- Rea (8/5): - Clean, tidy, dated building but has character. Quiet. Perfect for the races on Princess cruise. Uber only cost £7 to get in to town. Carpet in the bedroom needed changing,
- miller (9/5): - Room size
Roll-top bath
Friendly and professional staff
Dinner Large room felt sparse of furniture
- Peter Iduh (8/5): No - Yes Yes
- Jenette (1/5): Very disappointing - Location Everything else. Our “suite” was very tired, the floor was uneven, the bed was old and very uncomfortable, not enough hot water to have a bath, no curtains on the windows …just wooden shutters that didn’t close properly…just awful. Breakfast was terrible….cheap produce and not enough of them ….constantly had to ask for things that had run out. Only one waiter for the whole restaurant…..very disappointing.
- Yaqoob (10/5): Nice hotel horrible front desk lady - Everything Staff the lady on the front desk seemed like she did want us there
- Alexandra (10/5): -
- Kurtis (10/5): Excellent for the money - Excellent Excellent

- Nicholas (6/5): Great location, nice staff but needs a bit more attention to detail if you are charging £140.00 pn - The location as it was close to where we needed to be, the staff were friendly and helpful.
The main staircase was impressive. The amount we paid for the night was £140 you can book this venue for £85 for the lower amount things may be more acceptable.
This hotel is a lovely building and the main areas are clean and tidy but it could easily be so much better with a little effort.
The room we had was tired and needed a little work in the detail.
The room was generally clean but the carpet looked grubby and stained, it should be cleaned or if the stains wont come out they should be replaced.
The bath room, sealant around the bath facia some was missing some was dirty, it could be stripped and redone so easily, the painting of the ceiling all round the edges made it look unfinished when it would be so easy to make it look finished, we didnt think the extract fan was working if it was it was silent!
Attention to detail on the coffee station, the room was booked for two however there were not two of each item.
The bedroom window, this had been part frosted with an additive over the glass but some was scratched off, either remove it all or replace the scratched off coverings. There were haevy blackout curtains so it did not need the frosting.
Breakfast - The cooked breakfast for the £15.00 pp extra was not great value, the quality and quantity was low and extra dressing of herbs over the mushrooms when not advised was not appreciated. However the continental option and variety was very good. The brewed coffee was bitter and nasty as if it had been sitting for a long time. (Theres a Toby carvery nearby where a great breakfast is only £6)
If the venue has a large booking like a sixth form leavers ball (on the night we stated) it might be good to advise guests when they book in case it causes issues like no seating in bar or garden areas NOTE. this didn't affect us but may have not been liked by others.
- Harriet (10/5): - Beautiful hotel in a historic building in a lovely location! N/a
- Lorraine (9/5): A lovely place to base yourself to explore Nottingham - A beautiful location. The staff were friendly. The place was beautifully presented and clean. The bed! I felt like the mattress was made from a concrete slab. I love a firm bed, but this was next level.
- Perrett (9/5): Old world charm. - The old-time charm of the building and garden. The room also had the charm of the past, but the bathroom was modern and well equipped including a bidet. Out of their control, but we were disapointed we could not enjoy the riverside and rear garden due the rain.
- Mirko (9/5): - Ottimo afternoon tea, villa molto bella. Vicino a un parco immerso nella campagna inglese. Materasso scomodo.

- Andrea (8/5): - Lovely setting, easy to get to. Beautiful building. Friendly staff. We had dressing gowns in the room, which was a nice touch. Lots of tea options (replenished daily) Our room was called William Blake, but there were no touches (poetry or paintings by him) to reflect that.

- O2870MErobertt (10/5): Very good experience - Delicious afternoon tea for a belated Mother's Day treat. The sandwiches, scones and cakes were fresh and tasty and there was a sufficient amount for the four of us.
The venue was clean and well-presented,
Service was exemplary - just the right level of attention.
Setting is very pleasant.
Good value for money, especially using vouchers
- p4ul2007 (10/5): Lovely Afternoon Tea - Visited on 19 March for Afternoon Tea for a little Birthday Treat for my Mum. The selection was great & service was exceptional. Thank you for a lovely afternoon. Highly recommended!
- Simon (9/5): -
- Danny (3/5): Needs some money spending on it - Iconic Tired and dirty room
- AJHawes (9/5): Spacious room, plenty of parking - Room was spacious and clean. Plenty of parking onsite and easily accessible from main roads. Well situated for working in Nottingham. The onsite restaurant wasn't particularly amazing for the price
- thebars2026 (10/5): Colwick Hall Event Review - We hosted our annual society dinner here on the Saturday that has just passed.
The staff at Colwick Hall have been very easy to work with, particularly Geetha, as we have been closely coordinating with them for the past couple months. They have been flexible with us where possible, as a University Society this was immensely helpful to deliver the best possible event. Colwick Hall provided a competitive price compared to other venues, and provided great value for that price.
We held our event in the Champagne Lounge & the 1776 Grand Ballroom, the Lounge was a great area for networking and for welcome drinks as it has a bar. The Grand Ballroom was beautiful, and as described, Grand, as can be seen per the photo. The entrance and garden are also lovely, and make a great walk around.
We had a three course meal, with welcome drinks. There was a wide variety of options available. The food was very nice, warm when served and of good quality.
- julia (9/5): -
- Brendan (1/5): - Not a lot Food
- Liam (10/5): -
- Ruth (7/5): A comfortable stay. - Clean, comfortable, quiet. Good sized room. We were able to order room service sandwiches and drinks which we appreciated. The hotel is in a peaceful location but within easy reach of the city. TV remote was missing from the room. Not a lot of milk provided with the tea/ coffee making provisions.
- Explorer518171 (10/5): Treat Yourself! - A beautiful venue! Service fab and food delicious! Would thoroughly recommend.
- M1359JCnatalies (10/5): Brilliant afternoon tea! - First time we visited colwick hall, what a pleasure it was, I booked a table for myself and my mum for Mother’s Day and it did not disappoint, the service was great the staff was very well presented.
Colwick hall is so picturesque we will definitely be back soon!
Great choice of sandwiches and cakes the soup and mini quiche was a great touch and was so nice!
Can’t wait to return! Well done colwick hall!
- Catherine (7/5): Great location - A lovely house with interesting history in a great location The room felt very hot and stuffy and the bed was too soft for my liking
- kevin (7/5): - Food to expensive to eat at Hotel
- Ronnie (9/5): -
- Dominique (9/5): A regular visit to this hotel . My family and I love it - The setting and the old quaint feel
- Del198001 (4/5): Afternoon Tea - The food is really poor quality. The filling in the sandwiches is like a shop bought spread and the cakes seemed like poor quality too. For the price i dont think its worth it but on the positive the venue is family friendly and a nice atmosphere with good jazz music. They seemed understaffed as your waiting a little too long for general service but they do work hard and are pleasant.
- Donald (10/5): - Handy for my night out Nothing

- amandawU9301UX (10/5): A beautiful hotel , cant wait to return x - Wow - what can I say? An absolute beautiful hotel. Every member of staff that we met during our stay were obliging, polite, even humorous at times.
The double room was better than expected, bed extremely comfortable, the view over the water feature was stunning. The only negative comment would be the floor in the bathroom, I felt could be slippery when wet, but apart from that, I cant wait to return in the future.
- Amanda (10/5): A beautiful hotel, welcoming, comfortable and cant wait to return x - The hotel and grounds are outstanding. The room and bathroom was very spacious and exceeded all expectations. The only negative comment I could possibly think of was the bathroom floor could be slippery when wet, but apart from that absolutely loved our stay.
- Krystian (10/5): - Room was incredible and very comfortable. Incredible decor and bathroom was just insanely huge!
Absolutely extraordinary room especially for the price you pay. Staff are extremely friendly. There is plenty of parking space. Restaurant was really tasty and nice drinks at the bar however the speed of initial service was quite long to get any staff to serve us behind the bar
- Brad (9/5): lovely venue with comfortable beds and professional, friendly staff - lovely venue with comfortable beds and professional, friendly staff nil

- Harrison (8/5): Good stay for the night! Would happily come back - Very nice grounds and picturesque. Clean throughout and very nice staff Could hear other rooms and floors were very uneven in the room and bathroom.
- M9698AMmargarets (10/5): Great location - We came as a group of friends for a birthday lunch and had a very enjoyable afternoon. The food was delicious and very good value, and the service exceptional. The location itself is lovely, elegant Georgian architecture in attractively landscaped gardens.
- Sarah (9/5): Cannot wait to return. - Stunning surroundings. Exquisite building.
Reception staff absolutely superb and very professional. Communication from point of booking was second to none.
Room 104 - incredible. Slightly tired in a couple of places but that’s if I’m being super picky.
- Michelle (10/5): -
- Susan (10/5): - Surroundings were beautiful, room was a good size with a big bed and very comfortable. Good location Nothing
- Kerri-Anne (10/5): A very enjoyable place to stay fora short break - It was a charming place to stay It was all fine for us
- Serbjit (8/5): -
- Dominik (7/5): Great staff, ok property - The staff were really helpful especially lovely receptionist at our arrival. A few things didn't feel like 4 star such as drippy shower, loose/missing handles on desks and window shutters, silicone sealant peeling off by the sink. Minor things but kind of felt tacky given this isn't a 2 star dive but a period property
- Gary (8/5): -
- Dan (10/5): -
- 305sjt (10/5): Amazing afternoon tea - Booked in for an afternoon tea today and it was amazing, the food was delicious, the ambiance second to none and the service was Excellant very attentive. Highly recommend
- Susi (5/5): Shame we were ill on day 2 but otherwise ok. - Breakfast was good. Bathroom was small with no room for belongings. Only 1 bulb was working in mirror. Staff were excellent. Unfortunately the second day after dinner the previous event, we had to cancel our plans as I was suffering from food poisoning and vomiting. My husband was ill also. This was unfortunate as it ruined our stay overall despite the facilities being good.
- liindy2016 (10/5): Comfortable, quirky, welcoming. Lovely peaceful place to stay. - Colwick Hall is our "go to" hotel whenever we stay in Nottingham. In a beautiful quiet park location, out of the city but not too far away.
There is always a friendly welcome, usually from the lovely Sam but whoever is in reception, it is a pleasure to arrive.
The rooms are all different and quirky, with real character and comfortable beds.
There is a good breakfast, buffet style cereals, fruit, juice, pastries, yoghurts, toast followed by a cooked selection including full english. Tea and coffee are brought to your table.
It's the ancestral home of Lord Byron and is decorated accordingly so don't expect "modern clean lines". It's very comfortable and relaxing.
We have never experienced any noise in the evening/night, even when there have been weddings taking place. It is a lovely romantic venue!
The staff are always extremely friendly and welcoming.
- Deborah (8/5): -
- Middleton (5/5): Okay - My bed was two single beds put together and the room was quite small with a tiny bath even though I asked for a bigger bath in the email before arriving. The beds put together and the rooms being small
- Alison (3/5): Overpriced for the condition of the room and overall experience. - The building and the grounds are stunning. We stayed in the Lord Byron Room, which is advertised as the luxury suite, as a special treat for our son’s 8th birthday.
On arrival, we were asked if we would be staying for breakfast. We agreed and were later charged £44.84 for two adults and one child, which felt extremely expensive.
Unfortunately, the room itself was very tired and in need of refurbishment. The soft furnishings were stained, and the carpet had clearly seen better days. My son was very excited to use the freestanding bath, but the plug was not attached properly — it had a small piece of string tied to it, which snapped when we tried to drain the bath. We then had to struggle to remove it. The shower head attached to the bath had holes in the hose, causing water to spray everywhere when I tried to rinse my son’s hair.
I ended up putting him in the main shower instead, but this did not drain properly and flooded the entire bathroom floor. I had to use all of the towels to dry the floor, and they turned black, which suggests the bathroom floor had not been properly cleaned.
There was no mini fridge in the room, so we were unable to keep drinks cool. The bedding also felt worn — the pillows were lumpy and had an unpleasant smell. The room became very hot during the night, we couldn’t work out how to turn the heating off, and the window only opened slightly.
We ended up leaving early as my son felt unwell. At checkout, I politely asked if it would be possible to refund the breakfast, as we would not be staying for it due to my son’s poorly tummy. I was told no refund was possible but that the restaurant was still open if we wanted to go. I found this response quite insensitive given the circumstances.
We paid £230 for one night, which in our opinion was not value for money. The hotel itself is a beautiful building with a lot of potential, which makes it even more disappointing that the room and overall experience did not reflect the price or the “luxury suite” description.
- O3790UCmaryr (10/5): Afternoon Tea - Afternoon Tea with Prosseco service and food was exceptional we was very well looked after and would love to come back .
- maryreeve (10/5): Best tea for two - lovely experience, friendly welcome and great service. Tasty soup, sandwiches, cakes scones and prosecco. Loved the history of the building and the connection to Byron. Highly recommend.
- Graham (9/5): -
- Melanie (5/5): Not worth the charge - Setting was lovely, breakfast was very nice. Staff were friendly My room was dirty, bathroom especially toilet had not been cleaned, just tickled. In dire need of updating. Beds uncomfortable. No apologises. Alarm going off due to a smoke machine. Nobody came round to say this was a false alarm. Again nobody apologized for this. I would not stay again. Feel very let down as was looking forward to the stay. For the price I feel I could have had better
- Stewart (10/5): - The staff and the facilities first class Having to leave
- N4606DEjohnc (10/5): A comfortable stay in a unique setting - A unique hotel with a glorious history in a quiet setting. Service and breakfast was excellent within a historic setting.
