Guest Reviews
- Nancy (8/5): Migliorabile! - La tranquillità e la pulizia Le scale e i continui scalini, la camera piccola, i prezzii assolutamente eccessivi
- Suzie (8/5): Overall we enjoyed our holiday, food was lovely, staff ok. The missing WiFi really spoilt it for us. I am now without mo - Lovely old character property. In a beautiful village with plenty of parking. Room was nice but needed armchairs as sitting on bed was uncomfortable. The main issue was the guest WiFi didn’t work at all for our 4 night stay and as a result I used all my mobile data, which I’ve never done. This left me without being able to stay in contact with clients and family members. We did ask several times but kept being told “oh it’s playing up today” but it clearly hasn’t been working for a while. Travelling home without mobile data was stressful.
- Sav (9/5): -
- DAVID (9/5): - Eveything
- Cath Lindon (8/5): - Great location, very atmospheric. Excellent bar service, nice food. We paid much more for our rooms than other guests, having booked through booking.com, so it felt poor value for money.
- Greig (7/5): - Location and food.
- Elizabeth (10/5): Excellent location. Very peacefull. Staff always helpful . - Homely Quaint, relaxing…. Great views lots of wildlife.
- Diana (10/5): Cosy, quiet and comfortable with excellent food and very friendly and helpful staff - A delightful place, full of character and beautifully situated near to the coastal path. Nothing
- Nicola (10/5): -
- Catherine (10/5): Great place to stay - Location, historic building relaxing
- Christine (10/5): The breakfast was amazing. - The rooms are lovely. The location is perfect too. N/A
- Magdalena (10/5): Perfect - We’ve been before for food but decided to stay here on our most recent trip to Norfolk. Great location, amazing beaches and walks close by, loads of character and the staff were exceptional. Don’t write reviews very often but this stay stood out as the place was really welcoming and the service outstanding. Nathan was exceptionally welcoming and with such a great attitude you rarely come across these days. We will be back! We only had two nights here.
- Janet (7/5): A fine old pub in a stunning location. - The ‘old pub’ ambiance. The friendly staff. Lifeboat pale ale. The food. The room, it was cramped, only one chair, the window was high & once seated (on the bed or in the one chair) we couldn’t see what must be a stunning view.
- Gooch (7/5): -
- Sav (9/5): -
- Chris (10/5): -
- Karen (10/5): - room, dinner & breakfast as well as the welcome & service by the staff team - all excellent nothing - couldn't improve
- Blackwell (10/5): Exceptional - This is our favorite place there is something about it that is just lovely. We asked for Rumbold room and it didn't disappoint. The atmosphere is one of olde worlde down stairs and modern coastal upstairs. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. Veggie menu could be better but I asked for certain food and the chef did it. Thanks chef
- Jayne (10/5): A very enjoyable stay - Lovely room and a lovely breakfast
- Blackwell (10/5): Wonderful old place with modern bedrooms - This is our go to place. Just wonderful. We love the rooms, the shower the bed is utterly amazing. I am vegetarian and there is food for me to eat. The young man who served us breakfast morning of the 28th was so professional he is a real credit to you. Going again next week. Could you please do more veggie food 😋
- Rebecca (9/5): Lovely pub, friendly staff, amazing location. - We have visited the lifeboat allot over the years but this was our first time staying there. The staff are all lovely and very friendly and accommodating. Love the open fire. Had Sunday lunch and the food was delicious. Lovely walks straight from the pub door. The hot water in our room was very very hot and we found it very difficult to get a comfortable temperature to shower in. This could be very dangerous.
- Lucinda (9/5): -
- Margaret (5/5): - Breakfast good
Locatiom goodw Wardrobes in the bedrooms.
- Liam (5/5): - Staff Cleanliness
- Debbie8 (9/5): - Food was good, room was a lovely size, location was ideal for what we had come for, staff were very friendly, plenty of parking , complimentary toiletries and biscuits were lovely. Road noise was louder than I expected but it is on a main road so not unexpected.
- David (9/5): It was a lovely holiday! Total guesswork with where we were booking, but turned out great! - Staff! Location and facilities. Flies in the dining room. The room was quite hot.
- Jane (10/5): First class all round. - Lovely quiet location, we arrived early but were given our table for lunch and room straight away. All staff friendly and helpful. Food excellent.
- Ernest (8/5): An enjoyable stay only too short. - Staff very friendly and quick to please. The breakfast was very well presented and of excellent quality. Liked the fact that I was given a key for the outside door in case I return after the inn is closed. The inn is starting to look war torn and could do with a good clean. An industrial vacuum cleaner instead of the cheap domestic one, getting into corners and dusting some of the artefacts throughout the inn would be a start.
- Paul (10/5): - Dog friendly, very clean, nice rooms and bar. Drink prices somewhat high.
- Blackwell (10/5): We will be back - The room was warm and cozy. The bed was amazing and we had a beautiful sleep. Staff super helpful and very friendly. We had just had to let our dog go to Rainbow bridge and the fact that dogs were allowed was so lovely and we met the beautiful Kate a labrador retriever, who was happy to be fussed.
Modern decor mixed with original was so lovely. Not a complaint but it would be amazing if you could provide more choices for vegetarians.
- Paul (8/5): Lovely 2 night stay. - Lovely 2 night stay, Staff were all very friendly & helpful. Food & drinks were great, including breakfast. nothing
- Adrian (8/5): friendly staff, lovely food, cosy rooms - breakfast was amazing nothing it was absolutely perfect
- Fiona (9/5): Would definitely come back but hopefully for longer next time - Food was exceptional, good quality produce.
Restaurant was really welcoming, service was excellent It was all good
- Colin (9/5): Great. - Everything. sounds odd but the toilet paper in the room was cheap and nasty.
- Stephen (8/5): Worth a visit - Quirtky cosy building. Food was good in the restaurant. Staff were friendly especially the young lad that was our server during our evening meal. Breakfast was OK 👍 👌 Had to go to reception to get the fresh milk that should have been in the room.
Found a sanitary product on the tea/coffee tray, weird!!
- nicholas (9/5): Satisfied will visit again - Lovely breakfast Wifi a little in room however in public areas good
- Paula (9/5): Great location, fab friendly staff. Very busy but nothing was too much trouble. -
- Julie (1/5): Room without a view - Room was awful smelled of dogs bathroom dirty . I had booked extra large room with sea view. Room view was a garage roof top . Staff upgraded on the second night to the room we had actually paid for i.e. large with a sea view and not smelling of dogs
- Kathleen (8/5): We always love The Lifeboat - cosy, welcoming, homely! - We loved the smell of the open fire when we entered the building! Dog beds looked as if they hadn’t been cleaned from previous visitors.
- Helen (10/5): Very busy nice pub - Nice cozy pub Lovely
- Alison (10/5): -
- Allie (9/5): Wonderful festive weekend. - Great atmosphere and welcoming staff.
- Bullivant (8/5): -
- Stuart (7/5): definitely be back - Lovely room, good breakfast, very cosy bar, fantastic location very unfortunate, but smoke detector flashing above our heads, in the dark it lights up the room, sadly no sleep second night.
- Peter (10/5): -
- michael (10/5): - Great location for the norfolk coast path.
Really lovely staff.
The pub itself is way cosier than the pics.
Food also excellent. Would definitely stay again Nothing
- Elizabeth (10/5): Chilled and fab food - Beautiful location and very chilled atmosphere Nothing
- James (10/5): Pleasurable - Everything Nothing
- Karen (10/5): - Location is excellent for walking, exploring, eating and drinking.
Lovely and quiet on the Norfolk coast, with wonderful views .
- Colin (7/5): - Great spot lovely building Room very very small
Evening meal poor choice and expensive wine exhortation
- Nigel (7/5): -
- Jane (9/5): Lovely old pub , great staff - Lovely d traditional pub.
Excellent staff. Husbands fish 🐟 and chips disappointing.
- Wendy (10/5): So glad we found this hotel, we will definitely go back. - The situation of the hotel, is perfect for travelling around and sightseeing.
The staff were super friendly and nothing too much trouble.
The food was amazing, especially the breakfast, our room was lovely comfortable, and lovely view over the marshes, and a glimpse of the sea as well.
- Anthony (8/5): -
- Philip (4/5): Very dissapointing - Breakfast Location of seating for evening meal. Everyone passing us going to the toilet. Poorly lit. Staff overwhelmed. Chips were cold. Meal okay. White wine was tasteless, seemed watered down. Red wine good.
- Dianne (10/5): We had a brilliant stay in a sea view room and were very well looked after from check in to leaving. - Breakfast unbelievable. Dinner was lovely very good value. Room and en suite fantastic lots of toiletries loads of towels lovely big bath and power shower,
Exceptional dog friendly service everything they wanted was provided,
Good parking & outside seating was all the way round the pub grounds.
Staff at breakfast were brilliant & the lady on reception very helpful. Everything was perfect
- Barbara (9/5): -
- Lexy (10/5): - Amazing food and lovely room especially the shower!
- Karen Dawn (9/5): Lovely location, with excellent facilities and good team - good service and food lovely slightly understaffed
- Neil (4/5): We were moved to the chequers up the road from the lifeboat inn and facilities were disappointing breaking was poor no t - Location Not the lifeboat inn
- Vicki (10/5): Perfect get away with amazing views and proximity to the beach. - The location was perfect. Views of the sea from our room.
Beautiful decor combining old with new. Plenty of parking and really friendly staff. Loved that you t was dog friendly. We didn’t take our dog this time but loved being able to pet other dogs that were there! No complaints at all.
Breakfast was very busy and took a little while but perhaps not enough staff on. Despite that the staff were very friendly and apologised for the wait.
- Sienne (10/5): For dogs & their humans to recharge - Exceptionally dog friendly with beds, bowls, towels and treats for our two dogs. Sausages at breakfast and 5 minutes low traffic walk to the Norfolk Coast Path Lovely place
- chris (8/5): A wonderful old pub in an amazing location - Location, character, staff were lovely Mould in the bathroom , on the ceiling and tiles, probably because the fan didn’t work
- Mark (9/5): -
- Cheryl (9/5): - The hotel was lovely, the staff were very friendly, the room was well set out and comfy Strange set up for milk in the room, couldn't use tea/coffee facilities as milk given in a flask and didn't keep over night
- Bev (9/5): We’d go back - Location and food No milk in room
- kerri (7/5): A good stay over priced stay … paid an extra £25 for early check in - It’s character Very dark reception area… trip hazard
- Jonathan (1/5): A very disappointing stay, never to be repeated. - It was shabby, dirty and run down. The sea view was distant over a pub car park that was filled with camper vans. We paid a premium price to enjoy a sea view, this was not what we got. The walls of the room were paper thin and you could hear TV and conversations from next door room. The car park was noisy with noise all throughout the night, car engines, gravel, camper van occupants, you get the picture. All in all it was a very poor experience that I would not like to repeat. The description of the sea view should be taken with a pinch of salt.
- MICHAEL (9/5): -
- Gamwell (7/5): -
- Linda (10/5): Lovely Character pub - Friendly, Helpful Staff
The Life Boat Inn is full of character
Food excellent
Room very clean Our daughter and little children joined us for breakfast and although it was lovely quality food it was on the pricey side.
- Roland (8/5): -
- Nick (10/5): Staff were very accommodating and couldn’t have been more helpful during our stay that we had to cut short - will defini - Very clean
- Grindley (4/5): - The location. That's all. Sorry. We feel that there was not enough staff, waiting times awful ,professional service not there. No one seemed to know what to do. Needs better management, waited ages for breakfast forgot about us. Dinner had to return steak as was not edible ( tough) we won't be stopping again,£653 for two nights.
- Deborah (10/5): Everything great shame about lots of flies - Staff were very friendly room was lovely very large bathroom very clean very comfortable Only thing didn’t like was when trying to eat dinner and breakfast lots of flies the food was lovely but constantly having flies around us spoilt it put us off our food felt very annoying
- George (8/5): -
- Liz (8/5): -
- Charles (9/5): - Excellent location and friendly staff. Great breakfasts.
Would stay again. Not much really, but we felt the restaurant's menu little limited, expected more seafood choice.
- Melvin (8/5): Lovely pub in great spot but no outside view a shame - Very nice staff. Well appointed room. Nice bathroom Our room had a window but was opaque as opposite beer garden. Lovely room but no view out. Such a shame
- Sav (9/5): -
- Caroline (9/5): Very nice stay would happily return. - Great location and full of character. We had a King double which was a good sized room with a nice en-suite. Nice and friendly staff. Good breakfast choices. Nothing to dislike. The only thing I would have liked would be a magnifying mirror in the bathroom to help when applying makeup and a couple of hooks behind the bathroom door for towels and robes.
- Kevan (8/5): -
- Etienne (9/5): Wij vinden het een aanrader. - Pubatmosfeer, restaurant en terras, ligging vlakbij kust, ruime parking, prima ontbijt Biergarden niet gezellig
- Carla (7/5): Really lovely but not worth the full amount. - Lovely food and staff, nice atmosphere in 90% of the venue and lots of different areas to sit / dine / drink watch sport etc. Not worth the £260 a night we paid. Bit sloppy in the rooms - non matching touched up areas of paint for example, broken fan, baking hot room, old shower gel hangers on the wall. No milk in the room for yes and coffee - we found out later it should be offered on check in but it wasn’t. Sad because on the whole it was good just little details let it down.
- Tracy (10/5): Enjoyed our stay, lovely location but room feels somewhat overpriced. - Location, comfortable room, friendly staff, breakfast choices. Attention to deal at breakfast. Slow service, no dirty plates removed from tables around the room. Orders not delivered as ordered. At dinner £7 Fraser salad was very skimpy. Disappointed with the red wine we order (so our fault) but was not as described on wine list.
- Alice (10/5): The perfect getaway if you want a relaxing break by the coast. - A beautiful building with modern bedrooms, gorgeous bathrooms and everywhere is pet friendly which was fantastic for us as we brought our dog. The staff were warm and welcoming and food was delicious! We thought it was a lovely idea to add a dog bed, towel and shampoo to the bedroom and our dog loved her sausage at breakfast. Can’t wait to come back next year!
- Marie McManus (10/5): -
- Fiona (8/5): Great location and buildings, and a pleasant stay. - Lovely building, There was obviously a number of new staff in training so a few little points were missed - cold serving plates, lack of serving spoons, mixed up orders and bills, but everyone was friendly and helpful. Shame no local real ales - disappointing.
- Joanne (10/5): Tranquil and idyllic - Beautiful and idyllic, country pub meets coastal setting, great balance. The decor was warm and welcoming and the most comfortable sleep I have had in ages.
- Catherine (8/5): -
- Sara (9/5): Loved our stay & staff were all brilliant - Lovely property with lots of historical interest. Great staff, very welcoming to my dog. Fabulous breakfast. Comfortable & clean room but needs a bit of tlc. I.e window blinds, paint patches & cracked plaster.
- paul (5/5): Overall, it was not a good experience and did not represent value for money. £5.50 for a bottle of sparkling water! Real - The character of the inn Inattentive service in the restaurant and bar, requiring me to eventually go and find someone to serve us on three occasions. Dinner where like for like courses were not served together. Over salted fish with burned batter (the cost was, however, removed from our final bill).
The bacon at breakfast was too salty.
Extremely low cold water pressure to the wash hand basin in the bedroom.
An error on our final bill, discovered by me, where we had been overcharged by over £70 due to charges for another room being added to us. All customers need to check their bill!
Whilst I knew in advance that there was a charge of £50 for two dogs, I nevertheless feel that this is disproportionate.
- David (10/5): Very pleasant two days. - Room with view to the sea.
Excellent breakfast choices well presented.
Very pleasant friendly staff. Nothing.
- Martyn (8/5): Fantastic location for super dog friendly stay - The staff were super friendly and helpful
The room was clean well decorated and spacious with a nice bathroom and comfy bed
We liked the dog friendly vibe everywhere- you don't always encounter this Just felt the food could have been upped a notch or two eg fish and chips- great fish but the batter was a little over cooked and was crunchy brown rather than light to break into and a perfect golden brown.
Breakfast selection was generally fine although the home made granola was welcome I found it was very hard in the mouth and on the risky side for teeth!
Also just felt the cooked option I chose was a bit 'ordinary'- the poached eggs broke into a puddle of yolk so I would say were a little under-cooked. Small refinements in the kitchen would improve this
- Judith (9/5): A perfect way to celebrate a birthday - Position. Close to many different attractions Nothing.
- martin (9/5): - Service evening meal and breakfast was excellent .
- Thomas (5/5): The best thing about the stay was the room and the breakfast. - Great location have been before for a drink and was excited to return for the night. Parking was awful couldn’t get parked and had to keep driving round the car park waiting for a space. We went to the main reception and asked what we could do and was told to either park at a pub down the road (we have just been there) or just wait for a space. We came on Easter Sunday the pub was packed overly packed with people eating no space to drink or get a drink and sit and relax. It. Just seemed full of people and chaos. People with no control over dogs. The meal was awful a cold roast dinner tasteless and my partner had to eat mine as well as his own as his portion was so small. Really disappointed with the food. It’s hard to see why it was so busy. There was no benefit from staying the night as the staff didn’t seem to care who they served. Very disappointed and unhappy.
- Carrianne (10/5): Superb location - Excellent value for money Room was very hot
- Helen (10/5): Loved The Lifeboat Inn, already planning another visit - Lovely location. Plenty of helpful and friendly staff, breakfast very good. Room and facilities were clean and all in working order. My dog was treated as a valued customer too. No complaints at all
- Carolyn (6/5): Great location and with a bit more polish will be a fabulous place to stay. - Very comfortable and nicely decorated room at the front of the building, with a view of the sea. All the staff were friendly and welcoming. The food at dinner was plentiful but the quality varied. Great fish and chips (which I would expect so close to the sea) but the burger seemed to be a frozen patty and lacked flavour. The service on a busy Saturday night was slow and a bit haphazard.
