Guest Reviews
- Rebecca (5/5): - Location
Clean
Outdoor tropical vibe
Staff Hot water in shower not hot enough
Cluttered room
Only 1 pool was heated
- Guest (4/5): -
- Bruce (6/5): We enjoyed our stay and it is more suitable for younger fitter people. - Location was good except the apartment studio was on the top floor, which meant as I had a walking stick a little difficult to get to the room. The room was quiet and comfortable. having a shower over the bath was dangerous and finding the room when arriving and getting bags up all the stairs as there was not a lift.
- Sandra (9/5): - Lovely apartment, excellent location. The pool was great.
- Sean McErlean (10/5): -
- Mariella (6/5): Location is fantastic as it is in front of beach and walking distance to cafes and restaurants - Chiara was very helpful with keys at arrival and providing options for scuba diving The property looks abandoned from the front. Dead Tree leaves and branches on the patio and old signs for car rental. The place looked so unkept that the airport shuttle driver has hesitant to drop me off there.
- Cooper (10/5): - Great hotel in a fabulous location
Staff were super friendly and very helpful. Rooms were spacious and had everything you needed. Great pools and BBQ facilities N/A
- Mark (8/5): -
- Sharna (6/5): - No wifi as promised
- Camille (8/5): Loved our stay. Beautiful pool. - Great location. Lovely and quiet. Furniture in the property (living area) were very uncomfortable and made it difficult to spend a long period of time inside when raining.
Would love to see furniture upgraded.
- Erin (10/5): - Excellent location and beautiful place to stay at! Facilities in the apartment were great and clean. Pool and parking was easily accessible. Air conditioning was fantastic. Shower water pressure was below average
- Rebecca (8/5): Great stay for rest and relaxation. - The room was great for my short stay in Port Douglas. The bathroom was dated. Unit 48B was overcrowded with furniture.
- Anna-maria (8/5): -
- Steve (1/5): Not nice - Pool was nice
Location to beach ok 48b
If you like stairs this is the apartment for you
Freezer was fully iced up clearly hasn’t been defrosted in a long time and had to wait for someone to defrost it but couldn’t complete it we had to use the fridge in the next apartment ended up cleaning the fridge myself freezer is still not efficient
Internet kept dropping out very poor signal
Shower screen is not attached to the bath as it should be not good for elderly and is dangerous hazard
Fan in bathroom doesn’t work so no ventilation HealthPlus hazard
Hair left in bathtub and bathtub is stained
Fan in toilet doesn’t work no ventilation
Kettle has rust in bottom of it and the apartment next door the kettle was worse this is a health hazard
Kitchen/Unit utensils/items are well used and could be updated eg :- (chopping board stained) health risk
Wine/champagne glasses are filthy
Apartment cluttered with to much furniture for two people
Clothes horse rusted and broken (disgusting)
- Phoebe (4/5): We stayed in Room 48B for four nights. Unfortunately, there were several issues that impacted our overall experience. It - • Reception staff were helpful in assisting us to locate the room, even though we were not booked directly through them.
• The room was well equipped for cooking, with a good amount of cutlery, cookware, and a stovetop provided.
• The pool was well maintained and very pleasant to swim in.
• The air conditioning worked extremely well and kept the room cool and comfortable.
• The location is excellent, with close proximity to the main strip in Port Douglas and within easy walking distance. • The Wi-Fi was very poor and unreliable throughout our stay.
• We were unable to connect to the Chromecast in the room at all.
• Only two toilet rolls were provided for two people staying four nights.
• Laundry was quite expensive at $5 per wash and $5 per dryer.
• We arrived early and were required to go to another property down the street to leave our bags while waiting for the room to be ready, which was inconvenient.
• When contacting off-site management regarding issues, they were very rude, short-tempered, and unhelpful over the phone.
• The view from the room was of another building, which was not appealing.
• The freezer was not working, causing food to go warm and frozen items to melt.
• The bed consisted of two single mattresses pushed together, which continually separated throughout the night and was uncomfortable.
• The bathroom door was a louvre door, offering no privacy and no soundproofing.
• The shower was over a bathtub with no proper rail to get in and out safely — only a towel rail, which is not suitable or safe.
• The shower screen was coming loose from the bathtub, which felt unsafe.
- Maria (10/5): Fantastic location and value - Conveniently located close to everything
Walking distance to restaurants and attractions but secluded enough to be a peaceful oasis 0
- Yumiko (8/5): - The location was great.
- Andrew (10/5): -
- Joanna (9/5): - Great location, good amenities, especially the little kitchenette
- Marco (7/5): - Locatie Bedden, leuke voorzieningen, staat van het appartement, schuifdeuren buiten vielen uit elkaar, balkondeuren konden slechts gedeeltelijk open.
- Tracey (7/5): We had a great time but wouldn’t stay in the same room again - Location to everything makes getting around really easy The bats - we were right next to them and they were noisy; and the stairs going up to the top level.
- Dan (8/5): -
- Tracey (8/5): Affordable, comfortable and clean. - Central to shops, restaurants. Close to the beach. 2 lovely pools. Definitely stay again.
- Andrea (10/5): Loved it but should be managed by one entity - Loved the location so close to everything and pool area was lovely.
Place was quite not many kids ! When we had a major water leak in room reported to reception advised it wasn’t their problem as they didn’t manage that room.
- Colleen (7/5): The location was excellent and easy to get to everything. The lounge was lovely with a great view - We made our own breakfast as there was none available in the apartment The place could have been a little more clean as my husband discussed with you. Especially the floor as walking bare feet our feet were black instantly
- Jess (9/5): -
- Emma (8/5): - Great property - with nice views over the pool.
A couple of minor things - 3 flights of stairs up which wasn’t overly clear on the description and meant we left pram downstairs near the pool overnight, had to arrange a cot through a different company and pay $100, and the backpackers is not far and a bit noisy on weekends. The spa is also not heated.
Parking was great! And the pool area is fab - lots of room and under cover and sunny spots. Great location to walk to all the main areas in town.
Thanks for a nice stay
- Samantha (10/5): Perfect! We will definitely be booking this accommodation again. - Perfectly located with an easy stroll to the shops and restaurants etc
- Peter (8/5): - Location
- Nadine (9/5): We would definitely stay here again - The apartment and facilities were perfect for our family and we enjoyed swimming in the heated pool. The timber louvres really blocked out the light well so we didn't wake up too early. The beds were comfortable and all the facilities worked well. Everything was within walking distance for us which was fantastic. We even brought our e-scooters along and were able to charge them near the pool area. There could be a little less furniture in the rooms or at least less bulky furniture as it felt a little crowded. Also, the surrounding streets were surprisingly noisy at times, although this is just an observation and not a complaint.
- Kevin (8/5): -
- Kerryn (7/5): Walking distance to everything - Great position A bit old and tired.
Pool being renovated so lots of noise
- sally (3/5): Not happy at all. - The bathroom was mouldy, there was black mould on the ceiling, it needed a paint, the towel rails falling off the wall. There were LARGE cockroaches in the cupboards. We were allotted a back facing apartment which was noisy as there was building work in progress. Overall I was disappointed.
- Kyle (8/5): - Great location, roomy accommodation and top facilities.
- Kathryn (4/5): Would not recommend - Gardens Building site around pool
Stained sofa
Dust and sticky arms on chairs
Uncomfortable chairs
- Richard (9/5): Great location laundry facilities could do with a change machine - Excellent location
- Loren (8/5): It was everything I needed, affordable and in a good location, just a bit dated. - The location was good and the pool on site. Bathroom and a few things are a bit dated, no good view.
- Deborah (8/5): Good location, lovely resort. - Nice vibe and great location, easy check in Some of the furniture was tired - easy chairs in particular, mattress old.
- Ken (9/5): Superb -
- Michael (8/5): Comfortable, convenient and relaxing. - Location and the pools. I left my phone at the hotel and the gentleman at Seascape went above and beyond to facilitate the speedy return. An exceptional level of service The room was a little tired, but you get what you pay for
- Natalie (6/5): Pleasant -
- David (8/5): Very good -
- Terence (7/5): Good - Stayed there before. Location is fine when the weather is good as close to beach. Only 1 pool was in operation. Wifi in this particular room was shocking. Internet was fine as you got closer to office. I ended up using the wifi on my phone as I had work to do.
- Alan (10/5): Recommend - The apartment was spacious and comfortable. The location is amazing. I liked everything.
- Elise (10/5): Exceptional - Great accommodation and location. Stairs up to the apartment were a little challenging for a few guests but overall we had a fantastic stay.
- Craig (8/5): Very good -
- Wendy (8/5): Very relaxing. - The location and how clean our room was. Having the shower in the bath.
- Jason (10/5): Exceptional -
- Julie (10/5): I love Port Douglas and staying at Hibiscus Resort, it’s my happy place - Wonderful ambience, great location, 2 lovely pools and friendly staff Nil
- Con (7/5): Stay was relaxing due to proximity of shops, restaurants & beach. - Good location As a family if you stay longer then 3 days, new towels should be provided. No matter who you book via.
- Laine (8/5): - Wifi only barely worked on couch in suite we were given
- David (9/5): Very good - Location and amenities Found it difficult to find my room. Felt unwelcome by reception staff because I booked a private owned apartment and asked for help.
- Sahiba (3/5): good location but crap property for the price point - the location of the property there were ants in the room
they said they will charge $30 dollars extra for clean towels
the pool water was not clean
The staff wasn't helpful
- Simon (6/5): Nice place for a short visit. - Nice ambience and good location Limited kitchen facilities with no real workspace to cook
- Darryl (10/5): Exceptional -
- Emily (10/5): Our stay was nothing short of fantastic, excellent location and great amenities. - The location was excellent, less than a five minute walk to the main strip, the harbor and the beach!
- Bernadette (7/5): Last visited HG 20 years ago, much of the decor looks unchanged; it’s tired and in need of an update - We liked having a choice of pools, and liked the facility’s proximity to supermarket, shops, eating venues and wharf The air con was ineffective, furniture and decor is tired and dated, mould on shower silicone was off-putting
- Wilson (8/5): Lovely stay, great location close walk to town, & beach - Great location, beautiful pools Our bed was hard for our liking
- Roland (7/5): Enjoyable - Comfortable nice pools We were on the 2nd floor no lift stairs very dark at nights, no lighting
- Georgina (8/5): It was excellent value for money, comfortable and great location - clean, comfortable the quality of the cooking pan and some of the utensils
- Roland (8/5): A great holiday all round - Excellent location Air conditioning didn’t work
- Sarah (8/5): Relaxation in paradise - Location and the pool Probably need towels to be replaced after 3 days. The heat and outdoor activities gets them dirty quickly.
- Patrick (9/5): Lovely stay - Lovely apartments very well located in Port Douglas. Ample car parking and lovely views from the room. Pool area space limited if you want to sunbathe. Apartments were not managed by the resort - not an issue but worth noting
- Aoife (3/5): Lovely are & Lovely location but apartment dated & in need of renovation - The property itself was very nice & well located. The apartment however was grubby & needed to be renovated & to have a deep clean. Furniture was stained and smelled of mould. The apartment was dated and needed to be redone with new furniture & kitchen. It also needed a deep clean.
- Sue (9/5): A lovely relaxed break - Relaxed and friendly. Liked the Balinese styling. Great pools. Bifold doors very hard to open
- Tamara (10/5): Exceptional -
- Oliver (9/5): Superb -
- Natalie (5/5): Good location, good pool area. The unit needs updating and restocking of workable crochery. - The location was good. The pool and pool area lovely. The crochery was mismatched, 2 glasses were cracked, no toilet paper, the bedroom door locked without us knowing and we had no key - we were told to use a knife to open the door! No balcony. Could use updating.
- Mark (8/5): Location was great, clean and beds etc were good -
- Vladimir (5/5): Booking info must include that there are 3 flights of stairs to get to the apartment. - Great location. The biggest issue that impacted the entire trip was the 3 flights of stairs. An apartment like that absolutely must mention in the booking that there are stairs. I would absolutely not have made the booking.
- Rachel (8/5): Very good -
- Cheryl (9/5): Superb -
- takashi (10/5): - Conveniently located close to the sea and dining street, this property has the atmosphere of an Asian resort.
- Haigh (10/5): Comfortable! - The pools, central location, peacefulness and aesthetics of the outside areas. Nothing
- Lenelle (9/5): Superb - Location and facilities- great pool areas! Not having dishwasher and washing machine/dryer in room.
- Phoebe (8/5): Very good -
- Tim (9/5): Lovely place would stay again if back in area -
- Bulgheroni (7/5): Good -
- Mandy (9/5): Superb - The lush colourful gardens and the Balinese touches everywhere , fantastic pool.. Great location. The room was fantastic. The decor could do with a little updating but I was very impressed , great value for money and will definitely stay again and will be recommending to family and friends.. The fridge leaked which was slightly annoying and the bath needs re- grouting.
- Lindsey (6/5): Okay. Tired apartment in good location with good pool facilities. - Pool area, garden and facilities. Bed was comfy.
Air conditioner and fan worked. Room/bathroom fittings were falling off and the room smelt of damp.
Bathroom was mouldy and dated.
Indoor chairs need a clean.
Nowhere’s to sit and have dinner inside.
Have stayed in much nicer rooms in Port Douglas for same price.
- Lauchlan (9/5): Hibiscus holiday.
I'm - Great location, lovely complex. Great pool/s areas. Great ambience. Comfortable beds. Friendly helpful staff.
- Mark (8/5): Very good -
- Geoff (10/5): - Great accommodation and helpful staff
- Tiina (6/5): Nice resort, poor value room. - Location is excellent, close to everything. The resort is quite nice, not new but pretty well maintained, nice gardens and pools. The bed and pillows in our room were very comfortable The actual room was very disappointing. The pictures on line don't really reflect reality - they've moved furniture around to take photos from different angles helping to give the impression of a more furnished place than it really is. It's much smaller than the pictures suggest and not really the sort of room you would want to relax in beyond sleeping. The decor is old and worn, guessing 90s since anything was renovated - kitchenette and bathroom are very dated. The 2 armchairs are lumpy from use and dirty, the walls have dings in them, the bathroom has old mould discolouring the grout, no hooks for any towels and no drawers or shelves for toiletries. The one towel rail (half hanging out of the wall) is at the end of the bath and can't be used if you shower without getting the towels wet. They also then hang against the bath and so don't dry. The shelf in the fridge for bottles is broken and no one has cleaned dirty hand prints off the back of the door for a long time. We found quite a few dirty dishes and dirty cutlery in the cupboards and drawers from previous guests that clearly hadn't been checked. The view from the back window is into someone's backyard and onto Davidson St and you really need to pull the blind for any kind of privacy leaving you with a dark room. There is a strange empty space in the room which clearly should have a dining table in it but doesn't. I'm sorry we didn't spend more and get something better and better value. Room 47A is poor value for money. My overall rating for accomodation is 6/10 dragged up because the resort is nice and we'd stay there again if they have better rooms. The actual room itself doesn't really deserve more than about 4/10 for the price. We've been to PD many times and this is the worst value we've ever had.
- John (7/5): Overall I was happy with my stay but felt there was some simple things overlooked - The resort is beautiful, the style, the gardens and pool area and how its perfect location being so close to everything in the Main Street as well as four mile beach. There was no salt/pepper, dishwashing liquid, bin liners, appropriate sized frying pan. There was a glass with lipstick on it on arrival. The cushions on the chairs and lounge were obviously aged and a bit dirty and needed to be cleaned/refreshed/replaced.
- Jonathan (10/5): Accommodation was brilliant - I did not read instructions provided but fortunately got help on site. nothing could have been better.
- Lily (8/5): Fantastic location and a fair apartment. - Absolutely fantastic location and the pool was great. Slightly delayed checkin because of a mixup with the cleaners. Also would’ve been good to have a dining table indoors - as the rain meant we couldn’t use the small table on the balcony.
- Alexander (1/5): Very disappointing on our first visit to beautiful Port Douglas. We cannot recommend room 47A. - . Not much The apartment was left unlocked for our arrival as we were past 5pm which is close up shop time. That was not a problem. The bed was comfortable and king size. From here the apartment was a massive disappointment and not what we were led to believe. Mostly every. Please take the time to read this review. We knew that we had booked a studio apartment with a garden view. The garden view was the backyard of a dodgy rental that had at least 10 large bins and 2 dilapidated and discarded fridges. This was our garden view. Massive lie. There was no inside table or chairs for sitting to have breakfast or any meal but there was plenty of room for it so at this stage we brought the outside setting in as there was no pleasure to sit on the balcony. The fridge was tiny and the freezer was completely frozen over and only 1 ice cube tray could fit in. The wardrobe space was insufficient for 1 person let alone 2 as we had to share with with the broom, the ironing board and a fold up beach chair. This is not hygienic
Bathroom had no storage so we brought in the obscure little coffee table to use as storage. There was no handle to assist in climbing into the bath so the towel rack had to be used which was coming off the wall. The bath had yellow stains around the edge. It needed a very good clean as did the scum around the taps and sink hole. There was nowhere to hang the hand towel. The door was a louvre door that did not allow for any privacy. Light could be seen during a night toilet visit and there was no sound barrier. It was most unpleasant. Just to add to it, the hot water tap came off every time you used, dangerous and the flusher on the toilet did not work. At this stage in desperation we rang the emergency number and spoke to Tom our host who promised to send a plumber and look for better accomodation for us.
We had to endure 3 nights of this.
Tom was true to his word though and the both problems were fixed in the bathroom the next morning. It took 3 days to a get a relocation. We were offered a refund which was of no help us as there was very little around to get and we did not want to waste a day of our time on our first visit to Port Douglas looking for accomodation . The place was tired and dull.
- Kay (8/5): Love Port Douglas. - The Location is great. Stayed here before but not through Seascape so we paid more and the rooms we had were fabulous. This apartment bit small but fine for 3 of us and happy to recommend. Bathrooms could have been a bit cleaner.
- Julie (6/5): Hibiscus Stay - Room was comfortable and clean but in need of some update.towel rail needed fixing to walk properly, definitely not 4 star. As above
- Rosalie (5/5): Was a great location so close town. - Great location Bed was so hard and couch had seen better days
- Sophie (5/5): Love the pool and the complex, studio room expensive and uncomfortable for longer stays - We found the wider resort and facilities itself great. Wonderful pool options with a great bbq area. The laundry at the resort was handy with washing machines and driers available. The resort is well located close to central town and the beach. The studio room was very basic. We found the unit a little dated and tired looking. Bed was very firm and uncomfortable, pillows not much better. It would have been nice to have a breakfast table inside and somewhere comfortable to sit. View over the nextdoor neighbours backyard somewhat strange. For longer stays like ourselves it would have been good to have additional towels available as well as some cleaning products available for toilet. When the room was serviced halfway through our 14 night stay the toilet and sink in bathroom wasn't cleaned. Kitchen amenities were very basic, not really set up for people who want to do self-catering ie no bowls to make a salad in - we had to use a pot to make a salad. Basics like salt and pepper would have been good to have and more than 1/3 of a roll of toilet paper.
- Jessica (8/5): We enjoyed our stay here. Great location. - Great location. Walking distance to marina, beach and restaurants. Pools fantastic in resort. Great place to stay for a family. General wear and tear to property noticeable. If
Mould on wardrobe doors, fixtures falling out of wall. Papers found under bed.
- Catherine (6/5): Had a great stay as was able to walk to the main street and close to 4 mile beach. - the location is great and the pools are a great size and kept clean however the property is quite dated now and needs an uplift.
The unit was very clean but would be great to have storage in the bathroom Decking around the pool area is quite worn. stair case leading to the upper floors of Accommodation are not that steady.
- Sandra (7/5): Great location. Certainly central to main shop and dining facilities. Close tOlder tired apartment. - Easy instructions to meet rental agent at office site and complete paperwork. Keys were in the room Limited cooking options or dining area without fear of setting off smoke alarm.
- Kerrie (8/5): Had a wonderful stay, the weather was amazing. - The pool area was lovely. The proximity to the shops and beach was excellent.
- Jill (10/5): Exceptional - Fantastic pools and beautiful Balinese type feel. Excellent location. Short walk to everywhere. Room had everything you need. Well equipped kitchen and comfy furniture. Really loved our time here. Would come back tomorrow. 10 out of 10 Nothing not to like
- Lynne (10/5): relaxing, beautiful and very worth being there. - location was superb, pool was magic, setting was beautiful. Fiona in reception was sensational booking tours for us. nothing
- Elaine (8/5): Shout out to the lovely Fiona at reception, she was very helpful with planning trips and very pleasant - great location, lovely pool area not enough toiletries provided
- Jen (10/5): Exceptional -
