Guest Reviews
- Navkiran (8/5): - The hotel itself is conveniently located by the water taxis. So if you want to island hop, or are staying somewhere else - its super easy to get to/from. Close to local buses, the airport (within 7 min walking distance). Lots of restaurants and cafes nearby. The check in process was smooth- we got early check in. Hotel provides breakfast at a nearby restaurant which was fantastic. The hotel was clean. Its a little loud at night. The bed isn't the most comfortable, but for one night it was great.
- Ritesh (8/5): - Overall it was good. The only downside was the hotel never got the reservation from hotels.com, but they were honorable enough to give us the rooms at the same rate. Even did an upgrade to one room because it was full.
- Jeanette (8/5): - We had an ocean view room on the 2nd floor. The room was amazing, great air conditioning with lots of room. The staff was wonderful, the food was delicious, Samuel, our bartender at the Tiki Bar was an absolute joy! For only $5 we were able to have our laundry done for us, and the private boat was able to pick us up right at our own dock at the hotel. BUT, the Aqua Lounge across the water was a nightmare. Almost every single night they blared music so loud that even a football field away you couldn't sleep. All the way to 4am one night. Earplugs will NOT work. Bring them and noise cancelling headphones for any hope of getting good rest. I wish I didn't have to include this but it's only fair. Residents and local businesses are trying to do something about it, but apparently the owners of Aqua Lounge will not cooperate. It's a shame really. Even school children have a hard time because they can't sleep at night. Yes, I would stay there again because we loved it, but not without headphones and ear plugs.
- Heidi (8/5): - Convenient for restaurants, water taxi’s.
- Femi (10/5): - Clean and does the job. Great central location.
- Bob (8/5): - The location is great. Friendly front desk. No elevator, so our 3rd floor water-view room kept us in shape. The main road is pot-holed, (big puddles in the rain,) and terrible, and is under repair. Not the hotel's fault. The view from the balconies is spectacular. We spent hours just sitting there, watching the boats go back and forth below. The Tiki Bar also offers that view at water level. Good Tiki Happy Hour drinks. The bar across the harbor (currently "Aqua,") was noisy until late, with loud music traveling far. (Not the hotel's fault.) Nice, comfortable bed. Minor points: the shower drained slowly, and we were worried it would flood the bathroom, but it didn't. Stingy amounts of complimentary shampoo/conditioner. We had to ask for more. Reeeely thick, firm, pillows the size of haystacks were a bit hard to get used to. Could trim them by half, and they'd still be fine. Overall, 4.5 stars. We'd happily stay there again.
- Donna (10/5): Liked it. Would stay again. - Really nice waterfront hotel great AC firm comfortable bed. Super accommodating staff, lots to the free breakfast and good coffee. Beachy decor a plus was the pair of parrots roosting under the eaves outside our balcony.
- Irena (8/5): - The property is very centrally located close to everything. The rooms are small but we had a balcony which helped. The hotel is bright and clean. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good. The only drawback was we were on the top floor and there is no elevator so a lot of stairs to climb.
- Brian (8/5): - Great view and central.
Excellent breakfast. Everything was great. Sammy at the bar down below was excellent. Might be back some day.
- Nadine (10/5): - Ocean view room was awesome. Just book it!
Comfortable beds, very soft sheets, clean room. Nice staff.
- Andrea (10/5): - Great free breakfast, clean, good air conditioning, loved the over the water bar with a view and happy hour
- Sandra (8/5): - I would stay there again if in that area. Wiuld also recommend to friends. Good value for mpneu
- Orlando (8/5): Very Nice. - Great and friendly staff and water front view was amazing.
- David (10/5): Island life - outstanding - Our experience here was excellent. Professional and very pleasant and helpful staff. Would return here in a heartbeat.
- Cynthia (10/5): - The room was very comfortable and clean. The bartender/server was superior. He went way above and beyond. All the staff were very nice.
- Gladys (8/5): - The balcony really makes this hotel for us. It is large with a great view over the water, perfect for happy hour. It can get hot but the air conditioning works well. Shower is nice and bathroom large enough. Hotel is close to everything in town and lots of restaurants. Breakfast area is nice and breakfast was good. I recommend for a stay in Bocas town.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Beautiful - Beautiful boutique hotel right on the ocean with views of the different islands surrounding. Very peaceful and clean. Extremely central and overall beautiful location. Great simple breakfast and coffee in the morning and very kind staff! I would recommend this place to anyone.
- Bev (4/5): A disappointment - Beautiful looking hotel spoilt by the constant rave music next to it on a party boat that went on til 4am every night.
Room was clean, breakfast decent, wifi was not working.
All in all, disappointing.
- Jason (10/5): Perfect for your stay in Bocas - Excellent Hotel, in the perfect location. Staff were very helpful and friendly.
- Aldo (8/5): - The hotel was in a great location. Friendly staff and very helpful
- Ascanio (8/5): - I like the view. The restaurant and bar is over a dock, wich is pretty awesome.
- Will (10/5): - The staff could not be any more friendly. They are the best! The hotel is typical of an island hotel. This is not a Hilton or a Hyatt, but it is very comfortable, clean and affordable. We will definitely come back here in the future.
- John (8/5): All good as described - Beautiful place (once you get used to the rose color) and location. Friendly staff. Good internet. Small room without seating other than the bed, but that was my fault as I just didn't want to pay for the bigger room they offer.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We really enjoyed our stay here, wish we could’ve stayed longer.
The staff is nice and helpful, had a (beautiful) ocean view room and it was perfection and comparing prices with other hotels on the same street we found it very reasonable. Breakfast options are nice too.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Overall this is a pleasant and clean hotel, but quite basic in terms of amenities and with a bit worn out interior design. The value you get for your money was not that good, compared to other places I stayed at.
- lynn (8/5): Book a water side room. - Upgraded to a water side room. Loved it. And is was quieter than we expected.
- Judit (8/5): Bocas town's most central hotel with lovely staff - This place has the potential to be fantastic. Centrally located, staff is really helpful and they speak English. My room was ready 3 hrs before check-in. The room itself is spaceous and the balcony is pretty big too(I had the city view room, the sunset was beautiful from there #101). The design makes you feel at home. Downside: an entire hotel is being built from the ground up right next to it. So if its not raining, be prepared to hear hammering and chainsaw from 8am. One morning there was no water, but turned out there's a major drought in the Bocas del toro region so no other hotels or any locals had running water either. The hotel manager sorted this out within a few hours, she was great. Maybe bear this in mind if you visit in the dry season. The breakfast was tasty, but it would be lovely to have more choice free of charge.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Place was cute, clean, good breakfast. Staff was very nice but seemed inexperienced. They could not answer our questions and did not attempt to find out answers. Also we were there during Carnival and it was VERY loud on street side, but we managed to sleep with earplugs. Did not know the hotel was so close to bandstand for Carnival when booking.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great spot but for now there is construction of new building next door. Not a big problem if you are gone all day as you should be!
- daniel (10/5): good hotel - the hotel is very clean and the reception staff is helpfull .
the girl how serve the breakfest is not nice.
- R (8/5): Four Nights in Bocas Town - We had booked a middle room and were upgraded for free to a city view room, which was nice. However, the a/c didn't work properly and once the bars close there are noisy people in the street until well after 2:00 am. Also, during the day they are constructing a building right next door. They start work at about 7:30 am. After 2 nights we moved to an ocean view room that was on the opposite side of the hotel from the construction zone. It was more expensive, but worth it. Overall a good place to stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice Hotel clean and nice staff - It was a good experience, the people very friendly.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Functional - Stayed one night at this hotel before an early flight out of Bocas - we'd been spoilt by other locations, but we were glad we'd not booked longer here. We got woken up on several occasions through the night by other hotel guests, the air con didn't work in the room and the outdoor 'pool' is really just a gap in the jetty (though you can see some good starfish). It's a shame the back deck area is right next to one of the main water taxi points - the result is you get covered in fumes from the boats, else it would be a nice place to sit. All in all, the hotel is well located if you're using it as a base to get out on lots of excursions but it you want a place to enjoy calm sea views, this isn't it.
- Annie (8/5): Discivering Panama - A stop in our discovery trip of Panama, we stayed 3 days. It feels like a trip back in time, when California was a great place in the 60's and 70's. People in general are very nice, helpful.
- Leroy (8/5): Lee's Pre- birthday celebration - Staff was very accommodating and pleasant.
Breakfast was different and fresh every day.
The view was gorgeous.
Flooring and stairs need better maintenance.
- Agustin (10/5): I would stay again! - Friendly staff, good location!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Close to the Sea - the staff is not so friendly but the seafood is great!
- Audrey (8/5): - Couldn't enjoy the breakfast/deck because of the noise and cheap gas smells from water taxi business literally next door. Lovely staff! Internet was poor and sporadic.
- Indy couple (6/5): Close to restaurants - The room was tiny, the shower had mold in it, there were no wash cloths, the food was ok.
- Tyffany (6/5): Overpriced 2 star. Great staff. Bad breakfast. - Bocas Town is a small "hotel" that is located just off the main Street, next to the police station. It's great for the night/bar scene, & walkable to everything. Bocas Town appears to be a party town, so it gets quite lively and noisy at night, if you're particular about that. The rooms are quite small. I upgraded to a room with a balcony as the standard room had a very small window. The "swimming pool" was not even swimmable. Not clean. Not inviting. Basically a caged area in the ocean. Rooms are overpriced, although quaint themselves. Common areas look dated & unclean. Front desk staff is great. Breakfast is below basic. 3 pieces of toast, an egg and some fruit. Go elsewhere for breakfast. I wouldn't return.
- Sara (10/5): Charming Hotel With a View - Hotel Bocas Town was a fantastic place! We were so impressed with how lovely our room and the ocean view was. We would definitely stay here again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Very pleased but... - The hotel was nice. Right on the water. The only criticism I have is that the bedspread had holes in it and it was not clean. It smelt like dust and cigarette smoke. The staff was super nice. Overall, I enjoyed my stay.
- BBB (8/5): Great location - Nice hotel well run friendly staff speak English and Spanish, location perfect pool area good but the swimming area being natural is contaminated by the tour boats next door and after a storm clogged with weed so not advisable to swim.Would recommend if having a swimm is not important, you can go to many beaches on s tour trip.
- Verified traveler (8/5): good deal - I only stayed for one night but really liked the place. Owned and run by some
gringos, the place is run differently/better than most. Nicely kept up and very
helpful staff.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Quick stay in Bocas del Toro - I went to Bocas del Toro on business and needed a place to stay for one night, Hotel Bocas Town room was very clean and comforting but at night it was a bit noisy from the streets and you could here people walking in the hallway all night. Besides that I liked my stay.
- Jeffrey (10/5): Cool place to relax and so close to everything - We happened upon this resort by looking on Hotel.com. It we a great place to stay, the staff super friendly, room was a nice size with really comfortable bedding and pillows. "Real" hot water not water from the suicide shower head. This hotel is close to everything happening downtown area.
- Christine (8/5): Nice Hotel - This is a perfect hotel if you want to stay in the middle of the action. On the water next to the taxi boats, near the bars, and shops. The staff was friendly, helpful and the rooms were clean and air-conditioned. We will go back.
- Vianka (10/5): Nice hotel in Bocas Town. - We received an excellent service from front desk personnel Mia. The room was clean and nice. We found everything they promise in the room. The location was excellent to get tours boats and walk around. The free breakfast was very good. I can not eat it all because was too much food for me. The only issue is there is not elevators but there are only three levels. If you are not so young request the first floor. I loved the colorful building and rooms. I wil go again.
