Guest Reviews
- Emily (8/5): Great location, will stay again. - I traveled for Skoll. This hotel was perfect for the location. It is exactly what you would expect for a hotel of this class - perfect for my trip. I will stay here again. Would have liked a microwave/fridge.
- Jane (6/5): Location perfect, but hotel extremely basic - Central location was excellent, and the staff were very helpful and accommodating. Could store your bags before check in and on the day we checked out which was brilliant The bed was awful, cheap mattress and you could feel every spring!! Only one spare pillow in the room and we got back late so couldn't get another one.....pillows were really thin.
Bad smell on the landings and stairs which thankfully didn't reach the room.
You pay for the location and not the room, I wasn't expecting much to be honest reading other reviews, my expectations were low.
- Julie (8/5): Brilliant location, good value for money - The convenience to everywhere especially as it is in the route from the train station to the city. We had a front facing room and it was noisy outside on a night, but as long as the windows are closed the noisy was there but not bad enough to keep you awake.
- LOLITA (6/5): vargana - buvo arti mano objektų pelėsis, drėgmė, kvapas, nekeičiami rankšluoščisi
- Val (8/5): - Central location Very cramped room . Noise of plumbing from other rooms
- Aaron (3/5): - Lack of double glazing meant incredibly noisy all night and early morning.
- Sharon (8/5): -
- Mick (7/5): Very enjoyable - Central Parking
- Ann (6/5): Adaquate for a one night stay. - Bed was comfortable. Room was small. Showroom small. Shower weak. Lots of stairs to reach the room.
- Marta (8/5): Fantastic location, good price. - Great location, clean and quiet room, reasonable price. This was my 2nd stay in this hotel, and probably not the last one. I don't really have any reasons to complain.
- Lindy (10/5): - Lovely staff
Fantastic location, right in the center
Room was clean Friendly staff
Location
- Steve (9/5): Served our need and will use again - Right in the heart of the city opposite the Nee Theatre (which was our reason for going to Oxford) Wetherspoons 100 yards up the road
We used the Park & Ride and bus stop was 200 yards from property, Nothing really, it did what it said on the tin
- Powell Davies (8/5): - Great central location.
- Tobias (9/5): - Sehr gute Lage, sehr nettes Personal
- peter (1/5): Never again couldn’t wait to leave - Nothing Dirty no where to put anything in the room no bedside table or chair in room rusty light in bathroom and towel rail no extractor fan in bathroom
- Tim (7/5): Good value - Central location A little noisy being central especially early in the morning. 5am wake-up call from the street cleaning truck.
- Alison (4/5): Very disappointed for the money paid. - The fact the hotel is in a good position, where I wanted to be. The room was poorly finished. Bed was very uncomfortable, mattress was poor and you could feel the springs. The noise on the street kept me awake, people shouting, obviously windows are not soundproofed.
- Lisa (8/5): Great reasonably priced hotel - Location excellent, cosy and comfy room just perfect for my short stay of one night.
- CWER (7/5): -
- Martine (6/5): - Location was great for our needs; shopping and theatre. We were in room 25. The first bed's mattress was awful. Lumpy and creaked with every move. No bedside table next to bed so used stool from dressing table. No plug sockets close to beds. Had to do yoga to reach one under dressing table. Went to put a towel on towel rail and it came partly away from the wall so couldn't use.
Noise level from street, nothing the hotel can do but awful. Buses, taxis, shouting, singing, boy racers, bottles being emptied at bars, deliveries, road sweeper and dustbin lorry. Manged maybe 2 hours sleep intermittently.
- James (8/5): -
- Craig (7/5): - Location was great
Room was clean Rooms are small, the ensuit door did not even open fully as it hits the shower.
- Katherine (7/5): Very pleasant. - Very near train station, within walking distance and to all university buildings, museums and restaurants. Super friendly and helpful staff who were more than willing to help get suitcases up the stairs and store them for us after we checked out to give us an opportunity to walk around Oxford for the day. No elevator and 2 flights upstairs to room--but staff were very willing to help with suitcases. Not a major drawback for such a reasonably priced room in such a great location.
- Maik (8/5): -
- FRANCIS (7/5): Good central location for exploring Oxford - Location, helpfulness and friendliness of staff Street noise until 3:00 AM each night except Sunday.
Quarto pequeno.
- Lindsey (10/5): -
- Cathy (8/5): - Great location for our weekend in Oxford. Staff were helpful with early check in of rooms and booking us taxis. There are two George Hotels on Geroge Street which is confusing!
Central location and some of our rooms suffered with the external noise from a lively Saturday night in the city. Recommend ear plugs.
- Sasha Cox (1/5): Awful the room should of never been available to a paying guest, complete disgrace. - A full refund of £122.32 back to my card is the least that I expect you to do.
I look forward to your reply. Your message will be sent to the property via Booking.com
Dear Mr Anthony,
Good afternoon, I am Sasha Cox and with my partner stayed in your room no 15 on the night of 21st March 2026.
We booked in at around 14.15 on the Saturday and left our bag in the room leaving quickly to go out and enjoy our sightseeing in the glorious sunshine.
We encountered a large number of issues with room 15.
These issues became clearer from when we returned and during the night to the early hours of the morning.
1. Strong cigarette smoke in the bathroom.
2. Window only closed after having to jiggle and lift it a number of times.
3. Blind broken thus letting bright light through the thin curtains at 06.04.
4. No wardrobe knob on left hand door, exposing the sharp protruding screw.
5. Light bulb above bed has a large heap of dust on the top of it.
6. The pillows are awful no comfort from them, they are use less, had a near sleepless night with a very stiff neck in the morning.
7. The bed also most uncomfortable, the mattress is shot and the topper is the same. Then when stripping the bed back for housekeeping, we find the most unpleasant stains on the mattress.
In the morning I spoke to your very kind and nice receptionist. She said that the hotel was aware of the smell of cigarette smoke in the room / bathroom.
This is totally unacceptable, we should of been notified of this problem when we arrived. One of us could of been a serious asthmatic which would/could of caused a severe asthma attack.
The room is a disgrace and should of never been booked out for use until all those issues which we know were all known about by yourselves had been resolved resolved.
Never before have come across a hotel room in that state. The mattress and pillows are not of a hotel standard that charges £122.32. The guest is paying for a lovely comfortable relaxing nights sleep, this was definitely not what we had expected and received. A full refund of £122.
Men överlag trevligt - Centralt läge. Rent och snyggt. Tyst och lugnt Trapporna jobbiga
- João (8/5): -
- Kirsty (6/5): - The location is excellent, we didn't have much to do with the receptionist but she seemed nice. Perfectly adequate if you're just using the room as a base and aren't spending much time in the hotel. Our room faced out onto the street - it was Saturday night so very noisy until about 2am.
- Liam (10/5): -
- Daniel (5/5): Excellent location, but the room was far too small, poorly maintained, and not worth the price - ~~~~
~~~~ English:
The only good point was the location. It is right in the heart of Oxford city centre, so it is very convenient for getting around. There was also a kettle and some tea bags in the room. ~~~~ 日本語:
それ以外はかなり残念でした。エレベーターがなく、大きな荷物を3階まで運ぶのは大変でした。部屋はとても狭く、ベッドが大きすぎて収納の扉もほとんど開けられませんでした。カーペットや壁などにも目立つ汚れがあり、全体的に清潔感に欠けました。この内容で料金はかなり高すぎると感じました。同じような名前のホテルが近くにあり、場所も少し分かりにくかったです。また、24時間対応の受付と案内されていましたが、朝7時のチェックアウト時には誰もおらず、受付横にあった複数の電話番号にかけてもつながらず、メッセージにも返事はありませんでした。結局、待てなかったため鍵を部屋に置いたまま出るしかありませんでした。ティーバッグも使った分が翌日に補充されませんでした。
~~~~ English:
Apart from the location, the stay was quite disappointing. There is no lift, so carrying a large suitcase up three floors was difficult. The room was extremely small, and the bed was so large for the space that the wardrobe door could barely open. There were clear stains on the carpet, walls, and other areas, so the room did not feel clean. For what it offered, it felt very overpriced. It was also a bit hard to find because there are other hotels nearby with similar names. Although a 24-hour reception was advertised and confirmed by staff, there was nobody there when we checked out at 7am. None of the phone numbers left at reception were answered, and there was no reply to messages either. In the end, we had to leave the key in the room and go. The tea bags that had been used were also not replaced the next day.

- Leonid (8/5): -
- Rodrigo Gilmar (8/5): Great location value for money -
- Fatema (7/5): -
- Koundinya Sarma (1/5): Uninvited guests (bedbugs) causing itchy skin and bite marks left for week - Location Bedbugs
- Bruce (7/5): Excellent location, clean and comfortable - The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. The location was excellent. The reception area is in need of some TLC.
- Giuseppe (5/5): -
- Gerard (8/5): - Great location No lift is not suitable for people with disabilities
- Madison (4/5): - Good location. This place is tiny and very basic. The shower was blocked and didn’t drain. Definitely only workable for a single person.
- steven (7/5): -
- John (6/5): - Easy to book; got in and out fine. Really central - close to car park and all the places you want to visit. Unloved hotel, could do with an update...or some basic decoration and better cleaning.
Nada.
- Gabriel (1/5): -
- Alessandra (10/5): -
- Hansen (6/5): - banging noice one night
- Roxana (6/5): -
- Ingeborg (6/5): Ok, not horrible but not exceptional either - Location great, can walk to anywhere you want to or be in. The receptionist was very helpful and lovely.
Even though being located on a main street, the extra glazing cut out the street noise. The toilet is difficult to flush. The socket for charging the phone is under the desk. The second socket next to the bed was disconnected and the casing came off when we tried to use it. The bathroom did not feel that clean.
- Ozgur (6/5): -
- Beverley (9/5): Great stay in a lovely little hotel in a lovely city. We’ll be back. - Great location and quieter than I expected. Double glazing worked perfectly. Room was a bit cool but and heater didn’t work.
- Kazi (6/5): -
- Michael (6/5): - Central location A bit run down
- Sharon (8/5): -
- Shohruh (4/5): -
- satnam (5/5): -
- Russell (10/5): -
- halil (7/5): -
- Jade (8/5): We really enjoyed our stay - Good location
Good size room
Quiet at night time
Friendly staff
Reading past reviews it was clear the hotel had clearly taken onboard previous feedback particularly in relation to noise & smell.. don't let these past reviews put you off! There weren't quite enough plug sockets in our room & none next to the bed
- Dyana (7/5): -
- Elizabeth (9/5): Convenient stay - Really great location not too far from the train station and right around the corner from all of the main attractions. My bed had a slight indentation in it so I had to sleep on the other side. The shower was very small. Other than that everything was great.
- carole (7/5): Gem Close to the high street - Close proximity to centre and thestres. Varioys Bus stops outside. Plenty of restaurants of all kinds very close even on same street. Stairs there is no lift.
- David (9/5): Great value, amazing location ! - Fantastic location, clean, excellent value !
- Jon (5/5): Ok for a short stay - Close to all amenities
Clean and tidy Quite thin walls so a bit noisy
- Thomas (5/5): -
- Layzell (6/5): Great location and served a great purpose - Great location Nothing to dislike just wasn’t the nicest but you get what u pay for
- Roda76 (7/5): - Location The mattress
- Lharize and Leah (9/5): Good hotel, accessible and clean - I like the friendliness of staff and the big bed and clean room Only stairs, no lift
- Hsiao Yun (8/5): -
- Oliver (1/5): - No heat in bathroom, heat in bed room was extremely poor
- Lee (4/5): OK sort of hotel but don't expect too much - The location Bland room, cheap pillows, damp stains painted over.
- Paul (6/5): Price ok - Lage and staff No elevator loud street
- Debra (5/5): Great Location, Comfy Bed. Basic accommodation - The room was an okay size, the room was clean the bed was comfy. The location was great 2 min walk from Westgate, 2 mins from the action, pubs & restaurants - 10 min walk from the station, easy to find. Had a kettle, tea/coffee making facilities. The shower was very small; if you was on the larger size, you would not fit in. Not a great choice of teas/coffee - no bedside table, no plug near bed - lighting wasnt great in the main room. Television was tiny. Okay for 1 night stay, but wouldn't use for longer than 2 nights. The rooms had very thin walls.
- Abduganieva (5/5): -
- sara (3/5): - The location Room smelt not very clean and lots of stairs to climb
- Rebecca (8/5): Place was clean and had everything that you would want close to hotel. - Close to everything you could possibly need No lift
- Luke (9/5): -
- jennifer (10/5): -
- Marion (5/5): -
- Jessica (2/5): Clean, great location, but *very* noisy - Unfortunately this hotel was not what I was looking for. The room was right above a bus stop and the hotel is in a street that is very busy with students and bars. During your stay you have the choice to either stay awake all night because of loud passerbys and buses that continuously pick up passengers with loud engines, or to stay in a room without any ventilation if you choose to close the window since the room has no airconditioning. I went on a Tuesday, so dont expect that the noise is limited to the weekends. The room is clean, and the location is great, but if it is a restful night youre looking for, choose another hotel.
- Marta (8/5): -
- Kabir (7/5): - A feel of local English culture 👍
- Nigel (8/5): -
- Annie (7/5): 100% fantastic location just a bit noisy. - Location and staff - fab. Unbeatable location next to theatres and restaurants The front bedrooms are on the road side and being a city centre, it is noisy. Bring ear plugs and you'll be fine. Also, no lifts and if you struggle with stairs this would be a problem.
- Gwenaël Louis (8/5): -
- Gerard (8/5): - The location and staff was excellent My room was beside the reception, and I could hear the phone Dorbel ringing but was not too much of a problem
- David (6/5): -
- Dawn (4/5): Location was great right in city center - Location great Shower was squirting water floor got soaking wet took 20 mins to heat up
- Peter Monkman (7/5): easy and efficient - location and access to Oxford centre and places to eat and visit.
- Freya (8/5): Basic but comfortable hotel. A fraction of the cost of other centrally located hotels . Staff were responsive and accomm - Fantastic location, clean and tidy.
Friendly, helpful staff. Ver noisy neighbours in adjacent room … but that not the fault of the hotel!
- Michel (7/5): Great for Oxford New Theatre and rown centre, nice breakfast/ brunch bar nearby - Location, quiet Top floor, not good for those with mobility issues, wash basin didn’t have a working plug
