- Paul (8/5): Very comfortable with nice outlook over the park. - Good value for money and helpful staff. Assistant manager Sienna went out of her way to help me with a few problems that I had (nothing to do with the Hotel). Her English was ok and she would make sure that my problems were sorted, even ordering in a bag that I required to transport extra samples home to Australia. She wasn't comfortable with me getting a taxi alone to the shopping mall so she went online and found what I required and had it sent to the hotel. She even gave me her WeChat contact so that if I had any problem when she was not available, I could contact her to sort it out. I hope that the management of the Hotel chain see this review so they know what an exceptional young staff member they have. They had a coctail lounge bar area but it was never open.

The room was comfortable, AC was good, internet connection good. The bed was clean and comfortable. The breakfast buffet is minimal, but good. The food was hot. The location is great, it is a short walk to the lake and there are many places to eat very close by. ALSO…. Very close to a Starbucks! The price is very reasonable, the staff was great. No complaints!

- Verified traveler (8/5): - This is a comfortable hotel with nice friendly staff who have a good quality of English. However the breakfast could be better and the coffee especially was quite bad. There are plenty of alternative food options just outside the hotel which is handy.

The manager was very considerate throughout my stay, and one of her team members walked me over to a noodle house after I asked for a recommendation in the plaza. 2. The gym though not as large as a 5-star was immaculate and air conditioned. 3. The location (which is also a Con) allows for walking around Songshan Lake and is a part of Vanke Plaza, which has a combination of food and services, including a Starbucks, McDonald's, and soon to be KFC. There is a small bar called Ascription, which offers good vibes. Jason is the manager and is a good guy. Cons: 1. The AC, which past reviewers warned about, is inaccurate because it is capped. You can lower it all you want, but good luck with that. In addition, despite the fact that my room was well cleaned, there was also a mildew smell that was pervasive in my room. 2. I was double charged. I prepaid through Hotels.com and explained before and after checkout that I did so. My Chinese was apparently insufficient which is what happens when I didn't use WeChat. Fortunately, Hotels.com returned my pre-payment without too much hassle. 3. Location. My driver could not find the hotel despite providing him with the address in Chinese. In fact, this happened more than once. The hotel though inside Vanke Plaza is around the back past one of the parking entrances. Use Starbucks, and McD's at Vanke as landmarks, but it's a 3-5 min walk from there to the hotel.

- Verified traveler (10/5): - Stayed 3 nights at the Aloft Dongguan during a business trip, my first to Dongguan. The hotel is next to a small shopping mall with mainly eateries and restaurants, including Starbucks, Pizza Hut and a variety of local restaurants. Hotel is clean, modern and spacious. They were out of double rooms, but the twin room I was assigned had 2 queen-sized beds and was large enough for 4 persons. All the usual amenities were available, and there's even a refilling point for drinking water at the lift lobby on each floor.

Spacious rooms, serviceable gym, good food, though very poor for vegetarians/vegans - which is very normal for China. A good choice of restaurants nearby though very little variety. - stavarek (8/5): Good for business trip - Hotel is located near the lake and offers good opportunity for walk or running. There is also a shopping mall and many restaurants nearby. The room was large enough and perfectly clean, bathroom was also very nice. The breakfast is a good mix of Continental and Chinese food. We arrived at 6:30 AM and hotel offered us a half day rate for early check-in which is fair. It’s possible two pay with Visa or MasterCard card which is pretty good in China. The Internet connection is very slow in the room but a little bit better in lobby. Only some of the staff speaks little English but they are happy to use mobile phones for translation and communication with customers.

- SzeYeeThong (10/5): Effort in reducing plastic utensils and better lighting - This is my repeated review for Aloft after my last stay more than 1 year ago. Good effort to replace the plastic utensils with the recycled material. Thank you for showing the examples to public. Please look into more opportunities such as the amenities packing. The corridor is brighter too with extra light. After all, It is still my business trip good choice of hotel for the room rate competitiveness.

- ahmeds0bhy (10/5): Amazing Hotel with Amazing Staff 😍 - No thing could describe how much i love this place ! Since my first stay her in March 2019 . I decided that my next stay in Dongguan should be in Aloft. Rooms are clean and honest house keeping stuff. The front desk stuff are more than amazing and helpful. They picked me up from the hotel with a private car with a perfect rate. They always help me using maps, Didi application and also recommends a good restaurants for me. Special thanks for Tony, Yomi, Mack, Candy, Lori and finally the breaty Rebecca 😍😍
- Jeffrey (10/5): - I had a 2 night stay at the Aloft. I was there for business. It is located in a newly developed part of Dongguan. The hotel is situated in a beautiful area near shops and restaurants. Very quiet hotel. The only complaint I had was that the bed was too firm for my liking. Otherwise, this is a wonderful hotel and I will stay there again on my next trip.

I have Gold Elite status and stayed for 5 nights, but they refused any upgrade and told me that Aloft (though part of Marriott) does not participate in Marriott upgrade program for Gold Elite. 2. It was very difficult to find a staff who can communicate in English. 3. It was hot and humid; temperature was maintained above 22 degree C. 4. I am a vegetarian and there was not a single vegetarian item in main course of meal at any time. 5. Very very slow internet.

- T7254OLericl (4/5): Ho Hum - Bonvoi Titanium member. We chose the Aloft because we found the Dongguan Fairfield so average - six stays in two years. The good: location. The bad: stained carpets, anemic air conditioning, no bed sheet - only a comforter, coffee maker broken two of three days, hot-service breakfast not near appropriate temperature.

- Ahmedaljo (10/5): Nice hotel and staff - Really nice hotel. Staff as well so helpful. One of the staff helped me to get a taxi for me, her name Candy, thank you Candy for your help. Also the hotel was nice and clean, I stayed for one night, good breakfast as well.

- roman_sperka (6/5): Business stay in October - I have stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. Seem to be overpriced for me. I had a room number 8342 and during the first day disgusting smell came out of the toilet sink. They sent housekeeping to correct it and the only thing they did was to stuck toilet paper into the sink next to toilet. Later on I asked for room change and they gave me new room on the same floor. This one was ok. The hotel is situated in shopping mall with SPAR store, McDonalds, KFC and many other restaurants and ATMs. The Lake District is. Approximately 16 km from city center, but there are taxis everywhere. Shenzhen airport 1 hour drive. Breakfast is fine with continental dishes too. Coffee is ok too. Room is fully equipped with complimentary water, cattle with tea and coffee, AC, TV and WiFi. They are blocking FB and all Google SW, so keep it in mind.

- DannyNg (10/5): Excellent room - My Savvy King Room was very spacious and quiet too. The hotel is next to a neighbourhood mall which hosts numerous restaurants, fastfood outlets, cafe, supermarket, and pharmacy. The breakfast is good with a combination of local and continental spread.
- Hermanation (4/5): Last Stay at the Aloft - This is my third stay at this aloft, and it will be my last. Many small annoyances have added up to a negative impression. I will start with the good things: 1. Short walk to Starbucks and restaurants. Starbucks is straight past the big Aloft sign and also straight after the big trip hazard and statue of a father taking a picture of his son and puppy. 2. There is a nice walking trail outside of the hotel around the little lake. It is just under 2 miles. Now the Bad: 1. The hotel is barely air conditioned. They leave the front door open to ventilate in the evening, that leads to mosquitos in the lobby, lots of them. That motivated me to write this since I am waiting in the lobby for colleagues to arrive. 2. There is never a bartender. You have to ask the front desk clerk to get you a drink. I taught clerk how to use a bottle opener today after watching her fail over and over again. Don’t expect mixed drinks, I suspect the liquor bottles are for decoration. 3. Lobby acoustics are awful. The loud drunk guys playing pool drown out conversation anywhere in the lobby. 4. Every room I have stayed in smells like it was just fumigated because someone smoked in it before me. A very appealing chemical + smoke smell... 5. The rooms are barely air conditioned. There is a thermostat, but it will never make it as cold or dry as you want it. Set for 18, it will struggle to get to 20.5 and it will be a moist cool. 6. The beds have only a comforter, gaurenteeing that you will be either hot (comforter on), or cold (comforter off). Could be solved with a working A/C, but see bad # 5. 7. The coffee at breakfast is terrible. Go to Starbucks after you eat. Just don’t go too early, Starbucks doesn’t open until 8. Everything else is OK. In China it has been my experience that you can stay at a very nice hotel for the price of a mid-range US hotel. This aloft falls into the category of mid-range hotel in China for a low-end US price. It is what it is. Hope this is helpful.
- SzeYeeThong (10/5): simple business traveler hotel, no traffic problem - I stayed in Aloft SongShan Lake for multiple times whenever on business trip to Dongguan. Good things I like about ..It is worth for the money, no massive traffic jam going and back from work, it has all the basic needs, safe and quiet environment (I usually open my room window for cool air) lots of green landscape near by despite not belong to the hotel, many restaurants, shops and one big massage center within walking distance ( 5 min walk). I am ok with no fancy swimming pool and gym room because I have no time to enjoy during working days. What could be better is the room ventilation (on and off the cigarette smell despite my non smoking room from the ducting) and the breakfast choices are rather similar daily. Despite all that, I appreciate the marketing manager Elsie for her warmth and sincerity and the housekeeping crew. Lastly, pet is allowed in this hotel even I don’t bring my dog along but good to see one from other guest ..I miss my doggies so much at home.

Staffs still polite and helpful 2. Room still clean and quiet (not facing the plaza), bed still comfortable 3. WIFI in the room is very bad 4. Breakfast not impressive, didn't have enough choices of food
- ohayo111hk (6/5): Trouble and not polite, after complaint better service - While we check in, face of reception was blank. As our price is from BRG, it showed lower price than normal price, they even spend more than half hour to argue that in both check in and check out. From my point of view, as long as the price different is between the agent, then they shouldn't bother the customer and sort it out on their own. However, they told us to called the best rate guarantee parties on our own. Just that night, I wrote an email to SPG BRG to complaint about it. The other day, the service was totally changed. I thought everything was alright, during check out, I totally changed my mind as they argue the price with us again and wasted me another more than half hour. Above all, I could say staying in this hotel is quite troublesome for me. However, the room decoration and design were quite nice. Even if the room is assigned to be non smoking room, you can still smell that from the air, I think that is from the carpet. As a budget choice, I would suggest this hotel. If for better service point of view, I wouldn't.
- JimmyinChina (8/5): Comfortable Enough - The hotel is situated across the Hyatt Regency, within walking distance. Some malls right next door with restaurants, McDonalds & KFC but nothing overly exciting. Air-con is quite poor in the lobby and non-existent in the car park. Our 2 rooms were extremely hot upon arrival in the afternoon and with the rooms facing the west, the afternoon sun shines directly into the rooms. Staff said it was because of a power outage earlier on? I have read previous reviews about lack of air-con so be on the lookout. In the evening, the air-con was just comfortable enough to sleep but if one likes it very cold, then sorry. The car park lacks enough lightings and is extremely dark, obvious that the management is trying to save on electricity costs. The rooms are typical Aloft rooms with the usual amenities and the size of the rooms are not bad for a short stay. No Diamond benefits as usual for Aloft properties but for an overnight sleep, no complaints really.
- Eduardo (8/5): Cool modern hotel, but not yet 100% ready - Nice, hip, modern hotel, but basic things like wifi and air conditioning were malfunctioning. The area is great because it is next to a small shopping center full of restaurants. Service was slow and the staff struggles to get things going; it took me 20 minutes to checkout.
- virginies887 (8/5): Good facilities, nice design, efficient - New property with clean and good facilities. No luxury but a nice design and efficient space planning. Rooms are spacious and equipped with everything one needs. Only thing I really missed was a 24h open corner where I could buy myself a quick bite. All dining options close at 8:30 pm ! That's pretty early. There are several restaurants next door in the mall but after a long day, I just really wanted to be able to relax and stay in. Service wise, the staff at front desk could use a smile and be a bit less robotic in their approach. Restaurant staff was very nice and helpful. The Hotel Manager definitely makes a difference. She is super attentive to her guests needs and goes the extra mile to ensure everyone is well taken care of. Would stay again if traveling in the area.
- Verified traveler (8/5): A Nice Find - This hotel had some nice amenities like a wireless phone charger, that are a nice touch, friendly staff, a fair breakfast brings the score down, proximity to Vanke Plaza and scores of restaurants provides many dining options.
- Alexander (6/5): Want to love it due to location but wifi kills it - Wifi is a deal breaker. In the evenings it slows to a crawl (around 300 kbps) and is also unstable. I couldn't even download a 200 kb PDF. Mornings and daytime is just fine. Breakfast is also below average and at an added 50 RMB/day cost. Gym was not bad although weights are on the lighter side and there's no pull up bar (there is a combo lat pull down). Unlimited free bottled water is nice.

- John (8/5): Nice hotel & neighborhood, poor wifi, small gym. - The hotel and neighborhood are great. New. Unique. Short walk to the beautiful lake with an amazing running path. The problem: Wifi is constantly overloaded and pretty much useless during peak times. Gym has barely any equipment.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Not quite to Aloft standards - I come to this are for business a few times a year. I got excited to have a new hotel in the area. The location is good with pleb of restaurants right out the door. But for opening less than a year ago this hotel already seems sort of shabby and not very well kept. The staff is pleasant and tries to be as accommodating as possible. But unfortunately the comfort level just wasn't there. The biggest bummer that despite having a non-smoking room my room smelled like old cigarettes

- Daniel (8/5): Great Little Gem in Dongguan/Dalingshan Area China - Hard to find a nice American style Hotel in this part of China that doesn't break the bank and offers great solutions for the business traveler. This one hit the sweet spot, signed a corporate contract with them.
- Tom (8/5): Great place and convenient - This place is comfy and convenient to restaurants and lake. Has great views and great service. I only had one bad night and that's when I got bit 3 or 4 times by mosquitoes. But I told the front desk and they took care of it. I would stay here again.
