- Katharina (10/5): Jamaika am 7-Mile-Beach at its best. - Unser Aufenthalt war fantastisch. Wir waren mit drei Generationen dort und von der 5-jährigen bis zur 60-jährigen waren alle begeistert. Wenn man ein familiäres, persönliches, landestypisch jamaikanisches Hotel möchte, ist man hier goldrichtig. Es gibt in der Nähe durchaus größere und luxuriösere Hotels, die aber lange nicht so einen entspannten jamaikanischen Vibe haben, wie das Firefly Beach. Trotzdem wird das Hotel hochprofessionell geführt. Wir hatten anfangs ein paar Beanstandungen, die am nächsten Morgen sofort und sehr professionell von Dennis vollends gelöst wurden. Man kann sich mit allen Angestellten unterhalten und auf Fragen und Sonderwünsche wird jederzeit nett und freundlich eingegangen. Das Hotel hat echten persönlichen Charakter und wir haben es geliebt. Die Küche im zugehörigen Restaurant ist wirklich richtig gut, das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis, welches in ähnlichen Restaurants viel schlechter ist, ist hervorragend. Die direkte Strandlage mit schattenspendenden Bäumen und die blumenreiche, gepflegte Anlage runden alles perfekt ab. Und last but not least: Wayne ist der beste Geburtstagsliedsänger auf ganz Jamaica. This man made my day. Einige der Mitarbeiter im zugehörigen Restaurant sind nicht freundlich und nicht entgegenkommend, was uns sehr verwundert hat, weil es zu dem ansonsten sehr gut geführten Hotel nicht passt.

Keine laute Musik. Das Personal im zugehörigen Restaurant war langsam, teils unfreundlich und wenig aufmerksam. Es hat sehr lange gedauert bis das Essen oder auch nur eine Tasse Kaffee kam.

- Brenda (2/5): Misleading and extremely disappointing - The beach area was the only thing we liked. The lady at the reception who tried to find us a solution. I never leave bad reviews but this one does not even deserve the 3/10 that I gave. It is misleading and false advertising. This property is nowhere near a 4 star. The photos do not correspond to reality. The rooms are old, dark and cramped. We got to see 2 rooms because the first room was a box in a box where my husband and I couldn’t sleep, we both felt claustrophobic. The receptionist found us a different room for the next 5 nights. In the new room same problems: the shower is extremely tiny and uncomfortable, the WiFi doesn’t work and you can’t watch any tv because everything works through the WiFi. There are electric cables popping out the walls. There are no windows just shutters so you hear everything and everyone. No toiletries provided other than a small bar soap… and the list is long. Also the restaurant staff were not very polite and they tried to rip us off two times.

The staff at the front desk is very helpful and Dennis at the bar is the best. The cleaning was good and the beds nice. There is A/C and a fan in the room which is very good. Firefly offers beach towels to the guests which is nice. There is a good supermaket only a short walk away from the hotel. We had breakfast included which meant that we could choose one dish from the breakfast menue with a glass of juice and a cup of coffee. It says on Booking that Firefly has a private beach but it hasn't. The beach area for the guests is extremely small and a lot of people not even staying at Firefly make reservations for the sunbeds early in the morning. A part of our group stayed in room 16, a room for four persons close to the road. It was extremely noisy! There is no glass in the windows isolating the noise, only insect nets and wooden blinds. At night you felt like the bed was in the middle of the road because of the loud traffic noise. At 3 AM the roosters started yelling and it felt like they were right there in your bedroom. It was awful. None of us got a good night's sleep during our 10 day stay. Addressed the problem at the front desk but they could not offer another room further away from the road. The standard of the room was very outdated. There was no warm water in the tap neither in the kitchen nor in the bathroom. If you wanted warm water you had to turn the shower on. The shower taps (one for hot and one for cold water) were loose and it felt like they were going to come off the wall when you turned them. The water pressure was very low at times but addressing this problem to the front desk resulted in a new shower head and the problem got solved. The kitchen was poorly equipped and there were no electrical outlets for the coffee maker or the toaster in the kitchen area so we had to have them on the floor in the livingroom area to be able to use them. The room was in general very dark and quite poorly decorated, so we stayed there as little as possible. A part of our group stayed in room 4, also close to the road, outdated, dark and noisy. The standard and comfort of the rooms we stayed in was not very good.

I needed emergency cash and they were able to assist. Food and drinks at the restaurant and bar were delicious and excellent value, not to mention the open air and view of the water. Beautiful beach with tree-shaded area for getting out of the sun. Restaurants and a shopping center with a grocery store and pharmacy all within walking distance. Beautiful, well-maintained grounds. Nothing could have been better.

Super friendly and attentive staff. Helped me with all my questions. It was a little noisy on the first evening because there was a party on the beach a few properties away.

The "bad" would be that it's not a fancy resort. If you're expecting something luxurious this isn't your place.

What can I say it's right on the beach and so whichever unit you rent the beach is just steps away. There is a nice garden at the facility and they work hard to maintain it. It was beautiful. The mangrove tree is just at the beach with shade as cool if you didn't want to be in the sun. The restaurant had good food and very reasonable prices. $2.00 USD for Red Stripe during the day very cold and good. Our time there was too short and would definitely recommend it and would come back there if we could. Our room was clean, neat and working. Nothing bad here just a great place to stay. We actually stayed an extra day because it was so nice there. Just the people walking along the beach trying to sell you stuff which is no reflection on the facility or the staff at Firefly.

You wake up to wild roosters cookooing nearby, beautiful landscape, close to the main strip for taxi services, groceries, general store and pharmacy. Quick stroll through beautifully catered gardens to the MAGNIFICENT 7 mile Negril beach. I stayed in two buildings here at Firefly, 2 days in the Apartment suite which was very clean, beautiful and open to the elements, and another 5 days in the Single Cottage. The cottage was absolutely breathtaking and such a surprise, wow. You will spend most of your time out exploring but coming back to Firefly at the end of the day is a beautiful experience. Staff are extremely nice and want to help you with anything you need. Highly, highly recommend Firefly! -Corey

Hospitality by the staff was great. We had a good stay. Service needs improvement and the apartmentstoo, the curtains stick at the front door was broken and the door key keeps stucking most of the times and they didn't fix it for us, position of our room was close to the street and little noisy, bedroom upstairs was little old and I found little bird poop on the beams, ok that is not big thing for me but can be for other peoples. We was told breakfast starts at 07 am but for real u can start order it at 08 am, that's alright not too bad but why not say the real start time. At least all was good enough.

- Herman (10/5): Chill Vacation - I’ve been going to Firefly since the late 1980’s. Honeymooned there in the late 90s. It is perfectly located on the 7 mile beach of Negril. The rooms are quiet and comfortable and you’re never more than a moment away from the beach. The new expanded restaurant and bar is wonderful. If you want a chill vacation, alone, in a couple, with kids, it’s all you need.The staff are all first rate and truly friendly.
- Frank (10/5): - Overall a great place to stay. As we had room 17 at the very top, our view was spectacular. Staff were very friendly and helpful in a timely manner. Kitchen setup was good for making breakfast or a light meal. The only down side with our stay was the seating for the room . The bar stools in the room, and on the balcony are only comfortable for a short sitting time, and the only other option was to lay down on the bed. The balcony could benifit from a couple lounge type chairs. As one of the main things we enjoy on our vacations is to relax and take in the experience, more comfortable seating would have made this place perfect.

The place is quiet and clean. Staff is very friendly and took care of anything I needed. The onsite restaurant is good but there are several other options on the beach as well. I felt very safe during my stay. There is a shopping mall walkable distance with amenities and ATM. I can't wait to return to Negril beach and this place, that sums up how happy I was. In the room lockers did not work , but they provided me a locker in the office which served my need. The WIFI was horribly slow and would frequently break. This is outside the hotel control. It was not a problem for most of the days as I was just enjoying the beach and it was actually good getting disconnected. But last two days I had to book flights and other hotels and it was a nightmare to complete any online transaction. Certainly not a place to WORK remotely. I did complain to the office and they were looking into changing service provider.

- Denise (8/5): We recommend staying here and will be back next year :) - We stayed in the 2-bedroom apartment closer to the road which we enjoyed staying in. If you are a light sleeper than the noise may bother you but I sleep way better with noise. The beds were very comfortable and the space was perfect for the 3 of us. The ladies at the reception are amazing and very welcoming. The housekeepers are amazing and we loved the new bedding they put on the beds after a few days of our stay. The service at the bar/restaurant can be a bit slow at times however the food was really good. They have happy hour every day from 12 to 2 and it gets pretty busy and hopping :) They set up televisions in the bar for Super Bowl which was a bonus. Dennis and Marco are gems. The grounds are filled with beautiful plants and flowers. I know there are plenty of loungers but it would be nice to have some already laid out for the day. A couple of the servers seemed annoyed and would serve the regulars even if you were there before them. I understand that they have a relationship with the returning guests; however, we all paid to enjoy the same service.

I have never encountered a friendlier or kinder bunch of people in all of my 5+ visits to Jamaica. The bar and restaurant are fantastic md everything is reasonably priced. Location cannot be beat! Internet is slow but a solution is in the works. You don’t need internet anyways— you’re in Jamaica, go outside.

The first attributed to a broken pipe. The second time was on the morning of checkout when we woke to shower and get ready to leave. To our surprise and great concern, there was no water available. Good thing we had some bottled water and did our best with those. Would not stay here again because water shut off seems random. The second issue was asking for a few items of clothing to be washed and being charged 30USD. Disappointingly, the shirts were not ironed, tee shirts not folded. Essentially clithes wete returned wrinkled.

- Paul (10/5): An absolute gem of a place. - Located right in the middle of one of the best beaches in the world. The room was excellent including air conditioning, a covered porch with table and chairs. There was an oven and a fridge freezer with a supermarket in walking distance. A toaster, a kettle and a flat screen TV and free wifi. The beach area is swept every day and the gardens are kept immaculate. The staff are fantastic and can't do enough to make your stay a good one. The food at the restaurant is really nice, even more so if you like seafood. The bar has a happy hour every day at Midday with Red Stripe on offer at $2 US a bottle I really look forward to staying at Firefly again. Thank you everyone at the Firefly for making us feel right at home.
