinner. The best suggestion staff had for somewhere to eat was a self service canteen a small drive away. This place was awful. Burgers out of tin foil with plastic cutlery. Bear in mind we had booked a deluxe room at the hotel and gone out of our way to stay here as it sells itself as a premier location in the park and it’s not cheap. The cheaper log cabins that surround the main hotel look like a trailer park. There are loads of them, and the hotel cannot cater for the volume of people and there aren’t any other places to eat around. After eating in the awful self service canteen up the road we returned to the hotel for a drink and to enjoy the view. We stopped for one drink and went to bed. Sparkling wine and beer were served Luke warm in cheap glasses that are one step better than plastic and not clean. Sparkling wine served in a normal wine glass. In our room there is no wifi, no TV, and toothpaste spit on bathroom mirrors from many previous guests… this was a deluxe room in main hotel. Some parts of the hotel were clean and quality but the rest is a huge disappointment. It’s being run as a motel pretending to be a hotel. Any complaints bounce off staff who obviously here it all the time and do nothing about it.

• HOME (4/5): A captive in a mediocre hotel for location - Room was ok but food options were ridiculously bad as no table in the restaurant till 9pm so off to the lodge for cold horrid burger and chips , expensive drinks and lack of friendly people
• Kayla (10/5): - Lake Yellowstone is great for focusing on nature and limiting technology. It should be noted there is no WiFi and service is very poor in the room which can make planning excursions or gps navigation difficult. You also have to make a reservation if you want to eat at the hotel restaurant. Overall, the hotel was beautiful and wildlife was outside every day!
• bryans661 (4/5): Avoid Staying and Maybe Xanterra Will Improve It - I won't repeat at length what has been said in the other poor reviews - surly staff, no internet, no AC, few food options, no activities. This place could be amazing but with such poor management by Xanterra Group, the company with the park service contract to operate it, I don't see how it could improve. Xanterra uses it monopoly power of being the only hotel in this corner of the park to deliver a substandard experience not in line with the majesty of the land it is on. Do yourself and future park visitors a favor and stay somewhere else so maybe Xanterra imrpoves the hotel experience.

• Mark (8/5): - Hotels and cabins in Yellowstone are not cheap and this place is no exception. We got a 2 doubles bedroom cabin. Most importantly it had a bathroom with shower and sink unlike other cabins. It was clean and comfy. No TV or any special amenities but then again, the whole point is to be exploring nature. The lobby and common area is amazing with bar service and live music. Dining was amazing for dinner at the hotel. I highly recommend you call at least 1-2 days in advance of arriving to get the ideal dinner time reservation because they book quickly. We ended up eating at 9pm they day of when checking in. Otherwise, staff is amazing and friendly.

• 499rudyd (8/5): Great atmosphere and location - Lake hotel is a great place in Yellowstone. Vetwell situated to discover southeastpart of the park including Hayden valley. Restaurant is good but don,t forget to reserve on time, Room in Sandpiper lodge was a bit dusty but bed and shower are good and it is a dcent size roomwith a table and two chairs.
• barbaragY3331ZG (6/5): Beautiful old hotel but noisy - The Yellowstone Hotel was beautiful and walking in you feel special. We had a lovely stay here and enjoyed the park immensely. But sadly the hotel is so poorly insulated that we heard the people above us throughout the night, as well as cleaning people in the main level. And in this day and age I am shocked that there is such a lack of internet - literally no internet and no cell service.

• Janice (10/5): - I'll admit, I was a little nervous booking this "cabin". I was pleasantly surprised. Clean, comfortable and easy access to the Lake Yellowstone Hotel and nearby lodge. I did have a little problem with no TV or wifi, but really it was probably better to be without it!

• William (8/5): - Room was clean and comfy, and safety was no issue. Plenty of free parking. Value for the dollar was low, as you paid a premium for location to Yellowstone park. The weak point for the property were dining options and staff. The hostess for the hotel restaurant ($$) was snotty and not helpful when asked about dining in the main restaurant, and when asked about menus for dining in the bar replied I don't know, you'll have to go over there (they were serving desserts and appetizers same as in the main restaurant). We ate elsewhere.

• stink182 (2/5): Disgusting - From the front, the hotel is very pretty, but that’s where the positives end unfortunately. Hotel staff weren’t overly friendly on check in. We were assigned a tin hut in the lake village. It was the most disgusting room we’ve ever seen. It clearly had not been cleaned at all. Thick dust lined the furniture, skirting boards, lamps etc. the towels had stains on them. I reported this (room 610) and they did clean the room the next day and replace the towels but unfortunately it was too late to change the negative experience. Other reviews have mentioned the lack of tv, WiFi, a/c but we knew this in advance so I don’t think you can complain about this! I would not recommend staying here. Try anywhere else!

• Michael (4/5): - This property is overpriced. I realize it is inside the park, and that was convenient, but it is ridiculously overpriced for what it offers. The room was just ok at best. Restaurant was impossible to get same day reservation for dinner. Did have breakfast there. Buffet was the only option, which I dislike a lot because I simply cannot eat enough to justify the buffet price, and the options on the buffet were not great. My biggest complaint was the broken and filthy toilet seat. I definitely would not recommend this place or stay there again, in spite of the convenience.

• Jill (8/5): - The Lake Yellowstone Hotel is incredibly convenient as a pick-up location for the fabulous park-run guided tours of Yellowstone and a central place from which to drive around the incredible park. Some hotel staff were stellar and others seemed like they did not want to be there, but we were there toward the end of the what I am sure is ab exhausting season. Our shower curtain was not what I would call clean nor were the baseboards in the bathroom. I did not realize dinner reservations should be made 60 days in advance - so now readers know - make dinner reservations WAY in advance. There are not a lot of food options - but the kitchen also needs to serve an unbelievable number of people. We absolutely would stay here again for the incredible convenience and the staff members who did go out of their way to be nice. Yellowstone National Park is beyond compare for the wildlife and thermal geology! Staying in the park can really make your time there much more enjoyable!! Book the National Park guided tours - they are amazing!!! We took two and they were worth every penny and every minute of our time! We were picked up right at the hotel!

On the negative side, there is not enough compound lighting, it was hard to get to and from the car to the door, complete darkness after sunset. Oh, and gases from an active hot spring nearby can accumulate in the cabin overnight, may produce severe headaches, nausea and cold sweats.

• STEVEN (8/5): - Although this cabin was petite and a tad dated, it had everything we needed for a really nice 3 night stay in the park. It was super clean with very comfortable beds, the heat worked well, the hot water worked great. We loved the location within the park and enjoyed seeing the elk several evenings on the property. Wifi was very sketchy but that was sort of nice to disconnect a bit. We could find it right up the street at the Lake Lodge as well as some other spots within the park. Be sure to walk the entire property especially down by the lake which was beautiful. I would absolutely stay there again and would highly recommend it.

• Lance (8/5): - It was a nice stay. Housekeeping needs some work but they are all kids so I give them that. Dining options are limited so make sure you have a reservation. No internet is a problem only for making any other reservations etc.. kind of nice to disconnect but also kind of necessary at times.
• Andrey (6/5): - Very noisy at night every night - I could hear clearly neighboring rooms activities as well as corridors whenever woke up at night and woke up quite a few times. There was no table at the restaurant neither night we arrived nor the next day dinner. Keep this in mind. Can’t say the room was clean. There was a cardboard contraption loosely housing 3 ! trash cans.
• Barbara (4/5): - We got very little for the high price we paid. The cabin had no tv or microwave, and no wifi. We stayed 2 nights and between nights the garbage was not emptied and the coffee packets were not replenished until we complained. Staff were pleasant but overall feel was of a place that knew there were limited options in the area so did the minimal.
• Carol (2/5): Disappointment - The park was beautiful, but the hotel sucked. Black mold on the bottom grout line in the shower (gross), only one towel per person given (I need two) and they weren't changed, so we had to use damp towels from first day on. The in the room coffee was the worst tasting and it was our 40th wedding anniversary trip. I'll never stay there again and I'm telling all my friends to NEVER stay at the lake lodge!
• Sigrun (4/5): - No hot water, TV, or WiFi. Very expensive for what you get, cabin was not clean. Wonderful breakfast buffet, beautiful lake view and veranda at main facility.
• Elaine (8/5): - The Hotel is beautiful with a porch &rocking chairs. (more chairs are needed) we stayed in cabin 606. It was decorated very nicely, but neither the heater nor the bathroom fan worked. Make dinner reservations when you book. We didn’t and could not eat there. We ended up eating at the more casual Lake Lodge hotel. Their porch and rocking chairs are great.
